Trash to Treasure!

Wow where does the time go? I could have sworn it was just Friday and Monday snuck up on me so quick! I hope everyone had an amzing weekend full of creative thoughts. My weekend was filled with moving boxes, throwing things away, putting things up etc... Lots of work! As I was throwing things out I found my old cell phone box that my phone came in from ATT. To me they make the greatest boxes and I tend to keep them around for who knows what. Well I found my what. I altered the box and made it into a little keepsake box and covered it with some scraps of G45 papers I had and this was what I ended up with.

I used my Kreaxion 915 punch as a stencil this time to do a leafing border around the box. I used a Krylon Gold Leaf pen

Here is a close up shot - the button in the front was made using Amazing Mold Putty. I found a button in the dirt cleaned it up because I loved the design on it.

You can see the button and stenciling more closely. I used some alcohol ink and Colorbox to color it.

I stenciled all the way around the whole box - love how it came out. The punch was perfect for this.

I stamped the image and then used some actual chalk to give it a hazy look and then added some of the chalk around the edges and some gesso as well.

Hi everyone Monica here from the Sunshine state and all I can say is it is definitely sunny! Way to sunny for me I have lived here for over 20 years and I am still not used to this weather. Enough of the sun on to my project for today. I made a 3 Step card I first saw this card from Norma's blog. I am not sure where it actually originated though irregardless it is a beautiful concept.

I used Great Impressions Gardening Susie on the front. This is a great stamp it is the nice thick rubber and measures about 3.75 in height - perfect.

I used a sticker sentiment on the front of the card

This is the inside when you open the card is opens to 3 Steps I used different dies form Spellbinders on each step and papers from HFC..

Parchment Crafting

If you don't know what Parchment Crafting is, here is a video made from one of the Sweeties of Parchment Crafting with Rubber Stamps.

Basically, parchment crafting is stamping, heat embossing, etching (dry embossing) and piercing on vellum. You can do any combination of these techniques on vellum and you'll get beautiful results!

Believe...

BELIEVE!!

To believe is such a powerful word. Believing makes the impossible - possible. Whether it is something as simple as figuring out a creating way to use this amazing punch or to doing something you never dreamed you could. I believe I have done both so this is why I created this card.

I used Kreaxion punch 307 and adhered it to the paper back to back to give it the double sided look.

This is a closer look at this punch. Remember it is as easy as cutting a portion off, layering etc and these punches will gives you a variety of looks.

May Arts DT Call

Hi everyone Monica here and I am sharing some projects for the May Arts Design Team call. I hope everyone enjoys them. he first project is one that shows a different use for ric rac ribbon in an 1' this is easier to work with but you can use the smaller widths. I created a tutorial that show two different types of flowers using one ribbon.

Supplies Needed:

Ric Rac Ribbon - 1

Needle & Thread

Embellie (Center)

Step 1: You want to line up the loops so that it is even and then either sew or burn the edges together

Basically you will end up with it looking like the image below

and you will have a complete closed circle of ribbon

Step 2: Now you are going to sew or weave the thread - Notice where I am point the needle on the left side of the first weave - this important as you will repeat these steps

See where I am sticking the needle for the second entry - now you will repeat these step on each downward facing loop. The ric rac ribbon basically loops up and then down - you want to sew on each side of the downward loop

Complete this all the way around and it ends up looking like the image below - notice how it is stitched or where the entry points are located

Step 3: Now you will pull the string - it starts gathering and forming loops as you pull

Once totally done it will look like this - you want to arrange and position the loops

This is a look from the bottom - turn it over and you get a totally different look

Add a center and this is your complete flower

Turn it over and this is the other side flower - simple right!!

The pink is a little easier to see the bottom side of the flower

May Arts also carries an amazing VELVET ribbon that can be used as well.

My 2nd project I made some minis and using Solid Wrinkle ribbon as added embellishment. This is a crinkle that is available in different widths - great for minis, cards and more.

This wood album is the gatefold one. Super easy to paint and decorate love the wood.

For my 3rd project:

Now this is one of my absolute favorite. I used a star template from Kreaxions and found a complete unique way to make a bow for presents, cards you name it. It is very easy to make I did a tutorial. This is May Arts Faux Canvas it has a unique feel to it much like canvas and was perfect for this project. I have tried it with a variety of May Arts ribbon and they all give you a different look. It is better to use a thicker ribbon for this bow - even though you can use all of them some will not be as stiff or sturdy I should say.

Step 1: Trace you the star template onto a thicker cardstock - for durability

Step 2: Cut a circle through the center by lining up the circle cutter make the circle 1.5 inches as shown below by using positioning the pencil tip in the hole on the star template

This is what it will look like and also number the template as shown this is the pattern you will follow for weaving the ribbon

You will weave under then through positioning the ribbon on the number 8

looks like this

Step 3: start winding the ribbon around the pointed tip following the numbers 1-8

When completely done it will look like this - you will repeat these steps 4 times

Turn it over and what else do you see! A flower you can use this by just placing a center and get another flower - you will leave the ribbon wrapped on the cardstock to keep its shape - Beautiful huh?!!

Step 4: Either staple or use stick pins through the center - this is what keeps the ribbon from unwinding - I would staple but could not find my heave duty stapler so I substituted the stick pins

Step 5: Start popping the ribbon off the corners

Ends up like this

Step 6: Now start pulling the ribbon layers apart

Well here we are again on another Wednesday just a few more days until the weekend. Right now the weather here in Florida has been rainy and humid but I always try and remember things could be so much worse. So my post for today is about enjoying all life has to offer, being carefree and enjoying every moment. I created this Hop tag and the GI Hot Air Balloon went perfect.

I added a Hope chipboard sentiment painted it with some gesso and used some Memento ink, added some Prima flowers and a butterfly. I thought all the elements were perfect in represeting being free especially the balloon, which is on my bucket list of to do's before I meet my maker lol.

More than a Punch

Hi everyone Monica here with another way to use your amazing Kreaxion punches. I punched out a border with the Kreaxion 307 punch and I stared and stared and stared and stared to try and see something new. Aha I finally saw it. I absolutely loved the way the punch looked liked petals from a flower. So I figure out a way to do just that - Make a Flower.

I cut in between each piece on the border for the petals and then I glued it to a based to form a flower.

What is cool - if you look close in the center it forms a almost flower when you piece them together

Canvas and Stamps...

Hi I hope everyone has recovered from the amazing Memorial Day weekend. Mine was filled with friends, family and lots of good food! Of course there is always crafting go on too... Today I am sharing something a little different. I want to show how versatile stamps can be by using them on your canvas pieces. I used Great Impressions Whimsical Clouds. I stamped it in black and what is cool is this stamp has a sort of mixed media look to it. If you look close you can see little splotches/speckles lol hard to explain.

Then I outlined the cloud with a white gel pen to make it pop off the canvas - LOVE IT!! It goes along with the whole image of clouds and the hot air balloons.

Smiling Whale!

Easy Background!

Hi everyone Monica here with another hump day Wednesday post. I just love Wednesdays because it means the week is almost over woo hoo!! Today I am sharing a tag I made by using a background stamp from Great Impressions for an amazing look. I made the background by using the Scroll & Leaf stamp.

I colored the leaves in with Stickles to give them a nice glittery look and also added the Tags stamp you get 4 phrases with this set and I used You're Special for my tag.

Hi everyone Happy Wednesday everyone so who is ready for a challenge!! I am and this definitely was a challenge for me. Today with SweetStamps the technique for the day was to make a flip-flop or as some refer to as a swing card. I have never actually made one of these types of cards so it was definitely challenging. So today I am challenging all of you to make a flip-flop or swing card too.

Morning everyone and Happy Belated Mother's Day to all the amazing mom's everywhere. I hope everyone had a great weekend spent with family and loved ones like I did. I went out to eat so much I am still trying to digest all the food I engulfed! lol but I always mange to find time to craft. I actually made a "manly" card I don't do nearly enough as I should but I wam trying to change all that this year and here is my first attempt.

Instructions

Once your done going around the entire circle your finished piece will look like this

I then used the same punch and punched along the straight edge

I used the border for the front of the card

Slide the flags to open the card up

When you open the card I used the leftover piece as an additional border

Open the other side and this is where I used the punched out doily piece.

Hi everyone Monica here with my first official post as a Great Impression DT or GI Girl! I am super excited to be on a team of such amazing women. Today I am sharing a card I made with this Lace Doily stamp. I love the design of this stamp. I used it to make a background for my card with some Close to my Heart ink a flower, sticker sentiment from Papercrafts and some ribbon from May Arts to dress it up.

I altered a wine container and I use these to store miscellaneous craft items I have.

Creating with Leftovers!

Hi everyone, Monica here with a mixed-media project to share with you. I know how amazing the Globecraft jewelry pieces are and so today I want to show you what else you can do with them. Punch out the pieces from the bookboard and then what you are left with is an amazing stencil for mixed-media projects.

Materials:

Monica Edwards
Simply Monica

Flower Drop Charms
Molding Paste
Spray mists, paints and/or inks
Canvas
Heat tool

Step 1: Using the bookboard backing as a stencil, drag modeling paste across the opening using a spatula.

This is what it will look like.

Step 2: Place the punched-out charm piece on top of the modeling paste image and apply heat with a heat tool.

The heat causes the modeling paste to bubble and give a nice texture.

Step 3: use color mist sprays, paints or inks to color.

Final piece.

Happy Monday everyone Monica here and today I am sharing a card I made with Kreaxion punch 307. A little about it Kreaxions. These are 4-1 punches that you can make multiple things with: borders, doilies, rosettes and the list goes on.. You get additional pieces with each punch that allows you to make varied punched out designs.

Now for my project I made a card with Kreaxion 307 and the circle stencil. I used the stencil to line up the punch for making the doily. I punched the doily in 2 sizes for layering. I then made a quick flower and stamped a sentiment.

For my project I created a mini using a hinge binding system. To me it is new because I have tried so many times to use hinges but you would not believe how many times it comes out wrong so for me it is new and I finally was successful. This mini is from Gina's Designs the front actually is a simple frame but I adhered it to some think plastic to form a page and then the pages were cut by Gina that is what is so nice. If you have n idea she will help you bring it to life, she is in the US and shipping is FAST!!

Thursday Technique!

Happy Thursday everyone one more day and its TGIF!! Woo hoo so excited. Today I am sharing something different from the norm. This is something that has become popular amongst some crafters its altering wood - yeah sounds boring for sure. When I first heard it I was like ok wood, not! Well I love doing it now especially since I love altering things and how cheap is a piece of wood right.

Now the embellies on it are resin pieces I made from earrings and the key is a charm I only had one left so I molded another one and then painted them with CI Paints. Added some Graphic 45 papers and a butterfly and I was sold on altering wood.
