With each new trailer released for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel our list of questions and theories grows, and even a single image out of context gets our minds racing over potential plot twists. Thankfully, Warner Bros. and DC Comics have provided some answers.

The Man of Steel prequel comic that just last week confirmed the existence of Supergirl a.k.a. Kara Zor-El in Snyder’s universe has now been released; and the inclusion of Superman’s cousin is the least shocking truth revealed in the comic’s pages.

Normally prequel comics or tie-in graphic novels are intended to expand on a film’s plot, or help fill in small gaps and backstory. But in this case, with the story provided by ...

Click to continue reading ‘Man of Steel’ Prequel Comic Answers Some Big Questions

Everyone expected The Fast and The Furious to be a popular movie, but no one expected it to spawn five sequels with a sixth now in theaters. While the general movie-going public undoubtedly watches the films for their action the series has also proven popular with “gearheads,” – i.e., car guys and street racers who watch the films to see their favorite exotic cars onscreen.

If it’s exotic cars you’re looking for, then you’ll find them in spades in Fast and Furious 6, as there were over 400 cars from all walks ...

Click to continue reading ‘Fast & Furious 6′ Car Guide – 25 Hot & Exotic Vehicles From the Movie

Epic takes place in the heart of the forest, where the universal war between the forces of good/evil, life/death and light/darkness unfolds on the smallest of scales. That task of guarding and protecting the woods falls to the Leaf Men, an army of tiny human soldiers that are tiny enough to be able to ride hummingbirds and leap about like grasshoppers. On the opposite side are the Boggens, a nasty race of similar pint-sized creatures that drain the life-force from anything they touch.

The enthusiastic and eccentric Professor Bomba (voice of Jason Sudeikis) has spent years studying the forest’s miniature inhabitants – in an effort to prove their existence – which ended up costing him his career and, eventually, his marriage. Bomba’s estranged 17-year old daughter, Mary Katherine (Amanda Seyfried), who goes by M.K., ...

Click to continue reading ‘Epic’ Review

The first month of the summer movie season is gearing up for a potentially record-breaking box office take, with both Fast & Furious 6 and The Hangover Part III released this Memorial Day weekend. However, lest we forget, there are still a ton of big-budget thrill rides heading to theaters in the coming months. Each week, audiences are faced with loads of new options for what they can spend their hard-earned cash seeing on the big screen.

However, as competition continues to gain momentum, it’s more important than ever for studios to push the films they have coming out in mid and late summer and get them established with the general movie-going public.
We first heard concrete news of yet another big-screen adaptation of a classic TV series – namely, 60′s spy romp The Man From U.N.C.L.E., which has languished in development hell since the 1990′s – quite some time ago. Wedding Crashers director David Dobkin was originally named as director, with a script by Max Borenstein.

Not long after that, Steven Soderbergh was reportedly on board to helm the project from a script by Scott Z. Burns (Side Effects), with George Clooney eyed for the lead. Clooney then abandoned the project, and while the film was left on the ever-busy Soderbergh’s back-burner for quite some time, he too eventually bowed out.

Now, Deadline reports that Cruise has left the project in order to focus on Mission: Impossible ...

Click to continue reading Tom Cruise Exits Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’

Fans of late-night political comedy program The Daily Show will have to do without long-time host Jon Stewart this summer (correspondent John Oliver will be keeping his seat warm during Stewart’s three-month break), but not because he’s going on vacation. Taking the first step into a new branch of his career, Stewart will write and direct a true-life drama, Rosewater, which he will also co-produce alongside Scott Rudin (The Social Network, Moonrise Kingdom).

The film is based on journalist Maziar Bahari’s memoir, Then They Came For Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity and Survival, which he co-wrote with Aimee Molloy. While covering the 2009 Iranian presidential elections, Bahari was taken prisoner and held for ...

Click to continue reading ‘Motorcycle Diaries’ Lead to Star in Jon Stewart’s ‘Rosewater’

Man of Steel may be one of the riskiest films of the year, but it’s also one of the most-talked-about releases of the summer movie season. The film is faced with rebooting the character following both the enormous success of The Dark Knight trilogy and the disappointment of director Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns.

For months, speculation has run rampant regarding exactly how Man of Steel will help Warner Bros. and DC finally launch a shared movie universe, and star Henry Cavill himself has offered his hopes for a Batman-Superman team-up in the near future.
Most killers in Hannibal tend to stick to the shadows, leaving behind gruesome trophies as a calling card or evidence of their mastery over other humans. And although most seem intent on eluding capture for as long as possible, a common theme begins to emerge that’s not at all uncommon, even amongst non-psychopathic folk: the concept of legacy and the meaning of being recognized for an accomplishment.

In ‘Trou Normand,’ the series takes a look at the meaning of not merely creating a legacy and ensuring ones prominence in the thoughts of others, but controlling the conversation, swaying it in a particular manner and, ultimately, changing what people think. These are common ...

Click to continue reading ‘Hannibal’ Season 1, Episode 9 Review – Piece by Piece

Bryan Singer tossed X-Men: Days of Future Past back into the spotlight yesterday, announcing via Twitter that he and studio Twentieth Century Fox have cast yet another key mutant character after the film had already begun shooting in Montreal.

Evan Peters of American Horror Story fame is playing the super-fast son of Magneto known as Quicksilver, a character that Joss Whedon is also currently planning to introduce into the Marvel Cinematic Universe via The Avengers 2. While we don’t quite yet know the implications of Singer’s latest roster addition when it comes to the two studios using the character, he does have bigger plans for Days of Future Past than fans may assume.

Between 1952 and 1994, 38 Formula One drivers were killed on the track in World Championship races. The story of the last of these deaths, that of Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna, was told in the BAFTA-winning 2010 documentary Senna and received wide critical acclaim. This means that Ron Howard’s new biopic, Rush - which recounts the famous rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda, and the devastating crash that left Lauda with severe facial scarring – has a tough act to follow.

Senna’s death acted as a wake-up call for the FIA, who subsequently tightened up safety restrictions on both the cars and racetracks of Formula One, and as a result there hasn’t been a single driver fatality in a contemporary Formula One car since. In the 1970s, however, when Hunt and Lauda were in competition, the nature of Formula One was almost gladiatorial ...

Click to continue reading ‘Rush’ Trailer #3: Lies & Death on the Formula One Racetrack

Many fans of Sam Raimi’s initial Spider-Man trilogy were skeptical when – only five years later – director Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) delivered The Amazing Spider-Man to theaters. Some balked at the thought of rebooting the franchise so soon after Spider-Man 3, while others were hopeful that this new version could rectify the mistakes of that previous film and give the character a fresh start.

Reaction to The Amazing Spider-Man may still be a bit mixed, given the film’s tendency to tread on a bit too much familiar ground regarding the origin of everyone’s favorite friendly neighborhood webslinger. However, one point that most fans can agree on is that ...

Click to continue reading ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′: Jamie Foxx on the Spidey Legacy; Teases Comic-Con 2013 Plans

Star Trek Into Darkness is the rare well-received followup to a critically and financially-successful franchise blockbuster that hasn’t outstripped its predecessor at the box office (so far). It’s possible that a backlash against J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars-ian take on the late Gene Roddenberry’s sci-fi franchise is to blame; or, more likely, the film’s marketing campaign – which was so focused on preserving secrecy around the film’s villain – didn’t really get audiences properly excited.

Regardless, Into Darkness ticket sales have been quite healthy during the first couple weeks of release ($184 million worldwide), with openings in several foreign markets to come. So, there’s no reason to believe that Star Trek 3 – ...

Click to continue reading Rumor Patrol: Joe Cornish Shortlisted to Direct ‘Star Trek 3′

Fast & Furious 6 picks up after the successful Rio heist in Fast Five, with Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew having given up their lives of crime, spending their hard-earned (read: stolen) money jet setting, wooing supermodels – or in the case of Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker), adjusting to fatherhood. All seems well until Diplomatic Security Service Agent, Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), tracks Toretto down, requesting the team’s assistance in stopping an international terrorist – in exchange for full U.S. pardons.

What better way to find out if you’re ready for fatherhood, than to find out that you’re already a father hundreds of times over? That’s the premise of Dreamworks’ new comedy, Delivery Man, which is about a middle-aged man facing a rather unusual mid-life crisis.

Vince Vaughn plays David Wozniak, a forty-something underachiever who finds out that, as a result of donations that he made to a sperm clinic over two decades ago, he has unwittingly fathered 533 children, 142 of whom have filed a class action lawsuit in order to find out the identity of their father. This news comes shortly after David’s girlfriend (Cobie Smulders) tells him that she is pregnant with (though she does not know it) his 534th child, and expects him to step up to the plate and be a ...

Click to continue reading First Teaser For ‘Delivery Man’: The Man Who Accidentally Fathered 533 Children

In the upcoming comedy We’re the Millers, small-time pot dealer David (Jason Sudeikis) is offered $100,000 from a drug kingpin to transport what the kingpin calls “a smidge” of weed from Mexico across the U.S. border. As a single man, David believes he is more likely to be spotted and searched while crossing the border, so he creates a faux family by hiring a local stripper (Jennifer Aniston) to play his wife, a runaway teen (Emma Roberts) to play his daughter and a neighborhood boy (Will Poulter) to play his son. Posing as “The Millers” on a family vacation, they then set out to collect the weed and David’s money, but of course, things go horribly wrong along the way.

A week in film news is not complete without another report of a reboot or remake, and since 80s action properties have been thoroughly harvested, Hollywood seems to be plowing through to the 90s. Moving on from remakes of Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicles (for now), the next action hero with a remake in development (without his involvement) is Jean-Claude Van Damme’s Timecop.

THR reports that Universal is looking to make a re-designed version of Van Damme’s 1994 time-traveling action movie. Directed by Peter Hyams and based on the Dark Horse comic book mini-series, Van Damme played the eponymous time-traveling police officer (in the future of 2004) tasked with stopping criminals who abuse the technology. He runs afoul a corrupt politician (Ron ...

Click to continue reading Universal Planning To Remake ‘Timecop’ Without Jean-Claude Van Damme
