Warcraft Addon Review: Bartender

2015-03-06T15:21:00.001-07:00

For our first Addon Review we are going to look at my right hand of WoW. Bartender.

Bartender is a addon that has been around for a long time. According to Curse Bartender comes to us from a Nevcairiel; who also is listed for other mods; gathermate, handynotes, omen threat meter, and quartz.

The customization of this mod is the high point for me. You can really do a lot and set it up to your needs by character. Lots of option for size on icons and really a lot of options. A player can make it very simple and basic or very extravagant with borders. The set up can be time consuming, however with the amount of customization options, that is expected. This mod also plays nice with many other mods, especially the ones that you can move around anywhere.

I like mine in a rectangle format so I can keep most of my middle screen clear. This is on my laptop, my desktop has a much bigger screen and I am able to spread things out. This mod is also really good for those of us who like things smaller or bigger for whatever reason. I used to also make the rows I used more frequently larger than the others. But now I just prefer everything I can use or like to use to be quickly accessible.

Some Interesting Layouts I found via Google Search (giving me ideas!)

This mod is one of the faster ones updated after patches and expansions. I have never had to go without or have any compatibility issues. The only issue I have ran into with this mod is sometimes I forget where I put something or have a tendency to over clutter my screen. But that is more of a Personal Problem (PP), than a development issue.

The Ratings

User Friendliness: 9.5

Updates/Compatibility: 10

In Game Application: 10

Setup: 9.5

Appearance: 9

Overall: 9.5

I highly recommend this add on for all players; casual, pvp, and hardcore.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR! Mount

2015-02-15T15:15:00.001-07:00

Love is in the air. After slacking on the event... and skipping all but 4 days about of the dailies... I made my grind count! Pet and Mount. one character. WOOT WOOT! I now have my flock! I took the method of slaughtering the podlings around the garrison... you know the really creepy carnivorous plant people. I must have killed over 1000 of them.. My bottom is quite sore from sitting on it so much... Regardless... SUCCESS!!!

Here is a link to turning in the tokens. My mic is really low... got to figure that out still.

Toddler Gaming

2014-06-16T10:44:00.001-06:00

My son wants to do anything and everything my husband and I do. This includes games. So lots of searching and trials I have found a couple games he really likes. Lego duplo trains and food. The games have puzzles, animals, matching, numbers, and building. I have found they are great for when you have to wait in public... Like at a restaurant... Or need a quite activity. Interesting about the Legos is the same sets are real toys used in the games. So needless to say my son is realllly into Legos now!

Don't judge... just giggle. I like simulations, making characters, having pets, creating towns/countries, building houses, watching social interactions, tactics.. and taking photos.

Gaming and Parenthood.

Gaming and Parenthood

So many times when I game I feel guilty when I let my 2.5 year old son sit next to me while I play. This is a good thing. No matter what he is my first priority. Sure I should do things for myself... Enjoy some games. But not at any expense of my child. So how do I play games.

So how do my husband and I get some gaming in?

1. Nap time... Oh sweet nap time. My 2 hour block of self time!!!

2. Bedtime. Got to be careful with this one and not over do the time frame. Have to be up and awake for my kid. But another 2 hours is fine.

3. Scheduled self time/Taking Turns/Sharing. We all need time to ourselves. Gaming time can be an outlet. I take a little time each week to game with my husband, if I do not have school work, while my parents watch our child. Quality grandparent time for them.... Gaming and hubby time for me.

4. I include my son in almost all cleaning and daily chore activities. This helps really give us down time. And work becomes play.

5. If I play games when my son is awake it is always something I can just drop and never 100% in. I can still watch him and not worry about ninjas ganking me.

6. Moderated inclusion. Give the boy the wheel controller to the wii on or off and he is playing with mommy and daddy!

Even if the game play is scheduled and put into my wonderful Google calendar of life that includes everything from Grant's schedule, work schedules, school schedules, appointments, and all other aspects of life.... That looks much like a bunch of skittles threw up on my screen. But oh well. We are having the time of our lives right now raising our child. If gaming fits. Great. If not... Oh well. Is it really that important. Sure it is very nice. But not at the expense of not being there for my son.

With a more relaxed schedule and more grandparent time, you may or may not see more gaming updates. ;D

ReWow!

2012-12-14T07:40:00.001-07:00

Sooo I am re installing wow... I feel guilty and excited about this.. when I left I felt great... as the game does take up a lot of time. But I was also sadden by all the time I had spent on those characters, especially Jezi... and then poof gone.. well fortunately in Azeroth if you leave... you can choose to come back. So hoping its like starting a whole new game! But I am not playing a panda.

Beta Character Shots (SWTOR)

2011-12-08T18:04:00.000-07:00

Overall the character creation is 'sufficient,' meaning not developed enough for me personally... but I think it will be enough for most players. By far the cyborgs have the most customization ability. Different races have specific aspects that pertain to them such as tattoos, markings, etc. However they all seem to have the basics in hair, hair color, face shapes, skin tones, and scars. The one thing I would like to see better is the facial shapes as in the beta and probably in release it was only a slider with maybe 20ish facial choices... yes whole face packages... I wish there was an advanced button to at least adjust the nose and eyes separately.

Human (Made to look like my Hubby hehe)

Pure Blood Sith.. what my main will probably look like

Mike made this guy... they kind of creep me out..

but they have a lot more customizations

I thought I would dislike this race..

but I am actually happy how she looks and may play as one.

Mike's BH probably what his main will look like!

SWTOR: Beta

2011-11-13T10:58:00.000-07:00

Soo... My husband got into the beta.. and we think I did as well.. as I was signed up over 2 weeks before him.. but probably deleted the email.. ops. ugh! Fortunately he was nice enough to let me play. I am hoping that he will give me enough time to get to lvl ten.. but I'm the dumb ass that deleted my emails... So I am not holding my breath.

So far I am lvl 7 playing a Sith Warrior. The story line that I am playing and the ones I have watched from him (Bounty Hunter & Sith Inquisitor) all seem very well put together. I like the way they have the area set up so no one else can enter your main story line and kill the quest beasts/people and mess it up and make you wait. Loading time on all the quests and stories for me has been minimal. Seems to be very fast loading and the story progression is very interesting.

the combat system is a bit different than what I am used to and took a bit to get a grip on.. but fortunately the first 3-4 levels are incredibly easy. So there is a learning curve. The movement is easy and fits a lot of game's common basic controls.. Which is sooooo nice.. you won't have to relearn a lot of short cut keys!

The game overall gives me a KOTR & Mass Effect feel.. yes the console games we all loved. The choices when you speak to people are extremely fun.. and I would imagine it will allow people to feel as if they are really developing a character. I'm currently playing my little Sith Pure Blood Warrior as pretty much as Evil as you can get. So There are typically 3 options.. which I would assume are light side/neutral/dark side in conversations and choices.

Graphic wise.. the graphics are suitable.. not out of this world rocking.. but great to good and seems to be easy to load. The character customization in creation is not as in depth as I would desire.. but I have high standards in that department.. spoiled with sims and Aion lol! It has more options than 'most' mmorpgs or is comparable to. I would anticipate most players will find it satisfactory as its not over loading options.. but has several to chose from.

My only complaint thus far is just a weird graphical glitch in the bracers.. looks like a scarf hanging from the wrist.. So really for a Beta.. the game seems to be flowing very well. I am defiantly going to play. It also seems as of now a game I could play for a good bit.

More to come later! School and cleaning to do! Hopefully I can play some more!

Free Games

2011-10-08T13:16:00.001-06:00

So since quitting Warcraft for the time being.. I have found various other games to play for free..

Yes FREEEE.. Free is good.. however.. typically there is always a catch like better items/higher levels/all achievements.. which yes sucks.. but meh what the heck.. I am holding out for SWTOR (which I preordered Yesterday).. I have found two pretty decently entertaining sources for my gaming needs; Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/) and then little games on Facebook (Facebook.com)

Game Number 1: Spiral Knights

http://store.steampowered.com/app/99900/

This is a pretty simple dungeon slash and bash pew pew game. It fulfills my need for the whole distress/arcade... pretty much button mashing and basic game.. but its cute and free.

Game Number 2: Alliance of Valiant Arms

http://store.steampowered.com/app/102700/?snr=1_200_200_Free+to+Play_103

For a 'free' FPS.. This is pretty good in my opinion.. of course for the cool items and unlocks they want you to pay money.. but for a temporary fix or the simple need to play an FPS and have that PVP void filled it works really well. The PVP is quite fun and the ranking system makes almost perfect sense to me.

Game Number 3: Champions Online

http://store.steampowered.com/app/9880/?snr=1_200_200_Free+to+Play_103

So this is a good idea.. but you can only play certain specs and have a limited amount of skills and costumes.. If you played the non free version it is not quite as fun as i would imagine just starting as free is.. But you can do a lot for 'Free' and get your mmorpg fix in.

Game Number 4: D & D Heroes of Neverwinter

http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=156366727771379

Very fun and addictive. A nice dungeon crawl game that you can play alone or add other people's characters. The nice thing about this game is you do not 'have' to bug your friends.. sure sending gifts and sharing is nice.. but you do not have to have all that spam on your FB page!

Game Number 5: The Sims Social

http://forum.playfish.com/forumdisplay.php?f=449

This game is incredibly addictive.. It reminds me of a simplified sims 1 but its cute.. and free and entertaining. Be careful tho as you will loose track of time.. and you do have to spam your friends..

(which is really the only bad thing that I have found with it.. trying to delete all those posts on my wall after I have checked the request..)
