Sadly, this is Screenterrier's last post.

It's been a great eight years (8 years??!! How did that happen??!) and I am proud of what Screenterrier has achieved, a platform to celebrate the achievements of young acting talent, and proud that those rising stars that we have spotted over the years are still working in the industry, and their talent is being recognised by wider and wider audiences.

With the rise of social media, particularly twitter, it is now much easier for aspiring young actors to access information on castings and productions. Many casting directors now have an online presence and can reach out directly via twitter or facebook, when the production’s requirements are to look outside of the usual casting channels and hold an open casting.

I’d like to thank our advertisers and all the casting directors who have supported the site and recommended Screenterrier to their fellow casting professionals.

But most of all I’d like to thank all the young actors and readers of the site without whom it wouldn’t have been worthwhile or possible. I know you’re all still out there, working hard, and I’m rooting for you!

First look at Christopher Robin

After an extensive open casting search, young newcomer Will Tilston, was found to play the part of Christopher Robin, in the feature film biopic of Winnie The Pooh author A.A Milne.

With a working title of Goodbye Christopher Robin, he stars alongside Domhnall Gleeson as his father, the author, Margot Robbie as his mother Daphne, with Kelly Macdonald, Stephen Campbell Moore, Alex Lawther, Richard McCabe, Nico Mirallegro, Geraldine Somerville and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

The film gives a rare glimpse into the relationship between beloved children’s author A. A. Milne and his son Christopher Robin, whose toys inspired the magical world of Winnie the Pooh. Along with his mother Daphne, and his nanny Olive, Christopher Robin and his family are swept up in the international success of the books; the enchanting tales bringing hope and comfort to England after the First World War. But with the eyes of the world on Christopher Robin, what will the cost be to the family?

"I'm thrilled to finally see this fascinating story be realized with such an array of fresh and exciting talent," said producer Damian Jones, while his co-producer Steve Christian added: "It's such a joy to be able to share the long held passion that I've felt for this story and to see it all come together with a team that I could never have dreamt possible."

Written by Frank Cottrell Boyce and Simon Vaughn, the film is directed by Simon Curtis, with as yet no release date announced.

Doctor Who spin-off Class set to debut 22nd October

The new BBC young adult Doctor Who spin-off series Class will be available on BBC Three from Saturday 22nd October.

Current Doctor Who Peter Capaldi will join the cast of exciting new talent in the opening episode of the series For Tonight We Might Die, followed by the second episode The Coach with the Dragon Tattoo.

The new series is set in Coal Hill Academy, a school which holds some very dark and deadly secrets in its shadows. As the new term starts, students are preparing for their Autumn Prom. But when the school comes under attack, four alienated students must form an unlikely alliance to defeat them. And this incursion is only the beginning.

Charlie (Greg Austin), April (Sophie Hopkins), Ram (Fady Elsayed) and Tanya (Vivian Oparah), assisted by their physics teacher Miss Quill (Katherine Kelly), are charged with a great responsibility by the mysterious alien known as the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) to guard against the creatures of nightmare that want nothing more than to find a way through to Earth and take it for their own.

Commenting on his involvement with the new Doctor Who spin-off series, Peter Capaldi, said: “The Doctor Who family is growing, and it’s fantastic to be able to welcome the young new cast of Class in to the Whoniverse.” Check out the young cast here.

In addition, an exclusive world premiere of the first episode will take place at Rich Mix on Thursday 20 October, the home of Coal Hill Academy, Shoreditch, with doors opening at 6pm.

Meet the young cast of City of Tiny Lights

City of Tiny Lights is a noir inspired London thriller directed by Pete Travis, based on the novel by Patrick Neate which stars Riz Ahmed (currently to be seen on Netflix starring in the much-acclaimed The Night of), Cush Jumbo, and Billie Piper.

As the film moves through present day multicultural London, it also cuts back to Tommy's youth in 1997, telling the story of his friendship with a lad called Lovely (Antonio Aakeel), his mate Stuart (George Sargeant) and his growing love for Stuart's girlfriend, Shelley (Hannah Rae).

The filmmakers spent almost five months searching for the youngsters, cast by Celestia Fox. Beyond conventional casting methods they trawled youth clubs, theatre's and schools in search for the perfect young ensemble.

Playing the younger Riz Ahmed is newcomer Reiss Kershi-Hussain (represented by Shepherd Management) who had no previous acting experience before being cast as the impressionable young Tommy.

18 Year old Hannah Rae represented by Sainou plays the beautifully enigmatic Shelley (adult version played by Billie Piper.) Hannah will be seen next in Broadchurch as David Tennant's daughter Daisy. She is currently in training at Central School of Speech and Drama.

Antonio Aakeel (represented by Identity Agency Group) from Birmingham, plays 17 year old popular playboy Lovely (adult version portrayed by BIFA winner James Floyd.) Antonio has featured in E4’s Skins and will be seen next in BBC One’s three part drama Three Girls directed by Philippa Lowthorpe.

Gang leader Stuart is played by George Sargeant (represented by DAA Management.) George is best known as TJ in Eastenders, son of Patsy Palmer.

These talented youngsters join Riz Ahmed, Billie Piper, James Floyd, Cush Jumbo, Gandhi star Roshan Seth and newcomer Mohammed Ali Amiri in a fantastic ensemble piece.

City of Tiny Lights will have its European premiere on October 13th at London Picturehouse Central and is due a cinematic release early 2017.

City of Tiny Lights is produced by Ado Yoshizaki Cassuto of NDF International and Rebecca O'Brien from Sixteen Films. BBC Films and BFI developed the script and financed the film in association with Lip Sync productions, Fel UK and Ingenious Media.

Crooked House

12 year old Honor Kneafsey stars in the leading role of Josephine in a new feature film adaptation of Agatha Christie crime novel Crooked House, which has just started filming in London.

Honor (represented by A&J Management) has just filmed on Isabel Coixet's The Bookshop and is known to TV audiences for her roles in Our Zoo and Benidorm.

She will star alongside Max Irons, as private detective Charles Hayward who is invited to solve the gruesome murder of wealthy and ruthless tycoon Aristide Leonides, poisoned in his own bed. Nobody is above suspicion, including Sophia (played by Stefanie Martini, who has just filmed the role of Jane Tennison in Prime Suspect prequel Tennison) Hayward's client and former lover.

The cast also includes Terence Stamp as a chief inspector and Christina Hendricks, Glenn Close, and Gillian Anderson as members of the dead man’s household.

Gilles Paquet-Brenner will direct the ensemble cast from a script written by Downton Abbey and Gosford Park writer Julian Fellowes.

"We are thrilled to be bringing Agatha Christie’s ‘Crooked House’ – one of her own personal favorites, and one that has never been filmed before – to the big screen," producer Joe Abrams said.

Young British rising star lands lead role in George Clooney film

11 year old Noah Jupe is set to co-star opposite Matt Damon and Julianne Moore in Suburbicon, a black comedy being directed by George Clooney.

He will play the son of a man (Damon) who hatches a plan to kill his wife in order to be with the woman’s sister (Moore), with whom he’s having an affair. Unfortunately, his 8-year-old son catches on and turns the whole plan upside down.

Noah (represented by Shepherd Management) from Cheshire, is the son of Coronation Street star Katy Cavanagh. He was recently seen on BBC’s The Night Manager opposite Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie, and in ITV's Houdini and Doyle.
He already has a number of films completed this year including sci-fi film The Titan., Third Reich thriller HHhH, and That Good Night.
Noah is currently shooting Wonder, Lionsgate’s adaptation of the R.J. Palacio YA novel with Julia Roberts and the young star of Room, Jacob Tremblay.

Based on a script by Ethan and Joel Coen, Suburbicon is due to start shooting in Los Angeles in October.

American actress Jaylen Barron leads the cast of a 'horse mystery' drama series (working title Hat Hair), being produced by Lime Pictures, which will be available to Netflix members worldwide in the Spring of 2017

Jaylen stars as 15 year old Zoe, an American teenager who's life changes forever during her star at Bright Field Stables when se meets the mysterious horse 'Raven'. Their deep friendship gives her the strength to face certain rites of passage head on whilst exploring new relationships. Zoe’s inspirational journey will show audiences that life is all about falling off – and learning to pick yourself up again.

With a thrilling mystery unravelling around her, the complex relationship Zoe develops with Raven gives her the grit and determination to master her riding skills and ultimately discover a passion for horses and a strength to face the rest of life’s challenges.

The series also stars Game of Thrones star Kerry Ingram (represented by Sainou) as Becky, Manpreet Bambra (represented by CAM), who starred in CBBC's Postcode and The Dumping Ground, newcomer Bruce Herbelin-Earle (represented by RKA Talent) a 19 year old French/British actor based in London, and Celine Buckens who played Emelie in Steven Spielberg's War Horse.

He is witty, sharp and has intelligence beyond his years but also mixed with an immaturity and vulnerability that frustrates him at times.   The arrival of CHRISSY brings an added excitement to his complex life, and a much desired need for as much love and adoration he can muster.

We are looking for an intelligent and confident young actor with great versatility who can capture the complex layers that make up this dangerous young mind.

Complex, strong and willful , there is also an insular and defensive side to Chrissy, in particular with her fractious relationship with her father. Arriving with her dad in a new town to stay in her grandmother’s house. Chrissy has to start a new school and go through all the humiliations that brings, but this is where she will meet the enigmatic SAM and a romantic relationship evolves.

MUST BE OVER LICENSING AGE -   14/ 15 year old Oscar struggles to make any form of impact in the school hierarchy, an intelligent and warm boy from a comfortable loving family, school chess champion, Xbox supremo, studious.  His world lights up when SAM takes a liking to him, Sam pulls out all the stops to build Oscar’s confidence, teaching him to swim and dive, making Oscar’s hero worship sky rocket. This blossoming friendship will come at a terrible price when Sam’s murderous fantasies begin to focus on the adoring Oscar.

The BBC announced today at Edinburgh International Television Festival an adaptation of Malorie Blackman’s critically acclaimed young adult novel Noughts and Crosses.

The enthralling story of first love in a dangerous, adrenalin-fuelled fictional dystopia is to be adapted by Levi David Addai with Matthew Graham for a new BBC One series, produced by Mammoth Screen.

Divided by their colour but united by forbidden love and burning injustice, Sephy and Callum are fighting for more than simply the right to be together, in a contemporary dystopian State where strict race laws make daily existence a matter of life and death.

Sephy is a ‘Cross’, a member of the black ruling class and daughter of a prominent politician. Callum is a ‘Nought’, a white member of the underclass who were once slaves to the Crosses. The two have been friends since early childhood but that’s as far as it can go for Noughts and Crosses must never fall in love. Against a background of prejudice, distrust and powerful rebellion mounting on the streets, a passionate romance builds between Sephy and Callum which will lead them both into terrible danger.

The adaptation is based on the first book in the Noughts And Crosses series for young adults, which has won the Red House Children’s Book Award and the Fantastic Fiction Award among other accolades. The author, Malorie Blackman OBE, was the Children’s Laureate from 2013 to 2015.

Malorie Blackman said of the announcement: "I am beyond thrilled that Noughts and Crosses will be dramatised by the BBC - it couldn't have found a better home. Callum and Sephy seem to have meant a lot to readers over the years and I’m excited at the prospect of watching them on my TV!”

The Bookshop casting news

Filming has started in Belfast on The Bookshop, an adaptation of the Penelope Fitzgerald novel by writer/director Isabel Coixet, about a woman, Florence Green, played by Emily Mortimer, who decides, against polite but ruthless local opposition in a small town in 1959 England, to open a bookshop. A decision which becomes a political minefield.

Honor Kneafsey stars as Christine, Florence's 10 year old bookshop assistant. Honor (represented by A&J Management), starred in the BBC drama Our Zoo, and went on the join the cast of Benidorm.

A casting call was posted on Screenterrier to find the other young star of the film, a red-headed boy. 10 year old newcomer Harvey Bennett (represented by Purple Giraffe Casting) landed the part, in his first screen role.

The film stars Emily Mortimer as Florence Green, with Patricia Clarkson, and Bill Nighy. Charlotte Vega plays Kattie with James Lance as Milo North.

The Bookshop is a coproduction between Spain and the United Kingdom and is produced by Diagonal TV and Zephyr Films. It shoots for 5 weeks initially in Belfast and then on to Barcelona.

New Channel 4 teenage drama Ellen

Jessica Barden stars in Ellen, a new feature length single drama from Channel 4, developed as part of Channel 4’s commitment to new talent, and marking the debut of breakthrough UK female talent: writer Sarah Quintrell and director Mahalia Belo.

23 year old Jessica (represented by Curtis Brown), one of Screenterrier's original teenage rising stars, was most recently seen in BBC Two's one-hour drama Murder, as well as award-winning feature The Lobster.

The new 90-minute film is a powerful, prescient story of a tough teenager, 14 year old Ellen, trying to take control of her chaotic life, but forced to grow up too quickly.

Newcomer Yasmin Monet Prince stars as Kayla, who is befriended by Ellen and becomes a form of escape. The pair form a deep friendship with the kind of unshakable intensity forged by teenage girls. But just as she’s discovered a sense of fun and freedom with Kayla.

Skins and Game of Thrones star, Joe Dempsie (represented by Troika) plays Jason, who challenges Ellen's loyalties to Kayla. He's older and cooler than Kayla, he really seems to like Ellen and no one’s ever ‘liked’ her before. Should she stay true to her amazing new mate or step into the unknown with Jason?

Whilst Ellen’s dad is absent with his new family, her mum, played by Jaime Winstone is oblivious to her. She’s more concerned with playing host to a variety of shady characters who hang around the house at all hours than listening to her daughter. Leon (Charlie Creed-Miles), a seemingly omnipresent mate of her mum’s, has his eye on Ellen. But with no one looking out for her, where can she turn?

As well as giving a platform to a brand new writer and director, Ellen boasts an array of new talent behind the camera, with its director of photography, editor, production designer and casting director all female first-timers. The music was composed by Jonathan Hill, also marking his broadcast drama debut.

Sarah Quintrell, writer said "I wanted to write about what it's like to be young, poor and female. I wanted to look at the human being behind the statistics - what does a vulnerable girl really look like? The film explores this through a female friendship that is compassionate, funny and full of joy.”

Piers Wenger, head of Channel 4 drama said: “Ellen is a powerful, incredibly prescient and visceral film – a proper gut punch. On top of its poignancy as a piece of drama, it is fantastic that on a practical level it’s given so much breakthrough talent the chance to shine and make their mark on Channel 4’s drama slate.”

Philip Trethowan, executive producer said “Mahalia Belo’s beautiful realisation of Sarah Quintrell’s powerful script and some captivating performances have created a film that will stay in the mind for a long time. It’s a testimony to what can be achieved when new talent is given a chance.”

Ellen was developed and produced by Touchpaper TV, a Banijay UK company, for Channel 4’s Coming Up scheme which finds and develops new talent. Ben Bickerton is the producer and Philip Trethowan is the executive producer. It was commissioned for Channel 4 by Piers Wenger.

Filming begins on Hank Zipzer Christmas Special

Filming has begun in Dewsbury, Yorkshire this week on a feature length Christmas special of CBBC’s popular series Hank Zipzer.

The 90-minute film 'Hank Zipzer’s Christmas Catastrophe' joins Hank (played by Nick James) in the run up to Christmas as he prepares for a new baby brother. But Hank’s life never runs smoothly and soon Miss Adolf (played by Felicity Montagu) is turning Mr Rock’s Rudolph the Rock’n’Roll Reindeer into a one-woman Christmas Carol – two school inspectors are getting injured in a bizarre sleighing accident and Mr Joy (played by Javone Prince) is trying to cancel Christmas altogether. In his attempt to drag triumph from the glittering jaws of doom, Hank will ice skate into disaster, nearly crash a Christmas tree into a crowd, get himself and his best friends arrested, get his favourite teacher sacked and lose the love of his life. This time, he really has let everyone down. Surely even Hank can’t get out this one. Luckily for us, there’s no way to tell Hank that.

Hank will once again be joined by Henry Winkler who will revive his role as Mr Rock, Hank’s favourite teacher.

Hank Zipzer’s Christmas Catastrophe is produced by Kindle Entertainment in association with Walker Productions and DHX Media with support from Screen Yorkshire’s Yorkshire Content Fund, and based on the book series written by Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver.

The writer is Joe Williams and the director is Matt Bloom.

The comedy drama, which has already enjoyed three hugely successful series on CBBC and iPlayer, follows the life of Henry ‘Hank’ Zipzer and is based on Henry Winkler’s own experiences as a young boy growing up with dyslexia, Hank is a boy whose glass is half full, but he just spills it everywhere. His brain works differently to those around him, and he has a great imagination, but doesn’t always see eye-to-eye with his parents and teachers. But, despite the daily challenges he encounters, Hank always manages to stay positive – and focused on his next masterplan… tomorrow is another day!

Jamillah and Aladdin returns for second series!

Magical drama, Jamillah and Aladdin, returns to CBeebies this August for a second series.

This modern retelling of the Middle Eastern Aladdin tale, stars Blossom Campbell as Jamillah, Aladdin is played by Wilson Radjou-Pujalte (who recently starred in BBC’s drama series Dickensian as the Artful Dodger) and the Genie by Leroy Osei-Bonsu.

Jamillah, a feisty young girl seeking adventure, lives with her family in modern day London where she discovers a dusty old lamp in the attic and makes a wish. A Genie appears and, with the help of his magic, the two travel back in time to Ancient Baghdad, where Jamillah meets Aladdin, a boy the same age as her, who always seems to be getting himself into trouble.

The second series sees the friendship between the three protagonists blossom, with more exciting adventures in store. In the opening episode of the second series, the grieving Sultan decides to ban fun, and so Jamillah, with the help of her comrade Aladdin, tries to bring happiness and harmony back to Baghdad by the seemingly simple act of making the Sultan smile. But as the pair find, this is not an easy challenge...

The series is produced by Emma Stuart, the directors are Catharine Cooke and Jaco Smit, and the Head Writer is Kathy Waugh. The series was filmed on location in South Africa and consists of 26 x 15 minute episodes, which will be shown on CBeebies from August 2016.

Meet the young Jane Tennison

RADA graduate Stefanie Martini has been cast as young Jane Tennison, the role made famous by Helen Mirren in the acclaimed Lynda La Plante crime drama Prime Suspect.

The much-anticipated prequel - Tennison, has begun filming on location in London.

Stefanie (represented by Troika), graduated from RADA last year, and has previously featured in TV dramas Thorne, Endeavour and Emerald City. The new series follows the young Jane Tennison at the beginning of her career, revealing why she became such a complex and formidable character in the Metropolitan Police.

Rosie Day (represented by Troika) will play Jane's sister Pam, whilst Nick Sidi and Geraldine Somerville are cast as Jane’s parents, Andrew and Joyce.

Sam Reid and Blake Harrison also star as Jane’s superiors DCI Len Bradfield and DS Spencer Gibbs.

The producer is Rhonda Smith and the series director is David Caffrey.

The 6 x 60 minute series is written by Lynda La Plante, based on her book Tennison. Prime Suspect ran for seven seasons from 1990 to 2006, and won two Emmys for Helen Mirren.

Casting for a small 12 - 14 year girl to play a young Barbara Windsor in a BBC single drama.

BABS - A 90 minute single drama for BBC1.

Set in the 1990s, BABS will tell the heart-warming story of Barbara Windsor. BABS is written by Tony Jordan and will air next year on BBC1 as Barbara approaches her 80th birthday.

We are looking for a girl with a playing age of 12 - 14yrs. MUST BE SMALL - Max height 5ft, with blonde/light brown hair.

Fun loving, sweet, characterful cockney with a real sparkle in her eyes - a believable younger version of Barbara Windsor. Capable of honest, natural and emotional scenes as well as the ability to sing confidently and dance/move extremely well.

Genuine London/Cockney/Estuary accent or must have the ability to do the accent completely believably.

Must be able to provide a London base for filming.

NB - Filming in October for 4 weeks.

Previous professional acting experience not required.

Stage School comes to E4

E4 is set to follow the lives of the students and teachers at the prestigious D&B Academy of Performing Arts in Kent.

Open auditions for the series were advertised on Screenterrier back in January. The 30-episode structured reality series called Stage School, will feature the ups and downs of 18 - 25 year olds trying to make it in the world of showbusiness, the bitching, back stabbing and romances, along with break-out singing and dance routines performed by the talented pupils.

Stage School will be full of high drama following the lives of the pupils as they attend West End auditions and put on shows to try and make their dreams of fame and fortune a reality. The series will see emotions reach boiling point as the pupils fight over career making opportunities, while trying to stay friends with the people they are in competition with.

Stage School is an E4 commission and will be made by Knickerbockerglory with executive producer Jonathan Stadlen and will air on E4 from September, date and time to be confirmed.

A brand new comedy series Wasted is coming to E4 which combines a gang of four twenty-something wasters, one West Country village and the ex-Lord of Winterfell!

Danny Kirrane (represented by Gordon & French) stars as the lovable fantasy fanatic Morpheus,who manages a bong shop, (Stoned Henge). A 25-year-old virgin, he’s massively into fantasy – Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, computers. He’s in love with one of his best friends, Alison, and has been since the age of about 5, he’s a bit of a loser, but he’s also got an inner strength.

Rose Reynolds (represented by Conway van Gelder Grant) plays his neurotic sister Sarah. Of the four she seems to be the one that is most likely to leave her hometown. At the beginning we find her planning to go away to India and then Kent arrives back from uni and that puts a a spanner in the works as they have a bit of a past.

Danny's secret crush is their mate Alison played by Gwyneth Keyworth, the quirky girl who runs a tattoo business out the back of the shop. Alison loves her home village and has no aspirations to leave it. Gwyneth (represented by Curtis Brown), was on of Screenterrier's Faces to Watch back in 2010, before she went on to train at RADA.

Dylan Edwards (represented by Independent Talent) plays Danny's cocky best friend Kent, who sleeps on the sofa, rent free, after returning from Bristol where he spent a year, in his words being 'a world class DJ'!

Together the four have been living in each other’s pockets since school and aren’t moving anywhere fast. But Morpheus is a dreamer, and his dreams take the form of his hero Sean Bean, who appears in full Game of Thrones medieval garb, as Morpheus' personal spirit guide, to help him navigate the rough seas of wasting your twenties....

Wasted has been made for Channel 4 by Angel Eye Media, the Executive Producers are John O’Callaghan and Richard Osborne. It is produced by Phil Bowker and directed by Tom Marshall (Chewing Gum, Drifters). The six episode series is written by the triple BAFTA Award winning writing team James Lamont and Jon Foster.

Of the series Channel 4 Comedy Commissioner Liz Lewin said, “We can’t wait to bring a bit of Westeros to Wiltshire with the Wasted gang’s adventures. Their exploits across the series are hilarious and ludicrous in equal measure – the perfect mix for an E4 audience”.

Meet the new young star of Absolutely Fabulous

15 year old newcomer Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness joins the cast of Absolutely Fabulous to star as Lola the teenage daughter of Saffy (Julia Sawalha) in the new movie spin-off from the popular TV series.

This is Indeyarna's screen debut, after playing Young Nala in the West End musical a few years ago. She is now represented by United Agents,

In series five of the TV show, Saffy gave birth to a girl from her Ugandan lover in series five, with Eddie (Jennifer Saunders) declaring her mixed race granddaughter a fabulous fashion accessory, calling it “the Chanel of babies!” Called Jane by her mother, this was soon changed to Lola by Eddie.

The casting call back in June last year was looking for 'a mixed-race 13-year-old girl for a pivotal role in the film, someone who is self assured and cool and naturally finds her mother embarrassing but her Granny amuses her'.

Absolutely Fabulous was filmed on location in the UK and the south of France, and is now in cinemas in the UK and Ireland.

Apple Tree House

Two new child actors are set to star in Apple Tree House, a brand new 30-part drama series set around an inner-city estate bursting with life, coning to CBeebies.

Aamir Tai will star as Mali, an ordinary boy who has just moved on to an extraordinary inner city estate, where he meets his new best friend Sam, played by Miranda Sarfo Peprah, the daughter of the estate’s caretaker. Together with their friend Bella, played by 7 year old Summer Jenkins, they solve daily problems and overcome childhood dilemmas - all within the safety net of their loving families and the inspirational Apple Tree community that surrounds them.

As well as the two main children the audience will be introduced to a wealth of diverse and supportive characters, including Mali’s grandma Zainab (Shaheen Khan) and Sam’s father Kobi (William Vanderpuye), plus a host of other family members, friends and neighbours, all with very different backgrounds who help Mali and Sam on their adventures around the estate.

Greg Boardman, producer, said: “Whether it is in Mali’s family flat, in Kobi’s caretaker shed or out and about in the Apple Tree neighbourhood, each new day brings an opportunity to have fun and discover something new as the children engage with friends and fellow residents. There is always something to be learned - Mali and Sam’s wonderful everyday world provides the perfect backdrop.”

Kay Benbow, Controller of CBeebies, said of the new series: “Apple Tree House embodies all that CBeebies stands for - a sense of fun, curiosity and adventure, as well as sharing valuable life lessons in responsibility, kindness and being a good friend.”

Apple Tree House has been developed for television by award-winning Rastamouse producers Eugenio Perez and Gregory Boardman and has been created by William Vanderpuye (one of the key vocal talents behind the Rastamouse series), Maria Timotheou and Akindele Akinsiku. The series will also feature original songs and a soundtrack from Andrew Kingslow, the composer behind the Rastamouse music.

The 30 x 15 minute series goes in production in early July and will be filmed at Three Mills Studio and on location in East London. It will be broadcast on CBeebies next year.
