Honeytrap is a new urban feature film inspired by true events. The film looks at gang culture from the perspective of a teenage girl and is set to shoot in London this summer.

Candid Casting are currently looking for a young Afro-Caribbean actress to play the lead role:

Honeytrap is written and directed by Rebecca Johnson who was named one of Screen International’s ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ in 2009 and has been making films looking at aspects of life in Brixton for the last 10 years.

In The Flesh to return for second series

BBC Three is to make an extended second series of Dominic Mitchell’s zombie drama, In The Flesh, following the successful three-part serial earlier this year.

Series two revisits the cauldron of Roarton where the living and the undead have reached a fragile peace. Luke Newberry will return as Kieran who, after the shocking events of series one, is hoping to get on with his second life, but the arrival of new and explosive characters throws those plans into disarray. Battle lines are drawn and all will be judged.

Writer Dominic Mitchell says: “I am absolutely delighted and thrilled to be given this fantastic opportunity to continue exploring the characters and world of In The Flesh.”

Zai Bennett, Controller of BBC Three, says: “In The Flesh was a fantastically original and engaging drama for BBC Three. I'm delighted Dominic and the team will be able to tell more stories from the riveting characters and engaging world they created.”

In The Flesh is made by BBC Drama Production North. It will film later this year and transmit in 2014 on BBC Three.

What We Did On Our Holiday casting news

Principal photography begins on new British family comedy, What We Did on Our Holiday, on the 17th June on location in Scotland.

What We Did on Our Holiday stars some of Britain’s best-loved acting talent including Billy Connolly, Rosamund Pike, David Tennant, Ben Miller and Amelia Bullmore.

Playing the three young children of Doug (Tennant) and Abi (Rosamund Pike) are:

Rising star 11 year old Emilia Jones (represented by ARG Talent) who played Alice in Channel 4's Utopia and was recently seen in an episode of Doctor Who. Emilia played Young Fiona in Shrek in the West End and is the daughter of singer and TV presenter Aled Jones.

The film also introduces newcomer Harriet Turnbull, and Bobby Smalldridge as Mickey in his first feature film role. Bobby played Small Boy in Billy Eliot in the West End and recently filmed an episode of Miss Marple.

The film, produced by Origin Pictures and BBC Films has received support from the National Lottery through Creative Scotland and will be shooting on location across Glasgow and the Highlands.

The latest offering from the creators of BBC hit comedy Outnumbered, What We Did on Our Holiday is described as a heart-warming and uplifting comedy, telling the story of an ordinary family trying to survive in extraordinary circumstances.

Written and directed by the co-creators of Outnumbered, Guy Jenkin and Andy Hamilton, the film is produced by award-winning Producer David M Thompson alongside Dan Winch in his first Producer role.

Here's the synopsis:
Doug and Abi are taking their three children on a trip to Scotland for a big family gathering. They are in the midst of a difficult divorce, and have asked the kids to keep it a secret from their extended family. But as the inevitable feuds kick in, a completely unexpected turn of events involving the children causes further tensions to rise to the surface. And with the repercussions that ensue - hilarious and emotional in equal measure - the family are forced to put aside their differences and work together or else risk losing what they hold most dear.

What We Did on Our Holiday is scheduled for a 2014 release.

Produced by BBC In-House Comedy, Citizen Khan is a warm family comedy written by Adil Ray, Richard Pinto and Anil Gupta. Dennys Ilic

18 year old Australian actor Callan McAuliffe, who plays a teenage Leonardo DiCaprio in Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby, has landed the starring role in Our Robot Overlords, alongside Ben Kingsley and Gillian Anderson.

The story follows the tenacious, optimistic Sean (McAuliffe) who will defy an empire to find his father after robots invade Earth and occupy every street.

17 year old Eros Vlahos, one of Screenterrier's "Ones to Watch" from 2010, will play Nathan. Eros starred in Nanny McPhee and can currently be seen in Da Vinci's Demons.

16 year old newcomer Ella Hunt (represented by Piers Nimmo), from Devon, will play Alex.

Here's the synopsis:

Earth has been conquered by Robots from a distant Galaxy, survivors are confined to their houses and must wear electronic implants, risking incineration by Robot Sentries if they venture outside. In Robot occupied Britain, city centres are devastated and our gang of teenagers live in a seaside town constantly under Robot threat. Intimidating Sentries patrol the streets, Snipers are merciless death machines. The Mediator is deceptively childlike but unnervingly coercive. The Robot base is The Cube, a massive mother-ship that dominates the horizon.

The film is directed by Jon Wright and produced by Piers Tempest and Embankment Films.

Our Robot Overlords is set to start shooting on June 3rd in Ireland.

British actress to be Disney's Cinderella

British actress Lily James (represented by Tavistock Wood) has beaten off the competition to land the title role of Cinderella in Disney's upcoming live-action interpretation of the beloved classic tale.

The film is being directed by Kenneth Branagh and will star Cate Blanchett as the iconic evil stepmother.

Guildhall drama school graduate Lily James (represented by Tavistock Wood) received rave reviews for her portrayal of Desdemona opposite Dominic West in The Sheffield Crucible's production of Othello. She went on to play Ethel Brown in CBBC drama Just William, and star in athletics-based feature film Fast Girls, and is now based known for her portrayal of Lady Rose in Downton Abbey.

Filming is scheduled to start in the autumn for a 2014 release.

Sam Claflin is to star in Irish romantic comedy Love, Rosie – based on Cecelia Ahern’s 2004 novel ‘Where Rainbows End’ – alongside Lily Collins, set to start shooting in Dublin in May.

They will play Irish best friends Alex and Rosie, whose plans to go to college together in the US get complicated by Rosie's unexpected pregnancy. Although Alex is not the child’s father, the pair stay in touch over the next 12 years by letters and emails as their lives change and destinies unfold.

Sam starred alongside Kristen Stewart in Snow White and the Huntsman, and will next be seen playing Finnick Odair alongside Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Lily Collins played Snow White in Mirror Mirror and will appear later this year in The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones alongside Misfits star Robert Sheehan.

Also joining the cast is 11 year old Lily Laight (represented by Sylvia Young Agency) from Torquay. Lily plays a younger version of Elisabeth Olsen in upcoming Therese Raquin, as well as playing Amanda in the West End musical Matilda.

Other cast members of Love, Rosie include Tamsin Egerton, Suki Waterhouse, and Jaime Winstone.

Directed by Christian Ditter, the film will start shooting in Dublin from May to July.

There is an open casting for film extras this Thursday 2nd May at Filmbase, Curved Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, from 11:30am-5pm.

Casting announced for Woman In Black sequel

Jeremy Irvine and Phoebe Fox are set to star in The Woman In Black: Angel of Death, the follow-up to the worldwide box office hit The Woman In Black, which starred Daniel Radcliffe.

Jeremy (represented by Hatton McEwan) shot to fame when he was cast as Albert in Steven Spielberg's War Horse. He has since starred alongside Dakota Fanning in Now Is Good and as Pip in the film adaptation of Great Expectations. He is currently filming The World Made Straight directed by David Burris. His recent film work includes A Night in Old Mexico with Robert Duval, and The Railway Man with Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman.

RADA-trained Phoebe Fox (represented by Curtis Brown) who was picked as one of Screen International's Stars of Tomorrow 2011 for her theatre performances, recently starred as Grace in ITV2 witch drama Switch.

The Woman In Black:Angel of Death will continue the story four decades later, Eel Marsh House has been seized by the British government during World War II, and the sudden arrival of a group of evacuated children awakens its ghostly inhabitant.

Screenwriter Jon Croker (Desert Dancer) wrote the screenplay based on an original story by The Woman in Black author Susan Hill, and the film will be directed by Tom Harper.

Harper said: "Jeremy and Phoebe are fantastic actors to continue The Woman in Black’s chilling tale. I’m looking forward to working with them both on the film, and can’t wait to start shooting with the pair."

Raffey hits Hollywood

11 year old Raffey Cassidy (represented by Shepherd Management) is set to co-star in the top-secret and eagerly anticipated Brad Bird project Tomorrowland, opposite George Clooney and Hugh Laurie.

Raffey will play a young girl robot called Athena who, with Clooney’s character, a bitter inventor, attempts to get back to Tomorrowland, an alternative universe created by scientist Laurie, in order to save Earth.

Raffey’s previous credits include the title role in Molly Moon: The Incredible Hypnotist, Young Snow White in Snow White and the Huntsman, and Beatrice Selfridge in the ITV's Mr Selfridge.

Tomorrowland will shoot in Vancouver later this year.

First look at the Musketeers

Currently filming in Prague, Luke Pasqualino (represented by BWH), stars as the young D’Artagnan in the new BBC adaptation of Alexandre Dumas classic The Three Musketeers.

He's joined by Tom Burke as Athos, Royal Shakespeare Company-trained actor Howard Charles as Porthos, and Santiago Cabrera, who played Lancelot in Merlin, plays Aramis.

Tamla Kari (represented by Curtis Brown), who appeared in The Inbetweeners movie and starred in BBC Three comedy Cuckoo, plays Constance Bonacieux, who leads a dull but comfortable life married to a cloth merchant until it is turned upside down when D’Artagnan tumbles into her life, and she becomes involved with The Musketeers.

Set on the streets of seventeenth century Paris, where law and order is more an idea than reality, the series follows Musketeers Athos, Aramis and Porthos. They are far more than King Louis XIII’s personal bodyguards. They stand resolutely for social justice, for honor, for valor, for love – and for the thrill of it.
D’Artagnan, a skilled fighter from rural Gascony, meets the three Musketeers while on a mission to right the wrong of his father’s death. Although he meets the men in unfortunate circumstances, he finds kindred spirits in the other soldiers.
Athos, who has rejected his noble roots to become a Musketeer, has a past shrouded in mystery. He quickly befriends D’Artagnan, but is prone to getting in trouble.
Porthos is a larger than life character, who has come from humble beginnings to become a soldier in the most elite regiment in the land, finding a family in the other Musketeers. Never short of admirers, Aramis has an effortless charm which leads him in and out of love. Despite this, he is a shrewd pragmatist who is ferocious in battle and commands a key place in the brotherhood.

The cast went through extensive combat and sword training before filming began.

Adrian Hodges, who created the ten-part series, said: “The four actors look brilliant together and it seems like they have been working together for years. The camaraderie between them makes each action-packed scene exciting and authentic, and the image we have released today really encapsulates that."

The Musketeers also stars Peter Capaldi, Maimie McCoy and Hugo Speer and is expected to air in 2014.

Gangsta Granny

After the success of last Christmas' BAFTA-nominated Mr Stink, another adaptation of a David Walliams novel is coming to BBC One.

Gangsta Granny tells the story of schoolboy Ben, who is bored beyond belief after he is made to stay at his grandma’s house; all she wants to do is stay in and play Scrabble and eat cabbage soup. What Ben doesn’t know about his grandma is that she was once an international jewel thief, and for her entire life, she has been plotting to steal the Crown Jewels. Now, she needs Ben’s help…

David Walliams says: “Gangsta Granny has proved to be the most popular of all my books. It is an adventure story about two unlikely thieves, Granny and her grandson, Ben. It should make for exciting family viewing at Christmas.”

Gangsta Granny is David Walliams' fourth children's book. It was first published in 2011 and has since sold 430,000 copies. David’s other children’s books include his debut, The Boy In The Dress, Billionaire Boy and Mr Stink. Gangsta Granny is currently number one in the Children’s book chart.

Gansta Granny will be produced by Jo Sargent and executive produced by Mark Freeland, Head of BBC In-House Comedy. It is a BBC Comedy Production in association with Bert Productions.

The 1x60-minute comedy drama will film later this year for a Christmas transmission, with casting to be announced in due course.

Feature Film casting for a 16 - 18 year old female violinist

Casting Assistant Rae Hendrie is currently auditioning for a 16 - 18 year old female violinist for the feature film 'What We Did On Our Holiday', written and directed by Guy Jenkin and Andy Hamilton (creators of the BBC comedy show Outnumbered).

The part is non-speaking so any accent is fine but some drama experience would be preferable.

This will shoot from 17th June 2013 for 7 weeks although the actress chosen would only shoot for approximately five days during that time.

Katie Morag casting news

7 year old Cherry Campbell has been chosen as the lead role in the forthcoming CBeebies drama series, Katie Morag, out of hundreds of girls who auditioned for the part.

Cherry, from Glasgow, impressed the casting team with her striking similarities to the character of Katie Morag, both in looks and personality.

Don Coutts, director on Katie Morag, said: "We were looking for someone very special to bring Katie Morag to life and we’re confident that we have found that person in Cherry. We were looking for someone with energy, humour and courage to play the feisty wee character of Katie Morag and we think that Cherry has all three of these attributes in spades! Cherry has many happy memories of coming to the island where we are filming for her holidays and we're really looking forward to working with her in the months to come.”

The casting team searched the length and breadth of Scotland to find the right person to play Katie Morag with any interested children invited to take part in auditions in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stornoway. Cherry took part in the Stornoway auditions after being put forward by her parents David and Jill. She has connections to the Isle of Lewis, the location for the series, as her grandmother was born, and still lives, on the island.

Cherry said: “I was over the moon when I found out that I had got the part of Katie Morag and couldn’t stop jumping around! I have read all the books and absolutely love the stories. I’ve been coming to the Isle of Lewis on holiday for years and I can’t wait to go back there to start filming.”

The CBeebies series is based on the hugely popular series of books by Mairi Hedderwick which relate the adventures of this feisty red-headed girl who lives with her family on the magical island of Struay. The stories celebrate the intrinsic sense of community, the preciousness of the environment and the universal tensions and joys of family life.

Filming for Katie Morag's 26 episodes will start at the end of April on the Isle of Lewis and will continue until August, using both studio facilities on the island as well as the backdrop of the beautiful Hebridean landscape.

Produced by Scottish indie Move On Up, the series is expected to be shown on CBeebies later this year.

Tom Holland to star in In the Heart of The Sea

Just as the BBC starts filming in Malta on The Whale, its dramatisation of the ill-fated voyage of whaleship The Essex seen through the eyes of the cabin boy Thomas Nickerson (to be played by newcomer Charles Furness), Hollywood is hot on its heels.

Warner Bros are set to film In The Heart Of The Sea this year, another account of the story, adapted from Nathaniel Philbrick’s award-winning book In The Heart Of The Sea: The Tragedy Of The Whaleship Essex, about a whaling ship that was stalked and destroyed by a sperm whale in 1820, to be directed by Ron Howard.

According to Deadline, the 17 year old star of The Impossible Tom Holland (represented by Curtis Brown) has been cast as young Tom Nickerson in this movie adaptation, opposite Chris Hemsworth. Tom won the Critics Circle Young British Performer of the Year award for his portrayal of eldest son Lucas in The Impossible, and will next be seen opposite Saoirse Ronan in the highly-anticipated How I Live Now.

Filming on In The Heart of the Sea is set to commence this September in London and on location.

Kaya Scodelario joins the cast of The Maze Runner

Kaya Scodelario has joined the cast of The Maze Runner, Fox’s adaptation of the sci-fi Young Adult novel, the first in a series of books set in a post-apocalyptic world by James Dashner, directed by Wes Ball.

She's the fourth British actor to join the cast, joining the already announced Aml Ameen as Alby, Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Newt, and Will Poulter as Gally.

21 year old American actor Dylan O’Brien, star of MTV's Teen Wolf, is set to take the lead role of Thomas.

Kaya will play Teresa, the only female Glader and Thomas's best friend, who falls into a coma after arriving with a message that she's the last one, and speaks to Thomas through telepathy.

Kaya (represented by Curtis Brown in the UK) started her acting career as Effy in Skins and went on to star in Wuthering Heights, her most recent film Emanuel and the Truth about Fishes premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

The only cast member to appear in all previous six series of Skins, Kaya will return to E4 in Skins - Fire, one of the three individual stories making up the final instalment of Skins.

Rehearsals for The Maze Runner are currently underway, with shooting set to start in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in May.

The Whale

Newcomer Charles Furness is set to star in The Whale, a 90-minute BBC drama based on factual accounts of the sinking of the whale ship Essex in 1820, written by Terry Cafolla.

Charles (represented by A&J Management) trained with the NYT Rep company before landing this, his first screen role. He stars as Tom Nickerson, the fourteen-year-old cabin boy on the whale ship Essex, who wrote an account of the boat's sinking and the three months that the crew survived .

During her lifetime the Essex gained the reputation of being a "lucky" ship but she is best known for being attacked and sunk by a sperm whale in the southern Pacific Ocean in 1820. This tragic incident served as inspiration for Herman Melville's 1851 novel, Moby-Dick.

The young cast also includes 22 year old Jassa Aluwalia (represented by Independent Talent) as Owen Coffin, one of the sailors and a cousin of the ship's captain George Pollard, Jr. Jassa played David in the recent US TV adaptation of The Bible, and also played Rocky in BBC Three's hit new comedy series Some Girls.

And 21 year old John Boyega (represented in the UK by Identity Agency Group) plays Steward William Bond. John who rose to fame after starring in Attack The Block will next be seen in Half A Yellow Sun, currently in post-production.

Jonas Armstrong leads the cast as First Mate Owen Chase with Adam Rayner (The Hunted) as Captain Pollard, Paul Kaye (Game of Thrones, Stella) as Joy; David Gyasi (Cloud Atlas, War Horse) as Peterson and Jolyon Coy (The Hollow Crown) as Lawrence. and the drama is directed by Alrick Riley for BBC Discovery.

Made by BBC Factual productions, the action-packed narrative follows Tom Nickerson as, against all odds, he comes through the worst that nature throws at him, growing up fast in the process. He faces the destructive force of sea-storms, the power of whales, the brutal desolation of the sun and sea after the shipwreck, and finally the grim realities of dark deeds as his only means of survival.

Terry Cafolla, writer says: “At the emotional heart of the drama is orphan Nickerson’s coming-of-age story, where he meets three powerful male role models in the captain, the first mate, and a steward. As the narrative develops, his views on what makes a man switch dramatically as he sees how these role models respond under some of life’s most extreme pressures.”

The Whale is about to start shooting in Malta for five weeks, and will air on BBC One.

Filming starts on last series of E4's Misfits

Filming is about to start on the 5th and final series of E4's award-winning series Misfits.

The cast of series 4, Rudy (Joseph Gilgun), Jess (Karla Crome), Finn (Nathan McMullen), Alex (Matt Stokoe) and Abby (Natasha O’Keeffe) are all returning for a final stint of community service.

The new series marks the first anniversary of the storm and a support group forms on the estate for those people who find having a super power isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Like… the ability to knit visions of the future, or to shag unwanted powers out of other people (you read that right) or to transform into a turtle. And as Dark Rudy likes to talk-slash-moan, it should come as no surprise that he is the first of our gang to start attending. And it’s here that he sees a very different future facing the team - one which could change things forever....

Murray Ferguson, Chief Executive of Clerkenwell Films, says: “Misfits was a bold and confident commission that backed original ideas and new talent, quickly becoming a hit with its audience on E4 and around the world. Writer Howard Overman returns, with one of Screen International's Stars of Tomorrow 2012, 25 year old William McGregor directing the first three episodes.

The new 8 x 60 min series will be produced by Clerkenwell Films for transmission on E4 in autumn 2013.

Bypass starts shooting

It's been a long time in gestation, but shooting on Duane Hopkins' second feature film Bypass is now underway in Newcastle.

George MacKay leads the cast as Tim, in the film which is described as “a character-driven thriller set against the economic backdrop of contemporary Britain". 20 year old George (represented by Gordon and French), recently filmed on Dexter Fletcher's 2nd feature film Sunshine on Leith, and is next to be seen in How I Live Now opposite Saoirse Ronan.

He is joined by 20 year old Charlotte Spencer, who made her feature film debut last year as Steph, Will Poulter's love interest in Dexter Fletcher's directorial debut Wild Bill. Charlotte, who was a pupil at Sylvia Young’s Theatre School, started acting as a child - she was in the original West End cast of Mary Poppins, and is also the voice of Angelina Ballerina.

Produced by Third Films, the cast of Bypass also includes Ben Dilloway and Donald Sumpter.

Samm Haillay, producer and co-founder of Third Films (alongside Hopkins), describes Bypass as “a morality tale of society’s feared and forsaken. These characters struggle to balance their personal morality with the reality of the world in which they inhabit. We aim to create an visceral, exciting, highly distinctive cinematic world using the expressive visual language of the modern realist thriller - this is not about documentary.”

The shoot, which started on the 10th March, is expected to last eight weeks.
