Over 95% of people hear the word for the first time in their lives and ask me:

What is Screenwriting?

I then brief them about this exciting world.

So, screenwriting is the term given to screenplay writing. Don't confuse it with scriptwriting or script writing as screenwriting and script writing are two different mediums of media writing if not totally different. A script for a talk show, news, infotainment program, etc, whether on TV or radio, cannot be termed as a screenplay. On the other hand, a screenplay of a movie or TV program that is presented in a dramatic narrative with scenes and dialogues can be termed as a script. Why? Because a screenplay is a form of script and not opposite is the case.

Ok, But What Exactly Is There For Me?

Everybody whether consciously or unconsciously loves to share their experiences with others. Writing provides them that opportunity like no other activity. Besides novel writing, screenwriting is the form of writing that people love to pursue in highly developed countries. Besides, screenwriting is a fun activity; difficult, yes, a bit, but highly rewarding.

You will find information about Pakistani Film and TV Writers, Screenwriting In General, Screenwriting Products, Popular Filmmaking Products, Online Screenwriting Courses as well as the Screenwriting Services provided by Md Tabish Faraz right here on this website. You need to assess yourself and your interests in order to make the right decision, as there are many career options available today. However, if you are creative and you have a desire for a strong career option then you may give the entertainment industry a try. People have always amused themselves through
various forms of entertainment and this industry has been growing exponentially. In the United States, this industry has been more about 'industry' and less about 'entertainment', as any project is a combined effort of a large number of people.

The entertainment industry holds opportunities for everyone. There are many career choices available in this industry, which offer an excellent chance to satisfy your creative urge and put your talent to optimum use. There are options for people who want to work behind the scene as well as those who want to be in the limelight. You can take part in creating good entertainment in
any way you want, as there is place for all. The only factor you need to have is a creative bent of mind and a strong inclination towards art and entertainment.

Television And Movies: If you always dreamed of becoming popular and being in the limelight, then you can try for a career in this industry. If you have a penchant for acting, you can act in movies or television, or you can also work behind the scenes. You can become a part of the make up and costume department if you are interested in dress designing and make up. You can also work on building movie sets or writing scripts for movies and television.

Music: This industry can help you in making a promising career in this field. All you need is talent along with a passion for music. You can either work for distribution or production. On the production side, you can work as a music director, playback singer, songwriter and composer, musician or technician.

Production is for those who want to be involved directly in making good music. You can also work for music stores and radio stations in the distribution of music.

Designing And Animation: A creative hand and interest in designing can open up a career option for you in the entertainment industry. So if you are interested in creating characters through animation, computer graphics and web designing then a good opportunity is waiting for you in this industry. A good knowledge of digital graphic packages like Flash and Photoshop may land you in an animation studio where you can make the most of your creativity.

Dance: Dance and music are inseparable part of entertainment. This field has a lot of appeal and importance in this industry. You can be a choreographer or a back up dancer for any music group. If you have an interest in making costumes and equipment related to dance, then you can also make a career out here.

Print Media And Books: The opportunities that are available in print media are diverse. You can aspire to be a publisher, writer, reviewer or editor. The process that is involved in this media ranges from writing to publishing to printing and reviewing. Each process needs people who are not only talented but people who are creative and can deliver their best.

So if you thought that the entertainment industry had a place just for people who are vying for the limelight then it is advisable that you give it a second thought. This industry not only provides you career options directly related to entertainment business, but also presents many indirect opportunities as well.

You just need to have talent and dedication.

Tony Jacowski is a quality analyst for The MBA Journal. Films and television programs shape views of the masses, and if you learn to write great screenplays, you have your chance to tell the world how in your opinion the world should be. Who knows your points of view that you share with the world through your screenplays make this world a safer, peaceful place to live for all and you become the one who brings peace to the world in the near future? Whatever you experience and your unique point of view of them can help people to become ones with the hands and tongues of whom others can never get hurt. Thus the short answer is proved right.

As for the detailed answer, those who can and should or more appropriately must take these screenwriting courses are:

- Actors and Actresses
- Bankers
- Businessmen and Businesswomen
- Medical Doctors
- Folks who want to migrate to any advanced country or who are expected to get a visa soon.
- Government Officials
- Housewives
- IT Professionals
- Musicians
- People with an idea or ideas for movie(s) or television program(s)
- Producers
- Pensioned peoples
- Students
- Scientists
- Sportsmen and Sportswomen
- Writers who want to be screenwriters

Note: Females and minorities are especially encouraged to take these courses to be able to share their side of stories effectively.

Actors and Actresses:

Actors and actresses are sure to give award-winning performances if they know how screenplays are written because screenwriting helps them study the scenes, characters, and dialogues more deeply.

Bankers:

If you are a banker, you may be wondering what screenwriting has to do with you. If it is indeed the case, FYI some of the best screenplays ever written involve stories that revolve around banks, banking, or bankers. Shawshank Redemption is one great example. Bankers work within the banking system that is complicated for many people to understand and if there is anything as a banker you feel can be pointed out to bring improvements to the system itself or its understanding by the general public, screenwriting is your best bet which you can use to tell interesting stories that revolve around your profession.

Businessmen and Businesswomen:

It is a generally accepted thing that great entrepreneurs are always great storytellers. If you are an entrepreneur, you can share your unique business experiences with the world through screenwriting.

Medical Doctors:

A lot of films and television programs we see and like involve professional medical doctors or the profession of medicine in any way. Many screenwriters and novel writers often consult medical doctors to include anything related with the profession into their screenplays and novels. If you are a medical doctor, there is a high probability that there is something related with your profession about which you feel general public should know and telling those important facts to general public through screenplays is a very effective method.

Folks Who Want To Migrate To Any Advanced Country Or Who Are Expected To Get A Visa Soon:

If you learn screenwriting, you will have an additional skill that can help you in securing well paid jobs abroad. It is important that you know that there are many writing jobs abroad on the classified ads of whom you will find written “screenwriters preferred”, “screenwriters are encouraged to apply”, or something like just that.

Government Officials:

In many advanced countries, almost all Government officials after getting retirement from their posts start writing books about the unique experiences of their tenures. Whether you are retired or currently serving Government official, odds are there are some unique experiences of yours you would like to write about. Why not write some screenplays that have the chance of films and/or television programs being made on them.

Housewives:

For housewives, whether you are desperate or not, you sure are a housewife, and you must have your points of view to share with the world for betterment. These online screenwriting courses are ideally for you because you never have to leave your home to learn screenwriting. It’s really a win-win situation for you.

IT Professionals:

Some say that some of the world’s brilliant brains sit in the heads of IT professionals. Hollywood’s best sci-fi movies commonly include things that are directly or indirectly related to the field of information technology. If you are an IT professional, you can see your technology visions come to life just by learning screenwriting and writing screenplays that revolve around the technologically advanced world just how you envision it.

Musicians:

Musicians if learn screenwriting can write some of the world’s best musical screenplays on whom melodious movies and television programs can be produced. A win-win situation in the truest sense of the word.

People With An Idea Or Ideas For Movie(s) Or Television Program(s):

People who belong to this category just don’t need any explanation for their learning to write screenplays.

Producers:

Producers also work with screenwriters and screenplays. The more producers can understand screenwriting the more they are able to do their jobs in an impressive manner. It is a globally accepted things that screenwriting is for producers as well.

Pensioned People:

Canadians say that retirement from your employment is not the end of the world, it is the beginning of a new era. They not only say that, but act on it. Learning screenwriting is certainly something worthwhile to do at the start of this new era for pensioned people. Since they are very experienced, they have all what it takes to be a master screenwriter with little efforts.

Students:

Although everybody is a student of some kind, those who are generally termed as students are those who are young and energetic with lots of fresh ideas. For students, turning those fresh ideas into fully formatted and structured screenplays is a great effective way to move forward with those ideas.

Scientists:

Screenplays written by scientists, particularly of the sci-fi genre, sell quickly. So, if you are a scientist you have great prospects for succeeding in this business. All you need to do is just learn screenwriting.

Sportsmen And Sportswomen:

There are some movies that revolve around sports. If you are a sportsperson who often dreams of something huge happening in the world of sports and you feel that if that happens betterment is sure in the field, you can share that with the world and learn screenwriting to do just that.

Writers Who Want To Be Screenwriters:

Since we know that screenwriting is the basis of the major artform of the twentieth century, it is not difficult for any writer to imagine himself or herself being a part of history in the making.

WHY LEARN SCREENWRITING ONLINE FROM WRITERTABISH.BLOGSPOT.COM?

A lot of the times it happens that some unique, promising educational opportunity offered in one city or country cannot be utilized by the residents of other cities or countries, leaving a lot of potential masters of the field helpless.

To cope up with the problem all of the top educational institutions of the world have started providing online education. And following them on the path, I am offering the screenwriting courses online to make it easy for everybody from anywhere in the world to utilize what my screenwriting courses have to offer - a complete career plan with real, paid work opportunities through a brainstormed industrial system - which makes the screenwriting courses I am offering a lot different and a lot better screenwriting courses than those offered elsewhere in the world!

To know why the screenwriting courses offered here are better than those offered elsewhere in the world, go through the following in its entirety:

Many times we hear film and television professionals stating that our industry is short of good writers and that new writers should come forward.

This is the ’should’ that is the main obstacle. In order to remove the obstacle, I will place the photos and short bios of all of the successful completers of my screenwriting courses on a webpage that I have created on http://webspace.webring.com/people/em/mdtabish/

The main purpose of the webpage of mine is to bridge the gap between those who are in need of new, good writers and those who are new, good writers.

While getting listed on the webpage will be one hundred percent FREE OF COST for all of the successful completers of my screenwriting courses, some space on the webpage is reserved for those writers who already know how to write (format and structure) screenplays and scripts for providing them the opportunity to get enlisted on the webpage for a nominal fee.

Make no mistake about it. I will be utilizing my industry contacts and resources to heavily market the webpage in the circle of professional film and TV program makers, particularly those who say our industry lacks good writers.

This is not all the students of any of my screenwriting courses will get.

I have filed a petition in the registry office for the copyright registration of an event that is going to be the first of its kind in the country. The event is going to be called “All Pakistan Screenplay Competition.’’

All of the successful students of any of my screenwriting courses will have the opportunity to participate in the competition with their best screenplays 100% FREE OF COST. For other writers who know how to properly write (format and structure) screenplays can also participate in the competition in return of a nominal fee.

If you are thinking is it all you will get, you must be a very demanding person. If it is so, congratulations, you have what it takes to be the best in the industry.

To fulfill the professional passion of the demanding ones of you, and of even those who are not that much demanding, I take great pleasure and pride in announcing that the establishment of a private production company is underway.

Those who will win the biyearly All Pakistan Screenplay Competition will have their screenplays made into films or television programs and sold. Also they will get their payment for writing such great, competiton-winning screenplays. This opportunity is exclusively for those who will complete any of my screenwriting courses.

After completing any of my screenwriting courses, you can write screenplays in Urdu (for Pakistani industry) as well as in English (for Hollywood entertainment industry).

Since Hollywood is striding its boundaries, reaching worldwide audiences and expanding its business to almost every part of the globe, it is expected of the players of the Hollywood entertainment industry to be open and accept screenplay queries, and reportedly they are doing just that, from all parts of the globe including Pakistan.

All of my screenwriting courses teach you Hollywood standard parameters of writing screenplays. This means that the screenplays you will write after completing my screenwriting courses will be ready for submitting to different Hollywood film production companies. In my course “Selling Screenplays to Hollywood” you will be told different methods of selling screenplays to Hollywood as well as I will provide you the list of links where you can submit your Hollywood formatted and structured screenplays to.

My screenwriting courses are prepared keeping the special consideration in mind that even an utter idiot could understand them, and for intelligent ones, it’s a win-win situation.

Who Can and Should Take These Courses?

WHY LEARN SCREENWRITING?

There has never been a greater time for the screen industry. With tens of television channels and more to come, there is an increase in the demand of television content like never before as audiences for film and broadcast
entertainment are growing, demanding more, new and different experiences.

The development of digital technology has indeed meant a potentially limitless expansion of television, cable and satellite channels with the consequent airtime that needs to be filled. There is also the internet and the computer games industry now. The screenwriting opportunities are there to be grasped.

However, this has created an ugly situation in present time as whatever is getting produced is getting on-air – even the content that is not up to the mark. I am offering screenwriting courses to change all that. I am here to
make sure that the valuable viewers of the respectable satellite television channels get only the A-Class, quality programs to watch whatever channel they switch on. And this is exactly where you come in.

One of the benefits of learning Hollywood standard screenplay format is that 1 page of the screenplay approximately equals 1 minute on screen. And this is one of those things that will leave producers and financiers with no other options but to become your fans for making it easy for them to get the budget calculations and other production tasks finalized right from the screenplay pages written by you.

Why Learn Screenwriting Online From writertabish.blogspot.com?

Who Can and Should Take These Courses?

CREATIVE WEB CONTENT WRITING

Companies are becoming more and more aware of the areas of writing that a screenwriter can cover. Not only the aspiring and working individuals of entertainment industry are regarded as non-serious people, but the industry itself does not have any recognition in the chambers of commerce. The reason for that can be attributed to the poor performance of the entertainment industry in those global regions. Whatever the cause(s), it gets very difficult for the workers of entertainment industry to prove themselves as dedicated people and get a better job in the corporate sector at times when they are out of work due to the low number of the industry projects at any time of a year. Consequently, the workers have to do low-pay jobs and live their lives below the living standards they actually deserve or qualify. Read More

Here is an article by Tony Jacowski

Careers in Entertainment Production:
Ever considered a career in entertainment production? He has been a special script consultant to 20th Century Fox, the Disney Studios, Universal and Tristar Pictures. He is a creative screenwriting consultant to the governments of Austria, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, and Norway.

I chose to start the screenwriting courses page of this blog with the above statement by the guru just to give you a feel that once there was a time in the United States when there were literally no opportunities/institutions for learning screenwriting just like it is now in some countries of North America, South America, Australia, and Europe, and in most countries of Asia and Africa . Regardless of the unvailabilities of the learning sources in the United States many screenwriters who are considered legendary screenwriters today started studying screenplays by themselves and it is because of their passion for understanding American screenplays inside-out that we have some wonderful screenwriting courses today. And today everybody including you has the opportunity to learn the exciting craft of screenwriting.

“When I started writing, there were virtually no how-to-books, and no creative writing courses, let alone screenwriting courses. Now there are scores of books, and hundreds of courses some of which I have taught myself. I have even attended one of them, Robert McKee’s Story Structure course, and very useful I found it: ’Never take the ending out of the hands of the protagonist – push your hero to the limit’ – all that stuff we all know really, deep down, but can’t be reminded of too often. But by that time I was already established and successful as a writer."
- Andrew Davies
Screenwriter: Bridget Jones’s Diary - The Tailor of Panama
(The above statement of Davies is an excerpt from his foreword for a book by Ray Frensham, a script doctor, script advisor, and film and TV production finance broker, who regularly writes and lectures on screenwriting)

We are indeed very fortunate to have screenwriting learning opportunitites, especially when everyone of us know it very well that screenwriting is the basis of the major art form of the twentieth century – films and television programs.

As some of you are new to screenwriting and may be wondering whether you should consider becoming a screenwriter, Alan Bleasdale, one of the most successful and influential British writer working in British Television Industry today, has something to say to you:

“Every great writer was a new writer once – even Shakespeare.”

And I say:

“Every great screenwriter was a new screenwriter once – even Alfred Hitchcock, Charlie Kaufman, Stephen King, Sidney Sheldon, William Goldman, James Cameron, and others.’’

Why Learn Screenwriting?

Why Learn Screenwriting Online From writertabish.blogspot.com?

Who Can and Should Take These Courses?

Ad: Popular Filmmaking Products

CONTACT

Kindly use the form below to email me any queries you may have and/or to contact me with your offer(s). This, however, is an errorneous custom and needs to be changed as to depict our correct understanding of the two terms as well as leading the people who are unconnected to the industry terms to quote the terms appropriately.

Let’s begin to understand the difference between screenplays and scripts by having a look at the definitions of the terms used to refer to the writing tasks of the two types of entertainment industry documents.

Screenwriting (not Screen Writing):

Screenwriting, sometimes written as Screen Writing, which is no more a valid method of writing the term in almost all of the Hollywood but in few other parts of the world, is the term given to the task of screenplay writing.

Scriptwriting or Script Writing:

Scriptwriting or Script Writing is the term given to the task of script writing.

What most people should not do, but do is confuse screenwriting with scriptwriting or script writing. Although screenwriting and scriptwriting are not totally different, they are still two different mediums of media writing.

Here is what Film Terms glossary of the Babylon dictionary says about a screenplay:

A document text in a specific format which contains the dramatic elements of the film, as well as indications of other elements such as setting, light values, action, and, in general, everything which it is essential to see on the screen from the point of view of the whole narrative; in its relationship to the completed film, a screenplay is sometimes described as being analogous to a blue print of a structure. The analogy is true up to a point, but in fact there is no other kind of text which has the specific characteristics and constraints of a screenplay. And no other text which, when successful at attaining its goal--i.e., the finished film--effectively ceases to exist except as a historical and critical curiosity.

And here is what the Babel glossary says about a script:

A general term for a written work (and with special reference to the entertainment industry) detailing story, setting, and dialogue. A script may take the form of a screenplay , shooting script , lined script, continuity script , or a spec script.

Ad: Popular Filmmaking Products

Copyright (C) 2007-2008 M.d Tabish Faraz. The beginning (Setup) that is 22 to 30 pages long,
2. Middle (confrontation or conflict) that is about 60 pages long, and
3. End (Resolution) that is about 25 to 30 pages long.

But what most fresh screenwriters don’t seem to understand correctly and make a technical mistake in is the first act (the beginning or the setup) where their writing indicates their misunderstanding of the difference between the inciting incident and plot point I, the two major highs in the first act.

Let’s have a look at the definitions in order to make it easy for us to properly differentiate between the two screenplay elements and consequently be able to write Act I of our screenplays in the most effective way possible:

What is the Inciting Incident?

An inciting incident is the event that throws the everyday life of the protagonist out of balance. The event --

-- must NOT has to do anything with the will of the protagonist,

-- doesn’t necessarily have to be the reaction of something the protagonist did at the start of the screenplay, and

-- must NOT be the reaction of something the protagonist did in his life that existed before the start of the screenplay.

What is the Plot Point I?

Plot point I or the first turning point in a screenplay is the event that takes place either by the will of the protagonist himself or without his will and forces his circumstances to a whole new direction. The plot point I is the result of the inciting incident.

The above definitions of the two elements of Act I may make you think that the inciting incident is the biggest thing that occurs in Act I. If it is indeed the case, you are actually disagreeing with the screenwriting coaches who teach in screenwriting academic programs and those screenwriting experts who have written and published books on screenwriting as those screenwriting courses and books which talk about plot point I in details maintain that the plot point I is the most biggest thing that happens in Act I. And you know what? They are absolutely right.

Let me explain it to you.

Regardless of which one of the two appears to be the biggest event in Act I, it will remain the fact that plot point I is the biggest one of the two because it is the plot point I that turns the story into a whole new, more conflicting and progressive direction. Moreover, the inciting incident complements the plot point I and the case is not the opposite. In this regard plot point I is taken into consideration as the biggest event of Act I among Hollywood professionals.

Now that you are aware of the difference between the inciting incident and plot point I, it’s time now to start writing. So do it!

Copyright (C) 2007-2008 M.d Tabish Faraz.
