Sipadan water village holiday :D

This place is really a little slice of heaven on earth. If I had to envision heaven, it would probably look like this place.

On the 4^th July, my groupmates from west Malaysia and Sarawak all came to Tawau for a Sabah trip of the islands. We took them toMabul island, only 30 minutes of the coast of semporna.

The weather started of bad with heavy rain in the morning.We woke up at 5.30am, had breakfast at 6.30,
were on our way by 7.30 andreached semporna jetty at 8.45am. The boat to the island left at 9am. Howeverthe r and waves made it literally a very bumpy ride.

Thank God for seasick meds. I could feel butterflies in mystomach everytime my bum lifted of the seat as we rode off a wave only to landon another.

Upon reaching the island, the staff lined up at the jettyand were drenched in rain but still they greeted us with a smile. I preferumbrellas, but smiles are nice too. :D They explained to us where to leave our bags, the rules, the commondining area and its hours… then we were of to our little chalets.

Our chalets were a good 5 minute walk away and the rain letup, so we were able to take in the sights. Soooooooo amazing. My iphone shotsdo it no justice. Clear pristine waters, thousands of visible corals andrainbow coloured fish, endless sea into the horizon, sandy white beaches, lazychairs everywhere.. my kind of holiday.dive

After resting up a bit, we were taken on another boat rideat 2.30pm to Kapalai island for a bit of snorkeling. I just love the water, Iwish I was a stronger swimmer though.. then I wouldn’t need my life jacket. Butno one can predict the strength of the sea current. Sometimes a calm sea mayhave a vicous undercurrent. It was difficult to swim back to the jettysometimes, I had to put all my strength to avoid being pulled in the wrongdirection. But it was worth it coz I met up with elusive mr. Turtle. Yayyy~~

4pm and we were back at the dive centre. They provided usfree snacks and drinks. After that we went for a little tour of the island,soothed our aching muscles with a steamy dip in the Jacuzzi, and topped it allof with a bountiful feast of fresh seafood and fruits for dinner.

The good life. T_T *sigh*

That night I just couldn’t bring myself to sleep early nomatter how tired I was. My friends and I decided to catch up with gossip till4am on lazy chairs placed on our chalet’s veranda which overlooked the ocean.Even the moon and falling stars accompanied us.

Too bad there is no camera good enough to capture what oureyes truly sees.

The next day we woke up to a postcard.

No, not really a postcard, but something that could haveeasily been one. It really looked like paradise that morning.

OK talking bout scenery is never good enough. Piccas! But onlytru my tiny iphone. Friends with DSLR haven’t uploaded any pics on fb yet. Sothis wll have to do~

The Accident Virgin

I know ive been away from this blog for like 2 years now…. But a near-death experience just needs to be marked by something. So let it be a blog post.

Yep, the title may be a bit misleading. But this was actually one of the many things that ran through my mind after coming out of the car to inspect the damage I was partly at fault for(the other driver was freaking Tokyo-drifting around the bend) when I crashed into a landcruiser the other day.

All I can say was that im glad no one got hurt. They’re were 5 of us in the car and I was behind the wheel and if anything were to happen that day I wouldn’t have forgiven myself.

Although my friends kept telling me if was such a minor accident, (the bumper and left light was ripped off the Kelisa) it looked like a trainwreck to me. I could only shake my head in either agreement of disagreement with whatever they were telling me. I was in shock. My hands were trembling and I felt numb. It was the first time I had crashed a car after all.

Got me thinking, Kelisa’s are soo fragile. We are practically just sitting in a nicely shaped tin can. Give it a good kick, and u’ll find urself a big-ass dent. The landcruiser however (whhhhhy did it have to be an expensive car?) barely had any indication it was in an accident except for some scratches on one of the rims which the lady driver insisted I pay for (her hubby came over to the workshop to see the damage, was staring at it straight in the eye and said “where?”, then when she pointed it out.. he was like… “ooooo ini tidak bole nie.. mo tukar nie” kunun) FML. Rm600 terbang. Wuhuuuu~

I admit, it was my fault since it was her road I was driving into ( FYI, that simpang memang slalu eksiden org bilang), but it was definitely a blind spot to me because the left bend she was driving from was so sharp and hidden behind a hill that you would only see her coming at the last minute if she was speeding.

Ahhh! Nevermind la. What’s important is that nobody got hurt. Money can be found, but our lives are all precious. (still… that lady could have been more considerate though.. I am just a student after all.. seeing those little scratches on her rim made my heart go URHG!.)

As for the kelisa, well it will be getting a lotta new parts. YAY kelisa! You will be reborn! (T_T) Habisssslah $$$$~~~~

Out of this experience though, my groupmates who were travelling with me and in another car we rented were my source of strength during the whole process. They hugged me, assured me it was a minor accident, went with me to the workshop, bargained with the workshop people to lower the repair costs, almost fought with the lady about her rim, called an influential uncle to help, helped me with the costs in cash in advance, kept on patting my back, made jokes, made me laugh and smile again, blanja me makan and karaoke that night, bought a TOTO number of our car…. Etc… etc… I couldn’t have been more grateful to be blessed with such friends.

Another strange thing that happened though, the TOTO number that we bought, well we almost won!

The plate number of the Kelisa was LB 5357, what came out the next day was 5537. And another number that came out was the last four digits of my Russian telephone number, 0843. How weird is that huh??

Must be the luck of the Accident Virgin :D

what did i do today??

saw an amputation video in Operative surgery today... it was cool in a gruesome sorta way. A guy lost his thumb to a shark while on a diving trip and wanted so much to be able to hold his X-box controller again that he had one of his toes replace his thumb... *gasp*

looked really weird having such a long thumb but at least... i quote him... "I can now hold a beer bottle again" --- @_@

and did u know that if u do a esophagoectomy... u can actually replace ur oesophagus with a part of ur COLON??

yes... the part where ur feces is formed in the body can actually replace ur esophagus. :D

Now i know why Christina Yang is so obsessed with surgeries. do i see surgery as a future career????

hey2 bloggie...

i dont know why im feeling so hyped right now...

mayb its the anticipation of the coming Kursk Games!!

its on the 16th-18th of April.. less than a month now.. n i have mixed feelings...

on one hand i cant wait for it all to be over and done with

on another im in shock over the fact thats its only a month away and my netbal team still hasnt played fully as a team with all players

and... on another (do ignore.. i just have another feeling to add hehe) i so want to clench that Gold medal at the end of the day...

why??

not only are the medals purrrty~ but its also on home soil... so we must we must we must!

owh, n i'll also be playing on the futsal team this time around. And futsal is one the first day, netball on the 2nd. Pray i stay injury free... i wudnt wanna let my netball team down by becoming unfit.

n max says we might perform our kenyalang kinabalu for the Malam Perdana on the 2nd night.... i wonder in what shape i'll be in...

will i be able to get those bending-over-sideways-gracefully-twisting movements needed for the dance with muscle pain???

which is why i feel so itchy to just run run run... n keep fit...

i dont wanna dissapoint anyone by taking up more than i can handle...

christmas concert!

heya bloggie!

i just finished with out first practice for this coming christmas concert organized by WCCI on the 25th Dec. we'll be performing the "Joyful joyful" song from Sister Act 2.

fuh!~ im so pumped!

i love this song! i've always dreamt about how cool it would be to perform it.

1st practice went well i think.
everyone was so pumped as i was to perform this number. The dance moves are tricky n so cute when in-sync that is hehe~

i think at the end of it all.. confirm ampus la.

the only thing that worried me at first was that not everybody would be into this idea.. no semangat la.

but to my delight, everybody sang their hearts out n tried dancing those gila-babi-susah-dance-moves-at-first-sight(tx max ;p)... and it ended looking quite cute. us jumping about and all..

lets just see how it goes yea.

will definitely take a vid of our performance n post it here for u guys to see.

we might crash n burn~ but who cares??

I CANT WAIT! this holiday i so need to recharge my batteries for the 2nd half of third year.
im so excited..
hopefully we can get all of this confirmed as early as possible coz right about now the prices for all hostels and transportation adds up to about only rm2500.

10 days backpacking around europe!
im so excited!

If all goes well.. it'll be a Moscow-London-Manchester-London-Paris-Amsterdam-Moscow. According to tat sequence.
London Bridge(seen it before but still excited gila)-Old trafford(wiwiwiwiwi! im a MAN U fan btw)-Eiffel tower(im a bit acrophobic tho ;p)-Red light district(i gotta see this before they close it down!!!)
In that order.

some things just hit the very core of u and u cant explain it. no matter how hard u try n figure out wat is was about that sentence that struck a nerve, it just doesn't come to you... n ur left feeling hurt.

and no amount of 'making it up' takes effect.

a latent period starts and u just feel numb.

its something only a good shower and some chocolate ice cream can cure.

has anyone ever stopped to ponder on the little things in life?

like sleep??

owh wat pure bliss... to lay in nothing-ness, ur mind empty with an occasional sweet dream or two, breathing steady, just laying there motionless as u recharge urself for another day of 3rd year.

waking up.. i find.. is almost the most hardest thing. especially after a meager 4 hours of it. BOOHOO!

sleep o sleep~~~~~ where art thou??

actually 3rd year isnt all that bad. It only is when u procrastinate like i do and find urself upon heaps n heaps of overdue material that u wonder where all the time went.

1. Stop with the farm-cafe-fishtank whatchamacallit games on FB! they're addictive!

Full grown men find themselves planting oats and wheat and taking care of their little chicks and pigs and visiting other little farmers, raking leaves, fertilizing crops and so on so forth... happily!

2. DO NOT study with ur lappie on... Lappie on means internet's on.. which means MSN is on... which MEANS..... that u have a 99.9% possibility of meddling with ur com halfway tru reading Microbiology and the next day all that you can recall are the lyrics to ur bestie's "Natalie Louise Shim" 's new song.

btw nat.. i <3>

3. Be sure to have a well-stocked fridge. Studying takes up much glucose for the brain. Hence snacking is a MUST.

Snacking on fatty products is prohibited. We shall be smart AND sexy. Write this down.

4. I wish i had a no 4. Then it would seem like i thoroughly thought this thru.

3rd year's a bitch.

why do they have to cram everything into this particular year... everything medic-y is shoved in ur face right now.

n while i enjoy somewhat knowing every little mechanism that twinks our body... i have to say the load is getting to me.

n its only been 3 months.

exams will be hell.

i think im slowly fading out of existence.....

pray i survive this.

and sorry for being mia lately. but the free time i have.. i spend on cathing up on sleep.

ps : i've agreed to play for mygames netball n basketball tournaments. And im trying out for the futsal team apart from already being in the netball team. Im digging my own grave.

im backkk~~ been here in kursk for more than 3 weeks now..

coz im so lazy.. i'll just post these up..

nways its so hectic nowadays... 3rd year is no joke.

i dont know what i must have done wrong in my past life to deserve getting all the "good" teachers this semester.

i shudnt complain. these teachers of mine are strict and unforgiving and expect u to memorise word for word the topic.. then in class they just whip u up down and sideways.. in a way it makes us study.. but still~ the stress and fatigue can get to u.

thank God for these miracles of a day when classes are canceled to make way for a special occasion in kursk. A portrait of Mother Mary which was found here in Kursk 800 years ago has been brought back to its original place from the US... temporarily of course.. and processions will be taking place in the main streets to commemorate this historic event.

procession = main roads closed = no busses to hospital classes = x classes = rest = happy me :D

yipee~ so tats why im taking this opportunity to update on the latest happenings.

sorry for the long absence.

internet is no more fun for me when im so occupied with family n friends. i know wat ur thinking.. "awwwwww"......... but its true.

and since the 1st of August... bz with attachment in HQE, emergency dept.

so many things to tell.. so bloody tired.

oopps.

a little deprived of sleep

not because attachment starts at 8am (tats a reasonable hour), but instead due to the fact tat i have to reluctantly wake up at 5am n leave by 5:30am so tat mum n i can send lil bro to school by 6, then mum goes to work at 7... and im dropped off an HOUR early to the hospital..

during this time i read the newspapers very2 slowly and go through every article.. hence, im pretty upto-date with current events like mj's mum now has custody of his kids (not in any particular way useful info but still... i read the entertainment section first :D)

neway bck to topic

its so so so very interesting in A&E now.

in the beginning... i remember the hours spent standing trying to look bz when there are no cases in the ward, or the time when we first started and felt completely lost in a world where everyone is walking with a purpose and rushing to get something done and of course the leg aches from all that standing.

it took some getting used to.

the key is to be proactive. or in other words "kuat menyibuk"

some have this God-given talent while others have to jadi muka tembok jg la.

"errr.. nurse bole kami observe?"

"errr.. o.. apa skt dia ah?"

etc etc

at first i felt like i was in the way of their efficient workings.. but a few days into it.. i started to get into the groove.

gone is the shyness. in order to learn.. i shall be "proactive"

and the staff (MA,HO,nurses) have accepted our presence.

they even allow us to do more procedures now and we dont even have to ask anymore. they seem to want to teach these eager-to-please med students who trail them everywhere.

ive done several ECG's, BP and Pulse rate recordings and a few injections even (with supervision of course)

might seem like a small achievement to some.. but for me..

*SMILES ALL AROUND*

small baby steps hehe.

however observation wise is amazing.

i know i sound very jakun.......

but i just saw a little boy's head cracked open due to a falling brick that landed on his head and the part tat made me jakun was that the Doctor INVITED us to touch the fractured skull of the boy so that we could learn how it felt like. So 3 of us observing this boy slipped on some sterilized gloves and felt his fractured skull through his large open wound.

fuh. thats wat i call learning.

imma never forget that.

there were so many other cases... but im pooped.

all in all.. first week of elective attachment in HQE Emergency Dept has been fun and very educational.

arrghhh...

i feel like dying...

not because of this stupid virus.. yes funny story. who wud have thunk tat i wud get the swine flu. i must have the most sh**tiest luck in the world.

dun worry tho. im all well now.. symptom free.

wats killing me is boredom.. house arrest is no fun. so bored.. i suddenly felt like blogging which is a good thing.

sorry guys.. (especially ojoi) for not telling u.. there were days susah mo buka mata coz the fever was too much (pity me pls) ;p

and i dint even contract this virus from so-called h1n1 infested countries.. (i transited in korea.. but none of my friends got it).. so most probably i got it from my brother.. coz he's been hanging out with loads of friends who just came back from overseas, namely US and australia.

and not to mention i sat in a confined space with him(the car) for several hours.. as he coughed on and on. And suddenly i wake up the next morning in cold sweat, all feverish.

to make things worst, i wasnt able to meet azee n zella whom were here for several days after i arrived... n now they've flown back to shah alam.. n im left here all alone again with no hope of meeting my geng karas again... uwa~

sedih gila babi sdh nie.

to top it all off.. nxt year i'll be doing practicals in russia.. so mmg x akan clash lagi holiday kita.

so i'll see ya'll after 4 years ya!

DEPRESSION

it seems like only yesterday we were on our way to high school together... either ur dad or my dad would pick us up n send us because we live in the same housing area.

we gossiped, we shared our secrets, we laughed, we cried, we stayed over at each others houses.

we worried about our hair, we complimented each others styles (omg. fashion disasters way back then), we assured each other and promised to stay good friends eventhough we led different paths in life

u told me of ur first bf, who apparently will also be ur last :)

ur an animal lover.. and to the extreme. dozens of cats. even dogs. and u even have a shovel in the boot of ur car for "emergency purposes" which i shall not mention here :)

u love to swim, but u cant because ur allergic to chlorine water.

u have really thick, soft, straight n silky hair which i envy. (ok totally irrelevant)

and now u have gotten engaged (6th June) which is such a big thing for me. And u told me a month before about it. it was an invitation. i knew u knew i couldnt be there.. but u told me anyway.

im touched. eventho we dont keep in contact as much as i would like.. but i know we're still the best of friends.

so anyway baybeh~

heya bloggie..

no no, its not THAT flu..

its the normal flu that seems to be spreading like wildfire around here.
ive almost forgotten how its like.
runny nose, slight temperature, watery eyes.. and the sneezing. omy the sneezing. i could kill an ant with it. its somewhat equivalent to a tornado in the ant world.
*sigh*

ive taken my meds.
hope this flu doesnt drag on.. i practically interupt lectures with the sound of me blowing my nose off.
imagine a clogged pipe.
yep tats me.

and i cant think when i have the flu. somehow i think it my brain jams up and all of a sudden all cognitive functions of mine are put on hold.

i'll be continuing my sleep now. I've been sleeping the whole evening like a bear in hibernation.. sleep is my sanctuary right now because as soon as i open my eyes, it activates the pipe systems in my nasal cavity and i suddenly have to deal with a dense waterfall.

n my nose looks like it took a beating from Rocky Balboa from all the wiping of mucous with rough toilet paper tissue because i ran out of soft and scented face tissue.

im actually procrastinating right now. i should be looking for information about the Political structure in Malaysia for a project of mine but instead i came upon this.

1. Only one person in two billion will live to be 116 or older.

2. Women blink nearly twice as much as men.

3. No word in the English language rhymes with "MONTH"

4. Our eyes are always the same size from birth, but our nose and earsnever stop growing.

5. I am left handed but do almost everything else with my right and only 7% of the population are lefties.

6. The Germans tried to copy Coca-Cola and came up with the drink Fanta.

7. Modern teenagers are better behaved than their counterparts of 20 years ago, showing "less problematic behavior" involving sex, drugs and drink.

8. Just about 3 people are born every second, and about 1.3333 people die every second. The result is about a 2 and 2/3 net increase of people every second. Almost 10 people more live on this Earth now, than before you finished reading this.

9. I once sleep-walked down a 3-storyed house down to the kitchen, left my blanket there and climbed back up 3 floors to my room and into bed.

10. Prince Charles and Prince William NEVER travel on the same airplane just in case there is a crash.

Swine Flu in malaysia!

our first case of swine flu in Malaysia, virus A(H1N1) was confirmed yesterday.

i checked The Star online and now a second case has been confirmed!

ok no need to panic. *sweat*

hopefully authorities will be able to contain the spread...

let it not reach beloved borneo. Amen.

GO GO GO KURSK RAVENS!

hoho im feeling hyper for this post.
as u can see.. up there was our Uni's banner for the recent Volgames 2009 in the city of heroes, Volgograd.

and down here is the our netball team waiting in front of uni to board the bus.. for gudluck.. we must camwhore as always.

and we arrive in volgo just in time for opening ceremony.. as the overall champions of the last intervarsity games in Nizhny Novgorad.. Kursk contigents march first.. sy tuuu nah pakai sluar purple.. just in case u were looking. hihi~

KSMU! KSMU!! *clap3*

our game was on the first day. straight after arriving at 6am in the morning after 16hour drive.. attended the opening ceremony and went straight to our match.

all smiles before our first game againts Moscow medical academy..
unfortunately.. we lost our first game to them 5-6.
we felt really down then.. since it was our first year with a brand new defence. Akak punidha (wd), Kala(gd) both have graduated and Yas(gk) couldnt come for the games this time.. loosing the first match.. we thought it was all downhill from then on.
thankfully we won the next matches againts Volgograd 10-5 and RSMU 7-3 to make it into the finals.

In the finals we met up with MMA once again and WON the game 8-7... also a 1 point difference!
WE WONNNN!!!!!!! WUHUUUU~~~~
FUH~~~ *sweaty palms typing this while thinking about the game*

tx for not giving up team :)

after netball, we went to support the Futsal girls.
They won Gold too... wuhuu.. congrats :)
the next day.. i still had Handball to compete in. However we only got fourth placing. which i think was still a hell of a good job considering we only formed the team a week before the games.
We'll get u guys next year round in Kursk Games 2010!... I'll be seeing u RSMU handball girls, especially the one who pushed one of our Futsal players in the finals after she scored the winning goal.
tx for ur going-away present too.. hbs lebam tangan sy. thank u very much. grrrr...

on the 2nd day.. we had a Grand Concert. it was actually called the Grand dinner nite. tapi since makanan sgt "grand".. i think its more suitably called Grand concert.. congrats volgo on the great performances! truly enjoyed it :)

oya.. n remembered when i said i had to sing... well i DID! hehe. will upload the video as soon as i get it :)

the closing ceremony... kami kena suruh duduk mcm kanak2 terbiar while they distribute the medals. those in red are the futsal girls.

Kursk Contigents!

although we only got 2nd placing overall for this year.. but spirits were still high. We shall grab the championship again next year!!!

all in all it was so fun.. n these are just pics from my cam.

i'll post more as soon as i've collected them from other peeps.
