“The style match-up was very good for me, I do very well against boxers like him who are straight forward. I have a lot of wacky angles that people aren’t used to.”
- Seth Petrucelli a.k.a Mixed Martial Arts Buster Douglas

If you didn’t see the fight, you can find the 14 second shocker on most MMA blogs and websites. Fools Rush In. Kimbo Slice displayed no technique and left his chin wide open, word to Josh Stein. Who knows maybe Kimbo Slice will become the new Bob Sapp 2.0? A real shocker would be Patrick Cote demolishing Anderson Silva within 20 - 30 seconds or Brock Lesnar submitting Randy Couture via gogoplata. Anything can happen. Kevin Ferguson rate anywhere near the top 25 heavyweights of Mixed Martial Arts but definitely top 10 in hype and ticket sales.

Seth Petrucelli has the opportunity to makes some serious money in a rematch. And he has a great bargaining position. Too bad he doesn’t realize that he will eventually become the Buster Douglas of Mixed Martial Arts. He will be forever defined as “the guy” who beat Kimbo in 14 seconds.

(Photos snatched from CombatLifestyle.com, and Sherdog.com)

Petruzelli retreated towards the cage, created some distance between himself and the oncoming Slice with a front kick and landed a short right hand that dropped the bearded brute to his knees. A quality finisher, he followed with a series of unanswered strikes and forced the stoppage.
- Brian Knapp (Sherdog.com)

As I stated before, “I’m not making any declaration of racism in MMA or sports in general but there’s a bias that often creeps into tone and language of sports media coverage.” I’ll call my own crap and say this in Brian Knapp’s defense, I’m almost sure Kevin Ferguson would use the same word to describe himself.

brute
–noun
1. a nonhuman creature; beast.
2. a brutal, insensitive, or crude person.
3. the animal qualities, desires, etc., of humankind: Father felt that rough games brought out the brute in us.
–adjective
4. animal; not human.
5. not characterized by intelligence or reason; irrational.
6. characteristic of animals; of brutal character or quality.
7. savage; cruel: brute force.
8. carnal; sensual.

If you don’t know, Kevin Ferguson will face off against 44 year old, MMA legend, Ken Shamrock, born Kenneth Wayne Kilpatrick, tonight October 4th. While Shamrock may susceptible to a TKO, Kimbo Slice better protect his legs and arms. Be clear, Ken Shamrock(44) is not Randy Couture(45), but to his credit Shamrock has won more MMA competitions than Randy has actually fought.
Forget Slice vs. Shamrock for a second, tonight you will get to see Jake Shields versus Paul Daley from the UK. A classic striker versus black belt in Gracie Brazilian Jui Jitsu. And you get to see the ever improving Andrei Arvloski improve his boxing skills against Roy Nelson live on CBS!!
Oh yeah, MMA fans respect the architect, Helio Gracie just turned 95 October 1st!

Here’s a quick morning sketch for your Saturday morning pleasure. I’m going to ink it and post the final tomorrow or Monday.
Any MMA fan has a cool caption for this sketch??

The facts, the records?? Leave those details to the media that cares.
Eventually McCain’s base will forget the carefully edited Katie Couric interviews on CBS.

Can and will SNL and Tina Fey top that performance?

Update:
Some one posted a link to a YouTube video in the comments, where Palin admits she lost the debate. Accidentally deleted. I’m sure the GOP will disagree. The fact that she showed up and did not commit a gaffe, stayed on point, says did enough to reinvigorate and excite the Republican base. And she did enough to quell the concerns of the conservative skeptics who believes the McCain ticket is about to sink. Wink. Wink.

In the spin is in effect.

Quotes from the McCain Campaign:

“Now is not the time to affix the blame. It’s time to fix the problem. I would hope that all our leaders, all of them, can put aside short-term political goals and do what’s in the best interests of the American people” - Senator John McCain

“Obama Stood By, Did Nothing, And Showed No Leadership On The Bailout Negotiations.” - Republican National Committee

“Today that process broke down and it broke down quite frankly from partisan attacks from Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi on the floor, and quite frankly after a partisan attack, Republicans chose to fold their cards and rather than rise above those attacks they chose to walk away from the bill.” - Douglas Holtz-Eakin, McCain’s Economic advisor

Source: Huffington Post . . . yeah the reporting is pretty much biased.

And if you enjoy tax information check out the NYTimes.com article Misleading Claims on Obama’s Tax Plans. The article states that LESS than 2% of the population makes over $250,000. Obama wants to tax those folks while giving about 90% of the population some kind of break. What’s the today’s mathematics?

Americans loves a good fight. Many American fans really don’t care for a defensive display of skills that often win championship games or fights. Defense is often viewed as boring and not as exciting as offense. See: San Antonio Spurs, Lyoto Machida, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the Super Bowl 35 Champions Ravens. People want to see champions and leaders take risks and go for the win. No matter how reckless or impulsive that course of action may be, American fans just loves some one who appears to be the aggressor. After all, which phrase sounds better “Bomb, bomb, bomb, Iran” or “prepared meetings without pre-conditions.”

While I don’t think anyone won the first debate, read: won over the undecided and independent voters, I think some one failed to laced up their gloves and go for the knock-out punch.

More importantly, since I want real change, was any 3rd party candidate even invited to this presidential debate?
