DFC DYNAMIC FLOW CONTROL Mares' first stages feature the exclusive DFC (Dynamic Flow Control) system, which minimizes the intermediate pressure drop during the inhalation phase, thereby considerably improving regulator performance in terms of breathing effort and inhalation resistance. More parts mean higher possibilities for malfunction, so the regs are bare of flashy gizmos. VAD The unique Mares patented V.A.D. (Vortex Assisted Design) system. This system is unique and allows smooth breathing at all depths and its operating principle is very simple. The air coming from the hose passes through the second stage valve and is conveyed directly to the mouthpiece through the by-pass tube. MESH GRID Coverplate design, which disperses the water flow around the 2nd stage diaphragm, reducing the likelihood of free-flow. The calibrated holes allow a large amount of water to flow through while simultaneously reducing undesirable dynamic effects, even when swimming against a strong current. LP Ports 4 HP Ports 1 OCTO: A lightweight intermediate pressure matched low profile 2nd stage scuba regulator by IST. It's a proven design in a compact unit. Hose length 36". The Hydrosplit is distinguished by its patented Nature's Wing split blade technology, which reduces drag while increasing lift and propulsion, resulting in a more efficient kick. The beautifully designed, dual-composite split blade fin also offers excellent power compared to other fins, with a little contemporary style and flare thrown in for good measure. And thanks to the co-molded flex zones, the fin cups and channels water with ease. Other details include a super-soft and comfortable foot pocket, and adjustable foot strap, and a translucent blue color with black highlights. The fin, which doesn't require dive boots, comes in two sizes: S/M (5 to 8-1/2) and L/XL (9 to 13) and includes a mesh gear bag. The "shorty" suit is distinguished by its short-sleeve arms and legs and its titanium-blend 3 mm chest panels, which reflect heat back to the body to keep divers and surfers warm in cool currents. The suit also features 2 mm side panels and super-stretch panels under the arms, both of which give the wearer added flexibility whether twisting to the side or reaching upward. The Sonora Dry snorkel hails from U.S. Divers' Sport Rec series, which is distinguished by its high-quality PVC mouthpieces and large bore barrel designs. More significantly, the snorkel features a dry top structure that keeps splashed water out while maintaining an unobstructed airflow. As a result, you needn't worry about filling your lungs with water each time a fellow swimmer kicks up a bit. Other details include a contoured shape for excellent fit and comfort, a full-flex section that helps you fine-tune the angle, and an easy-clear purge valve.

View Products Details

The Madera mask, meanwhile, boasts a comfortable and durable hypoallergenic silicone face skirt, along with a two-window front in a sleek, super-slim frame design. User will also love the easily adjustable swivel buckle, which allows for maximum underwater comfort at all times.

The Splitflex fin is distinguished by its patented Nature's Wing split blade technology, which reduces drag while increasing lift and propulsion, resulting in a more efficient kick. The beautifully designed fin also offers excellent snap and power compared to other fins, with a little contemporary style and flare thrown in for good measure. And thanks to the super-soft and comfortable foot pocket and adjustable foot strap, the fin feels great even after a long day in the water. The fin is available in three sizes: S (3 to 6), M (6-1/2 to 9-1/2), and L (10 to 13).

U.S. Divers Comfo Grip 3 mm Cold-Water Diving Gloves

U.S. Divers pulls from its longtime diving heritage and expertise to produce the Comfo Grip cold-water diving gloves, a must for divers who want to stay safe while exploring the Pacific and other chilly bodies. It covers all aspects of diving from equipment selection and maintenance to the risks and hazards involved. Included are easy-to-read charts and clear explanations about relevant scientific concepts such as buoyancy, gas pressure, and dive tables. Teens will enjoy this book even if they don't go near the water.
Copyright 1993 Reed Business Information, Inc.

View Products Details

Graver easily achieves his stated goal "to create the most complete, up-to-date text available for entry-level scuba diving and to improve diving safety through education." Study guides in the margins of the text prompt the reader to constantly focus on important points, and the writing provides in-depth elaboration and direction--for the more advanced scuba information seeker--on topics such as equipment, management of physical problems during a dive, the aquatic environment, and general planning in preparation for dives. Appendixes include lists of diver training organizations, the tenets of the "Responsible Diver Code," and equipment inventory. The book serves dual roles as student text and basic introduction. Recommended, especially if your collection is limited to a single title in this subject area.

Body Glove Basic Deluxe Junior's Short Sleeve Rash Guard

Body Glove Lycra Junior Short Sleeve Rash Guard - UV Protection rated pull over lycra water shirt. However, before you go scuba diving, you first need to be certified.

To do this, you have to be certified by a scuba instructor. It is important to remember that the instructor should be licensed and should teach you all the water skills you need in order to have a safe and enjoyable dive. Here's what you should look for in a scuba instructor:

Scuba Diving Certification

There are many people who can call themselves scuba instructors even if they are not. It is important to remember that scuba instructors should be licensed by scuba diving certification agencies, such as PADI, NAUI and/or SSI.

It is up to you to choose which certification agency you want to be certified in. If you ask most scuba divers, they will usually recommend PADI or NAUI. This is because these two certification agencies are two of the world's largest and are well-known to provide comprehensive knowledge about the different skills you need in order to have a safe and enjoyable dive.

If you don't have any experience in diving, you will first be certified as an open water scuba diver in PADI. Or, if you want a crash course in scuba diving where you can learn the basic skills and have a feel of what's it like breathing underwater, you can get an introductory dive.

The difference between these two is that in an open water scuba diving course, you will learn about the different water skills you need to have in order to dive safely. The certification in the open water scuba diving course lasts a lifetime. However, in the introductory dive, you will only learn the basic water skills needed to dive, such as underwater mask clearing, and underwater regulator recovery. The certification with introductory dive lasts only a year in PADI.

Scuba Instructors

When choosing a scuba instructor, you have to find out if they are certified or not. PADI and NAUI can offer you information whether the instructor is indeed certified by their agency.

The Certified Diver's Handbook: The Complete Guide to Your Own Underwater Adventures

by Clay Coleman (Author)
Clay Coleman sent the following posts to customers who purchased The Certified Diver's Handbook: The Complete Guide to Your Own Underwater Adventures

More than half of the 1.5 million people who achieve scuba certification each year are stymied in their pursuit of the sport because they lack time and money to enjoy the exotic diving experiences they've read about, and don't want to be confined to group dives.
