June 1st 2013 I would have to say is the best dance battle and dance exsprience I have ever had.
Deep Seattle is an event that will now be held every fourth Saturday each month in celebration of our dancers in the community. Many different styles popping, locking, wacking etc.. I went to this event to support two close and local dancers Robin Rojas and Dez Chatman. Instead of just being there to support I learned about a. Lot of different dance styles. Also I’m a dancer myself my style is krump. Since this event I have been going beyond my only style to trying to learn all stylesM. M.

Year Up! Tech program

YearUp is a l program that helps young adults find a career in the technical field.This program get young adults involved with companies such as Microsoft and Google. The first six months of being enrolled in YearUp you are a student. Then you are a bumped up to a intern for either Microsoft or Google. In this video these are the students doing a flash mob to get the word out that YES we are here and we will make it. Also I myself shall be enrolling in to YearUp next March.

Q: When did you decide you wanted to own your own restaurant?

A: Two years ago, I love cooking. It helps us introduce our Somali culture to the area.

Q: What is your religious restrictions with food?

A: We can only eat Hala – meat that has been properly slaughtered, no alcohol and no pork.

Q: Which dishes are ordered most often?

A: Mostly goat meat and rice, also hamburgers

Q: What’s a typical style of dining in your culture?

A: Well we eat more family style; normally we eat with our hands, in Somalia we sit on the floor using a low table.

These photos are of the Rainier Beach Walk Out that occured in October 2012!! The photos include most of the students at the school, staff members, police officers, teachers, service providers and news reporters who attented this event. The purpose of this event was to make it known that students wanted Rainier Beach to be part of the school districts Building Excellence IV project list. We the students of Rainier Beach hope to get this new buliding now, because our school has not been rebuilt since the 1960′s. The school is getting old and we deserve a new buliding!!!!
