Internal and external link building strategies

First you need to decide what page you want to rank for what term. Each web page should have a main topic and a keyword to match. For example, you may sell clothes hangers. You entire website may be designed around clothes hangers. So the home page of our website we would likely want to target "clothes hangers" as our primary key term. Other pages will support the idea of clothes hangers, but will focus in on specific types.

Tutorial - 5 tips to a better social profile

5 tips to a better profile.

You ready to do some hardcore profile building to help promote your website? If you do everything the right way, your efforts will be much more effective.

Tip #1. Do it yourself.

Don't use some automated program to spam a few hundred/thousand sites. First off, you don't want to get a thousand links over night. Take your time building profiles and think of it as a long term strategy. If you can do one great profile every day, then you are doing fine.

Tip #2. Configure your Browser.

I hate filling out profiles. To make it easy, I use Google Toolbar and create a few different profiles on there for submitting my information to websites. After doing that, I can submit most of the general information on one click. That way I am not burnt out by the time I get to the general information field.

Tip #3. Write useful, user-friendly info.

While you are making most of your social profiles specifically for search engine spiders, write your bio/extra info stuff to be user friendly. You will have a better chance of your profile staying up and avoiding moderators and it is better for users who find your profile. When you write your profile information, keep keywords in mind and lead your profile with those terms.

Tip #4. Deep Link when you can.

Some profiles force you to link to the home page of your website. Others do not. If you have a choice, link to an interior page of your website. If you are lucky, you can add anchor text to your link. Your linking options from best to worst:

Ligonier Internet marketing - linking to: http://www.submarinemedia.com/ligonier-seo-website-design.php

www.submarinemedia.com/ligonier-seo-website-design.php - linking to: http://www.submarinemedia.com/ligonier-seo-website-design.php

www.submarinemedia.com/ - Linking to: http://www.submarinemedia.com/

Tip #5. Participate.

If the site you just built your profile to relates in anyway to your website or expertise, participate a little. This participation will help build more awareness to your profile and website. Most profiles allow you to have a signature with a link pointing back to your website. You did add on right?

Summary

With a little work and planning you can build a nice base of links built up and promoting your website. Some profiles will be better than others but none are a waste of time.
