So, by default the 108 megapixel sensor makes 12 megapixel images because the hardware automatically combines nine pixels into one big pixel. it is a process called binning. And combined, those binned pixels are about as big as what they would've been on a lower megapixel sensor. Which does help this camera avoid a number of the standard problems that you simply get with high megapixel sensors. Like bad low light, and noise. It mostly works. Samsung tells me that it's looking into it, but there is no setting that you simply can change to vary the default behavior of what this thing does with faces. The weirdest part though, none of this is applicable to the selfie camera. Which is great. Now Samsung also let's you're taking full on, 108 megapixel photos, and there is yet more camera tech involved during this like re mosaic but rock bottom line is you would like tons of sunshine to urge an honest photo at that resolution. And even then, my 108 megapixel photos were noisy enough within the fine details once I cropped in, that I never really saw the purpose . Things kinda just recover from sharpened as a results of a meh sensor. i assume the iPhone quite beats the S20 here, but nothing is basically good. Now as for video, the headline feature is that you simply can shoot and edit in 8K, and that i dunno, i feel that's kinda gimmicky but I do like that you simply can pull a still photo out. More important to me is that the slightly improved video stabilization 'cause have pretty shaky hands, but you ought to know that that also doesn't add 4K and definitely not in 8K. What I mean are things just like the battery. It's 5000 milli amps here, which is large and has let me run a full day with very heavy use. I've done it several times now. 5G might bring that battery life down a tick, but i used to be clearing six hours of screen time with 120 hertz refresh rate turned on. The RAM matters too, you get 12 or 16 gigs of RAM counting on which model you purchase which means apps close less often within the background and ready to start you'll even pin apps to memory which suggests that Android won't be able to close them within the background. Well, yes it did but that does not mean that your city or your carrier has it. Did Samsung prove that it could throw every single performance spec possible into one phone? I mean, obviously it did. this is often Samsung. It also proved though that it's beginning to lose it's restraint a touch bit on software. But the most important thing that Samsung had to prove is that it could stay within the camera fight and do so with big megapixel sensors and zoom. and that i think on zoom, Samsung has proved that it's hardware can beat Google and Apple at around 8x,but it isn't magic enough to urge something great beyond that. I'm more worried about how the camera treats faces though,because i feel Samsung remains Samsung in' up a touch bit an excessive amount of there. Mostly though, Samsung proved that when it wants thereto can still go all out with the phone. I mean, they did call this the Ultra, which is differently of claiming tons . We are almost halfway through 2020, and although it's been a pretty bad year so far, the good news is that we've had some excellent smartphones, and in this video I'm going to be giving you my top five smartphones of the year so far. A few disclaimers before we get into it. Firstly, I've used many smartphones this year, but of course I'm not used every single one. So there may be some smartphones that would make your list that haven't made my list. That's absolutely fine. Also, this is my personal top five list. It may be slightly different to your list. That's also fine, we can still be friends. Please, do drop your top picks in the comments below. Final disclaimer, this list is not in particular order from best to good or worst. I'm just giving you my top five. With that all out of the way,let's get straight to it.

Samsung Galaxy S20, S20 Plus and S20 Ultra

So the first smartphone on my list in no particular order is the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus. Now the S20 line does have three smartphones, the S20, the S20 Plus, as well as the S20 Ultra. The S20 Ultra in my opinion is more of an enthusiast cell phone. It's not something for everybody. Whereas the S20, as well as the S20 Plus, are smartphones that are easily recommendable to most people.

So you'll expand the storage on here, something which you cannot do on just about the other device immediately . Now we do have some different variants depending on your region. You can either get the Exynos variant or the Qualcomm Snapdragon variant, and this is something that I've spoke about in many videos before. There is inconsistency in terms of performance, and if you do get the Qualcomm Snapdragon version, you will be getting a superior device overall, and although we do have a 120 hertz display, this is only at full HD. We don't get the quad HD resolution if you are doing want 120 hertz. Well, despite that if you do want a great all-rounder, then the S20, as well as the S20 Plus, are great options. Now one device that offers both quad HD resolution at 120 hertz is the Oppo Find X2 Pro. Now this is a really good all-rounder. Really bright display with minimal bezels as well. Ticks all the boxes when it comes to specifications. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, 12 gigabytes of LP DDR5 RAM, UFS 3.0 storage with 512 gigabytes, and the fastest charging that I've tested on any smartphone, 65 watt Super VOOC 2.0, which can get your phone from zero to 100% in just around 40 minutes,which is absolutely insane. We've got some specialized overall cameras, including periscope zoom technology which can allow you to urge in very on the brink of your subjects. Now, although you do have some of the fastest wire-charging that you will find out there, unfortunately there's no wireless-charging which I did find myself missing, and the cameras are really good, but the selfie camera I think can be improved. So you do have quad HD+ with 120 hertz which makes things super smooth, but what I like about OnePlus devices is that, yes, they tick all the boxes when it comes to the hardware,but it's really the software which makes things feel even faster. Oxygen OS is one among my favorite skins on Android. It's very clean, and it doesn't really have too much clutter, and on top of that, you do get very fast updates from OnePlus as well. This year, the cameras have also been improved. We've got some really good cameras here on the OnePlus 8 Pro, very comparable to some of the competition, and we do get 30 watts warp-charging out of the box, but what's more important is that for the first time on a OnePlus device, we do get wireless-charging. Not only that, it is up to 30 watt wireless-charging. Now although you are doing need to get a separate charger for this, it is a very nice choice to have. It's obviously not perfect. I have experienced some display issues myself, which people have also reported on, and these are being improved with software updates as far as we all know , and therefore the cameras are specialized at the rear, but again the front-facing camera is locked off at 1080p. Along with that display, it's also not got the best battery life because it's a very very small battery but you do get wireless-charging here, and it's also a much more compact form factor, which you cannot really find lately on many other smartphones.
