Anime Summer 2014 Opinions

Barakamon

This is the type of anime that removes the main character from the comforts of their home and places them into a new and unknown environment. Handa's calligraphy became stale from the pressures of the city environment, and was forced into the countryside as punishment after lashing out violently because he was told his work was dull and conformist. The local people are very charming and welcoming, especially Naru. She is the main influence that brings out the best in Handa new work throughout the series. His experiences have a direct impact on the his style and it's great to see him succeed.

Futsuu no Joshikousei ga [Locodol] Yatte Mita.

I usually enjoy anime about idols solely for the music they bring. The problem is that the idols always stand above their fans and it lacks a true sense of loving them as individuals. Locodol, or local idol, has the sense of community that other idol anime do not have. The song for Uogokoro-kun is simple but still captures the hearts of the locals. Even their final song being more idol-like is a perfect representation of who they are and what they've achieved in the short time they've been locodols. The only minor let down is that there are only three songs.

Glasslip

It's interesting as far as the supernatural elements and future fragments go, but it just falls flat when it comes to the characters. They were bland and uninteresting when they should have been the central focus of the series. The slow-paced plot progression is either from forced drama, or it's from the future fragments and the mystery behind what they actually are. The latter is more interesting, but it's not enough to save the series. I don't recommend watching it, but if you find yourself wanting to know more about the future fragments after the first few episodes, then go ahead.

Tokyo Ghoul

The main theme early on is the distinction of being human. Kaneki becomes a ghoul because of an accident and is forced to live as a monster in human skin. Ghouls are incapable of eating human food and can only live by eating humans so it leads to discrimination even for the ghouls who want to live as part of society. It brings light to both sides of his new life and shows the ghouls are more than just monsters. The series seems rushed at times and the anime is unfinished, however there is a second season coming soon.

Black Bullet

I was pretty bored when watching the most of the episodes. It wasn't interesting and I didn't care for the action scenes. I was however presently surprised with the introduction of the loli harem. It's the only worthwhile addition for me, but this was quickly discarded to give the main characters some emotional baggage. I found the setting to be unrealistic from the first episode. The weakness of the Gastrea is known to be veranium which forms the black bullets, but this is unknown or kept secret from the general public and police.

Isshuukan Friends

I get the same feeling from Isshuukan Friends as I get from Usagi Drop. The art style is the main reason as it is light in design and immediately presents the anime as a heartwarming series. It's a slice of life about making friends with a girl who loses her memory at the end of every week. Hase is very sincere about becoming friends and Fujimiya is an ideal person to make friends with. It was fun to watch the interactions between characters in a similar way to 50 First Dates.

Mekaku City Actors

The story is overly complicated and very confusing. By the end, I think I understood the main premise of the plot, but I didn't care for the ending because I disliked many of the previous episodes. Most of the characters weren't developed very well other than the ones that got a flashback or episode dedicated to them. Ene was one of these characters, but I'm also biased because I like her voice actor, Kana Asumi. It would have been better to focus more on making the plot as accessible and as easy to understand as possible. I think of Mekaku City Actors as a poorly executed Monogatari.

No Game No Life

It was very overhyped and is over rated probably because it's designed to be intense. The reason to watch NGNL are the psychological mind games and how Sora and Shiro will come out on top. All of the games have a very simple concept on paper, but is executed in such an interesting way.

The main characters are overpowered, or over intelligent, and they never lost a game. I think it leads to a lack of character development and the game's end is decided long before they have even started playing. It means that the entertainment comes from the games themselves, but I felt like the twists were very random and not something that I could have predicted.

Soul Eater Not

As a slice of life, the series was very enjoyable. It features, Meme and Anya, two meisters trying to decide who will become the partner of the weapon, Tsugumi. There is quite a bit of yuri subtext which delivers in the final episode, otherwise it's a normal slice of life. It is very different to the original Soul Eater and some characters make cameo appearances quite often.

The final battle was the weakest part of the series. The problem was how Shaula was so weak when it counted most. Usually it's an evenly matched fight until the hero somehow overcomes it. I only accept the outcome because I think Meme was still under the mind control and could track Shaula's location and movements, and soul resonance only helped there case. It doesn't make up for the final battle, but it wasn't really an action anime anyway.

Anime Winter 2014 Opinions

Nisekoi

I had prior knowledge going into this anime. I was told it was a generic harem and I can't disagree, but I think Shaft saved the series for me. Like many of the other shaft series, the animation and quirks stand out over many other anime. The romance is nothing special as I've seen it all before. The part that really interests me is the girl from the past. I want to know which girl it is and whether she'll even be chosen in the end. I'm hopeful that they don't choose the harem ending, but as the manga is still ongoing, I can't imagine the anime finishing either.

Sakura Trick

I usually don't like most fanservice anime, but this one was pretty good. It's a yuri anime with a lot of physical romance. Where I find fanservice mostly tasteless, Sakura Trick offers something more real like a first love. The amount of fanservice seems just right and is presented in a way that I can really enjoy. I now want to find another anime that are as bold as Sakura Trick.

Super Sonico The Animation

I only liked a few of the episodes in this series and overall, it was ok. How Sonico got her guitar, Sonico's travels and the episode focused on cats. They seemed to be the ones most focused on character development and exploration while the others tried some kind of comedic quirk that I didn't really like. The flashback developed Sonico's quiet nature. The travelling episode had Sonico meet many people while having interesting experiences in general. The cats episode was really cute and telling a story with only "meows" was wonderful.

Tonari no Seki-kun

This series is pure genius. It's basically Kana Hanazawa's inner monologue while Seki-kun does something crazy. He doesn't need to talk and he expresses himself through facial expressions and some noises. The imagination and creativity that goes into each episode is absolutely perfect. Assuming you haven't watched it, I don't want to spoil any of the episodes because they each have their own mini twist and I think it would be best to go in blind. I highly recommend it.

Wake up, Girls!

I think I would have preferred this if it was a stand alone movie. It began with how the girls came together and then ended with their first song (Tachiagare!). The movie is required for the anime as it continues where it left off. After watching the series, it seemed so different than what the movie had portrayed. The move seemed more about them having fun while the series became more serious which wasn't really a surprise as drama is a common theme, but it just didn't go over that well.

The songs were excellent except for the last song. I enjoyed it when I heard it as the opening, but it had no impact because it was the same song. First-Rate Smile was so full of energy, but I don't think they were suited to that kind of song.

Danganronpa Case 02

I now forgive the previous case for just revealing the name of the killer. This time Fujisaki was murdered. I had my suspicions of Fujisaki being a boy which ties in with the embarrassing memories and dark secrets, and is possibly enough to kill someone over. Monokuma knows all which means he likely received a male PDA. This will make the original crime scene the boys' changing room. The new rule only covers lending which should mean taking someone elses' PDA is not a something to die over.

Since Fujisaki was killed in the same way as Genocider Syo, it adds to my suspicions of him being male because every other victim was male. Serial killers usually kill their victims in a similar way and some may even have OCD preventing them from doing it any other way. The scissors are missing, but Fujisaki has been crucified and the message bloodbath fever has been used. If
Syo really does have dissociative identity disorder, they might also suffer from memory loss during that state. This will make identifying the killer even more difficult.

Togami and Fukawa were working together on something, but it hasn't revealed yet. Togami gave away information about Genocider Syo which would put him at a disadvantage if he really was the killer. Because the weapon is a dumbbell, I think it's safe to assume only the larger characters will have more potential to commit the crime fast enough to make the choice of weapon worthwhile. I have my doubts about Sakura for now because she wouldn't be able to follow Fujisaki into the changing rooms, so I am thinking it will be either Hakagure or Oowada.

I don't think there is enough information to completely identify the culprit, just make assumptions. I need to know more about what they were doing during the time of the murder to be completely sure.

Danganronpa Case 01

In order to graduate, they must kill another student without being found out. That kind of pressure leads to the worst in people to target the weaker characters. All the characters were introduced in the first episode and judging them solely on appearance or personality will likely lead to suspecting the wrong character. Even weak people can become strong if they feel threatened and the stronger characters could turn out to be the gentlest of all of them.

A good mystery provides enough clues to work out the criminal without just handing you the answer. It's disappointing how easy the first mystery is, but I see this as an introduction to the game at the easiest difficulty. There are clues to push you away from the correct answer, but some clues hold more power than others. The debate should take all the clues into account before accusing anyone of the murder.

The first thing to note is the girls' bathrooms have locks whereas the boys' bathrooms do not. This immediately makes boys an easier target because the killer will only need to get past one locked door to be able to kill someone. It seems like Naegi wasn't the target since the nameplates were changed in order to make the room seem like it belonged to Maizono.

The next clues are the burnt shirt remnant and glass sphere fragments.The burnt shirt is covered in blood and unless someone is wearing the matching shirt, it is unlikely to lead to anything other than assuming the killer was disposing the evidence. It wouldn't be strange for them to have spare shirts so checking will probably not help either. The crystal ball belongs to Hagakure and being broken next to the burnt shirt is suspicious, but it isn't the most convincing clue.

The most important clue is Maizono's dying message. It reveals who is most likely the killer using the numbers 11037. Instead of just writing their name, it is written in numbers as to not seem too obvious. It was probably to prevent it being erased if the killer saw the numbers being written. All the evidence could be planted including the dying message, but these are the only clues that can be linked to someone in particular.

Free! First Impressions

I wasn't expecting much from this anime and after watching the first episode, it was pretty lacking in plot. It did well to introduce them as kids and then they had to grow up... I honestly didn't expect much as I'm not really a fan of sport or ecchi. I guess I'll watch it for cute boys doing cute things. I have watched other sport anime. Ro-Kyu-Bu! with loli basketball is a masterpiece.

I'm not a fan of ecchi series, whether it be fan service or man service, mainly because I'm not the target audience and I actually prefer to watch hentai for real "plot". I'd also prefer to watch a series full of cute moe characters whether it be K-On! or something similar with boys like Tsuritama, but that was more focused on embracing new experiences and growing. It's only a matter of time until they create a swimming club to eat cakes and drink tea.

I look forward to the introduction of the megane character and how his character will get along with the rest of the cast. For now, I like Nagisa and Makoto even if they did grow up.

The best openings and endings manage to maintain the tone of the series instead of an obvious change. There should be a serious song for a serious series and a happy song for a happy series. YouTube usually removes the songs so I won't be linking any, but you have enough information if you want to listen to any of them.

My only criteria for music is the ability to listen to it over a long period of time. Many of the songs I start listening to quickly lose their initial charm and I'll probably never listen to them again. For this list, I am only looking at the song itself because I have less interest in the actual scenes. I prefer fast paced songs and a tune I personally enjoy listening to.

The instrumentals should not be louder than the vocals. They are there to compliment the singing, not overpower it. I see it most often with percussion and very rarely other instruments. I dislike when the singer is trying too hard to make the song sound good. It might be their style, but I believe it's fine as long as they genuinely sing well with good backing music. I really hate stereo which goes silent on one side. It is really off putting when one side suddenly stops giving out music.

Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko First Impressions

Unlike in Kokoro Connect, Youto doesn't even seem to be trying to hide his new found power. Azuki fell too easily to his persuasiveness even if she's forced to lie. It's not like she could say no after what seemed like such a powerful confession. I'm sure he doesn't want to be known as the perverted prince, but it's not like he's suffering from his inability to control himself. This series will work really well as a comedy.

Similar to Kokoro Connect, it seems like their desires are short term and they are unable to control themselves once activatted. Because their wishes turn out to be too perfect, they need to reverse it. It's only natural to want to be want to change when you can't express yourself how you want to, but you only realise you've taken something for granted when it disappears. Youto was unable to bring back his ability to lie because Azuki required it, but once she accepted herself, she was able to give it up.

Tsukiko wished to not be able to express her emotions, but I can't imagine who would need the ability to show what they feel. I'd expect even the most emotionless people would be able to smile because they are forcing themselves to show little emotion. So instead, someone could have wished for a smile.

Aku no Hana episode 2 discussion

In the first episode, the plot was kind of nonexistent. This episode introduces an interesting look at how Takao deals with the guilt of taking Saeki's gym clothes. With all the guilt, he lost his rational thinking and displays his fear really well. The best way out of this would be to either secretly put the clothes back or make up a simple lie like finding them in a realistic hiding place. He obviously doesn't want to give them back in person because of the fear of becoming an outcast, but giving them back is better than holding onto them and entering the contract with Sawa.

The only problem wiith the anime is the art, but I'm used to it now. I hope the plot and atmosphere will become even better by the end of the series. I might like this anime more because of the realistic style. I think it will be easier to relate to the characters because they seem a little more human than regular anime. Professionalism is great as the norm, but there has always been a part of me that knows it's fake and this anime will serve as something different.

Aku no Hana episode 1 discussion

I haven't read the manga so I didn't have any idea of what to expect. After this, I'll more than likely check out the manga for the art, but I don't plan to drop the anime just because of that one disappointment. I am interested to see how well the sales do, but I don't have high hopes for them.

The rotoscoping is clearly cheap and ugly, but I believe the mangaka wanted this. It's not like an anime studio just creates an adaption without consulting the original creator. Most people watching this anime will immediately think the art and voice acting are bad, but in this way it creates an interesting impression. Even if the main response is hate, I expect it to be talked about because it's unique and stands out as a more realistic interpretation instead of the normal anime style.

Art doesn't always have to be beautiful.

I assumed Dera was crying because Tamako had said she never loved him, but he just isn't as fit as he used to be. The constant cutting to Dera running was annoying, but it was fun to assume the worst. Dera turns out to be the first one to find out what Tamako really wants to do herself. He really does care for her despite his arrogant nature and misunderstanding sneezes. I no longer hate Dera. It's not that I like him now, I just don't hate him like I did in the first episode. Dera still makes Tamako smile though.

It might be better left to the respective fans to dream, but out of Midori and Mochizou, I'd have to choose Mochizou. In the end Midori didn't get to be anything other than one of her friends and when she was the centre of an episode, she wasn't portrayed as a good person. Mochizou is kind of average, but his heart is in the right place. He just needs to be more proactive like he was in this episode. He was able to give Tamako the best possible present and while it seems like it was the first time he managed to give her a birthday present, I wonder if it seems more like a return for the cake.

In the end the prince wasn't interested in Tamako and she was Choi's ideal wife. Everything just returns to how it used to be except for the bonds created during the anime. Choi recieved some parting gifts from everyone except Tamako. It was funny and for the best that she didn't accept the meddle.

It's annoying to see how fast everyone just went the idea of her being a princess even though it's clearly not what Tamako wants. The thought of being royalty or anything remotely similar gives off the feeling of isolation. Immediately accepting the change could just be their way of saying it's ok to become a princess, but it adds nothing to declining the offer. Even just one person saying she should stay or at least suggesting she can make her own decisions would be enough to show they really care.

No matter what dream someone has, there's always a high burst of sentimental value for finally achieving the goal. Tamako's medal might seem like a simple prize after all her hard work, but it's always nice to watch others express joy over even the smallest details in life. It's difficult to think what kind of life would await her if she left to become a princess, but losing her family and friends is certainly not going to make her happy. Doing what you love will always lead to the brightest smiles.

Another Midori episode doesn't help me like her character. First she was portrayed as selfish and now she has too much pride. It's admirable that she wanted to create the dance routine all by herself, but there are times you must accept the things you cannot accomplish by yourself. Admitting it might be hard, but it's not like she can progress by herself. It did draw nice parallels with Shiori and Midori switching places. With Shiori I don't think it's possible to change your personality to a point were an introvert becomes an extrovert, but Midori could and should have asked for help sooner. Everything worked out so it's not the end of the world.

Tamako is finally revealed as the prince's bride candidate by Choi. It's unlikely she'd leave her wonderful life of mochi behind to become a princess. It would also mean Mochizou and Midori don't even have a chance if she leaves. Choi would still make a good bride, but this would more than likely be a forbidden love between a prince and the royal fortune teller.

It's too bad nothing came from Anko's crush. She's still pretty childish even after all the time that has passed, but it's not easy when a good friend moves away. Most of the time it's easier to hide from an unwanted reality, but you can't ignore it forever. While she can't have a real romantic relationship at her age, not doing anything is much more counterproductive. As Mochizou encouraged Anko to properly see Yuzuki off, she must have reminded Tamako about his birthday. There's no way she would remember it otherwise.

Tamako's song turned out to be pretty normal. Except for Dera, the series can't really be classed as supernatural, so expecting something extraordinary to happen was just wishful thinking. Her father might be embarrassed remembering how he once expressed his love, but he did it earnestly and he can actually sing pretty well.

Dera did well to lose all that weight he gained but a relapse is more than likely. I'm not even sure he really lost the weight. His body isn't the same as when we first saw him. His head is too large for his lower body as if he's holding the fat in. I wouldn't be surprised if he failed the diet given how brutal the girls were. He barely missed the batons and Midori and Kanna tempting him with forbidden mochi must have made him to crack. At least he does have one ally. The grandfather is the only one who took pity on a hungry bird.

The best part of the episode was seeing how they dressed Choi up. A lot of the clothes she tried were great but white lolita was especially cute even if it was just a fantasy.

Choi is best suited to be the prince's bride. It is easier to get along with people from the same culture because we share interests. She will know him best and she obviously has feelings for him. Marrying someone you don't really know isn't the best idea. While arranged marriages can work out for the better, choosing someone you love is easily the best choice. The prince might have learnt about Tamako through Dera's eyes, but her knowledge about him is still minimal. I would like to see her travel to see the prince before the end of the series.

Choi's fortune telling turned out to be very useful but also kinda useless when she doesn't check her own situation with Tamako. It's probably because Dera is broken but still influential in her decisions. She's too innocent. While the white demon and Wrath of the Earth are designed for comedy and don't really help anyone, the ability to foresee the love lives may have helped Tomio accept his fate. Negative fortunes are only useful if you get advice to improve the upcoming situation, but Tomio always has the opportunity to create the future he desires. I'd like to know what kind of future she sees for Tamako. Even a short term reading could help define the future.

Zetsuen no Tempest episode 18 discussion

As expected, Hakaze wants to destroy Genesis for the hand it played in Aika's death. Though none of this is really verified as Hakaze is jumping to conclusions. Instead of choosing to destroy it directly, she chose to control it using Genesis' favour or to destroy it if it doesn't obey her will. In both situations, Hakaze is being selfish on a groundless basis and destroying Genesis certainly won't be its will.

It becomes more difficult to figure out whether Yoshino really is the mage of Zetuen. His emotional outburst suggests he is just a regular person and his emotions show him to be the victim, but he doesn't seem to discourage Hakaze from destroying Genesis if he even knows about it. His actions and thoughts have always seemed normal in every situation he's been in, but everything has played out in favour for Zetsuen. It's now 50% likely for Yoshino to be the mage of Zetsuen. If Yoshino isn't Aika's killer, she most likely killed herself. Because of how well the series of events have played out, Aika being the the mage of Zetsuen will mean she brought everything to the current events as Zetsuen's will or, more likely, to fight her fate as Hakaze has chosen to fight Genesis.

The mysteries were normal and it's good to see at least Shiori is thinking logically, but the adults were over reacting. It might be because they desire some supernatural answer, but giving shrine like items to Tamako isn't going to help. Wet footprints is the easiest to explain when the owner runs a bath house. I want to assume the cats stole the noodles and that's why he didn't realise the missing portion, but that's unlikely. I guess it's strange for flowers to bloom quickly, but they were already near full bloom anyway, taking them out of the cold quickened the process. I guessed Dera helped with the fire, but I had to wait till after it was explained to be sure.

Tamako misses the point of haunted houses. The haunted house wasn't scary, it was more cute especially with Tamako. It's great she's having fun, but she isn't suited to be a ghost trying to curse others. The atmosphere is helpful and grabbing his hand worked really well, but the smile and happy tone are so out of place. Kanna and Midori however played they're roles really well. Where the adults failed, the girls succeeded with ease. A fun, not scary, haunted house attracted customers to the district and boosted sales. Well done Tamako.

The meeting to find out Yoshino's girlfriend was questionable. They were trying so hard to avoid Aika as the answer when she was the only girl in the equation. The random girls they thought of were clearly their own tastes or trying to make Yoshino look worse than he actually is. It's expected that Mahiro wouldn't think about Aika because of how well they hid the truth. Hanemura did well to work out the real girlfriend but everyone else was just playing around even if they did act surprised to the answer. I preferred Yoshino's confession, it'll put Hakaze's mind at ease for now.

I still don't think Yoshino is the mage of Zetsuen, but now Hakaze knows about Aika, she's bound to take action for revenge. As Samon suggested, she may take action to destroy Genesis. It would be reckless, but she has her promise to Mahiro. At this point I can't be sure whether Yoshino really is the Mage of Zetsuen as his thoughts don't completely fit. It will all depend whether he encourages Hakaze or chooses to stop her. Hanemura certainly won't be the culprit and I'm almost certain it won't be Yoshino. I go back to my theory of Aika killing herself.

I would have preferred Midori if she wasn't made out to be so selfish. While she's a good friend and might have good intentions to keep Mochizou from dating Tamako, it's unlikely and I can't think of those good intentions. She hasn't confessed yet, or if she has, she was misunderstood like when they were in the ocean so. Both of them have the same opportunity for Tamako except that Midori has the ability to be close to Tamako under the pretense of friendship.

I thought they'd become rivals in love, but instead they became mutual rivals. I don't understand why Mochizou said he wouldn't confess. Even if Tamako is oblivious to love, it's not like he should just give up. I am happy Midori got over her selfishness and encouraged him to confess, but this is clearly because of guilt or giving him a fair chance. Well, right now neither of them seem to have the intention of making a move. I don't mind which of them confesses as neither Midori nor Mochizou interest me. I'm more focused on Kanna and Shiori. I do at least hope to see one or both confess and see the developments from there.

Hakaze is great as one of the stronger female main characters in anime, but she's also cute when embarrassed. Harmless teasing is fun and as long as Hakaze doesn't feel pressured into using her devine protection, everyone should be fine. She might get over her feelings for Yoshino when she finds out who Yoshino's girlfriend is, but knowing how evil Aika is, I think she'd only try harder.

Even though Yoshino's actions made Hakaze use magic, I still don't think he's the mage of Zetsuen. His actions are always normal for his character. Anything even remotely suspicious will be related to their theory. They're blinded by their bias, but I'm really no different. Saving Sana might be reckless when he can't use magic, but saving a cute girl in distress is one of his good traits and we can always blame special effects for the magic.

Anko is cute, but she's very childish at times. Although she was selfishly trying to get her way, she did fulfil her duties as a mochi maker's daughter. Or it seems more like she was taking the easy jobs stating she wasn't good enough to be relied on. I'm happy she didn't go with her friends in the end. While it probably wouldn't have made a big difference, having her calm down a girl in the princess role similar to how she was in the past, shows how mature she really is. Everything worked out well even though she didn't go with her friends. I only hope to see less of her childish side and more of her mature side.

I was wondering which of the boys Anko really liked. Kyoto Animation was trying hard to make it out to be the cool boy instead of the kind boy, but without confirmation, I was unsure with each event. In the end, I was right to be suspicious since it turned out to be the kind boy as I half expected.

Finally someone confronted Mahiro about his sister complex. Too bad it was Hanemura. I dislike his character, he's not like yoshino... Hanemura was on his way to destroy Genesis, but it's all to impress Yu. He'd be better to give up on her, it's not like they'll get back together. It seems like Hanemura really doesn't have to offer anything to perform for his magic. If anything, it would be his life span, but that's not a good idea considering the long lasting rivalry between both trees.

Samon and Mahiro had an interesting conversation. Finding out you could have saved the world if you had acted differently would be pretty cruel. It points out the mistakes or lack of actions you made and shows an easy way to change the outcome. Though finding out you could save the world after it's destruction is very different to before it's destruction. This is because every decision is based on every past event all the way back to the beginning of time. Therefore unless some devine being knew the end was coming and influenced your actions, even if you were attempting to save the world, it's not possible because of chaos theory. Ignorance is bliss.

I want to say Dera isn't really a bird, but the way he acts is kind of birdish. A robot would make sense because of the projector, but robots shouldn't have real emotions. He's attracted to Shiori so maybe he was a human who turned into a bird for being so obnoxious. It was kind of normal when he assumed the other girls fell in love with him, but when he falls in love with a human, he literally falls... Dera used the fall event too many times. Four times really was too much, but it led to more scenes with Shiori.

Shiori is a great addition to the main cast, danderes are always quiet and cute. Practicing to thank Tamako was really nice to watch. Now that she's past the introduction, she should be better at communicating with Tamako.

I'm not sure how a feather is suppose to be a sign of love, it's like giving someone some of your hair. While it could be romantic, I just think there are better ways to show your love. Well, it's best she didn't accept his feather. Accepting it would have caused a misunderstanding and Dera would probably have never given up. If he can change his personality and be nicer, I'm not against him being friends with Shiori and Tamako.

Tamako looks better with her hair down and with glasses, while princess Anko is best when sleeping.

I believe everyone should embrace holidays and market their products appropriately. This should maximise revenue and the customer gets what they want. There are certain expectations, at least in the UK, about holidays that promote spending. I'm sure Valentines Day boosts the sales of chocolate and the same with white chocolate on White Day. Mochi already sounds nice, but customising it to Valentines Day would make it even better.

Tamako's father originally choosing to stick with what he knows isn't bad, but the business would just miss out on the fun. He was reluctant and if he wasn't fully on board with his love-love heart mochi, it would make him more of a sell out and forcing himself to follow the trends. He's just embarrassed about heart mochi and Tamako's reaction is hilarious.
