Carmen Cruz has lived in Valencia, Spain for the past 26 years with her husband, renowned flamenco guitarist and singer, Tony Valverde. Together they perform flamenco in “tablaos” in Portugal and Spain. Cruz began her early dance training in the U.S. as well as in Spain and currently teaches flamenco “baile” in La Font d’En Carròs, Spain.  She is here to teach for one day only at Flamenco Gitana in association with Skin Deep Dance.

Luis, born and raised in one of the oldest gypsy neighborhoods, Barrio de Santiago, began his career as a percussionist at the age of 8. He has performed and toured with many great Flamenco artists known to us, such as Antonio del Pipa, Fernando de la Morena,El Capullo, Moraito, Diego Carrasco, Angelita Vargas and has come to the Bay Area with Maria “Chacha” Bermudez several times. As a lyricist, his letras have been recorded widely and as a percussionist, he can be heard on many CDs. Joining Arte Flamenco onstage  is also Estefania, who resides in Jerez .
