Promoting SDG Impact Initiatives Through Nominations to Build a Sustainable Future Together

I recently attended the JCI Malaysia Sustainable Development Awards 2026 (JCIM SDA 2026) Press Conference at KL Wellness City in Bukit Jalil, and it felt less like a formal press event and more like a meaningful gathering of people who genuinely care about creating impact.

Organised by JCI Bandar Setia Alam together with JCI Lutong, the session was focused on officially opening up nominations for this year’s awards. But beyond that, what I personally felt was a strong reminder of why sustainability matters and how each of us plays a role in shaping the future.

The theme “Today. Together. Tomorrow.” stayed with me throughout the event. It reflects something deeper than just environmental awareness. Sustainability today is about how we build systems, communities, and businesses that can continue to grow while still being responsible to future generations. It is not just about doing good. It is about doing things right, consistently.

From what was shared during the session, the awards aim to recognise initiatives that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). But what I appreciated most is that it is not limited to large corporations or high-budget projects. Even smaller initiatives with real impact are encouraged to step forward and be recognised.

The venue itself, KL Wellness City, provided a very fitting space for conversations around sustainability, wellness, and future-focused development.

Nominations Now Open for JCIM SDA 2026

One of the key highlights shared during the press conference is that nominations are now officially open for the 2026 JCI Malaysia Sustainable Development Awards (JCIM SDA 2026).

Submissions run from 9 February to 22 June 2026, and are open to companies, government agencies, NGOs, and foundations that are working on initiatives aligned with the SDGs.

This year is especially significant as it marks the 10th anniversary, and for the first time, participation is open internationally. This opens up opportunities for more diverse and impactful projects to be recognised on a larger stage.

The award winners will be celebrated at the JCIM SDA 2026 Award Banquet on 4 October 2026 in Miri, Sarawak.

From my own perspective, what stood out is that this is not about how big your project is. It is about the difference you are making. If your work creates real impact, your story deserves to be shared.

Why This Matters (My Personal Reflection)

Being there reminded me a lot about the work we are doing as well. In business, especially in marketing, it is easy to focus on numbers, leads, and performance. But impact is also something we should measure.

Sustainability is not a trend. It is a direction.

And sometimes, the most meaningful contributions are the ones that are quietly consistent, not just highly visible.

This event reminded me that purpose and strategy can exist together. And when they do, the results go beyond just business growth.

A Fry-volution Begins: Philips Airfryer 5000 Series Launch in Malaysia

Recently, we had the opportunity to attend the media launch of the Philips Airfryer 5000 Series in Kuala Lumpur, where Philips Domestic Appliances Malaysia introduced what could be their most versatile airfryer yet.

The event gathered more than 50 journalists, lifestyle media and content creators who were invited to experience the appliance first-hand. From live cooking demonstrations to tasting sessions, the atmosphere was lively as everyone was curious to see how this new kitchen innovation would perform.

What makes the Philips Airfryer 5000 Series interesting is its combination of Steam, Airfry and SteamFry functions all built into one appliance. Powered by Philips’ RapidAir™ Technology, the airfryer is designed to deliver crispy results on the outside while keeping the inside juicy and moist.

According to Sue-Ann, Commercial Director of Philips Domestic Appliances Malaysia, this new innovation is meant to transform everyday cooking at home.

“This is the airfryer that truly elevates home cooking, combining steaming, airfrying and easy cleaning in one, powered by our Rapid Air Technology for consistently great results which are crispy on the outside, juicy and moist with the added steam function. We believe this is the start of a true fry-volution in the kitchen.”

One of the highlights of the event was a live cooking session by influencer content creator Shafique Cute, who demonstrated how the SteamFry function works. The combination of steam and air frying helps preserve moisture in the food while still achieving that crispy texture many people enjoy.

Guests were also treated to a fun SteamFry Showdown led by Chef Sarah Huang Benjamin. Teams were invited to try the appliance themselves and prepare dishes using the airfryer. It was interesting to see how easily the appliance handled different cooking styles while maintaining consistent results.

Our Experience at the My Food 2025 Pre-launch Event!

On 22 April 2025, we had the chance to attend the pre-launch of My Food 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. This event, organized by Montgomery Asia, is more than just a trade show—it marks the beginning of a movement to promote local food suppliers and strengthen Malaysia’s food security.

The event was officiated by YBhg. Datuk Seri Isham bin Ishak, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), and it was inspiring to see the industry’s leaders come together to discuss how Malaysia’s food supply chains can evolve to become more sustainable and self-sufficient.

What really caught our attention was the focus on sustainability and local sourcing. The demand for fresh, nutritious, and locally sourced ingredients is growing, and My Food 2025 is here to support that shift. The event provided an excellent platform for suppliers and industry players to connect and collaborate on how to build a stronger food ecosystem in Malaysia.

We also loved how sustainability was a major theme throughout the event, from reducing carbon footprints to educating buyers about the benefits of sourcing locally. It's clear that this initiative is set to drive meaningful change in Malaysia’s food industry, creating opportunities for local businesses and strengthening Malaysia’s position in global food security efforts.

The full My Food Show will take place from 24 to 26 April 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, and we can’t wait to see even more of these important conversations unfold. It’s not just a trade show—it’s a movement for a better, more sustainable food future in Malaysia.

Goodday KidSTART 2.0, Malaysia’s Biggest Kidpreneur Programme

I recently had the privilege of attending the grand finale of Malaysia’s largest Kidpreneur Programme, Goodday KidSTART 2.0, and I must say, it was an incredibly inspiring experience. Held on June 30th, 2024, the event was a beautiful testament to the creativity and potential of our young minds. The atmosphere was electric with excitement as children from across the nation gathered to showcase their innovative business ideas. The highlight of the day was watching 9-year-old Lee Yumi take the top honor with her ‘OnBoard: School Bus System’ idea, earning her RM20,000 to bring her vision to life. Her determination to solve real-life problems was truly commendable.

The competition was fierce, with over 4,000 submissions from 141 schools nationwide. SJK (C) Puay Chai was particularly impressive, winning the School With Highest Participants award thanks to their 478 entries and three students shortlisted in the Top 20. I was deeply moved by the presentations of 12-year-old Muhammad Basyeer Bin Mohamed Ackiel Mohamed, who won second place with ‘The Academy of Future: Peer to Peer Learning Coding & Robotics’, and 9-year-old Lim Zhi Fung, who secured third place with his ‘MindACT: ACTor Program’ idea. The room was filled with pride and joy as these young entrepreneurs received their well-deserved accolades.

Throughout the day, I had the pleasure of witnessing the immense talent and passion of our youth. Awards for Most Innovative Idea, Most Sustainable Idea, and Best Presenter were handed out to equally deserving participants. The Rising Star award went to 9-year-old Elsa Khaw Wen Qing, who left everyone in awe with her presentation. The event’s success was a testament to the collaborative efforts of Goodday Milk, the Ministry of Education, Alliance Bank, and all the partners involved. Their support and dedication to nurturing the next generation of kidpreneurs were evident in every aspect of the program.

Listening to the heartfelt words of Amy Gan, VP of Etika's Marketing, and Dr. Aaron Sum, Alliance Bank’s Group Chief Strategy, Marketing, & Business Development Officer, further reinforced the importance of such initiatives. Their commitment to fostering financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills among our children is paving the way for a brighter future. I felt a deep sense of gratitude and pride as I watched these young minds shine.

As I left the event, I couldn’t help but feel hopeful for the future. The creativity, intelligence, and determination displayed by these young entrepreneurs were truly inspiring. It reminded me of the importance of supporting and nurturing our children’s dreams and aspirations. Goodday Milk’s commitment to providing goodness beyond nutrition by enhancing the well-being of our community and promoting financial soundness for the next generation is something we should all applaud and support. Another day to record for my memories. A day my kids enjoyed their time at Kidzania. Ever since the pandemic it has been awhile since they’ve been to Kidzania and so much has changed.

One of the activities they attempted near the entrance was the Goodday Charge where they had to workout to get healthy. This concept itself played a huge role for my kids as my kids are also on their losing weight journey as I don’t want them to be obese as they get older. Hence this activity trained them to work their hardest to ride the bicycle that helps charge up the blender to blend their healthy smoothie and be rewarded with the Goodday smoothie after the workout! It basiclaly replicates the act of an adult who goes to the gym to sweat it out and reward themselves with a healthy treat afterwards to refuel their energy.

Then they experienced the wall climbing activity where it was in cooperation with Wonda Coffee, Astro Shaw and the local Malaysian hero cartoon character Keluang Man! From this activity my kids get to experience the adventure of breaking through their fear of heights. Although they didn’t reach for the top but they did their best and didn’t give up. This itself taught them many life values in return. From not giving up too soon, doing their very best, facing their fears and finding their way to make it was in itself a victory!

As a parent I was so proud of them, as many will probably just give up without trying but they know that if you want something, you have to do your best and keep going even when it is uncomfortable. My eldest is afraid of heights but he made it halfway to the top, my second boy was also afraid but he did his best to find a way despite the obstacles infront of him, he didn’t give ip and kept trying even though he didn't make it halfway but I was able to witness him trying his best.

There were many other new activities on board like the FoodPanda grocery shopping and delivery, the Royal Canin Veterinary, the Famous Amos outlet and they brought cookies back, also the TV news reporter that I was equally proud of them because they were able to read the teleprompter on live TV. Although it was funny but they never complained or gave up.

At the end, they wanted to spend on toys but Kidzania is hood because it teaches them the value of it. Despite doing several jobs and making Kidzos they were still unable to get the toys they want. It indirectly teaches them the value of hard earned income from their effort and it is not an overnight success.

They had lots of fun and learned the value of hardwork effort and making money. But they had fun at the same time, I get to teach them the value of life to prepare them for the real world.

Checking into the hotel, we were greeted with a warm and cosy room that immediately felt like home. The very night day, I truly enjoyed my à la carte dinner date with my loved ones at the hotel cafe. It was truly an array of gastronomic wonders, with each dish meticulously prepared and bursting with flavors that lingered on the palate.

After a good meal, the next day we were looking forward to spending time in the hotel together as a family. The following day commenced with a breakfast spread that left us spoiled for choice. Watching our kids indulge in their favorite dishes was a heartening sight. I must say, the breakfast buffet was the best starter that kickstarted our fun-filled family moments together.

As you can see, my kids had the best fun they had on this quick staycation over the weekend. Despite being an hour away from home, sometimes a break like this is needed to take your mind of things back in the hustling bustling city. Because time flies, before you know it, it is already 2024 and Chinese New Year is just around the corner! And because time flies, my kids enjoyed themselves to the fullest at the swimming pool! The following day commenced with a breakfast spread that left us spoiled for choice. Watching our kids indulge in their favorite dishes was a heartening sight.

The pool provided a perfect playground for the kids. They loved the bubble bobbling in the jacuzzi pool, they had many splashing fun moments. And these moments are priceless and not every hotel has such facilities available. We were glad that we made the choice to come here to this hotel for our weekend getaway. After having so much fun, it was natural to be super hungry after that. But we were glad because the lunch & even their dinner buffet spread was truly a feast! There was alot of variety to pick from and my compliments to the chef here. Everything was made to perfection. It was just properly well cooked, well seasoned and taste wonderful! Even my husband who is not a foodie by nature, complimented the food variety at the Asiatique cafe here inside Royale Chulan Seremban hotel.

While the food was truly worthy-mention, the rooms itself offered a serene haven for relaxation. My kids were well prepared for their trip. They brought their favourite gadgets, toys and unwind in the room. I should've brought a board game along, it would be so much fun together!

As the morning sun painted the sky, my husband discovered a nearby running route at the park. His breathtaking run amidst perfect weather set a positive tone for the day. The beautiful view and clear blue sky nearby the hotel vicinity is truly breathtaking in the early morning.

On our last day, breakfast became a cherished family bonding moment, weaving laughter and shared stories. Lots of photo taking moments and lots of food to fill into our tummy.

After bidding farewell to Royale Chulan, we took the opportunity to explore the nearby gems before heading home. From charming stops to affordable shopping places, Seremban unfolded as a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Seremban Gateway was actually around the corner turning in heading to Royale Chulan hotel. It was like a lifestyle mall with restaurants, cafe and shops that you can spend a day there. There was also Terminal 1 Shopping Centre, this one very legendary, I used to come here last time in my employment days to visit the mobile phone dealers there and inside there are lots of shops to splurge on. The one that caught my attention nearby is the Setia shop next to Mr D.I.Y. Where everything is at RM2.40. Talk about shopping spree weeeee~!!

But my kids since the day we arrived, they've been asking to drop a visit at A&W they saw the logo outside as we were heading to Royale Chulan hotel. So we decided on our way back, we will have our lunch at A&W that is just 5 minutes below the hotel.

Against a backdrop of clear skies and overlooking a serene lake, we had a family feast that added the perfect finishing touch to our getaway. For those seeking a blend of tranquility and luxury, I truly encourage you to explore the current Chinese New Year promotion for a staycation at Royale Chulan Seremban. The Dragon Year CNY Feast At Han Yi Puen Chinese Restaurant

Usher the Chinese New Year of the dragon year, with a hearty prosperous meal at Han Yi Puen Chinese Restaurant, in Mezzanine Level of Royale Chulan, Seremban. We were grateful that we could experience the joys and abundance of the Chinese New Year spread, that was a feast to be remembered and worth to be enjoyed during this coming Chinese New Year from 9th January to 24th February. Available for both lunch (12pm to 2:30pm) and dinner (6:30pm to 10pm) excluding Mondays. However, on February 12th 2024 a special Monday, both lunch and dinner will be available due to Chinese New Year.

We were embraced with the presence of Chef Daniel Chong and his team; They carefully crafted the delicate balance of flavours to the meticulous presentation of each dish for Chinese New Year. This feast truly is a testament to the hotel’s commitment to gastronomic excellence.

There are a variety of Prosperity Yee Sang options: Vegetarian Yee Sang, Salmon Yee Sang, Jellyfish Yee Sang, and Abalone Yee Sang. Each Yee Sang is specially prepared in a box, available in small or large portions, ranging from RM68 nett per box to RM198 nett per box.

I like how the restaurant offers four (3) delectable set menus, each serving a large portion of Yee Sang with an eight (8) course meal, priced at RM1388 nett per set and RM1788.00 nett per set for ten (10) diners.

Highlights of the set menu include Abalone with Dried Scallop Soup, Golden Chicken Pancake with Almonds, Steamed Tiger Grouper with Chicken Essence and Superior Sauce, Tiger Prawns with Garlic Flakes and Chilli Sauce, Steamed Lotus Leaves Rice with Crispy Mermaid, Braised Sea Cucumber with Dried Oyster and Broccoli, Chilled Peach Gum with Blossoms and Aloe Vera, and Signature Banana Fritters.

“This year's Chinese New Year Set Menu marks the return of Han Pi Yuen after a hiatus of three (3) years. We hope to welcome back our guests and entice new patrons to indulge in these special dishes. Additionally, we will commence the Sunday All-You-Can-Eat Dim Sum to attract more patrons to Han Pi Yuen,” says Rahman Ahmad, General Manager of the hotel.

Rahman added that guests will also be treated to an exhilarating lion dance performance by the Yung Loong Wushu and Lion Dance troupe. Malaysian Humanitarian Foundation collaborates with Teach for Malaysia to empower underprivileged students with leadership skills

Award-winning non-profit organisation, Malaysian Humanitarian Foundation (“MHF”) is working closely with Malaysia’s leading educational non-profit organisation, Teach for Malaysia (“TFM”) in identifying students from B40 households to offer scholarships to attend SuperCamp.

For the December edition which ran from 18 to 22 December 2023 at Paradise Valley Broga Resort, Semenyih, Selangor, seven (7) students from several schools within Klang Valley were shortlisted by TFM to attend SuperCamp.

“We work on a system to extend opportunities like this to students from the underserved communities. Not having the resources to attend programmes like this should not hinder you from unlocking your full potential and achieving greatness in the future. Vassenthen A/L Devendren, 16, was filled with excitement to be selected for SuperCamp. The SMK (L) Methodist Sentul student candidly shares that his self-esteem took a hit during the transition from a Tamil school to a national school after his UPSR, which left him dissatisfied with the result. He also feels less confident due to his larger physical build.

“I was disappointed to receive my UPSR result and decided to make a change. I started following a strict regime where I only allowed minimal time to rest and spend time with my family. Being the eldest in my family also means that I have the big brother role to play,” he says. He also continues to study Tamil subjects to honour his Indian heritage as he aspires to excel in his mother tongue, while improving his proficiency in English and Bahasa Melayu.

His mother, Mogana Sunthari A/P Govindan, 41 is also surprised to see how much time Vassenthen spends in his room studying. “Everyday, after school he retreats to his room to study. Sometimes, he only texts or calls me on the phone when he wants to eat. I can see that he is driven to be successful in the future, so I’ll continue to support him,” she says. “Interestingly, though, he doesn't aspire to become a doctor! He mentioned that the COVID-19 experience has truly scared him!”

Another scholar from SMK Seksyen 27, Shah Alam, Maizatulakma Lisa Aqilah Abdullah, is a big fan of Korean culture, particularly the food and fashion. Despite her passion for entertainment, she strongly believes that her peers should set their priorities right from such a young age.

“I know a lot of students my age want to be content creators and influencers, but I honestly hope to be a teacher one day. So, I’ll work hard towards this goal, acknowledging that I can be a bit lazy at times. However, after attending SuperCamp, I really found motivation to do better,” says the 15-year old student.

“Yes, she can be lazy sometimes,” laughs Maizatulakma’s mother, Zaidatulnisa binti Salleh, 39. “But she’s really a good girl. She’s the eldest in the family and takes care of her younger siblings. She makes sure that all her homework is completed before coming home. She is also actively working for an NGO on the side, something that she picks up from me. I too am actively working for several NGOs that empower children from the B40 group with education around our neighborhood.”.

Zaidatulnisa also hopes that the Malaysian education system will bring back examinations for the students. “I see examinations as a way to motivate students to apply what they have learnt at school. Examinations provide a quantifiable and measurable method for parents to assess their children's progress at school. It's not about making comparisons of whose child is better or smarter.”

Zuraida Zulkifli, 48, is a proud mother to Daliya Safeera Ramli, 15, a student at SMK Shah Alam, Bukit Jelutong. “She is very quiet at home and likes to keep to herself. She only approaches us when she needs help. She is different from her older sister who was a prefect and active at school. Her sister also attended a boarding school,” says the full-time housewife.

“I don’t really want to attend boarding school like my sister,” Daliya laughs. “I’m actually an introvert and I’m afraid to make mistakes, especially when speaking in front of the crowd. Even when studying, I rely on the Internet and Youtube videos when I hit a wall. It’s not always a bad thing as it allows students like me to learn at our own pace. Now that I have attended Supercamp, I feel more confident, especially in overcoming my fear of public speaking, and I am excited to share my opinions on various issues”.

Jalan Jalan Perlis with Travelogue Malaysia

Yes! You heard that right! Today I am sharing my true and real experience on my travelogue Malaysia journey to Perlis. I drove up there and it took about 5 hours actually, I wouldn't say it was long but so long as you are well prepared for stops along the way then you are ready.

So the journey up was already very entertaining because good company is a must to keep you awake for 5 hours. Or music will also work for me. Another is enjoying the process, along the way you get to view beautiful mountains, skyview, some slow cars and some very crazy fast cars and do be careful when it rains. But nearer to Perlis you will start to feel the peacefulness in your heart.

You will see cool blue clear skies, sunny sunshine with huge paddy fields! I went in February and the paddy fields were green and almost turning in for the season. Also you will see rows and rows of Harum Manis mango trees on some fields and cows. The 5 hours journey we have many stops in between as we weren't rushing to enter Perlis. It was a very smooth journey all the way.

We immediately went straight to Savana Hotel at Perlis. It was a very nice place to be in. I love the cleanliness and the hotel rooms were fully equipped and almost brand new. I also like how they accommodate big family and also bigger crowds too.

A good place if you want to consider having a gathering trip here or teambuilding even. They have hotels within the same building and also serviced apartments along the entire building lot stretch. We stayed at the serviced apartment with separate rooms with toilets attached to the rooms.

Right after checking in, we didn't delay further. We went to Sadiah Cafe for dinner and we were quite early. So we decided to visit the Kebun Mangga Harumanis Wan Pa right opposite Sadiah Cafe that you can just walk over in 10 minutes. We saw some guests and staff that actually was enjoying their evening walks/jog along the paddy field there.

I love how the entire area is just so beautifully and naturally designed for a very memorable homestay experience. And this is definitely the next place I will want to visit with my kids during the mango season (April-June).

Our dinner at Sadiah Cafe is truly appetizing and very fulfilling. I got to enjoy the local delicacy here the "Urap Jagung" that is really a new dish I have never heard of or rarely hear of. And it was lovely! Their seafood spread was also a very interesting combination, I love how fresh the seafood is and how generous their portions are. Also the best part is, it is not as spicy as I feared it will be! I love how the flavours blend together and everything here is in-house homemade, it's a family business that is surely worth mentioning.

You can also enjoy your meals in the middle of the paddy fields or over at the top with a nice overview of the surroundings. If you have kids like me, then they will surely enjoy the play area downstairs dedicated just for the little ones.

The 2nd day, we drove out to Ngopi at Perlis to enjoy breakfast over there. I must say that it was one of my favourite palce there that until this very day I can still imagine sinking my tooth into its crispy crusty buttery flaky warm croissant sandwich and pastry goods!

Their belgium chocolate was very rich in flavour and I came to know that all the ingredients including the sauces for the sandwiches are all made there! Own recipe, own homemade delicacies. Definitely you will not want to miss this! I was asking the owner if he will franchise out soon and it seems like yes, the chances are very high that they may be coming over to Klang valley soon, but before that happens and before it gets super viral, come and visit the origin outlet to experience the real deal yourself!

We visited Unic Astana Holidays office that is just further opposite Ngopi, across an open carpark area. So we sat there and were explained of where will be head to the next destination and the following 3rd day as well before we depart home. I love how Perlis people are really friendly and they treat you like family. It was a very welcoming and loving experience that I will surely want my family to experience it too. I always believe how people react to you is how you react to them first too. So be nice because the people there are really really genuinely nice and caring!

I also got to see Unic Astana Holidays Headquarters that actually is one of the oldest travel agent in Perlis. They actually have many packages not just in Perlis but around Malaysia and other places you wanna travel to as well. And their packages are really affordable! For us, this round we had a special request to visit places in Perlis that was not crowded with tourists but worthy of mention. And they really brought us to places that is truly worthy of mention.

They also have a huge coach bus as well for bigger crowd and even have their own rescue service team which you don't always see with travel agent companies. And I feel this is something worthy of mentioning. The company really take pride and take accountability in their people and their clients and customers. Very responsible and responsive at the same time. They give super awesome advises too when we were planning for our upcoming trip down with our family. Because they only want to offer the best and not 2nd best.

Lunch on the 2nd day was over at Suri Masakan Melayu Traditional. You may have heard of this place before, but it was my first time and I can understand why this place is crowded with people. Thankfully when we arrived we had a spot booked for us.

The variety of the cuisine available here is basically everyone's wildest dream come true! There's no way you can try everything here in one visit. They have so many choices from the main food to the side dishes, to the vegetables, to the grilled options, to the beverages and even until the sauces and soups. Too many to choose from but only one tummy to fill.

My phone went on a buffet spree shooting before I had my fill of my favourite rice served with masak lemak sauce and the usual, fish, meat and veggie.

After lunch we headed over to Timah Tasoh, Santuari Air Ikan Tawar for a boating activity. There was a cute little lamb that greeted us as we arrived.

The boat experience was an eye-opening experience. We got to enjoy the sights and sea breeze. The view is spectacular! Even if you don't own an iPhone but the image and video that you will capture will surely be captivating because the entire view itself is just so majestic! We got to see Gunung Chabang Mari at the sea and also we saw some areas that was blocked off with some historical stories being shared during our boat ride that some places actually used to be a village that is now filled with water. It's basically like we are right over Atlantic City, there was literally a village right below the water as we glide through.

There were some areas where we also saw the tip of the roof on the surface of the water, and these houses are of the olden days houses that is already submerged in water. Talk about solid structure that is still standing strong underwater.

It was a great activity to also enjoy yourself without the stress of the hustle and bustling of the city and your work/business matters. And a place to just unwind and relax. Allows time for your food to digest too.

Right after our boating activity, we headed over to Gunung Chabang Mari directly.

Upon entering only then I found out this place is famous because of the little lamb there. One of them was apparently super naughty. But nevertheless this place was also famous because the entire view is like being in Switzerland itself with the mountain view and the landscape beautifully laid out with the lambs at the side eating the grass.

I took many selfies with my selfie stick and videos. I tried to wefie with the lamb but at the start, they didn't want what I gave to them so I just ignored them and they just came over to check me out when I was taking photo under the tree right smacked in the center.

Also I noticed the chicken here is so cute! I've never seen a chicken with such cute butt.

After enjoying nice views and unwind and relax. We then headed to another tourist spot that wasn't so crowded that day, was the Kampung Warna Warni. In english it translates as Colorful Village. And I kid-you-not this village is superbly colorful. I love how it was a combination of several villages in the entire area that actually colored and painting their homes in colorful shades of design and artistic patterns and colors.

What i see here is not just the creativity but the unity of how these villagers put effort to make something different than the norm and come together despite some are of different areas, but with a purpose to just be different. And it became a tourist attraction in Perlis. Because when visitors pay to enter with the buggy car. They also get to stop by at some of the villagers home that offers some snacks and tidbits as their livelihood.

I stopped when I saw this home that sells Dodol and was given some to try first and I bought the entire last 5 packet home. It was way better than any dodol I've tried before. And this is handmade not machine made! It is a must-have!

Along the villages we also got to see the seaside nearby with a huge crab statue there. It was a nice pitstop to chillax and snap photos and enjoy the sunset before we head back for dinner.

Dinner time arrived and we also arrived at Rohani Ikan Bakar outlet. This is one of the most noticeable shops along the entire Perlis because they have 2 huge outlets and they serve amazing ikan bakar aka grilled fish.

Just look at the fresh seafood spread for you to choose from. We tried quite alot of variety and even some that was super unique like the stingray fish.

We each had our favourites but I love all of it. This beats any fresh grilled seafood I've had at the food courts in Klang Valley.

The 3rd day before we headed back to KL, we went to Warong Bonda for breakfast and we chose the right place. This place actually has a lovely view of the paddy field that you can take an instagramable photo there.

We also took many instagramable photo shots of the food we ordered.

The food is very unique and local. It's not a common flavour that you can get in KL. You gotta be here to experience it yourself.

Before heading back we needed to head over nearby to Gunung Medan. I know many will be wondering why not Wang Kelian? Well, to be honest we didn't want it to be crowded when seeing spectacular views. So basically when we went to Gunung Medan it was just us. No crowd. I only know that in the morning when the sun is not so hot, only the local neighborhood nearby will come here for jogging.

But I must say that this view is truly exhilarating! It's breathtaking and puts you in awe! Can even do TikTok here because the background is just priceless! It's like the bests place for instagramable scenic views and also TikTok-worthy.

We stopped at Nira Nipah Klasik for lunch and it was our first time seeing the pokok Nipah and tasting the pure sweet juice from the fruits of this tree. It was truly lovely! An inspiring place to be at and a place you can just take your mind off things and just allow creativity to flow.

Definitely after a very relaxing and I will daresay it is a healing trip, you will surely miss this place the most and want to bring more people to come and see Perlis for the beauty that is hiding within.

Just ten days before the first performance, six containers unload tons of material. First, the venue has to be measured and marked, after which more than 80 anchors are rammed into the ground, to support the Big Top. The four 13-meter-high main poles are hydraulically installed. The 11-meter long dome hangs from it and four pieces of the tent fabric are tied and pulled upwards. Then the grand stand is assembled to fit a maximum capacity of 900 people. The wooden floor is laid and the carpet is rolled out. The artist's entrance with the red velvet curtain is set up and countless spotlights and the sound system are attached to the main poles. Two huge air conditioning chillers are connected by pipes to the tent. Power generators are mounted and erected in the awning; food stands are set up and decorated. After six days of hard work, the circus is set up. Now the artists have 4 days to get used to the new environment and together with lighting designers, sound engineers and choreographers, a new show is put together from single performances.

From dawn to dusk, rehearsing until the show comes together into a harmonious unity. Now the show can begin!

Kebun Mangga Harumanis Wan Pa, Perlis

Right after checking in, we didn't delay further. We went to Sadiah Cafe for dinner and we were quite early.

So we decided to visit the Kebun Mangga Harumanis Wan Pa right opposite Sadiah Cafe that you can just walk over in 10 minutes. We saw some guests and staff that actually was enjoying their evening walks/jog along the paddy field there.

We said we will be back and we were. We came here during the mid term school holidays and my kids enjoyed every moment of nature! Nature to the maxima!

We were greeted by the beauty of nature, the lizards, the "tokek" lizard aka gecko atleast 3 different types greeted us. Then a few variation of lipas (roaches) from the paddy field also passed by us. The moth greeted us in full blown at the light next to the door when we open to go toilet. Hence why we avoid going toilet after midnight, because it is outside. OUTSIDE! But it's fun. I screamed but still fun.

I screamed in the shower, I screamed going to the toilet, I screamed in the room. Screamed because nature surprised me, so I excited until scream la. But only short while, I got used to it, thank God. I screamed on behalf of my kids and then shrugged it off when they looked at me, they almost freaked out ahahahaha I had to do emotional control and steady okay. That's my challenge lolx.

And I found out, it's normal. All KL people come here sure scream first hahahaha. The good news is flying roaches here are small and not big. But spray is provided in the rooms. Apart from the fun of nature, we also enjoyed the view. My kids for the first time in years, woke up midnight to pee, got out from the bed, looked at the door to the back and then climb back on bed to sleep. They didn't pee in bed, so good la. Must go nature more, train them better hahahaaha!

There's no sound proof, so middle of the night if you hearing knocking on the house is because it's wood la, hot and cold will make the material expand and etc. Then when wind blow sure la the blinds at Rumah Sadiah opposite will hit against the railing. Not to forget, the frogs will be happily hopping around. My husband woke up early for his morning run, opened door to the toilet and the toad greeted him at the stairs, so he skipped the morning toilet and just go and run la.

I also had a good chat on the 2nd night with the lizards, thankfully got mosquito net over our bed, if not it probably shat on my head, cos it was right above my head as I was telling it to go out and talk la... They walked to the edge of the roof and talked. It was behind my head, haiyo... And I-kid-you-not, these lizards talk louder than me ok... Can hear them over the phone! They literally eavesdrop on my conversation and responds accordingly. So advanced!

The pool was not cold, water just nice because the weather was hot. However, thankfully we were near the mountain so sometimes the wind blows the cloud over and it will just rain once in awhile. One night it rained so heavy, we all thought what happens if flood le? But no la, it's all in our imagination la. My mom said the rain rumbled so loud and not sharp but very loud like it's just next to us. The thunder and lightning also sound different here compared to KL wei! That's why u must come experience all these! Cannot buy back these experiences.

Will we be back again? Yes.

Why? Because fun.

But? Will stay at another rumah for a change, rumah Wan Pa was the oldest and a traditional home that is worth experiencing once. We love how authentic it is and really bring us right in nature, not close to nature, immediately in touch with nature. It's a love-hate with the creepy crawlies but I feel it's still better than camping in the jungle.

Oh, did we mention that our home was just next to the paddy field/bendang? So the slugs and leeches were behind on the floor at the toilet, my mom had fun kicking them away and stepping on some. Apparently, if you step on them, they don't die. So ya, it was fun lolx!

Breakfast here at the rooftop is the best la, above Rumah Sadiah. But don't go there if got someone staying downstairs, because they can hear your every footsteps. Breakfast buffet at Sadiah Cafe just a 3 minute walk is also very famous until sold out by 8ish am. Because rm2 per pax, you can have nasi lemak, toast, western choices, it's worth it!

But the main highlight here is also their Harumanis mangoes that is in season but running low in stock. If you want the real harumanis, please come here during April-June, call them before coming.

It is juicy, meaty and you will definitely ask for more! Harumanis can only be grown here in Perlis, among the many states in Malaysia, only Perlis can have such delicacies real, authentic on its own. Don't be fooled by the OEM ones and those from Thailand. Get the real mango deal here, serious.

Get Educated And Be Certified As The First Ever Durex Expert!

Yes! You heard that right. Durex is schooling youth on the ins and outs of intimacy and staying safe to address the rise in sexual activity.

With the rise in sexual activity amongst youths in Malaysia, Durex, the world’s #1 sexual well-being brand, is taking bold steps in providing a safe platform where young Malaysians can learn and find the right information and facts about sexual health at the first ever Durex Academy.

Based on the survey conducted in 2022, the average age of Gen Z’s first intercourse experience is between 15 and 22 years old. 1 in 3 believe that sex shown in pornography is normal sex and alarmingly, 31% did not know that a woman could get pregnant the first time she engages in sex. Almost 40% believe the myth that STIs are only transmitted through penetrative sex and more than 1 out of 5 youth have sexted* before (*sent a provocative text or lewd photo). These findings initiated the Durex #COMETOGETHER campaign which focused on helping young Malaysians speak out and learn about sex through an enjoyable, safe and reliable platform and drive conversations around the subject matter without fear or stigma.

The Durex Academy, which is an extension of the #COMETOGETHER initiative, now takes that same objective to the next level. Aimed at cultivating safe and healthy intimate practices, encouraging more open conversations around sex and destigmatising myths and taboos surrounding sexuality education, Durex Academy is a continuous effort to address the survey findings by breaking it down into learning modules covering three main syllabuses.

Kicking-off with Ms. Puiyi earlier in the month, the campaign will feature an online semester covering three main syllabus which are Let’s Warm Up, #ComeTogether Prepared and Sexy Facts 101. Each syllabus has been designed to address misconceptions and educate young Malaysians on accurate and enlightening information about sex, health and pleasurable safety. The segments will cover topics such as consent and bodily autonomy; sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention; and communication and relationship skills. Making it even more interactive are the Masterclass video sessions conducted by Durex Academy lecturers Daphne Iking, Alex Chee and Alvy Joanna.

As an added bonus, students of Durex Academy will also receive a personalised e-certificate and a mystery gift once they have completed the S-Level exams online, and be empowered with better knowledge, understanding, and the confidence to make informed decisions about their bodies, relationships, and overall well-being.

In conjunction with Ramadhan and the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations, ShopeeFood together with Pizza Hut organised several berbuka puasa sessions across Klang Valley and Selangor for its fleet of food delivery partners.

It's the time of the year again for the Holy month of Ramadan. A time where Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (sawm), prayer, reflection and community. And this time we were in the embrace of Mercure Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie hotel at Shah Alam.

We got to experience the "Nostalgia Selera Kampung" widespread of delicacies and variety of cuisines here that is definitely to our liking. And the price package is pretty affordable to be honest. And I love how that you can also opt for the Nostalgia Staycation Package that includes the Ramadan buffet as part of the package. This is perfect for families travelling from afar.

The entire setup was really nostalgic per say. The environment, the decoration to the feel of the lighting and music were just all in place. But I think let's move straight into the food because that's the main highlight!

My kids really enjoyed their meals here, so I will say it is kids-friendly. Also did I mention they were delighted that they could enjoy their staycation here that was bundled with the Ramadhan buffet too for only RM325 per room. We topped up a little because we wanted a bigger room so we stayed in the Executive suite.

Nipah Klasik, Perlis

We filled our hungry tummy with lunch before driving back 5 hours plus to KL.

Our final stop was at Nipah Klasik in Perlis. It was a unique place with all the Nira Nipah plants. It was my first time seeing this plant and knowing about the fruit that produces a lovely sweet juice that was very refreshing!

It was a place that was built like an activity area for sight-seeing and also staycation but later when people came by, this place eventually took a turn from becoming a staycation, they decided to make it a restaurant that people can still enjoy the sight seeing here, find inspiration as the wind breeze across the tree leaves; Whilst enjoy a nice hot meal here. They still kept the activity here like the paddling boat that kids and adult can also partake to get upclose with the Nira Nipah trees.

But the food and beverage choices here is truly aplenty!

Their specialty it the Nira Nipah drink that came from this weird harden shell like flower bulb that is the source of this juice and it is not easy to extract the juice out.

I was grateful that I got to see and taste the fresh Nira Nipah direct from the plant itself. It was sweet and refreshing and apparently if you kept it fermented it can turn into a kind of alcohol like "Tuak".

Many places here you can also have selfie as well. You will be surprise to know that besides Harumanis Mango and fresh seafood, and paddy fields here. There is also Nira Nipah that you should check out!

@sebrinahyeo Lunch at @nipahklasik in Perlis is definitely a hidden gem in this beautiful peaceful town. I got to enjoy the taste of nature the Nira Nipah juice direct from this cute looking plant. It’s my first time seeing this and when the wind blows through the trees, you hear the leaves rattling and chatting with one another, it is actually quite aesthetic and calming that can actually trigger inspiration in artists and creative individuals alike. It is pretty high up here as you can see the wind blowing through my hair. And I took many many many beautiful shots here as it is picturesque and just perfect at every angle!
