Where does time go? The last time I wrote a post here, I was newly engaged and somewhat excited for my future.

Today, I'm four days away from celebrating the fifth month that our son has been in this world.

Just a Little Update

I'm sitting here watching my girls lose the fight against sleep. I was supposed to be continuing my journey with Queen Nora today, but I felt more like talking about my life.

It's been a whole three years since a tiny tuxedo kitten turned my life upside down. Benjen was a catalyst in so many ways. I genuinely believe that if it weren't for Benjen being the ass that he is, I'd still be in an unhappy relationship or I'd still be living with my sister. I feel like he was sent from my mom.

Now, I am with a man that I absolutely adore and who reciprocates every emotion. He loves me at my worst and is proud of nearly everything that I do. He makes me want to be everything I can be, but I know without a doubt that if I fail at something, he won't judge me. We can talk for hours and we still laugh at the same stupid one-liners. We are genuinely best friends. Even when I come home impulsively with two kittens, he never got angry or disappointed. He just said, "Your heart is too big". We are still living with his dad, but are really gearing up now to get a place of our own. With him, I see a future. I see a wedding, a home, babies, that stupid, impractical picket fence.

A year and a half after meeting, we're engaged, we are both running our departments, and are the proud guardians of three fur babies. I can't wait to see what we do next.

You know how I said in my March Ipsy Spoiler video that I was going to probably skip the March bag? Well, apparently messed up and didn't skip the month. Nope. Instead of skipping the Ipsy Bag this month, I'm receiving all three bags. The Ipsy Bag, the Ipsy Plus Bag, and the Ipsy Ultimate Bag. This will be the first time I've gotten all three bags so, it'll be fun to compare. I doubt this will be repeated any time soon though so, don't get used to it.

February Glam Bag a Skip?

I love pink. Anyone who knows me is aware of this. I also love cosmetics and samples and skincare and Ipsy, but.... I will be skipping February's Glam Bag.

I can't afford it. $12 doesn't seem like a lot of money, but I just switched jobs and have not gotten my first paycheck. I still have bills to catch up on so, some things that aren't a necessity are being put on hold.
Not in love with the bag design. None of the three designs speak to me. I'm hoping for a beautiful green moment for March. I think maybe I was spoiled way too hard with January's bags. February's is just not doing anything for me.
I wasn't impressed by the products. At this point, I need something more than some balm or a lipgloss to be excited. I also don't need a twentieth bottle of moisturizer.

Tyler and I will still be doing the Universal Yums boxes. We haven't filmed January's yet only because of the job switch and I had a bad cold for the last two weeks. I'll try my best to convince him to record when he gets home from work.

I loved the Glam Bag, but the Glam Bag Ultimate is my soulmate. This bag couldn't be more perfect if I'd verbally told Ipsy what I wanted. I genuinely didn't even look at what products I'd be getting in the GBU because I simply wanted the bag.

I am loving this mint green, snot-like serum. I add it to my facial lotion every night and it makes it even better.
THANN Eden Breeze Body Butter (value $19)
My new favorite moisturizer. It smells a bit like essential oils, but I'm into that.
F.A.R.A.H BRUSHES 160F Face Brush (value $12)
This brush matches the bags and I honestly don't want to use it because it's so pretty.
MARC ANTHONY Leave-In Conditioner (full size value $6.99)
I've used it once now, but I don't have any experience with leave-in conditioners so, I can't necessarily say if it's good or bad. It smelled nice, the smell disappeared quickly.
PRETTY WOMAN Nail Polish in "Don't Be Jelly" (value $7.99)
I love nail polishes. That's no secret. Don't Be Jelly is a dark mix of maroon and purple. It's pretty, but nothing to write home about. It also has a weird gel-like finish.
AVETTE Daily Fresh Squeeze Sheet Mask Duo (value $8/pair)
One of the mask had been punctured in transit so, I threw it on as soon as I got it. It was delightful. I'm looking forward to trying the other one.
HEY HONEY Honey & Copper Peel Off Mask (value $49)
While I have discovered that I love sheet masks, I have also learned how much I loathe peel-off masks. LOATHE ENTIRELY. I will try this one, but that doesn't mean I am looking forward to it.
THEBALM COSMETICS What's the Tea? Ice Tea Palette (value $36)
OMG! The GBU had a full palette in it! A beautiful full palette that has two of its own primers.
THIS WORKS Deep Sleep Pillow Spray (value $29)
This spray smells of lavender and I hate lavender. I will give it a try because I can't know if something works unless I try it.
AHAVA Essential Day Moisturizer (value $67)
Yet another Ahava product... another moisturizer. Maybe I'll see if Tyler wants to keep it in the Subie.
FLESH Touch Flesh Highlighter Balm in "Startle" (value $18)
I can't stop calling this highlighter "Fleshlight".... I just can't. It's a very, very subtle highlight. I think if I ever stop wearing the Columbia jacket Ginger Dad got me for Christmas, I might just use it as a body highlight like our lady Tati.
TARTE Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in "Festival" (value $20)
My new favorite lippie. It's so close to my natural lip color that it's perfect to slap on and go. It just accentuates my lips like nothing else has.

All in all, I paid $50 for this bag. The full value of everything included is $292.98. That's a 17% difference! I'm genuinely impressed.

Ipsy | January Glam Bag

I can honestly say that this was the first month I was anxiously waiting for my Ipsy bag. I was so excited about January's design that I snagged the Ultimate as well. I've received both my bags and they are even more beautiful in person. Now... onto the innards of said bags.

January's Glam Bag had the following products:

AHAVA Dead Sea Water Mineral Hand Cream in "Sea Kissed" (full size value $24)
I wasn't too excited about another Ahava product because I have so many and I can only put on so much lotion. Sun Kissed is delightfully light and even better, it's said to by eczema and psoriasis friendly. I have eczema on my hands that makes using lotions and things a trial and error situation. So far, Ipsy has given me very nice lotions that don't agitate my eczema.
MORPHE Fluidity Full-Coverage Concealer in 1.55 (full size value $9)
I was able to choose a product for my Glam Bag and I was delighted to see a Morphe product on my list of options. I had a tiny sample from Ulta of Morphe foundations once, but never did get around to using them as I wasn't nearly as comfortable with cosmetics as I am now. This concealer is a genuinely decent match to my skin tone and I may honestly use it more as a foundation.
CELA Seed to Skin Scrub Natural Grain Polish (full size value $34)
I honestly less than thrilled about this product because I thought it was another facial scrub. I have soooooo many facial scrubs and masks to try. My poor face. Imagine my happiness and the happiness of my face when I realized it was a body scrub. Now I'm genuinely excited to try it as I only have one other scrub and I'm not too fond of it. It also smells nice.
CIATE LONDON Glow to Illuminating Blush in "Pinch Me" (full size value $26)
This gorgeous blush is stunning in the pan and very light and gentle shade. I used it as an eye shadow and it is so cute.
JULES SMITH BEAUTY Power Gloss in "Moonbeam Dream" (full size value $18)
I wouldn't use this by itself probably. With the right lippie, it is a gorgeous topper though. Jules Smith Beauty also has one of the most beautiful logos I've seen yet.

All in all, I absolutely love the January Glam Bag. The marble, pink, rose gold look is my perfect aesthetic and I would coat my entire life with it if I could.

Bonnie & Clyde | The I-Land | Episode 4

Chase wakes up back on the beach, but according to the other I-Land-ers, it's only been ten minutes since she was knocked out. She tries to explain to them what had happened, but of course they don't believe her.

We find out why Hayden was in the prison. She was in the front seat of a car with a guy when she tells him that he knew her friend and that he should take his pants off. He starts undoing his pants and she stabs him repeatedly in the neck. Woah.

Chase takes off running down the beach when they want to search her. The group catches up to her and are all over her when two strangers appear, stopping them. Chase is convinced the duo - Bonnie and Clyde - were sent by the warden. She mentions that the couple hadn't mentioned anything about the dead body. Surprise! Bonnie and Clyde are bad people. Clyde stabs Hayden, saying that she'd killed Brody because of what he'd done to K.C.

Moses, Cooper, and K.C go searching for this "village" Bonnie and Clyde told them about. They find a beautiful beach with eight or nine huts.

Mason was a mass shooter. K.C. murdered her child. Blair was an Angel of Mercy. Chase killed her mother.

"Small But Mighty" | The I-Land | Episode 3

Chase has a magnetic force field around her, keeping her immobile. A doctor lets it slip that it's required for anyone in the prison system. We meet Warden Wells (good ol' Bruce McGill). He says something about her having military training.

We learn that the I-Land was a mental simulation. It was a test to see how they would do if they had a second chance in the real world. He says that once she's done with all of her evaluations are over, they want to send her back in.

The nurse comes in to give her a sleep aid and she ends up attacking the guards and taking the nurse as a shield. She gets out of the facility, but is eventually hit in the face with the butt of a gun.

After meetings with neuroscientists and the warden, Chase is told she's going back into the program. She refuses to go back in, but the warden chains her by the neck outside and let's his guards fight her. They come out looking way worse than she does.

In transport to the other facility, where she'll be reinserted, she escapes custody. She finds all of her fellow I-Land-ers in hydro pools just before the warden shows up and finally puts her back into the program.

No Kyle Schmid this episode. Boo!

"Ding Dong" | The I-Land | Episode 2

Chase wakes up to see a raft hanging out in the water. She runs toward it, only to step on something sharp and hurt herself. For some reason, she decides to take her knife belt off and jump into the water, bleeding everywhere. Nobody watches Shark Week on these shows, do they? She somehow makes it to the raft while the shark chases her. The shark is chasing Chase. Ha. The raft turns out to be this weird floating tent thingy with a bunch of supplies in it. She kindly, and inexplicably, drags it back to the beach. I say inexplicably because the thing is massive and could easily hold all of them, but she somehow she either oared back or dragged it.... we come back from the title sequence to her standing on the beach next to it.

"I'm a skinny-ass white girl, doesn't mean I don't like to eat." No truer words have ever been uttered. Too bad I absolutely hate the character who said them. K.C. is emotionless, but forces a strange abrasive demeanor when dealing with Chase. She instantly had an issue with her and only her.

A storm is coming. A fight occurs between Brody and Cooper, resulting in Brody grabbing Chase's knife. Brody and Cooper go into the jungle. As the storm comes in, Chase leads everyone to the giant house of a tent.

In the morning, Chase finds her smashed conch shell and the tracker. She runs down the beach to find Brody (Pettyfer) just cooking some crabs over a fire. She tells him he should go wake the others and goes about trying to use the tracker to open a lockbox she'd found. She gets it open and finds a pistol.

K.C. confesses to Blair that Brody attacked her.

Chase and Cooper walk up the cliffs to see if they can spot anything.

Can we talk about how amazing Taylor's hats are???? She made hats like nobody's business. And her friendship with Moses is absolutely adorable and made me legitimately smile. He catches a fish and she runs down the beach to congratulate him as he tells her she owes him a hat.

Chase and Cooper find a mansion in the jungle. They tell the group about it, but Brody fights Chase because his waterfall is way cooler place to live. Who would want to live in a mansion with beds and running water? Also.... super suspish. They get into a physical altercation which leads the group to send both Chase and Brody away.

Chase wakes up in the tent when the group drags her out of it. Brody had been stabbed and left for dead on the beach. Ding dong, the creep is dead. She tries to fight her way from the group, but K.C. clocks her in the face with a branch or something.

When she comes to, she's in a base of some sort, numb from the neck down. It's the I-Land facility.

"Sandwiches!" | The I-Land | Episode 1

The only reason I'm giving this show a watch is because of Kyle Schmid. If you know anything about me, you know that he's been a part of my world and imagination for over a decade. He is my character casting for Emmett/Nevin so.... pretty important. And he just keeps getting better with age. Like a wine. Or a well-kept craft beer.

We wake up on an island with no memory of who we are, where we are, why, how...

One wakes up with a conch shell, the other with a knife. Instantaneous mistrust starts.

They find that their identical shirts have tags with names on them. Not knowing if those are their actual names, they take these names as their own.

Moses's theory is that they were dropped there by aliens to harvest their organs.

Blair and Donovan decide to go for a swim in the unknown waters of this unknown island. For some reason they are surprised when sharks show up. Donovan is eaten. We do find out that Moses was probably a lifeguard at some point because he recognizes that Blair is panicking and rushes to save her from drowning.

Brody turns out to be super rapey and not nice. He attacks Chase at a waterfall of fresh water, which he decides to not tell the group about. When she comes back to the camp, she attacks him by smacking him with what looks like a giant wooden fish skeleton.

Chase has a dream of a tiny room, blood on the floor, and her shooting someone. Fun.

Oh, Donovan is alive! What? How?

Mason and Hayden find that everyone who woke up on the beach were exactly thirty-nine steps apart from each other. Everything they found buried in the beach had been thirty-nine steps apart. They walked a little further and found a sign thirty-nine steps away that read "FIND YOUR WAY BACK". Chase sees this as a figurative sign and not just a literal one. The group doesn't believe her so, she gets angry and smashes her conch. Inside the shell, it says PROPERTY OF THE I-LAND and there is a tracker.

Inventory #13: Kenzie Life Beat

This little beauty came in the February Ipsy bag and I'm so glad it did. Like my Rose and Chill nail polish, I was initially not excited about it, but it quickly became one of my go-to's. The smell of this perfume is delightful. It's prominent, but not overbearing.

The full item retails at $38.49... I'll wait until I become big and famous to buy a replacement travel size of this beauty.

Inventory #12: Nyx Matte Finish

This is the finishing spray I actually use on a daily basis. I will be honest and say that I don't know much about finishing sprays, but this one seems to get the job done. It holds everything together well. It does feel like hairspray when it gets in my hair, which I loathe.

Inventory #11: Neutrogena Hydro Boost

I don't use this product often anymore because I stopped exfoliating as much. It's a great way to quickly rehydrate your skin if you use a more abrasive cleanser or other product. It leaves your skin nice and smooth and feeling like it can take on anything. It's also very, very cold.

I absolutely love lip products that keep my lips nice and smooth as my lips are always cracking up. Jeffree Star Cosmetics makes the best, most delicious lip scrubs. I have the pumpkin pie one and it tastes so good. And it works.

Movie Review: An American Crime

I've decided to start my From A-Z horror marathon again on my Amazon Prime. The list happened to start with a bunch of movies I'd already seen so, I found the first one I hadn't and this gem popped up.

An American Crime - not to be confused with American Crime Story - has an all-star cast, but back when they were relatively unknown and it's great.

Sylvia and Jennie's parents are carnies. Their dad is played by Nick Searcy, who I absolutely adored on Justified. He decides that his wife and he would be able to move the carnival circuit easier without the kids. So when the girls meet some other girls on the church bus and they invited them to hang out at their house, their dad decides to take the opportunity to leave his daughters with these strangers. Gertrude, the mother of the church bus girls, is a struggling mother of six children.

When the checks don't start coming in, Gertrude whips the girls with a belt. It escalates when Paula, the eldest of Gertrude's kids, becomes pregnant from a tryst with a married guy. Sylvia, trying to save her from being beaten by the man, tells him of the pregnancy. Angered by this, Paula tells her mom that Sylvia spread rumors that she is a slut. This prompts Gertrude's rage and frustration to move solely to Sylvia. She decides that Sylvia should stay in the basement. In front of her children and her daughter's boyfriend, Gertrude has Sylvia insert an empty glass bottle into her vagina. What the actual hell??

All the neighborhood kids find out that they can go after school and abuse the girl in the basement. They burn her with cigarettes and hose her down, beat her. Paula has had enough and regrets everything. After she goes to the Reverend, he comes to talk to her mom. This sends Gertrude off the rails and she decides to brand "I am a prostitute and proud of it" into Sylvia's stomach.

Paula manages to sneak Sylvia out of the house and Ricky (Evan Peters) takes her all the way to her parents at the carnival. Reunited, they go back to the house to get Jennie. Sylvia walks into the house to find Stephanie (Scout Taylor-Compton) trying to revive a body. Sylvia's body.

While being branded, Sylvia has died.

In court, Gertrude said every one of her children was lying and that she'd had no knowledge of what was going on in her home.

I'm going to make another post about this movie, but I have to go to work now. :(
