Let UNCLE SAM Pay Your START-UP COSTS for a New Business

“Costs incurred during the START-UP PHASE of a business are generally deductible over a 15 year period” (i.e., each $1,500 in start-up costs would be deducted at a rate of $100 per year for 15 years). IRC Sec 195(c)(1)(A)

What IS THE “SPECIAL DEDUCTION” FOR 2011?

Any taxpayer who begins operation of a new business in 2011, may deduct ALL start-up costs (up to $5,000 maximum on their 2011 tax returns — no need to spread the deduction over a 15 year period. IRC Sec 195(b)

EX: $5,000 in Start-Up Cost deductions, for a person in a 28% tax bracket, would generate a $1,400 tax Refund.

If Start-Up Cost deductions exceed the amount of money earned this year in the home-based business itself, most or all of the additional deductions may be applied against any other source of income such as a W-2 job, which could possibly even drop the taxpayer into a lower tax bracket.

This one-time write-off provision in the tax law is valid only during 2011, and therefore will set to expire permanently at midnight, December 31, 2011. Even IF Congress reinstates this provision in 2012, a business begun after Jan. 1, 2012 will not be able to claim those deductions until April 2013 – when 2012 Tax Returns are filed.

Not activating a new home-based business by December 31, 2011, will delay tax-deductions for Start-Up Costs by at least 15 months.

WHAT ARE “START-UP COSTS?”

The term includes business related costs you incur prior to actually beginning to offer goods or services for sale i.e., the costs of getting ready to open your business. They are generally the same types of expenses that will be called “business operating costs” once you are actually operating a business.

IRC Sec 195(c)(1)(B)

Q: When does the start-up period begin?

A: When you begin thinking about starting a business.

Q: What are some examples of tax-deductible “start-up costs?” IRC Sec 195(c)(1)(A)

A: Seminars, Workshops, Courses and Books on how to run the business Investigating or Researching one or more business opportunities Travel for meetings, conventions or interviews or to obtain education from experts Telephone and cellular phone costs related to new business start-up Office supplies and some business tools (briefcase, iPad, business cards, etc.) DOES NOT INCLUDE vehicles, furniture, computers and other depreciable assets IRC Sec 167(a)

EXCEPTIONS: Money spent qualifying to begin a certain type of business, general are not deductible. This includes getting a degree, obtaining a license to practice (doctors, real estate…), etc.

The IRS “default setting” for start-up expenses is to deem that the taxpayer made a decision to amortize the amounts over a 15 year period. Reg Sec 1.195-1T(b) To keep that from happening, and claim your seductions immediately, you should take 2 actions: Reg Sec 1.195-1T(b)

Claim your Start-Up Expenses on IRS Form 4562 (“Depreciation and Amortization”)
Attach an “election statement” to your tax return, stating specifically that you wish to claim all (or the first $5,000) of your Start-Up Expenses in 2011, “the year in which your business became active.”

By the way, since Start-Up Expenses are ONLY deductible in the year in which the business begins active operation, if the business you are investigating never gets off the ground, you will not get any deductions. IRC Sec. 165

The term residual income in MLM conjures up images of a relaxed life, long vacations, and a leisurely lifestyle. However, despite hard work by many, they never achieve this dream. There is a way though to accelerate your path to this dream.

What you need to take advantage of is something known as leverage in order to build real residual income. Leverage in the traditional sense is something that multiplies your efforts.

The famous Greek mathematician Archimedes said, “Give me a lever long enough and I can move the world”.

So how does this apply to residual income in MLM? You must do everything you can to apply, create and exert whatever leverage you can in your business.

The amount of money being made online would blow most people’s minds. It is so much that it leaves most people asking if it is real or simply hype. Let’s take a few minutes to examine why it is that normal people are leaving their present line of work to find endless riches on the internet.

The answer to why many people are making these unheard of amounts of money on the internet is one simple answer, volume. Any successful business person will tell you that the secret to massive profits is being able to reach as many people as humanly possible, and when you think about it, this makes perfect sense. Internet Marketing companies have been around for as long as most of us can remember. But pre-internet marketing reps could only really sell to people they could talk to. This left most people only really having access to friends and family or people they could drive to. The really dedicated individuals would drive to nearby cities or if they had the money they would fly to nearby cities to tell new entrepreneurs about their opportunity. Unfortunately, that left the people without the funds in the dust, due to the fact that people with money could fly to different cites and not only that had the money to advertise and really reach a large population.

This was the biggest problem with early day marketers. The ones with the money had a huge advantage over the ones that were simply going door to door. As you can see, volume played a huge role in marketing in the past as well. This left the industry at somewhat of a stand still. People learned very quickly without the funds to get the word out about their opportunity, that they would never truly see the riches they were told about when they first signed up. This left a very bad taste in people’s mouths for the simple reason it did not matter how great their company was. If there was even one other person in their area doing the same thing, they would be late to the party and their potential customers had already heard about it and made their decision on whether it was for them or not.

This was a hurdle many never got over and felt the idea of making money in any form of a home business was on the same level as winning the lotto. Now having said that, did anyone make money in marketing in the early days? You better believe it! There were people that were making more money than they could have ever dreamed of. Remember, the more they made the more they could afford to advertise, therefore every time their company grew they could afford to let their company grow more. This was really good for the small percentage that did this, really bad for the ones that never got over the start up hump, as I like to call it. So like in all walks of life, the rich got richer and poor, well you know how that goes.

Then the internet came along. Now this really changed everything. Now an individual with very little money could not only sell to their street, city or even neighboring city, they could sell to the country or even the world. With little or no money at all a person could get their message out to an incredible amount of people by simply hitting their send button. As long as they armed themselves with the knowledge they needed to be computer savvy, they were now on the same, if not bigger playing field than the people that have been drowning them out for decades. The real kicker behind all of this, the knowledge they needed could be found for free! Could this be true? For one of the first times in history a common person with a good work ethic could now compete with people that have been in the game for almost 30 years and they were winning. And why were they winning? Volume, the key was volume. They could talk to people on the other side of the world from their basements. They could network with people from all over the country at the speed of light.

I would love to tell you that this is where the story ends and the little guy won, but there was one small problem. Believe or not, the only problem was too many customers. The early internet marketer found that with the internet brought literally thousands of people looking and wanting information about their opportunity. With not being able to answer the land slides of e-mails coming in, their future prospects became wary of the lack of personal attention. They put it off as a pipe dream due to the fact that they never heard back from this person that claimed that the internet was the way to go. An ironic end to think that it was too many people that crumbled their business and not like the early days of not enough people.

Once again as always times have changed and we have learned the errors of our ways. Today there is software that will help internet marketers tame the mass amount of people and are able to address their future down line on auto pilot. This does not mean that this software can run your company for you and all you have to do is simply buy these programs and you will make enough money to buy a small country. Nothing could be farther from the truth. It simply means that after you have done your homework and set up your campaigns that the software will take care of the little details for you so that you can continue to promote your product or opportunity to the masses.

So as you can see the tools are in place for you to start your own company and run it without having to hound friends and family to get involved. There are literally hundreds of thousands of people looking for products and work from home opportunities on the internet right now as you read this article. The key to making the kinds of money people claim to make, is having the knowledge and work ethic to get in front of these people and have the correct marketing platform or software to help you run your business so you can keep up with the demand.

Choosing the right Keywords is the first and most critical step of any SEO campaign. So they need to be chosen very carefully.

Following are the best places to use your Keywords:

Title Tags

Search results always show the title tag as your page title. The Title must be short, say 6-12 words. The Keywords can be anywhere in the tag, but preferably near the beginning of the title.

Anchor Text

Anchor text with Keyword focus from external links is and important factor. Inbound links are considered positive not only for the site, but for the Keywords as well.

Headings

The Keywords placed in the headings is an important factor, but the page should have actual text relevant to the Keywords. Try to keep them short (7-10 words). Also, use them in the H2 and H3 headings..

URL

It helps to rank well, but keyword should be in other parts of the website. It should not be over optimized because you might be penalized for over use.

Alt Tags

Label images on your page with ALT/TITLE tag filled with some keywords, as spiders do read these tags.

Meta Tags

Yahoo and Bing still rely on them, Google does not. Having these tags properly filled will do no harm, so just do
