They are based on Ice, Fire, Water and Earth. The jungle room (Earth) looks beautiful, with palm trees surrounding the dance floor and rain drops falling from the ceiling. The volcano room (Fire) has black walls with lava and a bright orange dance floor. The ice room is lovely, but the colours are luminous so you wouldn't want to stay in there very long. The underwater room (Water) is equally as bright as the ice room but does make it feel like your underwater. All the rooms are large with enough room for the DJ booth and dance floor. Some of the events are held in these rooms depending on the contest theme. There is a seating area hidden away on a lower level than the dance floor, and it's the perfect place to have a drink, watch people dancing and chat with friends. Above the seating area is a stage for the dancers, and there is also a stage for live music.

Events start at around 12pm slt, and end at the latest 11pm slt depending on the day. They are closed from Sunday to Tuesday but open for the rest of the week. You will be given a schedule of events for that week when you arrive there.

I went to the club at 5pm last Friday (12th June), and although it was busy, most of the people there were members of staff. There was two managers, the security man, the DJ host and the DJ. Up until around 6/ 6.30 pm the chat was minimal, mostly the manager announcing how long it was till the random prize giver was going to burst. I was there till around 7ish, by then there was more chat but between only a few guests and they were chatting in Spanish.

The DJ was Azufr3 Catteneo and he was playing trance remixes of mainstream chart hits. He's an excellent DJ and you can tell that he loves music and DJing. As well as being an SL DJ, he also works as one in RL. He also has the perfect voice for DJing, and definitely easy on the eyes.

The best parts of the evening were listening to awesome music and winning a L$250 gift card for Rebel Hope (YAY). I love the design of the club, the separate rooms but there could have been a bit more chat between people.

*Taken from http://www.costaricasims.com/webhome/

http://slurl.com/secondlife/San%20Jose%20City/115/126/31

Club Quake ★★★★

Club Quake is definitely a strange but really cool beach club. The club is in what seems to be an old ruined temple of some sort, which has been placed on a beautiful tropical island. It's very different from other tropical beach clubs I've seen so far. As well as having the club part of the island, there are some smaller islands with places to sit down. There are also a few beach huts with vendors selling all sorts of items and a Drive In Cinema (that I haven't seen yet) showing some of the latest movies.

I got the landmark for the club from a notice that was sent via one of the advertising groups. I'd never been to Club Quake so I decided to go down and have a look. When I arrived I landed on the dance floor and I was greeted by the hostess and DJ. The event was Best in Tattoos, and there were 9 or so people there showing off very sexy and elaborate tattoos. It was around 3pm on a Thursday that I went to the club. There was plenty of chat and minimal gestures, possibly due to the Quaker Announcer asking people not to use loud gestures or over play them. They have a Trivia machine too which I think is brilliant because it keeps people chatting, plus it's very amusing when the category is sex. They have around 5 dance poles, and at the event last night there were two strippers on the poles. Very good looking ladies I might add.

I spoke to one of the owners of the club, Lexie Demar, and she explained to me that the events start at around 2pm slt and end at 8pm, except on Fridays and Saturdays when they run till 10pm slt. The music ranges depending on the event, for example, the second event was Best In Black so the DJ played songs that were associated with Black. Lexie told me that they have around 10 DJ's and they only hire the ones that have a variety of genres of music to suit any event.

If you want to know about the club, the staff and events etc, they have their own website, which isn't very aesthetically pleasing (ooh big word lol) but it provides all the info that you need.

The club is currently hiring hosts and dancers, applications can be found at the entrance to the club, by the sign that says 'Welcome to the Jungle'

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Lunasea/32/216/22

The Mixx ★★★★

The DJ was pumping electric dance tunes, the floor was pulsating, the dancers were hot, and the owner? Delicious. Diamonique Dagger's created a hot little dance club in the Isle of Miracles called The Mixx.

The night I went, the floor was packed, the music and sexy DJ voice rockin', and I had fun dancing away with a friend who spent most of her time checkin' out the hot guests on the dance floor.

Dancers gyrated around the floor's edges on pedestals, with shadow dancers along the walls and a neo-retro bar at the back, complete with cute little diner stools. A sexy upstairs area included plush chairs in a more private dance setting.

... and holy crap were the dancers ever hot! Sure, every club has 'em in SL these days, but sexy ones easy on the eyes are a rare commodity. Overall, The Mixx is small, fun, and simple all with a sexy atmosphere. Can't wait to see it grow!

Oh, and the best part? No annoying vendors, lag or stupid crap. Just a cool new little club, totally worth checking out.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Royal%20Knight/36/55/22

ToonTopia ★★★

I don't think the owner of ToonTopia knew what style he wanted for the club so he decided to mix it all together. The outside of the building seems to be a cross between art deco, a medieval building and a cartoon. It has horizontal lighting running around the front which reminds me of the buildings along Miami Beach; an entrance with pillars and gold gargoyles holding vinyl disks; and the large sculpture of the ToonTopia logo that dominates the whole club area which reminds me of Warner Bros logo. There is a shopping area outside (of course) which would look like a high class shopping street if it wasn't for the glass floor with water underneath.

The interior is even more confusing. The owner has brought some more American influence inside with the Hollywood Walk of Fame style star at the entrance with the ToonTopia name on it. When I walk into the club I just see a mess of objects everywhere. The dance floor is directly in front of me and I can see 7 people dancing. Looking at the interior is just too confusing because it's so 'busy'. There is definitely plenty to look at. The wall behind me is plastered with magazine covers with images of the club dancers and in front of me on the opposite side of the club are three images of more girls and it seems to be a contest for the next ToonTopia cover girl.

To the right of the dance floor is the large DJ booth and on the left is pillars with the dance balls on. There are three levels to the club, the ground one is the dance floor, the floor with the main entrance has walkways around the dance floor and some strange, sci- fi looking seating. Confused? Me too.The upstairs has more seating, some hidden with large tables which I am guessing are for the dancers. There are also some more of the sci- fi seating with some desks. Not sure what the purpose of those are. What really tops of the weirdness is that there are pot plants around the club. See what I mean about the different styles?

Don't come to this club if you want to talk to people, unless you say something first the people here seem to dance in silence. Now I know I say that I hate gesture spamming (which I do) but seriously this is bad, there is none at all. There are now 15 people here and no one's chatting. Their excuse is that they are enjoying the music. As you might know I'm very fussy about clubs. Clubs have to have people talking, there has to be good music (I turned this music off and listening to my own) and there has to be a great atmosphere. This club has none of those key factors (in my opinion) Maybe everyone's still sleeping cos it's 6am slt but that's no excuse!!

Purely based on what I saw at the club today, the build, decor etc, I only rate it a 3. It's worth going to if this club sounds like your kind of place , if it's not then don't bother.

Advice for the owner, stick to one style of decor, and if you can't decide, make sure the styles work well together.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Toon%20Town/130/132/25

Scoutlounge ★★★★

Scoutlounge is different to any other beach club I've been to. People come here to relax, chat with friends, dance and listen to music. They don't come here to win money, there are no zyngo machines, dancers or contest. There are some high class, designer store selling suits and dresses.

4 am in Second Life is usually quiet, but today, at Scoutlounge, it was quite busy. There were between 15- 20 people throughout the 2 and a half hours I was there. The beach club is situated on a gorgeous Sim called Swiss Media, and the club is modern and stylish with seating and large dance floor. The current DJ performing is Sithut Tammas playing tribal, Latin and vocal house music. Music at this club is predominately house and chill out style, so don't come expecting anything else.

Scoutlounge is well established and very popular, they have 1866 group members and their traffic is 24099. The clientele at Scoutlounge are sexy, stylish and cool to match the decor of the club, it's a great mix of people and everyone's friendly and chatty.

The club have their own website which has everything you need to know about Scoutlounge- the DJ's, calendar of events, podcast, radio station link, galleries and interviews with their staff. Have a look at the website to see what's happening at the club.

If it's early morning and SL is quiet, head down to Scoutlounge, it's the perfect place to slowly wake up. The beats get faster as it gets later in the day and when you finally wake up your ready to party!! And there are always people there! Go and have a look for yourself.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Swiss%20Media/54/72/22

Eruption Beach Club ★★★

I landed at Eruptions and was suddenly hit with loud rock music. I sometimes teleport to clubs and teleport straight out again usually because of music. This time I stayed. Before walking to the club I cammed round (I like to see who's there first). I'd heard of the club through notices via the club advertising groups and from my old boss at The Atrium club but never actually been there.

The club has the usual small shopping area selling clothes and shoes which is normal for SL clubs. When I arrived I was greeted by the DJ (also the owner) via voice and then IM. He welcomed me, and told me about the club, event times etc. The sim is owned by len Canning and four other people. There were around 13/14 people there when I arrived but it increased as time went on to about 16 or 17 people.

len explained that they have live dj's 12 hours a day starting from 5am slt. They have event times to suit all time zones which is awesome because a lot of clubs have events from 2pm until 5pm slt.

The club itself is fair large, open roof and situated in the sea. It has the usual dj booth and a bar, with the dj/ host picture tip jars on the wall. The club is fairly popular and become more well known due to it being in the SL Showcase.

There wasn't much chatting when I arived but as people arrived the chatting increased. One thing I don't like about club is, lack of chat and too much gesture spamming. len finished djing and another dj started- Daniell Sciavo, playin vocal trance. As I write this there are 8 other av's here and more chat than there was earlier.

I would say it's worth checking the club out, and I will probably go again just to see what it's like when someone else is djing.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Tropical%20Paradise/18/109/22

Ambrosia Dance Club ★★★★★

Haiii!!! I'm Evie and this is my first review!

Today I returned to one of my favourite clubs in Second Life. Ambrosia is everything I want in a club. I remembered that is was always busy, people were friendly and the music was really good. This time it was all of these.. but even better! The landing point is situated outside the club, and surrounding you is a large shopping mall with loads of brilliant shops. Directly in front of you is the club, which dominates the mall space. It's clearly signed, so you know exactly where you are. Beside the landing point are boards with images of all the Ambrosia DJ's which is pretty cool.

As soon as I walked into the club I was greeted by the dancers on the poles and the DJ greeted me in voice chat. I instantly felt welcome when I entered the club, and I recognised some people immediately. There were roughly 16 or 17 people there but it increased to maybe 23 people.

One thing I noticed was that there aren't any couple dances hogging the dance floor, only the Intan in the corner by the stage and the scripted dance floor.

The music when I arrived was a mix of chart music, rock and some dance, then when that ended

a live singer came onto the stage, a lady called Aurora Matalung. She sang some cool romantic songs, but I don't think the time slot was the best one for her. I was all hyped up from the first dj's music then go straight into slow music wasn't really my kinda thing. Especially when she was promoting couple dancing and my hubby was at rl work :(

One good thing about the dj's at Ambrosia is that they all do voice, which is a great way to keep the vip's entertained, especially when they say people's names.

All in all this has been and will always be one of my fave clubs in sl.

Thank you for reading my first blog, hope you enjoyed! Here are a couple of snaps from my time there.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Ambrosia%20Dance%20Club/129/145/301

Frank's Place Jazz Club ★★★★★

I knew I was in for something special the moment I arrived at Frank’s Place Jazz & Dance Club.

With its huge traffic rating and popularity, I didn’t have my hopes high and boy was I stunned. It’s great!

The build is simply gorgeous. You have to come see it and get lost in it, you can wander all over. Set by the sea, from the large columns and detailed luscious dance hall, Frank’s Place delivers on a wonderful ballroom experience.

Owned by Nanceee and Gymmy Sinatra, this SL and RL couple have put together one of SL’s best jazz bars in their own sim by the same name. Walking up the stairs being greeted by the club’s manager who was standing by the door welcoming guests, I felt like I was entering a ball for a wedding or maybe a fancy cruise evening up on the main dance floor.

The club has a dress code of formal wear, with themed shops around the building if you need to pick up something quick for your night out. Everyone inside (and it was packed when I went!) was dressed up, adding to the rich ambience of the place.

Harry Connick Jr.’s “It Had to be You” was playing on the stream as I changed into a gown and wandered inside. Many couples were dancing, all dressed up, it was great! There wasn’t much public chatter on the floor and no event while I was there, but around the edges people were meeting and greeting, finding partners to dance. Aww, it’s all so cute! The notice board outside had a posting for an upcoming live jazz event.

If you want a place to escape with your loved one, Frank’s is the place to do it. There are small round tables along the balcony where you can have a romantic dinner – complete with cutlery, table cloths, glasses and candles – and then head down the magnificent stairs and slip onto the dance floor.

No detail has been left spared, right up to the framed photos of the Rat Pack up behind the bar. While I was standing writing this, a gorgeous hostess in a black dress came up to me and asked me if I was having a good time. Frank’s, like their namesake, is all class.

The experience was so immersive I actually started feeling bad for the woman in the white dress who was sitting at a table by herself drinking a martini… gosh, I hate that feeling. Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Go rescue her, guys!

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Franks%20Place/7/210/44

Club Vanity ★★★★

Club Vanity in Saint Vincent was smokin’ hot when I visited it! There was hot hip hop live on the stream by DJ Justinn Seelowe, a host was up on the stage dancing, and guests were filling up the dance floor.

A best in denim contest was underway, but the real treat was the $20,000 contest going on along the back wall. Looks like Club Vanity’s got a best male and female massive contest going on, with votes and pictures for your favourite guy or gal. Really cool!

I was so happy to arrive at a club without being bombarded by vendors, and the build was really great too, reminding me of the clubs along Cancun’s beach you’d find in Mexico. Instead of shops, a donation drive was on in one corner where you can donate to the club.

The stage at the front had dance cages and poles, and some dancing balls and couches were along the edges. There was good public chatter too, with people hanging out and having a good time.

Overall I really liked the club feel to Vanity. The light wood floors and hint of reflection is understated and classy. The closed building gives the place a great sense of space and flow. The spotlights over the dance floor add the right feel for a party.

Great stuff! Their events are posted.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Saint%20Vincent/37/27/27

Club Incircle ★★

Club Incircle, located in Seawind Oasis, is what I’d describe as your totally typical Second Life club, for better and for worse.

It has all the elements: a big glowing dance floor, a money exploder, a contest board, dancer poles, tip jars, a life DJ streaming some heavy metal, guests wearing VIP tags, and of course shops and advertisements surrounding it all.

When I arrived, there were a dozen people hanging out dancing. Anything wrong with any of this? Nope, definitely not, all the basics are covered. It’s just… well, maybe I’m getting jaded with all the clubs I’m visiting now, but there’s just nothing… unique! It really is your typical club.

I found everything at Club Incircle the same really as everywhere else. And more than some others, there seemed to be more time spent on getting all the vendor areas right than creating a dance-friendly atmosphere for guests. I guess to me it kinda seemed more like a giant dance floor smacked into the middle of a retail mall... and I don't know about where you live, but I don't usually go dancing at my local mall.

Anyhoo, Club Incircle’s really close to something good I think, so hopefully they think about their guests as much as their vendors, and create a unique dancing experience!

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Seawind%20Oasis/180/141/24

Club VLD ★★★

Club VLD (Vampires Legion of Doom) is located 300m in the sky above Fantasy City.

After visiting a few mega-clubs, it was a nice change to visit a less laggy place. I landed right next to the dance floor and got hit by a wall of sound as the stream pumped out some awesome heavy rock.

The event theme up on the contest board was best in metal bondage, and the crowd of a dozen or so were pumping up the money ‘sploder with cash. A host greeted me when I arrived and a couple hot dancers (guy and girl!) were up on the poles at the front of the stage.

The glowing pentagram dance floor and skull hanging in the air are a good indication of the style of this club. Grunge and industrial, the walls are lined with studded rusting metal plates.

The club’s surrounded by stores and vendors all around on the walls, which perhaps doesn’t create the most intimate club atmosphere, but I have to say I liked how the big open room let me pan around the shops while I was at the club. It made for a much more open feel to the place, and having space to shop is always a good thing in SL.

Some of the pose balls and chairs strewn around looked interesting, especially the bloody crucifix with spikes and the floating text “Living Art” tempting you to try it… *cough* Worth exploring!

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Fantasy%20City/69/21/301

Dance Island ★★★

Arriving at Dance Island, we landed in the middle of a mall build and were quickly chat and pop-up spammed with a bunch of stuff. Multiple notices, a group invite (6L!), web URLs, I counted at least 20 lines of chat spam – these guys are definitely taking their promotions seriously, lol!

The stores were fun, and I picked up a freebie at Sintimacy, which had a bunch of revealing club wear outfits.

Soon we were on our way pushing against the lag, (a packed sim, Dance Island had 71 people on it!), following the arrows on the ground over toward the dancing area. Dance Island has that sort of giant techno/rave feel too it, your typical large-scale SL mega club. We picked and walked toward one of what looked like a few different 24/7 parties going on inside different buildings.

The Vegas-style pyramid build is cool, filled with a dance floor and all the balls and blingy things you’d expect in your classic SL-style club. A basic build, perhaps not a bad call for such a busy place.

There were about a couple dozen people dancing away, but not much public chatter. The stream was pumping out the techno beats as the blue waves in the dance floor shifted below us. We weren’t greeted by a host and there didn’t seem to be any kind of hosted event going on at the time.

If you want a place to find people, Dance Island is definitely a good start. It fills the basic clubber needs, and if you just wanna hang listening to music around people, this is a place for you.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dance%20Island/128/128/2

Club XTC Elite ★★

Open since 2005, Club XTC Elite is one of the older clubs out there. Owned by Looli Hoffman, Stacey Sugar and Nadia Tempura, you can find it in the Refugio sim.

The landing notecard promises “Real girls, who really know how to strip” who are “mentored to the highest standards” which sounds promising and makes me think about classrooms involving whips and chains for some reason…

Ahem, so anyway, I landed in a shopping area and wandered over to the club. Low lag, there was a good crowd there, almost 30 peeps. The chat spammer told me they have daily events and are on the lookout for DJs.

The brick walls were great, nice and tight build, a smaller club with a pinked out stage with hanging cages off to the side. Those great standard issue sine wave poles were up on the stage where I watched a few sexy girls use them quite skillfully with some good emoting.

Lots of quality escorting available here, with tons of dancer bios posted along the walls. They were actually kinda fun to read, and really detailed too, I was impressed.

Unfortunately, there was a whole room full of campers, these weird people just hanging out in a room staring at a wall, which explains the high traffic rating. I asked one of the owners present and they confirmed it. So, I gotta knock off a star for the cheat, but otherwise, not bad at all.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Refugio/143/38/73

Heaven 'n Hell ★★★

Okay, this club was pretty hot, I gotta say. If you’re looking for a good strip club, check this place out.

A solid build in a single-room large stone castle, the large curving stage that dominates the centre has recliners set up around it for guests to chillax in. The floor looks like its moving lava, with cool fire coming up out of it.

The girls were hot and the guys sitting in the audience were pretty good looking, too. There was great emoting going on, lots of public chatter, and the smaller crowd of guys was definitely having a good time. These girls know how to take care of their guests, and the tip jars showed it.

The soft and a little cheesy rock on the stream helped set the type of mood you’d expect in a strip club. There wasn’t a contest going on while I was there, but the fancy board on the wall suggests they definitely have ‘em.

Looking to kick back and let a pretty girl dance for you? Head on over.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/ArchAngel/130/130/24

Bad Girls ★★★

Okay, no club review site is gonna be complete without a review of Bad Girls. I don't think a day goes by without me seeing some newbie walking around with their BAD GIRLS VIP tag above their heads! These guys obviously do their marketing, and get 'em hooked while they're young. ;)

Home of sexy talk radio, this self-described dance and fetish club is known all over SL and has one of the biggest traffic stats out there.

It's mega huge, mega crowd, and mega shopping. It's about as entertainment complex as a club in SL gets.

The intro card you get dropped on you when you arrive announces "Live DJs throwing down the hottest tracks and themed contest events 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year!" and, my favourite part, "Hot and Sensuous Escorts, ready to give a tour of Fully Equipped "Virtual Reality" VIP Rooms." *cough*

When I arrived, the party was in full swing! 40 people were heating up the psychadellic dance floor and a $2000L contest was underway. The live DJ from Sexy talk radio was telling rude jokes that made me laugh.

The dance floor was moving, pose balls were spread about, and spotlights were circling the floor. The build is huge and simple, with lots of bling and vendor areas around the walls. It reminds me of the big downtown warehouse clubs I used to go to when I was 16. Pretty hip. Maybe drink a little in RL before heading over to really bring the adventure home.

But all this mega means there's mega lag. I think this is probably one of the hardest parts of being a successful club in SL. Once you get busy, nobody can get busy anymore... so to speak. Ahem.

Worth checking out for that mega bling club time - just make sure you've got a fast computer.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Badlands/181/120/26

PTA Cabaret ★★★

Described as an upscale club, PTA Cabaret is in the sim Anna. Owned by Thiala Fuchs, I came to check it out after I got a hot tip it had just opened.

The build's great, very lush and small, inside a real castle here which I like a lot. There are dance poles and sine wave dances in a ball for guests. The lush dark reds really adds a sense of atmosphere and closeness.
The male and female dancer were really hot, with great emoting, and looked like the guy might be escorting, too.

There wasn't a huge crowd but the live DJ Cabana was mixing up some great tunes and there was a hyoooge $1000 best in silks contest on the board!

I'd keep my eye on this one, I hope they do well and attract more crowds. Gotta love that name. I was invited by the club's owner Neesha Jewell, and her sexy boyfriend Antonyno Oh owns the dark post apocalyptic roleplaying sim below.

There's a huge crowd, lots of sexy people, definitely an older, more experienced bunch of Second Lifers here. Tons of public chatter, I can barely keep up, which is a must for a good club. Don't you hate those clubs where everyone's in IMs?

The build is simple but spacious. There aren't many textures, which gives it a minimalist spaceship kinda feel. It's just recently built, so maybe they're still working on it.

There are strippers on the poles, and a contest board for events. There's a live DJ playing rock 'n pop favourites.
So, if you're a fan of that big club look, Swallows is a good choice. I hope they do well with events after the opening. Hot girls, twirling spotlights, great music and glimmering dance balls.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Carpathia%20City/145/54/293

How we'll rate clubs

We need a rating system if we're going to do this right. So here it is, nice 'n easy:

★ Awful. Don't go. We're sorry we did.
★★ Pretty bad, but shows some hope. Might be newbie or campery.
★★★ Good times! Okay crowd, solid club build, worth checking out.
★★★★ Great time. Amazing build. Something different. Go see it.
★★★★★ Good as gold. Doesn't get any more awesome than this, we loved it.

The score is overall, so we look at what we saw when we arrived: Was it full of campers or real people? Did our eyes bleed from bling, or was it a smooth, stylish build? Was the crowd rockin' up a storm or the place as empty as a politician's promise? And did we turn up the stereo to hear some awesome tunes, or turn off the stream as soon as we arrived?

Welcome!

Here we go, finally, SecondClubs.com is a blog that reviews all the clubs in Second Life.
