I can honestly say that whenever I see a Kendrick brothers movie on the horizon I get pretty excited to see what God will be doing next. Overcomer that comes out this August, will be the 6th movie for the Kendrick brothers. Movies like War Room, Courageous and Fireproof just to name a few. The next chapter in their film legacy, Overcomer will surely be a life-changing film as well. “OVERCOMER in many regards, is a discovery of who we are in Christ, who gets to determine our identity and what we have to overcome to embrace the life God has for us,” said Alex Kendrick. In a day and age where everyone seems to be struggling with their identity, Overcomer deals with this struggle head-on. The movie involves a young girl who is not your typical cross-country runner. Not only is she dealing with her own identity in Christ crisis but a health issue as well. As a former cross country runner, I can personally attest to the grueling sport. Having not only personal but physical battles this young girl has, she can only be but an overcomer herself. Movie Synopsis: Life changes overnight for coach John Harrison when his high school basketball team’s state championship dreams are crushed under the weight of unexpected news. When the largest manufacturing plant in town suddenly shuts down and hundreds of families begin moving away, John must come to grips with the challenges facing his family and his team. Urged by the school’s principal to fill-in and

Surely goodness, love and mercy will follow wherever I go. Chris Tomlin released his latest album Holy Roar last week and put it simply I love it. Goodness, love, and mercy are a reoccurring theme throughout the tracks. Three things we all could use more of in this world. Holy Roar already has a couple tracks on the radio and there are a few more I think could definitely be the next hit either on the radio or to hear live at his upcoming tour. Holy Roar’s album theme is the freedom, the experience, the wonder of worship. It is seeing the church come together, hands lifted to God, pouring out our praise with an eternal song in our hearts. It’s every voice together, changing the way we worship. Personally I cannot wait to experience this type of worship first hand at Chris Tomlin’s upcoming tour which currently there are no tour dates in my city but hopefully, one will get added as there are stops nearby. Until then I look forward to being able to worship wherever I am listening to any or every track of Holy Roar. I had the opportunity to see Chris a few years back live in concert and have been a fan for many many years. His latest album is no exception. From the title track Holy Roar, he sets our hearts and ears ready for worship and praise. Nobody Loves Me Like Jesus is a track that becomes our worship cry, especially in a time like this where

Everyone knows the movie Unbroken about Louis Zamperini’s that came out in based on the book by Laura Hillenbrand. If you only saw the movie, you may not know is there is more to his story, Unbroken: Path to Redemption is a look at what happened next. On September 14th, UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION by Pure Flix films hits the big screen. I was blessed with the opportunity to not only watch the movie early but also give away Fandango movie passes for some of my readers to get to see it for free between now and Oct 14th or until UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION is no longer in theaters whichever happens first. Honestly, I was not sure what to expect from a follow up film to one that was so epic in the lives it impacted as Unbroken. I will say (without giving too much away), that this film can stand on it’s own merits. Even for those that somehow missed the first film, they will be able to dive right into where the film picks up. By the end of the film will likely want to see the first one if they had not yet. Those that saw the first installment of Unbroken, know that this is a different chapter in Louis’ life that might catch some by surprise. The battles and demons that he fought as a POW carried over to when he is home. During his time of fame and what should have been the best years of his life, he

Kutless has released a new album by the name of Alpha/Omega. You likely have heard some of the tracks as they have put together a collection of original and cover tracks that they feel are core to the type of worship and rock band they have been for over fifteen years. I had the opportunity to preview the album before its release by Tooth and Nail Records. As a fan of Kutless for many years, I can say this album does not disappoint. From remakes of familiar songs like Strong Tower and great covers of songs like Your Great Name to original tracks never heard before such as Shepherd of My Soul and Gave It All. You likely have heard their newly released track King of My Heart, that you cannot help singing along with as it plays on stations like AirOne and KLove. Alpha/Omega covers many years and talents of what has made Kutless a household name for many years when it comes to worship bands. Is it an album that has more than one hit on it, I think quite possibly. If nothing less it is a great album to turn to if you want to listen to familiar songs sung by the ever so talented Jon Micah Sumrall brings everytime he steps up to the microphone. “We really believe that music can make a difference in people’s lives,” shares Jon Micah Sumrall. “Music is an incredibly powerful tool that can break down walls and allow us to communicate a message of hope to people

Have you ever lost a pet? Or better yet have you outlived your pet? If so then you know the empty hole that they can leave. As a pet owner since early childhood, I have endured living beyond their time all too many times. It never gets easier, and you don’t miss them any less. I woke this morning to a quiet house. Well, as quiet as a house with three large, needy rescue pups can be. It was quiet as I did not have the motion detected Hue light come on before I entered our front room. Quiet, without a hungry, sleepy “meow” to greet me under my bare feet. No pitter-patter paw prints across the floor leading me to the kitchen to his bowl. Last evening I placed my furkid kitty of thirteen years in the ground. He had lost his battle with age, kidney failure, and more. I left yesterday morning to go to work knowing he was not doing very well. Before I returned home he crawled into the bed that up until recently he rarely used and went to sleep. Looking as if he had gone peacefully to join all my pets before him. (Yes I firmly believe that animals also go over the rainbow bridge and await us playfully in heaven.) A good fight had been fought. He allowed myself and my wife our own personal moments over the last few days to love on him. We knew his precious time with us was near, we prayed over him,

Admittedly, I read a lot of books. I read usually about one book a week give or take. However, rarely am I compelled to write about what I read. Especially on my own volition, without sponsors or a promotion of some sort. That is until today… Defending the Feminine Heart, A Masculine Wall for GOD’s Daughters by Jeff Voth is available on Amazon. I had the opportunity to purchase a copy at Cavetime last weekend. That being said, I wanted to share some thoughts and offer up a challenge. Men today have come under attack. Our masculinity is at stake and truth be told…it’s our fault. We have allowed modern culture to dictate how we are to behave. Our sinful nature going unchecked has permitted lust, pornography, and sex trafficking to become rampant. Meanwhile, we complacently sit on our backsides. Allowing it to happen or worse endorsing it with our own bad behavior. Jeff pulls no punches in his new book. He rightfully calls us knuckleheads out. But not only does he shine the light on the darkness, but he shows us the way. Providing a step by step process in becoming a wall for God’s daughters. Calling out the enemy and learning how to protect all women, as God intended. We are all knuckleheads and have been since Adam. Jeff shows us that through pursuing the second Adam, Jesus we don’t have to be. It is the time that we stand up against the enemy. Time to reclaim, rebuild the wall that God intended to
