Around 2006 people started saying that SEO was changing and that content was now king if you wanted your website to rank well in the engines.

I found that strange because from my experience quality backlinks were king if you want to rank well.

Well guess what?

We’ve come full circle and now people are saying that backlinks are the way to go.

But you know what?

It never changed…

Backlinks have always been king.

I’m not saying that you don’t need quality content on your website to do well but if you put more weight on content than you do backlinking then you’re not giong to win the search engine game.

You’ve noticed all the products at the warrior forum on backlinking haven’t you?

Angela’s backlinks, Paul’s backlinks, wso’s to automate their backlinks – hell there’s probably a product coming out so your dog can use Angela’s backlinks for your site.

Quality content did become more important a few years ago meaning that you couldn’t scrape the engines anymore for your content and still expect to do well.

But that didn’t mean it was ever king.

Backlinks have always been king and probably will be for a while.

Of course those backlinks can’t be from link farms and a lot of 2 way linking, or purchased – they’ve got to be good.

So if you’re thinking, “what ever happened to content being king with all these new backlinking trends”?  It never was.

If you can find a good market with a good downloadable product it works like gangbusters.

If you put your promotion together correct you stand to make yourself and the product seller some major cash.

But you’ve got to find a good quality product – you don’t even necessarily have to have a product with a good sales letter but the product itself needs to be good.

That’s what I went looking for today at Clickbank but unfortunately couldn’t find one.

Oh, there were plenty of smoking cessation products on CB but all the sales letters sucked and from what I could tell none of the actual products were very impressive.

I’ve been there myself and it can be pretty agrivating.

But I discovered something that has gotten my articles approved quickly and it has worked several times now.

Most of the time they’ve been approved in less than 24 hours an NO I don’t have a premium membership.

So what’s the secret?

It’s very easy, I submit at least 5 articles at a time.

Yep that’s it.

I simply upload an article and save it instead of submitting it.

Every time I’ve done it (for all my pen names) it’s worked perfectly.

But nearly every time when I submit just one at a time it takes quite a bit longer.

The better part is that you can implement this very simple trick in about 10 minutes.

Okay so here is the secret.

I have an audio in my guarantee box.

When someone gets down to read my guarantee they can click a little button that starts playing an audio of me talking.

In the audio a basically give about a 30 second little talk on my guarantee.

Why does this work so well?  Because it get’s personal and on their level.

They need to know that there’s a real person behind this product that cares about their wants and needs and isn’t going to rip them off.

This will work especially well if you’re selling a product in a niche that is not related to internet marketing.

Most people who purchase itnernet marketing products are not worried about getting ripped off and they know they can get a refund it they are not satisfied with the product.

But many people who are not as familiar with buying online don’t understand that.

When you put a quick little audio in there it helps to reassure them that they have nothing to worry about and if they are not happy they can get a quick refund.

There are several free options out there to add audio to your website.

One free option is a piece of software called “Web Audio Plus”.

If you do a bit of searching you can find it for free.

Okay, so I basically just gave you some free money by telling you how to increase your conversions.

It’s best to use this if you have a list but you could also use it on YouTube.

First you need to be willing to offer a discount on your product, I’d say at least 25% if it’s a digital product and at least 10% if it’s a physical product.

So what you do is make a hidden link on your sales page that will take the visitor to a checkout where they can get your product for a discount.

when I say “hidden” I mean that it would be nearly impossible for anyone to find it unless you told them exactly where it was.

What I typically do is link an odd word and then remove the hyperlink features from the link (the blue text and underline features) so it will just look like a normal word.

This link goes on my regular sales page and I usually only keep it there for a limited number of days.

Once I’ve placed my special link on the page I make a video showing exactly where the link is to get the special discount.

I then setup a series of emails that I send out to my list explaining that I want to give them a special link to get my product at a discount but the link is hidden on the page.

Now this is important, I don’t give the video in the first email.

Why?

Because I want to build their curiosity.  Not giving them the video in the first email will want them to see it even more.

I might not even give it in the second email but I definitely give them the video in the 3rd email.

I also tell them that the hidden link is only going to be on the page for a limited time (usually 2 or 3 days) so they better hurry and take advantage if they want the discount.

That’s all there is to it, it’s very simple.  I like Camtasia screen capture software to use for these videos but it costs $300, so if you don’t have it you could use CamStuido or you could use Camtasia’s free online program at http://www.jingproject.com/

Now what if you don’t have a list?

You can still use this method by making a video and posting it on popular video Sites like YouTube and such.

Don’t baulk at having to give a discount on your product, it has always resulted in a big spike in sales for me but I can’t guarantee that it will for you.

There are many options to choose for how you want to setup your permalinks?

I’m not going to go into all the options that you can choose as you can see for yourself when you are in the custom area.

What I am going to tell you is what has worked the best for me any many other marketers that have a clue about SEO.

The very best is “/%postname%.html”.

Post it in the last box of the options you have and you will end up with links like the following:

yoursite.com/your-post-title.html

That’s the best way to rank for the keywords in your title if you do want to rank.

It takes about 3 seconds to make the change and your done.
