If you are a social media addict like me, with profiles on different social media sites, you can now update all your social media sites at once. I mean, with a single update, you can update all your social networks at once, without having to update all the social media sites individually. Hence, you can focus on other things instead of jumping from one site to another, just to get them updated.

So, how is this possible?

Well, it is possible with the help of Ping.fm

What is Ping.fm ?

Ping.fm is a website where you can automatically update a large number of social networks and bookmarking sites all at once. Social nnetworks supported include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Friendfeed etc. You can find the list of supported social networks or services here: http://ping.fm/networks/.

How To Get Started

Go to www.ping.fm and sign up for Free

After registration, what next?

You need to start adding social networks that you want to hook into your Ping.FM account. The good news is, you only need to do this once. Adding each network is mostly adding your username and password for each of your social media network and granting Ping.fm permission to your network where neccessary.

Setup is easy. Right from your Ping.fm dashboard, just click the "Add Network" and follow the directions on the service page. After adding your networks, any update you post via ping.fm will get posted to the networks you have added to your ping.fm account.

That's all.

One cool thing I like about ping.fm is the "Posting Groups". Posting groups allow you to post to the social networks of your choice. For example; Say you have Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn set up and you want to post to Twitter and Facebook, but not LinkedIn. This can be easily done. Note: You can post to your ping.fm via ping.fm website, email, mobile app, sms etc.

How To Change Template of Blogger/Blogspot Blog via the New Blogger Dashboard

The template is your blog's clothes and if you are not satisfied with it, you can easily change it. If you change your template, your posts will not be affected, only the look will be changed. You can easily change the look of your blog by editing your template if you are good with html/css; if not, you can just download a good looking template and upload it to your blog as your new template. Changing the look of your blog does not guarantee automatic success, but it does give you some advantage to build upon.

Today, I will explain to you how to change the appearance of your Blogger blog via the new Blogger dashboard by uploading an external template (not provided by Blogger). Hence, I assume you have downloaded a Blogger Template from somewhere.

Must Do Before Changing Template

1. You must back up your template so that if something goes wrong or if you are not satisfied with the new template, you can just easily change back to your current template.

To back up your template, login to your blog and from your dashboard, go to > Template.

Look by the top right hand corner and you will see the "BackUp/Restore" button. Click it.

You will see a new window, click on the "Download Full Template" button. Save it to your disk and make sure you know where you saved it.

2. You must back up your widgets. When you change template, you might lost your widgets .Widgets are your added page elements like html scripts, floating share bar, Feedburner Email Subscription box, Facebook Like Box, Search box etc.

To back up the widgets, you need to save the code of each widget (especially the ones added using html/javascript gadget) properly in a notepad as a text file. To copy code of each widget, you need to log in to your blog and go to Layout. Then click on the"edit" under the each widget you want to back up. Then, copy and save each code in Notepad.

An extra tip is to take a screenshot of your widget configuration in the Layout section of your Dashboard – this will help you to remember the widgets you use before you change the template.

If you have backed up your template and your widgets, you can then go ahead to upload your new template.

NOTE: The name of the template you want to upload must end with .xml i.e it must be an xml file. If you download a zip file of a template, you will have to unzip it, to get the xml file which you will have to upload to your blog.

How Do I Install New Blogger Template?

In the new Blogger design: from your dashboard, go to Template

Look by the top right hand corner and you will see the "BackUp/Restore" button. Click it.

You will see a new window similar to the one below:

Click on the "Choose File" button

Select the xml file of the template you want to install/upload

Click the "upload" button

You might see a warning asking you if you want to keep your widgets. Choose "Keep Widgets".

Save and View your blog.

That's all. Now you have the same blog, with no change in content but a complete new look.

If you check your blog and realize that some of your widgets are missing, you can add them back to your blog by going to Layout > Add a Gadget but remember, do not add too much of them. A cluttered and slow blog is a sure way to scare off visitors.

If you really want a unique look on your blog, then customizing the template is the option for you – small changes can make a surprisingly big difference and you can easily customize your template via the Template Designer provided the Template you downloaded is compatible with Template Designer.

Hence, when next you are trying to download a template, make sure the template is compatible with Template designer. You can easily confirm this on a "Test Blog". If you don't have a "Test Blog", create it and be using it to try customizations before applying them to your main blog.

How I Buy at Amazon Store and Ship to Nigeria

I have had a lot of people ask me to explain how I manage to buy stuff from Amazon shops from Nigeria. The difficulty in buying from Amazon in Nigeria stems from the fact that Amazon will not ship to Nigeria. Secondly, since Amazon does not require your PIN, most Nigerian Banks issuing Visa cards will not release payment until and unless PIN is provided. I take two easy steps to overcome these difficulties.

First, I get a USA address for free and use it as my shipping address on my Amazon profile- more on that in later. Second;y, I use Zenith Visa card to make my payments.

My experience is that most Nigerian banks will not release payment until and unless the card holder inputs his/her pin. It is for the above reason I recommend Visa card from Zenith Bank Plc. You can inquire from your bank if they can allow your card make online payments without the PIN.

I like shopping on Amazon because it is by far cheaper, convenient, and I can get whatever I want from the comfort of my home and get it delivered to me within 2-3 weeks. Getting a free USA address for shipping your Amazon items to Nigeria is as easy as using the Post Office Box of a friend to receive your mails.

The need for the USA address, as I earlier remarked, stems from the fact that Amazon will not ship purchased items to Nigeria.

Let me draw an analogy of how the USA address system will work for the Amazon shopping and then continue to spell out how you can acquire your own address without fuss.

Just imagine Jide Ogunsanya as a shipping company with a P.O box in Benue State and has allowed me, Ebipade Enienghan, who live in Port Harcourt to use this address to accept my mails. I have registered with his shipping company so they have my Port Harcourt address details in their data base which becomes a forwarding address.

So whenever I make payments for goods in Benue, I use his shipping company’s address (P.O box) so the sellers send to the shipping compnay who receives and looks at their data base and forward same to me in Port Harcourt.

Now the use of the shipper’s address is free but shipping is not. The shipping will have their price and for international shipping it is charged mainly per pound weight or per kilogram weight. I currently pay 4 dollars per pound weight to ship from US to Lagos.

So How Do I Get Free US Address?

There are several shipping companies operating cargo services in Nigeria. My first advice is to approach the one you are familiar with or already have dealings with.

For me, I use Hont Global Services. I have not tried any other. I really don’t think I need to look for another because I have found my shipping company very reliable. You can use their contact details here and write to them. When they accept to have you onboard, they will send you a registration form to complete. Basically it is about your identity and forwarding address that are needed.

Once you have returned the completed form you will be created in their data base and you are ready to shop from Amazon or any other online shop for that matter with your Visa card. Remember, you will have to pay for shipping and international shipping is charged mainly per pound weight or per kilogram weight.

With this post of mine, I believe you will now find it easy to buy books online from Amazon store and even buy your Amazon Kindle and get it delivered to your doorstep in Nigeria. So go get your USA address and Visa card ready because next in this series I will show you how to use this address in your Amazon profile as well as the procedure I used to buy my Discovery Expedition Entertainment Projector.

Blackberry Porsche : Review, Pictures and Price In Nigeria

The new Blackberry Porsche Design P'9981 as at the time of publishing this post, is the latest Blackberry phone by RIM, released December, 2011. The phone is a TFT capacitive touchscreen, though still with no Radio, but has 8 GB of Internal storage. According to the manufacturer, additional 16GB micro SD included in box.

The P’9981 smartphone is equipped with a 2.8″ touch screen, and a wide BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard for easier messaging and enhanced technology. You can get fast, fluid animation and instant responses from the Liquid Graphics™ 2.8” high resolution display touch screen and 1.2 GHz processor.

The back battery cover is made of real leather. There’s also a rectangular metal slab with holes for the 5-megapixel camera and LED flash with the P’9981 name engraved as well. The phone also has a metal and glass front. To complete the customization, all of these devices will have special Porsche PINs that start with the letter P, topped off with a bespoke build of BlackBerry OS 7.

How To Adjust Widths of Entire Blog and Sidebars

You can easily adjust widths of your entire blog and that of the sidebars of your Blogger/Blogspot blog without using any code. You can easily increase or decrease the widths by using the Blogger Template Designer.

How To Get Started

== > If you are still using the old Blogger dashboard, you can log in to your blogger dashboard and switch to the new blogger dashboard so you can easily follow this tutorial.

Log in to your Blogger dashboard

Click on "Template" (on the right hand side menu). You will see something similar to the picture below:

Click on the "Customize" button. This will open up the "Template Designer"

On the left menu, you will see "Adjust widths", Click on it.

You will now see where to adjust the width as seen in the picture below:

Drag to your desired widths. (You will be seeing the preview as you are doing it).

Once satisfied, click the "APPLY TO BLOG" button at the top right corner of the Template Designer.

That's all.

You can always follow the steps anytime to adjust the widths.

NOTE: If you downloaded a third party template that is not compatible with template designer, you might see an error message: "Not applicable to this template". For this kind of template, you will need to adjust the css of the template via "Edit html". This is just one of the reasons why I prefer "Template Designer Compatible templates".

If your template is compatible but can't view or see the preview in the Template Designer, you might have to install adobe flash to your browser.

Watch MNET channel 102 on DSTV without Paying Premium (full) bouquet

If you are subscribing to DSTV premium (full) bouquet for N9,500, you will surely have access to DSTV’s MNET channel 102. I guess there is no one who doesn't know that you can’t have access to or view MNET channel 102 on DSTV if you are subscribing to the other bouquet options namely, DSTV Compact Plus, DSTV compact, DSTV family and DSTV Access.

DSTV premium shows the full range of available channels except those categorized as special. Special Bouquet channels include French, Portuguese, and Indian options. To view this special bouquet while subscribing to DSTV premium, you still have to pay an extra N2,000 for each i.e French bouquet, Portuguese bouquet or Asian bouquet.

You are also allowed to combine these special bouquet channels with other DSTV bouquet too, but the price per special bouquet becomes N3,700 instead of N2,000.

What this means is that Compact plus + Asian will cost me (N7000+N3700=10,700), Compact +Asian (N4800+3700=8500), Family +Asian (N2800+3700=6500), Access + Asian (1800+3700=5,500).

The good news is that when you pay for the last bouquet (Access+Asian), in addition to the normal Access only and Asian only channels, you also get DSTV’s MNET channel 102.

The only problem with the Access bouquet is that the channels are limited. It is a downgrade of DSTV family. There is no viewing of African magic, no BBC, no CNN. If you can make do with Ajazeera, why not sacrifice CNN and have MNET in place of African Magic?

Moreover, if you are married or do have a lady friend, sibling, she will love you for the Asian Channels you will be introducing her to. No dulling moment with those options. You will have Zee TV on channel 452, SET A on channel 450, B4U on Channel451, Smax on channel 457, B4Um (musical) on channel 458.

If you think these channels are not worth the trade off try watching Indian films like Fashion, 3 Idiots or My Name is Khan and you will see what you have been missing.

As a guy, you still have your Super Sport Select to watch your selected sporting events on channel 220 and channel 200 and Eurosports Channel 240 which be giving you all your sports news.

So if you want to have access to DSTV MNET channel 102 without paying full subscription try DSTV Access+ Asia when next you are paying your subscription and it could be a romantic prelude to the Valentine celebration with your loved one(s) this season.

What with the fact that American Idols has just started and you can only watch it on, you guessed right, DSTV’s MNET channel 102 on Saturdays and Sundays.

Additionally, with DSTV MNET channel 102 you will not miss all the latest blockbuster movies showing on MNET every Sunday by 9pm. Films like “The Town” featuring Ben Affleck and other blockbusters are already lined up this month of February.

Your Blogspot address ends with .in (or any country-specific URL) instead of .com? The Solution.

Blogger has rolled out a new change, in which you will notice that the URL of a blog you're reading has been redirected to a country-code top level domain, or "ccTLD." For example, if you are in India and viewing [blogname].blogspot.com, you might be redirected to [blogname].blogspot.com.in. A ccTLD, when it appears, corresponds with the country of the reader’s current location.

Why is this happening?

The Blogger team said migrating to localized domains will allow them to continue promoting free expression and responsible publishing while providing greater flexibility in complying with valid removal requests pursuant to local law. By utilizing ccTLDs, content removals can be managed on a per country basis, which will limit their impact to the smallest number of readers. Content removed due to a specific country’s law will only be removed from the relevant ccTLD.

Who is affected by this Change?

Every Blogger user that is not using a custom domain. i.e any Blogger user that is still using the .blogspot address. Right now it seems the change has been rolled out only in India. So when an Indian user visits your blog, he will be redirected to yourblog.blogspot.com.in instead of yourblog.blogspot.com.

Will this affect search engine optimization on my blog?

Hosting duplicate content on different domains can affect search results, but the Blogger Team said they are making every effort to minimize any negative consequences of hosting Blogspot content on multiple domains.

Want to view the "No Country Redirect (NCR)" of a Blogspot Blog?

If you want to temporarily prevent Blogger from doing a country specific redirect while viewing a blogspot blog, then you can use the NCR option.

Example

Let me assume you are in India and want to view http://[blogname].blogspot.com instead of viewing http://[blogname].blogspot.com.in, all you have to do is to add the NCR option as seen below:

http://[blogname].blogspot.com/ncr

This will give you the .com version without redirecting to your ccTLD

What Should I do Now ?

Get a custom domain for your blog to save yourself all those stress.

How Do I Get a Custom Domain?

If you are using the new blogger dashboard, Login to your blog, go to Settings > Basic > Publishing > Add a custom domain. It will cost you $10.

Parse Adsense Code for Blogger Template using BlogCrowds HTML Parser

You can easily use the Adsense gadget to add Google adsense ads to the sidebar and other parts of your blogger blog, but adding adsense ads inside your blog posts (without using a widget) doesn't come easy. If you paste Google AdSense, Chitika, AdBrite or any other javascript ad code into your xml Blogger template, you will see an error message after clicking the "SAVE Template" button.

Even if the template somehow, managed to save without showing you an error message, the ads will not show. I have received series of complaints from some Bloggers, saying their ads fail to show on their blog, despite following the right instruction of adding Adsense in Blogger template. Well, if that ever happens to you, then you should know that you have made one mistake ---- You did not parse you code.

So, What is the way out?

You must first Parse the adsense ad script or any code you want to insert into your template before pasting it in Blogger template. BlogCrowds HTML Parser is a very good tool I use. At the website, you can automatically parse or encode your adsense code, or that of Adbrite, Chitika and any other javascript code.

When you copy the adsense code from you account, you will have to paste it in the form on the site to parse it or encode it. After pasting your code ,you will have to click the Parse button. The page will reload and you will see the parsed code. If you insert this parsed code into your Blogger template, you will not see any error and when you view your blog, your ads will be displayed.

If you're trying to decide which blogging platform to use, I'm not going to tell you which one I think is best, because that won't be any use to you. Instead, am sharing with you reasons why you can choose Blogger/Blogspot as your blogging platform.

Blogger.com or Blogspot.com allows you to own a blog for free. It belongs to the search Giant, Google. Though, there are other free platforms out there including typepad.com and wordpress.com (NOT wordpress.org), it is the most popular free platform and is very easy to use. For starters, blogger is very easy. If you can send an email, you can do a blog post.

Below are reasons why you can consider Blogger as your blogging platform:

1. Free and Affordable

Blogger is available free for all Google users. Blogger hosts your blog for free, without having to worry about bandwidth and disk space limitations. If you have a free gmail.com account, you can create a blog free of charge. You will only need time for updating your content.

Because my blog is hosted by Blogger, the only time I'll ever have to spend money on it was when I decided to change the address from www.ogbongeblog.blogspot.com to www.ogbongeblog.com. You can get this done with at least $10 and if you are a Nigerian, you can get it for N1,500 , though some guys might charge you more than this if they are to change it for you.

If you do not have money to change the address, you can still be using your .blogspot address, though it makes a lot of sense to change it and the earlier, the better.

In a nutshell, Blogger allows you to make a whole lot of money online without paying for hosting every year.

2. The right tools

Blogger offers you the right tools:

==> to write web content. If you can send an email, you can write blog posts.

==> to add photos and videos. You can easily insert pictures into your posts and very easy uploading videos or inserting Youtube videos into your posts.

==> to edit your template. You can change your template/theme with a click.

==> to share and bookmark your content. Blogger has buttons below each post which allows you to easily share your posts to Facebook, Twitter and Google plus. You can easily add floating share bar that will also allow you to stumble, digg and save your posts to other social bookmarking sites.

==> to engage your readers. "Google Friend Connect" allows you to create free newsletters. It also makes it easier for you to get followers for your blog and to follow other blogs. You can also use it to create polls which makes it easier for you to know what your readers want.

3. Reliable

It is the most reliable blog services online. Pingdom.com reported 0% downtime in 2010. Even if there is downtime, it will be rectified asap because Google services also use Blogger and not wordpress. Mind you, if you are using a non- free blogging platform, eg wordpress.org, you must be very careful when choosing your web host or else, you might have yourself to blame should in case the hosting company get hacked or runs out of business.

As a Blogger user, you don’t need to set up a paid hosting account, worry about security patches or upgrades, or be concerned about system uptime and availability.

The fact that Google can take on hackers all around the world speaks volumes about how tough their defenses are. Leave system maintenance to the experts in Google and concentrate on just updating your blog. If any hacker threatens you, tell him to go and hack Google..lol .If you do not mess up with your google password, no cause for alarm.

I can also say that for as long as I've used Blogger consistently (It has been over 2 years), I can only remember one time when Blogger was having trouble and it was fixed with alacrity.

Some will tell you that Blogger will shut your blog down. Yes, it is true if you engage in things Blogger doesn't allow but I am sure you are matured enough to abide by the rules. If you can, then, there is no cause for alarm. Just make sure you are backing up your posts though...

4. It's Google

Because Blogger is a Google thing, they are always adding and updating features to make it better. They make changes based on feedback they get from their users. You can also easily integrate with well other Google services, such as Google Adsense, Google Docs, Picasa ,Google Friend Connect, Feedburner, Google Analytics, and probably many others that I've forgotten to mention. All of this is available free of charge.

Recently, googlePlus1 counter was introduced into the new Blogger dashboard. If you are using a non-Google blogging platform, i doubt if you see such in your dashboard without having to install something.

You can always keep a close eye on "Blogger Buzz" so you won't miss out on anything new.

5. It's simple, but versatile

Blogger is made for both beginning and advanced users. It has a , WYSIWYG ( What You See Is What You Get) editor which allows you to write blog posts with ease. There is also the Template Designer which makes it easy for me to change my template and customize it with only a few clicks, and I can view my changes instantly with the real-time preview. But I don't use the Template Designer much more than to make small changes to the text and colors, because I prefer to play with the code and create a custom template using the Edit HTML feature.

If you are not intersted in coding or don't know html, there are loads of free awesome templates you can instal to your blogger blog so as to make your blog look beautiful. If you don't like the default templates, there are lots of sites where you can download free templates. There are many premium WordPress themes available for FREE to use for your Blogger blog.

6. Easy platform for web developers

If you are a web developer, Blogger provides you with a different value proposition. If you pitch a Blogger-based solution to a client, you can provide services at a lower price point while still maintaining full creative freedom. Finally, you can easily transfer ownership and management of the blog to your client, or, continue to keep both of you as co-administrators.

Conclusion

Blogger if used properly can generate a good income for its owner. The basic rule would be to use your own domain and a great template.

Majority of probloggers started their blogging career with Blogspot/Blogger and many proBloggers are still using it too. One thing is certain, there is no blogging platform that will magically make your blog to be successful. Just use whatever platform that makes the most sense to you.

Of course, Blogger has its problems, but it's always improving. It works great for what I need to do, and I think it's great for almost any sort of blogger.

If you are a blogger who wants nothing more than to develop a readership where the blog posts are the entire focus, go for Blogger or else go for wordpress.org hosted blog.

How To Group Blog Posts into Labels (Categories)

Labels allow you to group your blog posts into categories. Labels are handy if you blog about a lot of different subjects, since readers can then choose to view all of your posts on, say, "Blogging Tips" at once. Or Adsense Tips, or Money-Making Tips, or whatever you happen to be writing about. Today, I am sharing with you how to categorize your blog posts i.e how to add/apply labels to your blog posts.

How To Get Started

Login to your blog dashboard and click on the gray Post List icon (that looks like a sheet of paper) next to the blog you want to edit the labels for as seen in the picture below

You should now see a list of all posts on the blog

Select/tick the posts you want to add a label to (i.e posts you want to put into a category e.g blogging tips)

Click "New Label" as seen in the picture below

You should now see a new window similar to the one below where you can enter the label (name of the category)

Enter it (preferable in small letters) and click OK.

That's all.

Follow the same steps if you want to add another label to the post or to other posts.

If you view the posts you added the label to, the label will be listed with it. You will see it right under the post as seen in the picture below.

Clicking on the label will take you to a page containing only posts with that label.

You can grab the link of the label and link it to a tab in your navigation bar as explained in "How To Add Tabs To Blogger Header".

I will explain how you can get labels links in my future posts. I will also share with you how to change and remove label from your posts. Just make sure you subscribe to this blog if you do not want to miss the tutorials.

How I Added Related Posts Widget To Blogger Blog

Many readers of your blog will spend more time on our blog after reading a post, if they see more related posts. If you really want to increase the page views of your blog, then you must be showing related posts under each post on your blog. In this post, I am sharing with you, how I added a widget/plugin to my blog , which displays list of related posts below each post on my Blogger blog.

The related posts widget will show a new related posts section below your post. The related posts widget fetches the related posts from those posts having the same label as the current post.

To add the related posts widget you will have to follow the steps below:.

==> Log in to your blogger dashboard
==> From there go to Layout > Edit HTML and tick the expand your widget templates box (option on the right). If you are using new Blogger dashboard, go to Template > Edit HTML > Proceed and tick the expand your widget templates box
==> Now use CTRL+ F to find </head>

How To Change Back To Old Blogger Dashboard

Recently, Blogger introduced a new clean interface designed for a streamlined blogging experience. While some Bloggers including me,are enjoying the new Blogger interface, some are not. If you have switched to the new Blogger interface and not yet comfortable with it, you can still switch back to the old Blogger dashboard.

How To Get Started

Log in to your blog at www.blogger.com or www.blogspot.com

Look at the top-right corner and click on the "Blogger options" icon.

You will see a drop-down list as seen in the picture below:

Click on the "Old Blogger Interface" link.

The page will be automatically refreshed and switched back to the old Blogger dashboard.

That's all.

Please, try and get used to the new Blogger interface because it is loaded with new features not available in the Old Blogger dashboard which includes the Google+1 Counter.

I hope to talk more about this later.

How To Add Friends on Mozat Chat App

After you might have installed Mozat messenger onto your phone, you will have to add friends for you to chat using the Mozat app. You can add friends by adding their Mozat PINs. If you know the phone number of your friend, you can also add the friend using his/her mobile number.

How To Get Started

==> Launch the Mozat App
==> Scroll to "Chats" (right under the Mozat screen)
==> Select Menu.
==> You will see some options. Select ADD FRIEND
==> You will see the different ways you can add friends i.e Add by PIN, Add by Mobile Number etc

==> Select "add by PIN" if you know the PIN of the friend you want to add. Enter the PIN and select OK.
==> Select "add by mobile number" if you know the phone number of the friend you want to add.

A request will be sent to the friend and once accepted, you guys will be connected and can start chatting on Mozat.

The SEARCH for FRIENDS option allows you to search for those that are online, those that have pictures and you can also choose if it is male or female you want.

That's all.

Note: Though you can use Mozat app to chat with a Blackberry user who also have a Mozat account but you cannot add BBM PIN to the Mozat app. You can only add a MOZAT PIN.

Google Plus One Counter added to New Blogger Dashboard

Blogger has introduced another Google Plus integration feature into Blogger dashboard. You might have already noticed this if you are using the new Blogger dashboard. The new feature is a "Google Plus One Counter".

The G+1 counter displays a count of how many times each post has been Google +ed, right beside each published post in your Blogger dashboard. Each time a reader clicks the +1 button on a post, a +1 gets added to that post's counter and their profile photo and name will appear.

These counts are available only in the new Blogger interface. So if you are still using the old Blogger dashboard, this might be a good time to make a move.

As an author, the Google Plus One Counter will allow you to quickly scan your dashboard to see which posts are most popular on your blog.
