How I Disable Sidebar and Footer on Blogger Pages

You might have noticed that there are no sidebars nor footer sections on the page where I promote my bulkSMS reseller manual and some other few pages on my blog. Well, you can do the same on your Blogger Page.

This can be so useful when creating a landing page for your blog or when creating a page where you don't want blog visitors that land on the page to be distracted by widgets on your sidebars and blog footer.

If I don't want the Google ads on my sidebar to appear on a page I want to advertise with Google Adwords, I simply disable the sidebar.

So, How ?

==> After creating a page, I switch to the HTML mode of the post editor and paste the code below into the editor:

Nokia has introduced two new affordable smartphones under its popular Lumia range, namely the Nokia Lumia 520 and Lumia 720. According to GSMArena, both devices pack a dual-core 1 GHz Snapdragon processor (Krait to be precise), run on Windows Phone 8 and share Nokia's many software advancements like Drive, Maps, software lenses, etc.

The Nokia Lumia 720 features highly responsive curved 4.3" WVGA display with Nokia's ClearBlack technology and Gorilla Glass 2 protection. The screen works with gloves,nails etc. The dual-core processor is coupled with 512 MB of RAM. Internal memory is 8Gigs and there's a microSD card slot with up to 64GB support.

The camera on the back is a 6.7MP unit while the front-facing camera is 1.3 megapixel. Wireless charging is enabled too via the optional wireless charging cover. The Lumia 720 has a non-removable 2,000mAh battery.

The Nokia Lumia 520 on the other hand is the cheapest Nokia Lumia Windows phone and is designed with a number of rich innovations. It also packs a dual-core 1 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM but the display is a 4" WVGA IPS LCD with super sensitive touch. The camera on the back is 5 MP but there is no camera at the front.

The curved back features exchangeable covers, but there's no wireless charging option. The internal storage is 8GB by default, but you can put in a microSD card (up to 64GB).

Where Can I Find the Serial Number and Product Number of HP Laptop?

A friend of mine needs the product and serial numbers of his HP Netbook for it to be configured for SIM registration which will involve the installation of Axon Face2Face application and HP connection manager. Unfortunately, the sticker at the back of the netbook with the serial number has faded!!

He called me to find out if I know other ways he can get the serial number of his HP netbook. I googled it up and found some tips which have decided to share with you.

Option 1

Click Start, enter HP in the search field, and select "HP Support Assistant" from the search results list if using Windows 7 or Vista PC. If it is Windows XP PC, select "HP Help and Support" from the list. Look at the bottom edge of the window for "Serial Number" You can also find your "Product Name" and "Product Number" there.

Option 2.

Look for a sticker on the underside or your HP notebook or within the battery compartment and you must remove the battery to read the label. Look for "Serial Number" or "s/n" on the sticker. You can also find product name, model number and warranty number there.

Option 3

In Windows, press the fn + esc keys on the notebook’s keyboard to open the HP System Information window. A Support Information window appears showing a product name and a product number.

NOTE: You can use the model number (also called a product name) to download drivers, find helpful documents, or get on-line support from HP website.

How To Change Blogger Mobile Template To Mobstac

For over a year now, I have been using mobstac to power the mobile version of my blog because it allows me to display custom and google ads to people that read my blog with Opera mini and some other mobile browsers.

If you're monetizing your blogger blog with Google Adsense and have activated the blogger mobile template, anyone that visits your blog with Opera browser will not see any ad on your blogger-powered mobile site. Just imagine how much money you will be losing if high percentage of your mobile traffic use opera mini browser.

Hence, if you want to be making money from your mobile traffic especially those that access your blog with opera mini, you have to use mobstac and ensure they only see the mobstac version of your blog and not the blogger-powered mobile site.

If you want your blog readers to see your mobstac site instead of the blogger mobile template whenever they access your blog on their smartphones, all you just need to do is to add the mobstac redirection code to your blogger html and deactivate the blogger mobile template.

For you to add the mobstac code to your blog's html, you must have an approved mobstac account and you must have set up "m" subdomain for the mobstac site eg m.ogbongeblog.com. Hence, if you are still using www.somename.blogspot.com, you will have to change your blogspot to .com to get started. I can set up a custom domain for your blogger blog if you don't know how to get it done.

To deactivate blogger mobile template, log in to your blogger dashboard, click on "Template". Click on the settings icon under "mobile". Select "No. Show desktop template on mobile devices." and SAVE.

BBM DP Not Changing? Try This Solution

I used to think there is no big deal in BBM display pictures not changing not until it happened to me. My bbm dp refused to change for two weeks. It got me so worried because it wasn't a general problem. All my friends that are also using Glo BIS were not affected at all and I kept on wondering why is my bbm picture not changing?

I rebooted the blackberry several times, removed the battery, removed the dp and everything..but no success. I even added myself to my BBM contacts so I can monitor my dp. I noticed that BBM status will change while my dp won't change on bbm. When I became so fed up,I decided to google the problem to see if I can get a solution.

After googling it, I saw series of forum threads related to the problem. I browsed through and saw different suggestions. While some claim it is just a temporary problem, some suggested bbm should be deleted and re-installed via www.blackberry.com/bbm instead of through the BB AppWorld.

I tried to delete the BBM and I was surprised not to see the "delete" option after right-clicking on the BBM icon nor see "Blackberry Messenger" listed under "Application Management" ( Options>Device>Application Management).

At this point, it became so obvious that my BBM is corrupt. So, I decided to upgrade the BBM via Blackberry AppWorld. I upgraded to the latest version of BBM and restarted my BB. I changed my BBM dp and it worked! Honestly, I felt so happy.

NB: You might receive some broadcasts eg "Display pictures will not change unless you broadcast this message: having the code:REP#26356". Please, ignore such silly BCs. They are crap.

Different Types of Affiliate Marketing Programs You Can Earn Money From

In my recent post; Affiliate Marketing Program On The Internet: How Does It Works?; I detailed the meaning of affiliate marketing and explained the roles of the main actors involved in an affiliate program transaction. However, I didn't explain the basic types of affiliate programs. That’s what I’m here to share with you today.

Over the past few years, affiliate programs have grown so much, taking many interesting forms. The most basic affiliate marketing programs, however, falls under two categories:

pay-per-click (PPC), and
pay-per-performance (PPP).

1. Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Affiliate Program

This is the easiest type of affiliate marketing in which affiliates earn money whenever a visitor is referred to a merchant site. The referred visitors don't have to buy anything before the affiliate will get paid and what the visitor does on the merchant site doesn't concern the affiliate.

If you promote a PPC affiliate program, you will get paid a certain amount even if the visitor you refer doesn't buy anything from the merchant's site. What you will earn per click might not be up to a dollar though.

2. Pay-Per-Performance (PPP) Affiliate Program

This is the type of affiliate program preferred by majority of merchants because merchants will pay affiliates ONLY when the referred visitors perform an action.

PPP affiliate program can be further classified into two popular types:

pay-per-sale (PPS)
pay-per-lead (PPL).

Pay-Per-Sale

In this arrangement, affiliates get paid when the visitors referred to merchant's site purchase something. Merchant pay affiliates a percentage of the sale price when the purchase is completed. Amazon.com's affiliate program is an example of PPS affiliate program.

Pay-Per-Lead

In this program, affiliates get paid once the referred visitors provide their contact information on the merchant's site by filling out a simple form related to the business of the merchant.

The merchant may use the info as a sales lead or sell to another company as a sales lead. PPL is often used by finance companies and other companies who rely on leads for their company to grow.

Aside from these basic types of affiliate marketing, a lot of other affiliate marketing types exist. Just pick one which you think would suit you best. You can also venture into multiple types at the same time to find out which ones are right for you.

You might think it is easy, but in reality, you need to put in a lot of effort at first for affiliate marketing to work. Once you finally know your way through it, your affiliate marketing venture can turn from being an additional source of income on the internet to being your primary financial source.

How To Open and Verify Paypal With Blackberry Phone

While going through the business board on Nairaland Forum today, I stumbled on a thread where a Nairalander shared a step by step guide on how to own and verify a USA PayPal account yourself here in Nigeria and have decided to share the info with you.

The trick simply involves the use of a Blackberry phone with an active BIS and a USA virtual bank account (VBA).

The Blackberry lets you access the PayPal website using a foreign IP. Hence, no need for a VPN nor a software to change your Nigerian IP. The VBA, on the other hand is needed for PayPal verification. Though, without it, you can still open your unverified PayPal account.

STEPS

==> Visit www.ip2location.com with your default BB browser, to check the IP address of your phone. The country shown there is not going to be Nigeria. It might be United Kingdom. Just take note of the country.

==> Next, is to generate the US address and US phone number needed for opening the PayPal account. You can get that from www.yelp.com or any other yellow pages website. Just copy down the details.

Alternatively, use:

Replace the asterisks with any number of your choice. You can change your phone number later to a real one, through PayPal can even reach you.

==> Next, is to visit the homepage of USA PayPal via www.paypal.com/us According to the OP of the thread, opening a USA PayPal account with UK IP might make PayPal think you are living in UK but you are a US citizen who wants to open a PayPal account to be linked to your USA bank account.

==> Click on "Sign Up", Choose "Premium" account type, fill in your details including a valid email address, plus the US address and phone number generated earlier and click on "Agree and Create Account" button.

==> A new page should open, click on "Go to my account" link. Then, click on "Confirm email address" link. You will see a space where you can enter your confirmation code.

==> Open your email address with your BB default browser in another tab. Do not use any other browser. (Very Important!). You will see the verification email sent to you by PayPal. Open it and copy out the verification code.

==> Go back to PayPal account and paste/enter the verification code in the space provided. If successful, you will be directed to the next page to provide two secret questions and answers for security. Provide the info and submit.

==> Congrats! You just opened a PayPal account, though unverified. You can use it to send and receive money, though there are some limits on it.

Stage 2, is the PayPal account verification process.

==> You will need a USA virtual bank account (VBA) for this. You need to find a seller online. Anyone that sells a VBA to you will provide you with: A routing number, an account number, Bank name, a USER ID and a password.

==> Once you have your VBA info, go to "My Account" page and click on "Add bank account"

==> Add your US bank details as required in the fields you will see in the next page and click on "continue"

==> Enter the UserID and Password provided to you by the VBA seller and click on "Confirm Instantly". If successful, you will see a "Bank account confirmed" alert displayed on the page.

That's all.

NOTE:

==> The fact that you're verified doesn't mean your account can't be limited. So, don't keep too much money in your account

==> Anything you want to do relating to this PayPal account should be done through your Blackberry default browser.

==> Alert on any transaction you make will be sent to your email. So, you don't always need to login to your account. Only log in there when you want to send money.

1. Social Media

Successful bloggers uses social media strategies to build their blog popularity. With Facebook and Twitter having millions of users, failing to syndicate your blog content to these platforms is a big mistake.

Try opening a Facebook and Twitter account for your blog and syndicate each post you make to those accounts. There are free services like "Twitter Feed", "Networked Blogs" that can automatically do that for you. Though I know many popular blogs that are still using .blogspot, the chance of making it with free a domain name is very low. Error 404 Page: How To Customize It With Search Box On Blogger Blogs

When visitors to your blog reach a non-existent page on your blog (because they've clicked on a broken link, the page has been deleted, or they've mistyped a URL), they see a 404 Page as Blogger returns a 404 (Page Not Found) error.

Confronted by a 404 page, they may then attempt to manually correct the URL, click the back button, or even navigate away from your blog. However, there are various ways to help your visitors get out of the dead-end situation, one of which is by creating a custom 404 Page.

Yesterday, while trying to read about 404s and how they do (or do not) affect sites, I stumbled on a Webmaster Tools 404 widget that can be used in embedding a search box on custom 404 pages.

The widget simply helps your visitors find what they're looking for by providing suggestions based on the incorrect URL. I tried it on my blog and works fine.

With the 404 widget added to my Blogger blog, if you try to access a non-existing page on my blog e.g www.ogbongeblog.com/facebook, you will see a search box with a site search query suggestion as seen in the screenshot below:

If you click the "Google Search" button, it will return search result pages with alternatives to the incorrect URL. You will definitely agree with me that this will make it easier for users to find the information they need (and makes it less likely that they'll leave your blog to look elsewhere).

So, How Do I add Search Box To Blogger Custom 404 Page?

==> Log in to your Blogger dashboard
==> Go to Settings > Search preferences > Custom Page not Found.
==> Click "Edit" to open the text box.
==> Copy and paste the highlighted text below: (Be sure to replace the URL http://www.ogbongeblog.com with the URL of your blog).

Sorry, the page you were looking for in this blog does not exist.

Affiliate Marketing Program On The Internet: How Does It Works?

If you have been googling, "How can I make money online from my website", there is no way you won't have stumbled on the the idea of been an Internet Affiliate Marketer.

There are a huge number of affiliates earning full-time incomes on the internet from affiliate marketing, and a lot of affiliates doing considerably more than that! You too, can.

So, What is Affiliate Marketing?

In a nutshell, it is a practice where you (as an affiliate) get paid for referring sales or customers to an online merchant web site.

You post links, ad banners linking to the merchant site on your website and earn commission for your marketing efforts.

There are at least three actors in an affiliate program transaction:

A: Merchant site = Seller or service provider e.g Jumia Nigeria

Since "C" (customer) is not familiar with "A", "C" is often skeptical of buying any product from an unknown company. "A" is aware of this fact and also knows that "C" trusts you. After all, if your friends receive an email from you, won`t they open it?.

So "A" partners with you, to use your goodwill to introduce their products to "C". No doubt, "C" would show interest in your offers because of your familiarity.

Now, "A" is prepared to pay you commission per transaction with you for referring "C" to their products. "A" generates unique links, ad banners etc for you which you can be using to promote their products.

You decided to give it a try. You register with the merchant affiliate program, grab your unique affiliate links and post them on your blog, Facebook, Twitter etc

When "C" visits the merchant site via your unique affiliate link and purchase the product of "A", "A" pays you your commission which can pile up to a particular amount before "A" sends your payment to you to your PayPal account or in form of check.

Beware of Phishing Mails That Threaten To Suspend Your Blogger Blog Within 24 Hours

Some cyber criminals are currently sending out phishing mails to some bloggers. The goal of the online identity theft is to harvest the usernames and passwords of blogs hosted on Blogger. If you are not careful, your blog might be hijacked and you might have to pay some ransom before they can restore it for you.

A friend of mine suffered from phishing attack yesterday. Her blog was hijacked which gave the criminals access to her Google account. They changed her Google account recovery phone number and email address. Hence, she couldn't access GMail nor her blog.

The criminals, mailed her that her blog will be suspended within 24 hours, claiming to have found some Malware and Trojan virus on her blog. The links in the mail pointed to a phishing site that mimicked the Blogger homepage.

I guess she was scared of losing her big blog. Hence, she went ahead in a hurry to log in on the fake page. The criminals harvested her info and used it to hijack her blog.

Look closely, did you notice the GMail address? That alone should tell you it is a phishing mail. More so, Blogger will never mail you with a GMail address. I am still wondering why the criminals used a GMail there because professional criminals will be smarter than this.

Imagine, the criminals even used goo.gl to shorten theirs links. lol. Blogger will never do this.

Clicking the links lead to this fake Blogger page.

Look closely at the URL in the address bar. When did Google change Blogger address to liberty0.5gbfree.com?

Even if you type in www.blogger.com into your browser, it changes to a long secured URL and not this shit.

Well, her blog has been restored. It was easy for her to restore the blog because there was a recovery phone number in her account before it was hijacked.

If your Google account get compromised and the criminals change your recovery phone number, Google will still give you the option of verifying your ownership via the deleted phone number. The hijackers don't have control over this verification system. That's where she defeated them.

According to Google, having a mobile phone number on your account is one of the easiest and most reliable ways to help keep your account safe and ensure that you can get back into your account if your account is hijacked or you forget your password.

Your mobile phone is a more secure identification method than your recovery email address or a security question because, unlike the other two, you have physical possession of your mobile phone.

Cyber criminals target Blogger accounts without phones because they're easier targets. Add a phone number now and join hundreds of millions of other Google users who have helped stop the criminals in their tracks.

How To Clear DSTv Error E16 On The Internet

I payed for DStv subscription online using MyPaga, expecting my DSTv smartcard to be reauthorized instantly. Unfortunately, after waiting for over thirty minutes, the decoder was still displaying "E16 - Service is currently scrambled".

I decided to call the DSTv phone number: 012703232 to reset the error 16 or speak to a DSTv agent. I was disappointed because the error clearing service wasn't available after entering the first 10 digits of my DSTv smart card followed by the # key several times. All efforts to connect to a live agent was also in vain.

I decided to visit the dstv website to see if I can solve the DSTv error E16 online. Fortunately, I saw a form on the site. I entered my DSTv smartcard number and within three minutes, my smart card was reauthorized and my DStv stations were restored.

So, How Do I Solve DSTv Error E16?

==> Go to www.dstv.com

==> Click on the SELF-SERVICE tab

==> You will see a form on the sidebar which you can use to clear DSTv error codes

==> Enter the first ten digits of your DSTv smart card, select E16, enter the captcha code and click on "clear error" button

==> If successful, you will see an alert that your smartcard has been reauthorized

==> Wait for some minutes and your DSTv channels should be restored.

Recently, Google launched a new, larger 970x90 ad size, also known as ‘super leaderboards’, giving you the opportunity to attract brand advertisers looking for large spaces to engage with users. This larger ad size is another visually impactful placement for advertisers to promote their products and services even on wider screens.

The new super leaderboard ad unit can show up to four text ads organized in a column layout but, as with other ad sizes, the number of text ads per unit may vary per impression. This new will fit perfectly in the header or footer sections of your blog.

If you are interested in adding this new "super leatherboard" to your Blogger blog, you must ensure that the entire width of your blog is wider than 970 pixels. You can read "How To Determine Width of Image that will fit into Blog Header" and "How To Adjust Widths of Entire Blog and Sidebars" for you to know the size of your blog header and how to increase your blog's width.

Now, let me assume that your Blog header or footer is wider than 970 pixels. Follow the steps below in adding the 970x90 ad unit to your Blogger blog

==> Log in to www.google.com/adsense
==> Click on "My Ads" tab
==> Click the "New Ad Unit" button to create your ad
==> Name your ad unit and select "970x90 Large leatherboard" from the "Ad size" drop down box

==> Click the "Save and get code" button
==> Copy the ad code

==> Log in to your Blogger dashboard
==> Click on "Add a Gadget" link in the header region of your blog
==> Click on the "HTML/Javascript" gadget
==> Paste the copied ad code in the box. Leave "Title" blank
==> Click "Save".

View your blog and you should see the ad unit on your blog.

NOTE: If you enable image and rich media ads for this unit, display ads in the size of a 728x90 unit might be displayed initially if Google doesn't have a 970x90 rich media in their inventory.

Quite a number of bloggers are not able to make their first $100 in the first three years of blogging. You don’t believe me? Visit blogging forums and raise that topic; just ask members to tell you how many of them have not cashed their first checks and you would be amazed at the alarming number.

Yet there are those bloggers who earn thousands of dollars monthly from Google Adsense. I am going to mention just three of these top earners because of time. Their claims are verifiable; they are making it big with their sites online. You too can make it, only if you know what to do.

+Pete Cashmore of Mashable earns about $600,000 in Google Adsense Ad from his blog’s 25M page views monthly. Hope this doesn’t blow off your head? This makes him the top earner.
Shawn Hogan of digital point earns about $500,000 monthly from Google Adsense revenue alone, from his blog’s monthly views of about 25M. This site was founded in 1995 and focuses on the areas of blogging, SEO, marketing, etc.
Mario Lavandeira of Perez Hilton is one of the top earners. He earns about $200,000 monthly from Adsense as well. His site was founded in 2005 and now gets about a million hits everyday. The site is focused on celebrity gossips.

The list is actually endless; but I just decided to talk about only three so as to let you know there are people making a full time living from their blogs. To get to the point of earning high revenue with your blog, you really need to work hard and get things right.

Earn more revenue with Google Adsense Ad

I know you are already saying in your mind that you would never be able to earn that big even if you break a bank. You are partially right; but not completely right.

When the likes of Pete Cashmore, Shawn Hogan, Mario Lavandeira, Michael Arrington, etc. started, they never thought they would get to where they are today. So anybody can actually get there, including you.

Having heard all the stories of those earning fat, how do you increase your own chances of making it with Google Adsense?

You need to do the following:

1. Increase your traffic

You must have noticed that one thing is common to the three persons we used as our case studies – TRAFFIC. All the three sites mentioned here have traffic of at least 25M views per month.

So to stand a chance, you must improve your site traffic. You may not be able to drive 25M people to your site, but at least you can do something to improve the current situation.

You can do this by using social media like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Youtube, Pinterest, etc. to increase the amount to traffic that comes to your site. Become more active and more purposeful with social media and your traffic would improve.

2. Quality Content

“Content is King”. I am sure you have heard that slogan before.

Why do you think people flock to Mashable, Techcrunch, Weblog, Digital point, Shoe money, Tweetmeme, Technorati, boing boing, forbes, etc in their millions?

There is simply quality content that keeps them engaged. When the quality of content you have on your site improves, more readers would be attracted and more sites would naturally link to the blog.

3. Ad Positioning

The position of the ad on your blog matters a lot.

Most visitors to your blog have their eyes on the right sidebar and top panel. So why place your Adsense ad block in the left sidebar or below the comment box where they would hardly be seen by anyone.

To increase the chances of earning more, place your Google Adsense block on the right sidebar, top panel and inside your content.

4. Improve your Page rank

Have you not noticed that people tend to migrate toward blogs with Google Page rank of 3 and above? Why do they do that? It is because we are all selfish.

Everybody is looking for where to get some form of benefit or advantage. So, they see the higher PR blogs as a place to get link juice from comments, guest article submission, backlink building, etc.

Apart from improving your Google page rank, you should also put in more efforts to improve your Alexa rank too. Advertisers favour sites with Alexa rank that is below 200,000.

If you get these two right, tendency is that more readers would come and that would eventually translate into higher Google Adsense Ad revenue.

5. Enable Commentluv or Google+ Comments

Blogs with commentluv enabled are attracting more visits, more comments and more interactions these days. It might slightly dilute your PR but it would bring more traffic and increase your revenue in the process. It is a matter of making a choice as to what you want, between SEO and revenue.

If you activate Google+ comments on your blog, you will likely get more traffic from Google+, which in turn will lead to increase in the money you make from Adsense.

6. Involve your friends

Sometimes you may not be able to fight the battle alone; you need the involvement of friends. You have to build relationship with fellow bloggers in the same niche with you.

Each time you publish a new post, send them the link to share with their social circles. You can leverage on this to increase your traffic and trust.

Why do you think I am building a relationship with the probloggers via guest posts? It is for exposure, traffic, recognition, enlargement of my coast and increase in revenue. If they recommends me to their followers for example, it could explode my traffic overnight and also increase my revenue in the long run.

Conclusion

In order to increase your chances of earning big with your Google Adsense Ad, try to implement the recommendations above. Once this is rightly done, you will notice an increase in your Adsense revenue in the next couple of weeks.

You can now check your JAMB UTME 2013 result at http://jamb.org.ng/Unifiedtme3/. The site works fine compared to www.myjambresult.com which remains inaccessible as at the time of publishing this post.

All you just need to do is enter your Registration number/PIN or Slip Number in the UTME result checker box, then click on the "submit" button.

Be careful when giving out your registration number to your friends because you can only check your UTME result maximum of five times, after which you will have to purchase a scratch card for you to be able to check the 2013 JAMB result.

The day Nokia Nigeria announced Nokia Asha 210 on facebook, many fans were so curious to know if Whatsapp s40 messenger now works on dual-SIM Nokia phones. Unfortunately, Nokia replied the comments, telling the fans that Whatsapp messenger does not support dual SIM phones.

You might have seen some blogs with a vertical floating share bar widget where Facebook like, Tweet, Google+ buttons are present on the left or right side of the blogs. Adding this floating sharing bar to your blog will make it easy for your blog visitors to Like, reTweet, +1 and share your posts, which will help in increasing your blog traffic.

Though I've explained how to add the sharing bar when I published how to add Facebook Share & Like buttons, Digg and Tweet Button to the side of blogger/blogspot blogs, I've recoded a better one which I decided to share with you. I have replaced "Facebook Share" with Facebook Like button and removed Digg and SU buttons.
