Space Science and Engineering Center website by University of Wisconsin-Madison's Graduate School shows a real time animation of the cloud cover over the North America continent. It gets the satellite images and shows animation by stitching those images together. With the help of it you can get an idea of what weather is going to be like in coming hours by taking a look at the forming clouds, storms near your city area.

You can see weather for the hours passed and at the end of day you see what it looked throughout the day. We all know its difficult to predict the weather in our present day world but this really shows how the cloud cover is changing continuously over North America.

I just saw an amazing video of pen called Livescribe which was built by a company called Infocom, the pen has a virtual machine called Z-Machine developed by Infocom to help port their games to the myriad of incompatible computers that were around in the early 80s. This could really have amazing uses, as its an intelligent pen. The bad thing about this was that you have to read for the instructions on its small LCD screen. Here’s the video enjoy:

The pen seems to be created in 2010, but still it’s a must watch. :)

Facebook acquiring Instagram for $1 billion

Just a day before yesterday there was big bang in social networking world as Facebook bought Instagram for whooping $1 billion !. Instagram app allows its users to share photos with cool effects and then follow each other. It was launched last year for iPhone and became a phenomenon after that. iPhone users started joining it and started following each other just like Facebook pages. This 13 employee company also recently launched the app for Android which increased its user base in millions. Mark knew in his mind that its going to be the next big thing on internet, but then Facebook realized about the competition and acquired it before any other internet giant like Google.

Mark Zuckerberg said:

“We think the fact that Instagram is connected to other services beyond Facebook is an important part of the experience. We plan on keeping features like the ability to post to other social networks, the ability to not share your Instagrams on Facebook if you want, and the ability to have followers and follow people separately from your friends on Facebook.”

So lets see how facebook will evolve after this $1 billion deal…

Blogger changes urls of all blogspot blogs

Blogger recently made a bad move by changing URLs of all free blogspot blogs. My blog changed from dreadbob.blogspot.com to dreadbob.blogspot.ca.

I guess the URL changes according to the country from where you are accessing the blog. If you are opening my blog in india then it will be dreadbob.blogspot.in.

Cons of this URL change to blogger blogs
SEO: Many people are worried about this thing and yes the first impact is on SEO of your blogs. All of the links which are redirecting to your site become invalid in the sight of Search engines now. Now search engines will see duplicate content on the your new blog address which may lead to removal of your site from search engines.
Page Rank: At present my blog’s blogspot.com address still maintains its page rank but I think it will go down as soon as the search engines come to know about this change. :(
Widget Problems: Some widgets no more recognize your blog now!. I was having a Stumble upon submit button upon all the blog posts and now they are no more shown and takes too long to load. Also one of my posts received around 10000 stumbles! and now it shows zero on it!. This is all due to this url change!.

What’s not changed
If you type your blogs .blogspot.com address it will automatically redirect to new url, which means .com address are still working. Hope they continue to work if not then its really going to be a big mess!

Apple launches resolutionary New iPad

On March 7,2012 Apple came up with not a revolutionary device but a Resolutionary device which is now called as new iPad. This was their first major release after the death of Steve Jobs the man behind Apple. Yes its not iPad 3 which everyone was expecting. They have decided to go without numbering their upcoming iPad and the same is expected to be happening to iPhone when they a launch a new one.

Here’s what the New iPad is:

The design is same but there is slight increase in weight.

This time Apple iPad has been power packed with a Retina display which made them called it a resolutionary device because no other tablet yet comes with such an ultra high resolution and crisp screen. It has more pixels than an HDTV!.

Now comes the 2nd good feature I liked which is the A5x processor which is a dual core chip with quad core graphics and obviously you are going to see some performance increase and more awesome gaming and apps.

It now comes with a 5 Mega Pixel Camera which is really good for taking some nice pictures. But I am kind of confused why they named it iSight?! Looks like its just being overhyped. Its built as the same way as iPhone 4S with same advanced optics shit. :)

Then comes a taste of Siri on iPad but its just dictation and will help you speak to text i guess. New iPad has 4G LTE connectivity which gives blazing fast download speeds on networks.All these features in the new iPad still maintains a battery backup of 10 hrs on WLAN and 9 hrs on 4G which is good enough for tablets these days.

Pricing:

Prices are same as last year.

But this makes you think of many other Android Tablets and BlackBerry Playbook which are also offering a lot of apps and amazing hardware and designs. So you decide.

Apple’s next iPad ?

Every apple fan must be excited how Apple is going to dazzle the world with its next generation of iPad which is expected to be launched on March 7,2012 in San Francisco. Many websites like Engadget have shown leaked photos of the parts of next iPad which shows larger back camera lens and somewhat slightly more thicker body.

Also the most expected things in the next iPad includes the gorgeous Retina display, a quad core processor, larger RAM, maybe SIRI, better camera and some changes in design.

And what it mightn be called iPad 3 or iPad 2S , just a thought as Apple surprised last year by launching iPhone 4S not 5!.

Many blogs including Engadget and Gizmodo will be live blog the event, so stay sticked to your screens and fingers crossed…

Last week I made a small remix over my iPhone with Garage Band and when I transferred song to my PC, I found that Garage Band made an M4A format of the song which was not playable on every media player and device. But I found a real simple solution to the problem over the web.

Just go to SoundCloud.com and make an account if you don’t have or you can use your Facebook account.

Then just upload the M4A file of your song.

After you are done you will be able to download the song which will be an MP3 version with almost same quality.

Death Rally for iPhone 4S

Few days ago I installed this amazing game called Death Rally on my iPhone 4S and it just brought old memories back when I used to play K Rally on my Nokia N73. Earlier this game was paid and for sometime they made it Free! and I got it installed! :) .

The game has amazing 3D graphics and has a top down view play. If you have not played that type of game then you might feel odd while playing but don’t worry its fun and you will get used to it. The fun factor comes when you get special power ups while racing, you get Nitrous Oxide, repairs, Weapons and ammunition which helps you destroy other cars and win!.

There are many cool cars, weapons and tracks to unlock as you progress during the game. The latest version now also offers online multiplayer gaming..

Facebook changes photo viewing

Facebook have finally changed their photo gallery now the comments can be seen just right to the photos. There was a speculation that they may not consider the change and many were saying that Google will be called as copy cat because everybody first saw the same type of photo viewing in Google plus.

However they finally decided to change it is not only saving screen space but also the user need not scroll down to view the comments because they can be seen right next to the image. So no doubt they have copied this thing from Google but still this is a good move in the road to Facebook evolution after the new Timeline.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012

Hello friends, just like every new year I am again wishing you late as usual :) . Finally I finished my most busiest fall semester ever in December 2011 and I hope that I don’ t see such a semester again in my computing science degree. The fall semester was so insane that university became my home and my home became just a place where I sleep :D.

But 2 awesome things that happened during the semester were that I got an iPhone 4S in October and the other was that I got a co-op internship at Research in Motion YEAH!!.

So I moved to Ontario just as the new year 2012 began and got busy and was trying to adapt to this whole new environment. So now as everything is set I hope that I will be blogging without breaks during this year even though first month is gone, but I will try my best to continue this habit.

Also you must have noticed if you were a regular visitor that My blog just got its new theme which is focused on typography without any extra images and advertisements. This has made my blog clean and less messy :) which is easy to read even on mobile devices.

As I finally got the most ‘awesomest’ device which is iPhone so you should expect some real cool posts about any new iPhone apps and much more cool stuff.. So stay tuned…

Why Apple iPhone 5 may have the same design as iPhone 4

The rumors of next generation of iPhone after the iPhone 4 have been surfacing all over the internet for quite a long time now. Now there’s news that a new device which may be iPhone 5 was spotted and it might have screen like HTC’s EVO mobile device and the design is also different and not the same as iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS. But all these are just rumors and nothing is confirmed from a credible source.

So, why Apple iPhone 5 might have same look as iPhone 4, the answer lies inside the video of the apple’s new iOS 5 which is to be launched in September 2011 soon. As everybody is saying that apple will launch iOS 5 loaded into their next generation iPhone which may be iPhone 5.

Well if you have watched the video of iOS 5 then you must have seen that they are saying that you will be able to click photos with the volume buttons which I guess indicates that if Apple will be showing up their new iPhone 5 with iOS 5 then we can expect the design to be same as only then iPhone would be able click photos that way.

With iOS 5 you can click photos from you iPhone 4 via volume buttons

However this is just my small point of view which I think indicates that the next iPhone will have same design as iPhone 4, but just like everyone else I am also expecting it to be different and with some new cool features because that’s going to be my next phone! cheers..

HTML is one of the first steps towards learning some basic computing. Back in old school days it was the first thing which I learnt and I guess many of you too!. The amazing thing about this web app is that you can instantly view the HTML you code in real-time on the preview screen below the editor. While you type the HTML code in the editor, the preview of the code is shown instantly on the screen below.

Though you cannot use it to create new webpages but it’s a great tool to preview how your HTML tags and code works instantly. I have checked it on Mozilla Firefox 5 and I hope it works on almost all other browsers.

MIT Student creates a simple Gesture Control System

Tony Stark in Iron Man2 using Hand Gestures

Do you remember Iron Man 2 in which Tony Stark uses Hand Gestures in air to create and design his robot suit. Though it has not become reality yet but many companies are researching on this great technology to bring out the best way to make it possible. Researchers are trying to use many sensors and other high tech devices to do this, but Robert Wang a student at MIT has showcased his very simple way to implement Gesture control system which only uses a pair gloves and a webcam which tracks the hands. This make the technology inexpensive and simple.

The gloves are colorful and weird looking but there lies the concept because the color patterns are processed by the computer software and helps computer in recognizing the 3D shape of hand. When the gloves are worn then the person can move and change the objects on screen.

Google Plus to rival the Social Networking leader Facebook

Everybody knows that when it comes to Internet then only one company seems to be dominating and that is Google. They have grabbed almost all the internet cyberspace with their vast range of products like Gmail for Emails, Google Docs for Documents, Picasa for photos, YouTube for Videos and many more.

But Social Networking is one that has questioned Google’s abilities to launch a successful project that could beat and stand against the undisputed leader of Social Networking today that is Facebook. Google launched Orkut but it didn’t became world’s favorite in front of Facebook and was only constrained to two large markets India and Brazil only. And now it seems Google has finally stepped in by launching Google Plus which is going to be a Social Networking platform to rival Facebook. But again the question remains same “Will it be successful?”.

Right now the project google plus is in final beta phase and will be soon available to all and you will be able to login using your Google Accounts.

Google Plus is going to have something called Friend Circles which will allow you manage your friends list better and it is also going to have chat plus video calls which is definitely going to make Facebook add the feature of Video calls. What are Do-Follow links and No-Follow links

Making a blog popular is really a hard job and it needs a lot of effort. And if you have been trying to improve your blog’s traffic and visitors, then you must have heard the Do-Follow and No-Follow links on many websites and you might be wondering what the heck are these terms made for, even I was not aware of these strange words but believe me understanding them can help you get a lot of unique traffic to your blog.

There are 2 types of links Do-Follow Links and No-Follow Links :

Do-Follow Links: The links we generally use but are unaware of them are Do-Follow links.

For example this link Google is written as :

<a href="http://google.com">Google</a>

These links are pretty normal in use.

No-Follow Links: These links are also very similar to the normal links but have one small difference in writing their HTML code which is the rel=”nofollow” attribute.

For example this link Google is written as a No-Follow link as :

<a href="http://google.com" rel="nofollow">Google</a>

You can see that Do-Follow link and No-Follow link look same except for the rel attribute used in No-Follow link.

What are really Do-Follow and No-Follow links?

The more you have do-follow links to your blog from other blogs and blog directories, the more your website becomes popular and stands a good chance to get a higher Page Rank from Google. If a blog has page rank 6 and t has your blog’s link which is a do-follow link then your website is getting a piece of his Page Rank Cake too! and the value of your link in the Search Engines increases which helps in driving more traffic to your blog from Search Engines because these links are visible to Search Engines.

However no-follow links are just the opposite of Do-Follow links, these links don’t give any benefit to the website to which they link to. So you cannot expect any Page Rank increase or traffic increase from these links. They are only confined to single website and are not crawled by the Search Engine Spiders, which simply means that these links are not visible to Search Engines. So No-Follow links are of no use to your blog if you are doing a SEO of your blog.

So if you want to increase visitors and traffic to your blog then you should consider getting a backlink from Do-Follow websites.

Now Facebook Chat on Skype !

How to enable Mobile Blogger Templates for Blogger blogs

Blogger has launched a new feature for blogger blogs with which you can give a different view of your blog to the mobile web users. Now you can enable the mobile template for your blog which shows your blog in a more simple way without any big images, animations and advertisements on mobile devices.

You don’t have to make any changes to your current blogger template, all you need to do is enable the setting on your blogger dashboard.

Here’s How to do it:

On Dashboard screen click on Settings

Go to Email and Mobile Tab.

Under Mobile Template choose Yes and you are set.

You can also preview how your blog looks in the mobile template version by clicking the mobile preview or by scanning the QR code with your mobile camera.

What’s different in Mobile Template

The mobile template for blogs just only shows up the posts and the comments from your blog, so that the blog can be easily viewed in any mobile browsers like Iphone Safari, Android and others.

So whenever someone open your blog from Mobile device, they will see the mobile version not the original version. Remember, No other links, buttons, ads and any other stuff on your blog are shown up in mobile template except those mobile adsense ads which are shown on the top. The full original desktop version can also be viewed by clicking the Web Version link below.

The mobile templates loads up real fast on mobile browsers and it makes the blog to be read easily on small screens of mobile devices.
