My mom is a mystery shopper, but we do not know the name of her company. Her company was definitely legitimate. We do not want to get into a scam, so which companies are legit?

I suggest you go to the National Mystery Shopping Providers Association (MSPA) http://www.mysteryshop.org , an organization of mystery shopping companies. This is the organization that you can TRUST in this field

Check out their listing of shopping assignments by country and by state from member companies. Companies are accepted as members of the association only if they have been in existence for two years and they can submit proof of business existence. Make a list of these companies and check out their requirements to be a mystery shopper.

The MSPA North America has a job board listing available mystery shoppers position

If in doubt, double-check the company with the local Better Business Bureau http://www.bbb.org , usually under the Service Intelligence category. Find out if any complaints have been lodged with the mystery shopping company, before agreeing to do work for them.

i came across the website but i wonder is it reliable or not?
it’s some website that will give you assignment based on shopping, and you will get paid for everything, at the end of the day you will even get paid after writing in a report.
Can someone with experience with GAPbuster share with me thier experience. thank you (anyway i’m living in singapore, their company is not located in my country that’s why i’m not sure if they are reliable or not)

I received a letter, much like a job assignment for a secret shopper. They also gave a large check ($ 1900) with instructions to wire an XXXX amount of cash to a obviously fake name. They also gave a 2nd assignment to spend XX money at Walmart ($ 80). Both places you are to write a review on the quality of the service you received and fax everything to your manager. In return you receive a decent amount of money and you get to “keep” your purchase from Walmart… work out you make about $ 300-$ 400. Now if its not obvious to you, THIS IS A SCAM. once you wire THEIR money from the large check, the large check you cashed that is supposed to cover the wire transfer, but the check BOUNCES, making the bank take your money instead. This whole job is FAKE FALSE PHONY.

NOW HERE IS WHERE YOU CAN HELP:
Dont throw away your offer. These people ripping everyone off completly stop answering phones and then dissappear. SO PLEASE SAVE YOUR OFFER (LETTER) so that way it can be turned in to the proper people to help catch these heartless people. I have already reported this to the FTC, BBB, police, Bank of America, Western Union, and City Bank… but we need more to catch these guys. using YOUR offer, we can use the job # and contact the job manager and track them with hope we can bust them. You can contact me via email and I will give you further info on how you can help catch these SCAMMERS at >>>> macandcoco@yahoo.com <<<<. Many victims fell for this and some have even suffered JAIL TIME for Bank Fraud (the VICTIMS!!!) so please save your letter and lets catch these monsters. Can you please keep your letter and turn it in? you can feel safe to turn this in, i may only need your first name (along with the assignment #) so these guys can think you are calling them and not somebody catching them. YOU CAN HELP GREATLY

There are dozens of sites that collect scammer information, you might find your scammer already posted there and can add your information to what is there.

Since scammers intend to steal victim’s money, they don’t use their real life name to register the email address or to register the fake websites. Scammers give out paid-for-in-cash cell phone numbers and pick up cash from Western Union using photoshopped IDs. Scammers lie about their gender, age and country.

Thanks for posting up the “job posting” from that scammer. Making a scammer’s scam googlable is a great way to slow that scammer down when a suspicious potential victim goes looking for information, finds your post and then does not become a victim because you took the time to “get the word out”. Thanks!!

Wasting a scammer’s time legally and safely is called “scambaiting”. If you google that word, you will find sites where you can read scambaits, post up the emails and email addresses of scammers, ask questions and learn all about that hobby.

I received a check from amazon for $ 2,975 to be a “secret shopper”, the letter say’s to spend $ 20 at burger king, and $ 45 at walmart, but the list also includes me making a money gram transfer at western union for $ 2,516 with a few extra charges ($ 48) for a fee at western union, has anyone gotten a letter and check like this?
i was skeptical of it too, but my brother and my girlfriends friend got a check, with instructions like these, but they ignored the instructions and found a check cashing place that cashed the check, and they never got a fee later on….what could happen if i did that and cashed the check, the last name on the check is spelled christy, my last name is christEy, could they do anything if i got someone to cash it?

Okay, so i work at Burger King, and everyone that works there says that there’s no way to know if you’re being mystery shopped. For those of you who don’t know, people come in and act like normal customers, when in reality they’re getting paid to evaluate our restaurant. They look at how clean it is, how friendly we are, if we ask them if they want cheese on their sandwich, ect. But what im wondering is wouldnt the shoppers have to be writing things down? How could they remember everyone’s names thats working that day AND they have to go outside and check the playground AND the bathroom. I just started there so wouldn’t it be obvious if some guy was wandering around and went out into the playground by himself? This might be a really stupid questioin, but I just really want to do good when I get mystery shopped.

If you treat every customer exactly the same way, as humanly possible, then it doesn’t matter who is a mystery shopper at all. So, if you want to be double-sure, then treat every customer as if they were a mystery shopper.

Katie Catches fake cheque scammer posing as Secret Shopper Job (“Nigerian 419″ Scam)

When you are searching for a job and see advertised in wanted ads online saying they need an “evaluator” I didn’t even know it was for a “Secret Shopper” at first. My job coach told me to apply when I asked her about it (as I wasn’t going to) and since I worried she would think I wasn’t serious about finding work, I did apply. Before I did however I checked out the site and saw then it was for a Secret Shopper. She said “It might be fun! Go for it!” so I asked her to check out the Better Business Bureau logo if it is valid or not. She took one look and said it was valid by simply looking at the site. I swear she thought I was a moron but really she was for not properly verifying the validitity of the site. Sadly most people don’t do that… and it is really quite easy. Infact the Better Business Bureau even has a search right on their site where you can search for the company and see if it really is in good standing with them. It all comes down to this: If a job is TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE .. then it really IS TOO GOOD to be true and isn’t true at all! This job turned out to be a fraud! I never thought I would ever apply for one of THOSE! But I learned that the scammers employ all sorts of tactics and you might think you wouldn’t be caught in one but with the new scams they are coming out with all the time (like if you are selling something online and they are buying your item from other country, they say they will send you more than you are asking simply because they want to …
