This week I have decided to start working towards running a 5K. I downloaded an app that will help me to reach that goal in eight to twelve weeks. I felt so proud afterwards, and I am looking forward to become a real runner.

So far I have lost 8.8 lbs. I am so proud of the work that I have done so far, but I also realize how far I still have to go. In the last couple of weeks I have realized that I made my goals too challenging to be attainable, and so I am adjusting them.
The problem is that they expect to become the best versions of themselves overnight. Given the success rate it's obvious that this is practically impossible.

This year, I too am resolving to change, but I don't expect immediate gratification (although that would be nice). In 2013 I hope to transform myself over 48 weeks by losing 82 pounds. This feat seems so huge and unimaginable, but I know that with the love and support of my friends and family I can accomplish my goal.

Today I am officially starting my diet and exercise regimen at 247 pounds. I will meet my goal in four phases losing 20 pounds every twelve weeks (22 in the first phase), that's less than two pounds each week. By April first I should weigh 225 pounds, 205 pounds by June 24, 185 pounds by September 16, and by December ninth I will have met goal of 165 pounds. I am going to once again start tracking my food and exercise on weight watchers. I would like to ask for each and every one of you to encourage and support me during this journey. Ask me about my struggles, and please share your own. If you see me eating something that seems like a poor choice ask me if it fits into my points allowance for that day, or encourage me to eat something healthier. Encourage me to work out, or ask to go on a walk with me. I would love to be there for anyone else who wants to make a healthier life for themselves.

Each day is going to be a struggle. Sometimes I might get irritated with you for asking me these things, but I will do my beat remember that it's all in love. In the long run having that support is going to make this journey just that much easier. Thank you all for being there for me, and I hope that I can be there for you as well.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

It has been far too long since I have updated here, and I truthfully regret that. The past couple of weeks have been a complete whirlwind, and I have been very busy with this crazy thing called life. Today was my first deadline to reach a weight loss goal. It has been fourteen weeks since I started this journey, and I am very proud to say that I was able to meet my goal. I went to a tattoo shop a few weeks ago and was told that I could get both the tattoo on my neck (my first reward), and the one on my foot (meant to be my second) for $70. I was very excited about that number, however I don't have funds right now, so I will be holding off on getting my tattoos for the time being.

I weighed in today at 219.6 lbs. I'm not so happy with that number, considering that's exactly where I was the last time I posted (over a month ago). In the last two weeks I've gained almost four pounds, which doesn't sound that awful, but knowing that I've set myself back a month it sure feels that way. I guess it could be worse. I'm actually kind of surprised that I didn't gain more weight considering how terribly I have been eating and how inconsistent my workouts have been. I promised myself that today I would get back on track with my "diet", however I didn't quite eat as well as I should have. I did track my food and exercise with Weight Watchers, which I have been neglecting the past few weeks. I have already used almost all of my weekly "bonus" points, but at least I didn't go over. The rest of the week I will have to stay right on target so that I can start losing weight again. As long as I am able to get back on track I should be set up to meet my next goal of 200 pounds by mid August (almost a month ahead of schedule). I don't feel as confident as I have in the past about my journey, but I know that once I get back into the swing of things that will change. I just have to do my best to keep moving forward and keep my faith strong.

Here is a picture of me from today. I'm tanner now, and I have a scar that I don't think will ever go away, but I guess that's okay. Other than that I doubt I look much different than my last post.

Sort Of

It's been about two months since I started my weight loss journey, and I am very proud to say that today I met my first goal (a month early)! Today I weighed in at 219.6 lbs. My current measurements are 15.5 inch arms, 48 inch hips, 41.5 inch bust, 33.5 inch waist, and 29.5 inch thighs. When I started working out I was wearing size 18 in my work pants, and those have been getting very baggy in the booty area, recently I bought the same pants in a size 14! I honestly cannot remember the last time that I was a size 14... I've lost more than twenty pounds so far, and I feel incredible. Everything in my life seems to be so much better, and I know that most of that has to do with confidence I have gained from losing weight. I have never felt this strong emotionally or physically before, and I have never been so happy. I know that this is still just the beginning but I believe that I can accomplish anything.
Oh my goodness! It has been far too long since I have posted! The past couple of days, really this last week has just been a whirlwind. With all of the crazy weather and work I haven't been able to work out in a few days, but I'm planning to get to the gym before work, at least for a little while. Fortunately, even though I haven't worked out much this week my eating has been right on point. When I weighed myself this morning I found that I am now 227 pounds! I've lost 15.4 lbs. and I only have 7 more until I've reached my first goal! I've also lost 5% of my body weight, which is just crazy. I honestly cannot remember the last time that I saw a number on the scale in the 220's and I am so proud of myself. I know that I still have a very long way to go, but it's amazing to be seeing these results. I feel so much stronger, and more confident than I ever have in my life. I feel like I can do anything! My measurements today are 16 inch arms, 48.5 inch hips, 42 inch bust, 34. inch waist, and 30 inch thighs. Since I began tracking my measurements I have lost half an inch in my arms, 3 inches in my hips, once inch on my bust, an inch and a half in my waist, and an inch and a half on my thighs. I have noticed lots of small changes in my body and it just feels so incredible!
I've been looking through some old photos and realizing how different I really do look now. The picture on the left is from my birthday in 2010, and the picture on the right is from last Friday. I guess the difference might not be incredibly significant, but there is a clear difference. I pray that I can continue to stay strong on this journey, and hope that I am able to help inspire other people along the way. Thank you all for your continued support, I love you so much!

Anyways for breakfast I had a quesadilla with two slices of chipotle cheddar and and two slices of turkey on a whole wheat tortilla. On my break at work I had steel cut oatmeal with cinnamon sugar, pecans, and strawberries. After work I had a half greek salad with chicken, a cup of chicken tortilla soup, and an apple. I took an hour and a half long nap because I was so tired. I ended up going to the gym on my own today, but I did have a good work out which was nice. I did half an hour on the elliptical (weight loss training), 100 reps on the inner thigh hip abductor, 100 reps on the overhead press, 100 reps on the vertical chest machine, 50 sit ups, and 20 triceps dips. Afterwards I had dinner with Kylla, Corey, and Heather. We had salad with spring mix, raspberry vinaigrette, sliced almonds, and feta cheese, and baked pesto chicken with whole grain pasta. Everything was really good. I also had a handful of carrots, a wedge of light swiss cheese, and 11 big wheat thins as an after dinner snack. It was really nice to spend some quality time with my great friends, especially when I am feeling so good about myself. I'm looking forward to having the next two days off of work and spending even more time with my friends. I'm trying to take more risks and be very brave about things, even though I'm finding it difficult. Hopefully it pays off in the end...

Day 31

This morning for breakfast I had a parfait with with low fat vanilla yogurt, sunbelt granola, and strawberries. At work a couple of people mentioned that I looked like I'd lost weight and looked good which is always nice. I didn't get a break at work, but after I got off I had a half chopped chicken Cobb, a cup of broccoli cheddar, an apple and a serving of Special K cheddar cracker chips. Around six Kylla and I went to the gym! It was really good to go work out even though I haven't been in over a week. We started on the elliptical for fifteen minutes and then walked/ ran on the treadmill for twenty minutes. The. I did 140 reps on the hip abductor that woks your booty, and 60 on the one that works your inner thighs. Afterwards I did 50 sit ups on the inclined bench. I was really proud of both Kylla and myself. For dinner I had a sandwich with chipotle cheddar, turkey, tapatio, and sour cream on a slice of while grain grilled with olive oil. I also had a raspberry salad with blue cheese, almonds and strawberries. I also had a stick of sugar free strawberry shortcake gum. All around it was a good day, and I'm excited for many more like it.

Day 30
It's been a month since I started my journey and I could not be more proud of myself! Today I weighed in at 232.4 lbs. I have lost ten pounds so far! My measurements are now arms 16 inches, bust 43 inches, waist 35.5 inches, hips 49.5 inches, and thighs 30.5 inches. I know that I still have a really long way to go, but it's great to see all of the little changes in my body and I know now that I can do anything.
For lunch I had a burger with provolone, fat free sour cream, tapatio, and jalapeños on a slice of whole grain bread. Later I made a smoothie with strawberries, peaches, skim milk, fat free sour cream, Truvia, and cinnamon. For dinner I definitely ate too much. I had a large portion of asiago tortellini with spinach and mushrooms, and two slices of whole grain bread with olive oil and garlic. I probably should have eaten about half of what I did. This week I'm only working mornings so hopefully I will have some extra time to work out, because I definitely new tiger back on track with that. Otherwise I'm feeling really confident and excited about the future!

Day 29

Today was good. Not necessarily food-wise, but other than that it was really fun. For breakfast I had a bowl of Honey Bunches of oats with raisins. Then we went bridesmaids dress shopping. I tried on the size 16 and not only did it fit, but it was actually a little loose! For lunch (at Outback), I had a couple of slices of the brown bread with a little butter, a little bit of cheese fries and ranch, a cup of baked potato soup, and a California chicken salad (it had feta and apples). I was very full afterwards. We also went shoe shopping, and to the mall. I got three pairs of shoes (plus the ones for the wedding, which we had to order), and a new purse! For dinner I had a Whataburger plain with cheese, and fries. Then I had half a Panera chocolate chipper cookie. I also had a serving of wheat thins with a wedge of tomato basil and mozzarella cheese. I took a quick nap, and then had to start getting ready because we (Heather, Kylla, and myself) went to see the Hunger Games! At first I wasn't sure if I should go or not because I was so tired, and not in the best mood, but I ended up liking it a lot. I had such a strong emotional connection to the books, and expected to be disappointed but I really felt that they did a good job of capturing its essence. I literally cried throughout the entire movie. After we got home from the movie I ate a serving of wheat thins and a wedge of chipotle and queso fresco cheese. Then I had a serving of Ben & Jerry's FroYo. I didn't eat any popcorn or drink any soda at the movies, which I am quite proud of. I know that I need to work on avoiding the scale except for weigh in days, because it is going to drive me crazy, but I swear it just stares at me when I go into the bathroom and wants me to weigh myself! So I did. And I was very pleased with what I saw! Today I weighed in at 235 lbs! This puts me just a little ahead of my original goals schedule, and it means that I have lost more than seven pounds! It was a great feeling to see that number, and feel strongly that I am forever kissing goodbye the terrible 240's. Today for lunch I had a quesadilla with a slice of provolone, a slice of pepper jack, two slices of turkey, and tapatio on a whole wheat tortilla. I also had steamed broccoli and carrots. A few hours later I had a salad with strawberries, gorgonzola, almonds, romaine, and raspberry walnut vinaigrette. For dinner at work I had a half thai chopped chicken salad, a cup of chicken tortilla soup, and an apple. We ended up being pretty bust at work, because there was a basketball game that we didn't know about. I lost .2 lbs. (I now weigh 238.2) since last week, which isn't great -or nearly as good as I had hoped for- but at least I didn't gain. I also took my measurements, and there was more of an improvement there. Last week my measurements were 16.5 inch arms, 51.5 inch hips, 43 inch bust, 36 inch waist, and 31.5 inch thighs. This week my arms are 16 inches, hips are 50 inches, bust is 42 inches, waist is the same, and thighs are 31 inches. I'm not too excited about my bust being smaller, because it was already small to begin with, but I'm hoping what I lost was only in "back fat" rather than breast size (har har). It was sort of disenchanting to see such a small difference in my weight change, but seeing the difference in my measurements helps me feel that I am still making progress. Again I'm hoping that this week I see more changes in my body, and hope that I can continue to grow stronger. On Sunday we are going bridesmaid dress shopping. Kylla told me that there is a dress at the shop my dress color and size, so I will get to try on the actual dress. I'm hoping that that size (16) actually fits me, considering that both she and Rachael had to go up a dress size when trying on dresses there. Either way, I'm sort of worried about buying this dress now for her wedding in November, considering that I am hoping to be around 40 pounds lighter at that time. I'm sure it will turn out fine, though.

On to today... For breakfast I had a cup of Honey Bunches of oats with 3/4 cup of skim milk and two strawberries. As a snack at work I had a ham and swiss souffle (13 PointsPlus! Not worth it now knowing that.) and a frozen chai (made with half and half, not so healthy). For lunch I had a half fuji apple chicken salad, a cup of chicken tortilla soup, and an apple. For dinner I had breakfast quesadilla, two slices of turkey, a slice of provolone, a slice of pepper jack, two eggs, and tapatio on a whole wheat tortilla. As dessert I had a cup of Sunbelt Bakery granola with 3/4 cup of skim milk. I had planned to go to the gym today, but I was so tired after work that I ended up staying home. I'm really regretting this looking at my points today, because I went over my daily allowance by 25. I'm realizing that I definitely need to track throughout the day so I keep that budget in mind constantly. I'm not working tomorrow, so hopefully I can be really productive. I'm planning on working out first thing, going grocery shopping, and cleaning. I don't feel great about the last few days, but today I did have someone mention that I looked thinner which was great. Hopefully I can stay strong and keep moving forward. I know that my God is with me always, that He loves and supports me in everything that I do, and that with Him anything is possible.

Day 21

Today was a pretty good one, although work was somewhat frustrating. For lunch I had a sandwich with provolone and chicken on asiago fococcia, two pickles slices, and half a grapefruit. This afternoon I went to the Colvin where I did 35 minutes on the treadmill (mostly fast paced walking, and a little bit of running), 100 reps on one hip abductor, 50 on the other, 100 reps on the vertical chest (that's the one whose name I never knew before!), 20 reps on the overhead press, 60 reps on the AbCoaster, and 50 sit ups. I had a quick sandwich before work with two slices of turkey, and provolone on asiago foccacia. For dinner I had another sandwich with provolone and chicken on asiago fococcia, two pickles slices, and half a grapefruit. I also had a salad with romaine, Gorgonzola, almonds, and raspberry walnut vinaigrette. Then I had 16 wheat thins (one serving), and a wedge of Weight Watchers white cheddar cheese. As a dessert of sorts I had a serving of honey bunches of oats with skim milk. I went over my daily allowance by one PointsPlus. I don't feel too badly about that because my workouts will account for that. Even so, I'm nervous about weighing myself tomorrow morning. I know that my eating this week has not been very good, but do feel confident about changes in my body. Hopefully this next week will be better than this one was.

Day 20

I had another bad day. I guess it wasn't as bad as yesterday, but still, it sickens me. I started off well (except for not waking up in the morning). For lunch I had a salad with chicken, almonds, Gorgonzola, romaine, and raspberry walnut vinaigrette. At work I had half a chopped chicken Cobb salad (sans egg as usual), a cup of chicken tortilla soup, and an apple. While I was closing I ate half of a chocolate chip cookie. After work I had a sandwich on asiago focaccia with chicken, and provolone, two pickle slices, Panera kettle chips, and a chocolate chip cookie. That one cookie? Eighteen PointsPlus. Yeah. I feel like such a fatty. The good news is that counting the points I've earned from working out I haven't gone over my allowed points for the week, but there isn't too much wiggle room. I'm going to try to get to the gym tomorrow before work, but I'm afraid it won't be enough. No matter what I'm sure that I won't be seeing the results that I was hoping to see after this week. I am going to try to reel myself in and not binge eat anymore. Indulgence is fine in moderation, I just have to keep moderation in mind. I know that waking up in the morning and eating breakfast is going to help get me back on track as well. I ended up waking up at two o'clock in the afternoon, which is absolutely terrible not only because it's so late, but because it gave me less than an hour to get ready for work. I made myself a quesadilla with pepper jack, provolone, turkey, and tapatio on a whole wheat tortilla, and steamed veggies for lunch. At work I had a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup, half a chopped chicken cobb salad and a baguette. I figured I could afford a larger serving since I would probably be short on points considering my waking up late. This kind of thinking is what I'm finding to be my downfall. After I got home from work I made myself a bowl of dip (Velveeta, Hormel chili with beans, and jalapenos), and instead of having just a little bit with a few tortilla chips, I ate the entire bowl. I know that I need to get myself on a decent sleep schedule soon, and I'm hoping that once Destinee and Emily come back from Spring Break I'll be able to do that since we'll be working out in the mornings again. For lunch today I had a salad with romaine, Gorgonzola, almonds, and light raspberry walnut vinaigrette. Around three I had about a cup of steamed mixed veggies, and a quesadilla with a slice of provolone, pepper jack, two slices of turkey, and tapatio, on a whole wheat tortilla. I went to the Colvin around six and rode the stationary bike on fat burn for 15 minutes. Afterwards I walked/ jogged on the treadmill for half an hours. After that I used the row machine for about ten minutes. I also used the hip abductor and the AbCoaster. I finished my workout by doing sit ups. On my way from the the gym I was starving and decided to splurge on Chipotle for dinner. I told myself that I didn't have to eat all of it, that it could be two or more meals. I bought a chicken burrito (black beans, brown rice, tomatillo salsa, sour cream, lettuce, and cheese), chips and guacamole. I ended up eating all of it. The chips alone were 15 PointsPlus and I ended up using 20 of my weekly extra points just from that one meal! It was really good, but it was definitely too much food. The next time I have Chipotle I plan to pre-portion my food to avoid overeating. I feel like I completely destroyed my good workout with that meal. At least I didn't eat terribly and not work out..

Day 17

Today I had planned to clean and work out. In some ways I feel like I have such a long way to go still, and it's very daunting, but I just have to remember to take it one day at a time.

Day 16

This morning I did not want to wake up at all. I don't know how many times I hit the snooze button, but it was kind of ridiculous. I did get up while it was still morning though, which I guess is better than I have been in the past. I had planned to eat some sort of breakfast once I got up and eat again right before work, but I ended up going to lunch with Kylla, and shopping at Hobby Lobby again. We went to Louie's for lunch. I splurged on a club salad, and it was delicious. It had iceberg lettuce, spring mix, bacon, chicken, turkey, cheese, and tomatoes, with blue cheese dressing. I felt sort of silly spending so many points on a salad, but it was really good and really filling too. Once I got home I had a grapefruit as a snack, but had to start getting ready for work not long afterwards. During my break I had my usual chopped chicken Cobb salad, chicken tortilla soup, and an apple. I actually got a second break tonight since it was so slow. During that break I had a chai tea latte with skim milk. (Obviously) I didn't actually work out today, but again I did move around a lot at work. I'm definitely going to the gym tomorrow, though. I am trying to stay strong so that I can keep making progress. Not only do I feel stronger physically, but I feel like I have a lot more confidence in myself than usual. Hopefully I can use some of that new found confidence to make strides in other areas of my life...
