If there’s anything that could make Friday even sweeter, it’s a good Nordies sale. And we’re in luck, friends – the Half-Yearly Sale is upon us!

I’ve already done a little damage (you may have noticed on my Instagram) and splurged on some new Kate Spade sunnies, but here are some other summer staples I’m drooling over:

The glasses above, which are officially my new favorite thing right now, are on sale in stores only in a super cute tortoise shell/green color. You can see a picture of them here. But I’m totally loving all the bright colors, metallics and fun patterns in the sale accessories and shoes.

a cloudy day in may.

The last set of Anthro markdowns caught me at a moment of weakness. And this tunic was a result of said weakness. It’s one of those pieces I could not. wait. to wear (I’ve had my eye on it for what seems like months), but I knew as soon as it arrived it would probably be 90 degrees out and I would be sweating profusely in it. Sigh.

Luckily, we had a random cloudy day shortly thereafter (yes) and I was able to pull out my boots again. Oh, how I’ve missed them already.

I felt a little funny walking around in boots all day in the middle of May, but I couldn’t help myself – they’re just perfect with tunics! Do you wear boots in the spring or summer? I feel like booties are universally acceptable (staples, even) in warm weather, but I’m not so sure about tall boots. What do you think? Warm-weather boots – yay or nay?

We’re pretty blessed in Orange County to live so close to so many gorgeous beaches. And even though most are only about a 30-minute drive for me, I feel like I never get to visit as often as I’d like. I was pretty lucky the past two weekends to spend some time there with my sister working on a very special (top secret) project we’re working on (that I can’t wait to share with you guys!) and, of course, we took some blog pics too.

It’s definitely felt like summer these past two weeks, so I’ve been breaking out all my favorite summer staples (and a few new favorites, too!). I’m still loving these nautical shorts from Anthro (also seen here), and thought they were just perfect with this old gingham J.Crew shirt.

I try to find a new pair of sandals each summer since I tend to wear them out in one season, and these Madewells are my latest edition. The leather is so soft and, despite doing a lot of walking that day, were pretty comfy, too. What are your summer staples?

friday fave: a beautiful mess.

I don’t know about you, but I’m borderline obsessed with the amazing women that make up A Beautiful Mess. I mean – they have amazing style, make fabulous cocktails, have adorable dogs and take gorg pictures. Oh yeah, and they make stuff, too. I’m suddenly feeling like a tremendous underachiever.

When I first started hearing about their new photo app a couple weeks ago, I couldn’t wait to download it. With their abundant talents, I knew it would be super cute. And I was totally right.

It has filters, borders, doodles, text – even cute little phrases for all your Insta pics. There’s more content that you can buy once in the app for a little more variety, too. I already bought the “dainty” borders pack (I mean how can you resist a bow and a bunting!?).

Have you downloaded the app, yet? For $0.99, I’m pretty sure you won’t regret it (this coming from a person who never buys apps. like ever).

that day I wore red pants.

Remember my style set of these adorbs red Minnies from J.Crew? I’m so excited I bought them, cause I’ve worn the heck out of them over the past few weeks. Here’s my favorite way to style them right now:

I’m such a sucker for all things nautical (we know this), so obviously my first instinct was to offset the bright red with some classic stripes to tone it down a bit.

They’ve been surprisingly much more “wearable” than I expected. And I’ve been loving the extra pop of color on bright sunny days like yesterday.

We were heading out to dinner with my sister and family while taking these pics (yes, that’s her incredibly photogenic backyard) and my neph decided that he was way cuter than my outfit and needed a little camera time.
