There are four short films, rare images and Native-designed artwork by artist Jak Fragua on display. If you’re visiting the museum, make sure you stop by the gallery to see this one. The exhibit runs through July 20.

The museum is a great resource for all things history relating to the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. And it’s in Foxwoods’ back yard, so make a weekend of it!

Lobster Days run May 25-27, 2013.

On May 27, the annual Decoration Day ceremonies honor fallen Civil War soldiers. The Seaport has a number of activities planned from 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. including an observance in the Fishtown Chapel, a memorial service and hymns, a color guard and procession and a visit with the citizens of 1876 Greenmanville about the Civil War.

Paying tribute to soldiers on Memorial Day is the best way to celebrate the holiday, so please make time during your celebration to do so.

Boaters will go to nearby Eagleville to drop their boat, then head to Willimantic to park and register (a bus ride back to your boat is included in the registration fee). Then you get to paddle down the river – seven miles of scenery, the quiet lapping of waves and sounds of water rushing downstream. When you reach your destination, there’s plenty more festivities to keep you occupied – like live music, food and vendors.

This Bridge Street location is also the future home of Whitewater Park. In the spirit of anticipation, the kayak ramp will be back for experienced kayakers to enjoy, and spectators to watch. Tons of fun on tap here next Saturday, so don’t miss it!

And of course, there’s tons of good food in the area, so when you’ve worked up an appetite, take a walk down Main Street for some sustenance – the Willimantic Brewing Company and Main St. Cafe, for example, which has ice cold beer and yummy dishes.

The museum, created in 1994, is an evolving project focused on education and history of glassmaking in the state from the 1700s through present day. Exhibits are housed in the Capt. John Turner house, and a second building is slated for education and activities. Guests are invited to take a tour of the Turner House and future museum, free with show admission, at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., or 1:00 p.m. Refreshments available for sale.

If you’re in town this weekend, check it out. It’s not far from our Quiet Corner, either, so it’s easy to make a day out of it.

Our region loves this party, which has food, music, people, live performers and local artists. Downtown Willimantic has culture, history and diversity to spare, and it attracts a plethora of people, tastes, smells and sounds. There are seven stages set up along the route, and there are performances and dancing all evening long. More than 100 vendors are here to showcase their wares, and children’s activities abound.

It’s a very cool place to hang out, and once you’re tired of walking around, have a seat at the Willimantic Brewing Company and Main St. Cafe and enjoy some homemade beer, of visit Cafemantic for a cup of java.

And, if you have time, ask someone about the frogs decorating the town. You won’t be disappointed! (Yes, that’s a teaser!)

Nearly 50 of the city’s best eateries and specialty shops old and new will participate – check out the list on the website. As you’re strolling, stop in the downtown shops. Many will offer discounts, promotions and demos all evening. There’ll be live music, crowds, tastes and smells galore. Buy your button now – the last one sold out fast!

The stroll happens from 5:30-8:30 p.m. You can buy buttons on the website or at the Garde Arts Center.

This is also a chance to do good – a lot of organizations are fund-raising with their sales, so it’s a win-win!

There will also be a Used Book & Tag Sale from 7 until noon, held by the Friends of the Pomfret Public Library. Choose from current fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, biographies and mystery/suspense.

And while you’re here, spend some time getting to know our town – we have a winery, shops & galleries, nature and hiking trails and much more.

You’ll find it all here – art, food, wine, theater, shopping, antiques. This is a celebration of all we have to offer in this not-so-Quiet-Corner. Visit one of our art galleries, get a deal at one of our boutiques, eat, drink, eat again. There will be live entertainment, demos and performances galore. The Bradley Playhouse lives here too, so make sure you check out their schedule if you’re coming to town.

First, there are still a couple of days left to take advantage of The Dinosaur Place’s Earth Week Celebration in Montville. Hands-on activities and entertainment daily are on the agenda, including Animal Adventures on Thursday and Disc Dogs on Friday. Regular admission charge, extra events are free.

On the big day itself, visit New England Science & Sailing in Stonington. Touch tank, face painting and lots more for the kids to do that teach kids about Fishers Island Sound. Free admission.
