Okay, first page of this week. I actually finished it last night but it was too late to post it since I had to go to work early this morning. Anyway here it is, the artwork isn't anything spectacular because there was lots of explaining that needed doing. Also, another change in font. Heh, I like this one, it's much more 'comic book' looking which I personally think is cool. It's also easier to read I think. Opinions?

Wow, sorry for the long break between pages. I've just started my new job, and things were a little busy. Yeah, excuses excuses, right? Anyway, finally the page is up, and the story is progressing. Yay! From now on I'll really return to doing two updates a week. Promise. I think this page came out okay. I'm experimenting with using tones for shading instead of just inking in the shadows like I usually do. What do you think?

So, here's the page I promised before I leave for vacation. I think it came out really well. For some reasonLuna's face in the 5th panel took me forever to draw, but I think it looks great. Still playing with a little bit of a different style for hereyes and I changed the hair a tiny bit. I like how it looks. Okay that's all for now, I'm off to the beach soon! Yay, a little bit of an early update for once! I'm leaving on vacation for Okinawa in two days. I'll be relaxing on the beach and hopefully enjoying some scuba diving too, for about 4 days. I'm pretty excited about it. So what I'm planning on doing for the comic is finishing up the next page early again, and posting it up before I leave. So there won't be an update next Tuesday but there will have been 3 this week. Then when I return next Wednesday, I'll try to get back to the usual schedule. I still won't have internet at home though, so I'll do the best I can. That's all for now, enjoy the page! -Dash

Well, new page is up. Sorry for the wait. As I said on the forums, my life is in a big flux period as I am moving apartments and jobs simultaneously. I was also distracted by free MMOs but I finally got my stuff together and am back (and hopefully I will stay on track). As far as the actual page itself, I'm pretty pleased with the way it came out. I used a bunch of sound effects and experimented more with the focus lines in the second and last panel. I'll update the definitions as soon as I get some free time. That big, first panel took me a really long time to draw. I was trying really hard to keep my lines straighter and cleaner so I hope you all enjoy it. My personal favorite panel is the fourth one. (I also really like drawing eye-popping faces. It's fun). Well that's all I guess, nothing else to report really.

Okay, here we go, second page of the flashback, and finally a little bit of Luna character development and some more of Sol's antics, which of course can only end badly. I think this page might be my favorite so far. Sol's facial expressions were really fun to draw, and I had a good time drawing Rick too. I also decided to experiment with a different font. I like the "goofier" look of this one. I think it fits the style of the manga more than the old one.

Well, this is the first page of Sol's flashback. The market took me forever to draw but I think it came out okay in the end. The hardest part was actually figuring out how to get the gradation around the edges right, since I thought it would look better than just a straight black to white. In the end, I think it came out all right. Nothing else to report.

I like this page. I really like the close up on Sol's face with him drooling all over the place. I giggled to myself while drawing it. Actually, even though I've had a brief encounter with animating a walk cycle, the three panel walking part was pretty difficult to get his pose just right. I wanted it to be natural, but also to show that he's still pissed off. While he's not exactly stomping like a 2 year old throwing a temper tantrum, he's not just going for a stroll down the road to pick up some hot dogs either. He's out to beat someone's face in. Anyway, I think it came out well, but that might be because I've been staring at it for so long. Another thing I'd like to draw your attention to are the three slim panels and the fade to black behind them on the bottom left corner of the page. The paneling and gradient are both techniques used fairly commonly in Japanese manga. The slim panels by themselves indicate the passing of time. However, when the background is fading to black, then they indicate that what is to follow will be a flashback to some past event. So remember kids, when the page behind the panels is black, its a flashback! (woo rhyming!) Over all, this was one of the more fun pages to draw. -Dash

Welcome to Seiki-Jutsu, a Webcomic drawn in the style of Japanese Manga. To keep with the flavor of Japanese comics, I've decided to draw all of the sound effects in Japanese, but fear not all you non-Japanese speakers out there, all of those sound effects are documented and easy to access with English translations, so you'll always know what's going on!
