I would imagine Gokujyo being worst LOLS oh wells, never started, never will ;D I'm already watching like... 20 different series O_O

Highschool DxD was the biggest cringe fest I swear~ You've got my favourite voice actor Hikasa Yoko voicing the red head chick so I couldn't knock it off without trying it.... oh boy was I wrong to try it.... I really am disappointed with whoever it is that's giving her all these shit rolls!!! ARH!! Dx At least she's in Inu Boku <3 <3 <3

Papa no lukoto o kikinasai...... the funny thing is, some hate it, some like it, some say weird things about it, some put thoughts that completely don't make sense with the stuff I've found throughout the net. I was so confused as to whether or not I should pick it up again but I decided to trust my instincts and thanks for the insight Vivi ;D You have trotted into no man's land and taken the blows for me. I salute to you ^^

Yeah, they seem to like making Yomi and Mato the yuri couple for fans xD

I guess it can get boring at times during the school but when we get twists like at Yomi's house then that's when it gets interesting ;D Hopefully the school will also hold some twists in it for you sake Fosh ^^

I never liked dolls... and Kagari is freaky ><"

Animation and action were great! I loved that they went with CGI for the other world because it fits quite well, but I am not 100% sure if I am fully on board with it quite yet. I will give the credit they have put a lot of effort into this series! While the real world is typical anime and boy do they make it seem that Mato has the hots for Yomi? What is with all the yuri this season? Rinne no Lagrange, Mouretsu pirates and now BRS...there are few more out there.

My only complaint towards the series and OVA were the moments in the school...seriously I don't really care about the high school draamaaaa of the girls, sure it is nice to have but good god..make it stop! I want to see BRS fighting the others. However I know why they have to include the real world just so we can grow attached to X character and feel a connection to them.

On the bright side! Hanazawa Kana as Mato <3

Wheelchair girl OMG OMG OMG CREEEPYYYY ASS CHILD...Sheesh what did Mato ever do to her? I guess she is trying to steal Yomi away? At least we know who wears the pants around her house xDD

waving the *Those who liked the OVA and now the TV* flag!

I admit that I had my misgivings about TV, and I do some, but I loved it! There were things in the first episode that many me like it more than the OVA and also it almost felt like thw whole OVA was fit into this one episode! Well, at least I had as much thoughts on it as I did on the OVA!

Very much like Chariot's role in this and can't wait for future episodes.

I tell you, it feels great to find others who like the TV!

Cheers

Hey! You don't know me, but I've been watching Hourou Musuko recently, and I turned up your blog while searching for French scanlations of the manga. Just wanted to offer some belated compliments on a lovely review of a show that I'm really, really enjoying at the moment. I'm truly happy that I live in a day and age when a gentle, sympathetic piece of media about gender queer kids can achieve relatively mainstream popularity, and touch people who have never been in a position to directly sympathise with the main characters. It shows we're moving forward in how we treat and perceive these issues. :)

Also, you mentioned that you can't really comment on how accurate the portrayal of the transgendered kids is in the show. Well I *am* transgendered, and in my opinion it is staggeringly accurate. To the point where the manga made me so emotional that I eventually had to drop it, and each episode of the anime I watch reduces me to tears. I'd also argue that the author not exploring the transgender theme particularly deeply is very much intentional. Some transgendered kids are bold, brave and together enough to stand up at the age of four or five and scream "I'm supposed to be a boy / girl" until people start taking notice. But most of us have only confusion, doubt, fear of rejection, and the persistent feeling that something has never been quite right. Even nowadays, most schools offer virtually zero education on transgendered people in sex education classes. And the image we get of trans women from the media is hardly flattering (and it's arguably even worse for trans men, being that the mass media seems to pretend they don't exist full stop). Suffice to say we don't exactly go through adolescence with the most concrete sense of identity, nor often even the most basic ability to articulate the way we feel about these things.

In short, most transgendered kids of the age of Hourou Musuko's characters aren't busy being poster kids for LGBT movements of debating gender identity. Mostly we just sort of... gradually muddle along trying to live our lives as best we can, trying to be like other kids, trying to cope with our feelings of self-loathing and longing, and trying to work out what we are and what that means. With that in mind, the show gets a very big +1 from me for its portrayal of transgender kids at that age. By putting the subject matter in the background at times and not placing things down in completely concrete terms, it allows its two leads to simply be kids who are transgendered rather than transgendered kids. And by doing that, it captures better than anything I've seen before what it was like for me growing up. :)

Anyway, bit of a ramble there. Kudos again on your review!

Regarding Ririchiyo's twin, I really want them to introduce and dig in depth with how the two sisters view each other and the pains they both go through in the future. It'd be a waste to just tell us there's a twin and she's sad then leave it like that xD So hopefully we get to see more of her because I'm sure there's much more to their relationship and how it relates back to the household.

The father slapping Ririchiyo is obviously not a good thing though what I felt is that the father was showing emotions for Ririchiyo's twin mostly yet as a father, I'm sure he's also under the burden of ignoring his other daughters existence which would hurt any parent. There's so much regarding this issue that if it's not addressed, I would feel really disappointed with Inu X Boku. Maybe there will be a time Ririchiyo will be called back to her household and she'll see her sister? Anything could happen ^^

The slapping incident seemed excessive and cruel. Why would you do that to your daughter unless there was some other reason for the emotion behind it? I've been wondering if there isn't something more to the situation with the sister. Is there something tragic about her that Ririchiyo isn't aware of?
