Getting Breezy With Sun Surf & Star of Hollywood

Nothing is boring when you're wearing a shirt that makes you smile every time you put it on. That's the idea behind a lot of the shirts we get at Self Edge during the spring and summer seasons. For the winter you have flannels, heavy shirts, and jackets, things to keep you warm and comfortable during travel or for every day use. For the spring and summer we shed those heavy shirts for things that scream sunshine.

We've just received the Sun Surf and Star of Hollywood collections, both these labels are produced by Toyo of Sugar Cane, Mister Freedom, & Buzz Rickson fame.

The hottest shirt we had in 2011 was a three-quarter sleeve oxford that was printed with swaying palm trees and hula girls, we had no idea people would go crazy over this thing. We begged Toyo to redo this shirt all year and so they've made a new run for this season.

Along with these 3/4 sleeve shirts we've received some amazing polo shirts from Star of Hollywood. Try a polo, you'd be surprised how well it would fit into your wardrobe if you've been buying from Self Edge in the past. Just remember the three rules to the polo shirt. Never wear anything underneath a polo, never wear anything on top of a polo, and most importantly, never tuck a polo shirt into your pants.

Also from Sun Surf we've received some loopwheeled hoodies and shorts made of some of the softest brushed fabric you've ever felt, complete with your recommended daily allowance of fruit.

Lastly we've got something that i'm not even sure what to make of, oddly enough it sold so fast in-store that we've got only a few left for the online store, it's the Sun Surf Supima Cotton French Terry Zip Sweat.

We've just received a couple of awesome new Iron Heart shirts with a special fabric that has a sparkle to it in the sunlight. It was difficult to photograph these to properly show off the fabric. This new Iron Heart shirt is available in black and red.

We've also received a new loopwheeled t-shirt with a great print on the front and back with a black cotton body. Along with the new tee and shirts we've received a new run of the 634s-B Overdyed Straight Leg Jean which is only done about once every year or two.

Self Edge Zippo Vintage Reproduction Lighters

We've worked directly with Zippo to put our artwork on a couple of classic Zippo windproof lighters. Started in 1932 in Pennsylvania Zippo is known for it's iconic flip-top windproof lighters. They're all still made in Pennsylvania in the original factory and still come with a lifetime warranty.

One of our favorite Zippo designs is their 1937 flip-top windproof lighter. They took the 1935 version and rounded the edges to make it more comfortable in your hand and added the iconic double slashes on two opposite corners. Our design engraved on the front is a nod to the fact that what is known today as a "coin pocket" was once known as a "watch pocket".

Next up is an exact reproduction of Zippo's flip-top lighter from 1941. In 1941 they made the case look more slim by having flat planes with sharper and less rounded edges where the front and back surfaces meet the sides. The lid and bottom case are joined by a four barrel hinge which they eventually changed to a five barrel hinge after the 1950's. The inside of the bottom of the case is flatter with squared edges where the front and back surfaces meet the sides. So many details on something so simple and functional.

Loads of new items are coming into all three of our stores from every brand we carry, here are a few highlights.

3sixteen
From 3sixteen we've received a new leather belt made of a heavy 13oz leather which is sure to age beautifully over time with normal wear. The buckle is made of 100% nickel and the belt is made in the USA. The new 3sixteen belt is available now in black, brown, or tan. Along with these belts all stores have received a full restock of all jeans and leather bracelets.

Self Edge
If you don't like subletely in your belt choice we've got something for you too. The new Self Edge x HTC Stingray Inlay Peanut Belt just came in and it's awesome, you know you love it. It takes a few minutes for it to sink in, then it all makes sense.
Along with this belt we've designed a new sterling silver bracelet, the Double Crossed Feather Bracelet is carved, not cast and looks great on men and women. Along with these two new items we also just got a restock of the American Optical Sunglasses in both Blasted Black and Blasted Burgundy.

Iron Heart
From Iron Heart all stores have received full restocks of the 666-XHS 25oz Denim Slim Cut jean along with the Beatle Buster in their signature 21oz indigo denim. These both moved very quickly during their first release. Along with these two jeans we've received full restocks of all Iron Heart belts, jackets, vests, and the 634s, 461, and 9634 jeans.

Mister Freedom
This week the story wild guys from Mister Freedom have released our favorite MFSC shirt of the year by the name of Calico Madder Prairie. We love the fabric on this shirt, it's a slight departure from the past shirts we've seen from Mister Freedom. Along with this shirt all stores have received a restock of the Desert Jumper Sack Coat in both Sand and Indigo colors.

We've just received the new Stevenson spring collection including what we think is our pièce de résistance for the spring season.

First off we have one of the most beautiful items we've ever had at Self Edge, the Stevenson Indigo Dyed Knit Hoodie. This is a hoodie which is made of 100% natural indigo dyed cotton yarns which have been hank dyed. Hank dying is a slow process which is an older method of dying yarns than modern machine rope dying. This style of dying results in a far deeper indigo shade.
Due to the natural indigo dyed cotton this hoodie with age and lighten over time like a pair of jeans, but in a far more "soft" manner. We think this hoodie is one of the most impressive pieces we're getting at our stores for the entire Spring delivery period. This thing is super comfortable and beautiful in both details and feel.

Next up is the Oblique Half-Sleeve Indigo Dyed Shirt. This is great half-sleeve summer shirt that will fade and age over time due to the pure indigo dyed yarns that make up the gingham pattern. We love the combination of the front chest pocket design with the lack of a front yoke, it's simple, sophisticated, and a staff favorite.

Lastly, we have the Red Check Open Shirt which is one of the most sought after shirts in Japan that Stevenson does every year in a different fabric. A 100% cotton summer-weight fabric and cut straight across the bottom to be worn untucked, this is an awesome summer shirt.

Roy's Jeans & The Cone Mills Video - Straight & Narrow Fits

A couple of months ago at the end of January we took a trip to Greensboro (North Carolina) with Roy Slaper to experience the production process of a new denim that was designed from the ground up by Roy himself. We took Kellen Dengler, our videographer from NYC, with us to shoot the process, we felt it wasn't fair to keep it under wraps. At the oldest denim mill in the world, this is the story of Roy's new fabric.
This video was shot in 1080p High Definition, it's best viewed in full-screen HD mode with the volume turned way up.

Roy is back with his first denim jean release since 2011. This long overdue set of jeans is made up of a custom fabric from Cone Mills made exactly to Roy's specs. This is the first time in over three decades that Cone has produced a loomstate unsanforized fabric for anybody, and therefore we feel that this is history in the making.

The denim is a loomstate unsanforized indigo denim that clocks in at 14.5oz per square yard in it's raw state. The denim is made of American cotton and is 100% pure indigo dyed in the darkest shade Cone produces.
Technically, the construction of the denim.. the warp has multiple sized (engineered) slub yarns and the weft has large rough spun (non-engineered) yarn. It weighs 14.5 in loomstate and approximately 16.25oz after a hot water soak. Roy broke three of his key machines on this run and had to improve them to deal with the heavier denim.
The fabric hand is smooth and tight. Roy had Cone pack as many picks per inch (46 in 6.4 gauge yarn) as could be done without the loom blowing out and therefore achieved the tight weave he was after. There is a sound to the denim, after its been worn a few weeks - when you rustle it, that's somewhere between suede and oil cloth. This is tough fabric.
The look is streaky and it appears grey-ish at first. After rinsing and a few weeks of wear, it starts to change character as the white hairs formed by the fill yarns wear off leaving the streakiness to mellow and the shade to become a more rich, classic indigo.

The jeans themselves come in two fits, both a slim and a straight leg. Both silhouettes are slightly modified from past iterations of Roy's straight and slim fits.

Never content with just "doing another run", Roy has improved and tweaked everything surrounding the production of these jeans. The stitching of the body is even finer and more accurate and we love the fully lined back pockets and coin pocket. The rear pocket hems now have a hand-done welt in them (slightly thicker than the last run), mimicking the vintage style belt-loops found on many of the best Japanese brands. Last but not least the back pockets have been slightly reduced in size from past versions.

Jeans from Roy don't come often and we can't keep them in stock as long as we'd like, so if you've been waiting for a pair, now is the time.

We've received a few new pieces from the Spring & Summer collection of Stevenson Overall Co. along with some new belts, glasses, and more.

American Optical Glasses
We've gotten our hands on a limited number of dead-stock American Optical glasses. These are one of the most unique and well built pair of glasses you can buy at this price. We start with a pair of dead-stock American Optical glasses, then they're dyed black in a black pigment dye bath. Once the dye has set they're sandblasted to give them a unique matte look.
Then they're washed to remove any debris and the old plastic lenses are discarded and replaced with dead-stock real glass lenses which are fully UV protective lenses. They come in a custom leather case made by Zip's Irregular brand in Los Angeles.
Once the stock of these dead-stock frames runs out they'll be gone for good. These can be found at all Self Edge stores now and in our online store under the Self Edge brand.

HTC Belts
We had Zip Stevenson from HTC make us a custom make-up of their famous studded belts, super rock n' roll. It's based on a hand-dyed black leather belt fully made in Los Angeles. These come in four sizes and are available now at all Self Edge stores and in our online store under the Self Edge brand.

Stevenson
From Stevenson we've received three new items from their Spring and Summer collection. There is a really awesome reversible Cadet Jacket with a great flipping zipper with minimal branding, a Double-Duty Workshirt made of a custom fabric that has a very cool feel to it, and a casual Imperial Jacket.

3sixteen
We just got the craziest restock of 3sixteen jeans, last restock for a while. These are the best jean you can get at this price. The fabric is impressive in both it's shade and feel, the inside is soft while the outside feels rigid and dark.

Spring is around the corner and we're getting in new items on a weekly basis, if you're local to one of our stores drop in and check out what's new.

3sixteen+
We've got an awesome new jean from 3sixteen+ made of a left hand twill denim produced by Kuroki Mills in Okayama Japan. The fabric has a really interested deep indigo shade to it and a great hand once soaked. The jean was cut and sewn in America and comes with hidden rivets, a well tanned leather patch, and a great straight leg fit. Due to the limited amount of the fabric these were made in a small run of 100 pairs and won't be restocked.

Iron Heart
We launched a new collaboration with Iron Heart last week, it's moving quickly at all of our stores, check them out online or come into a store to try a pair on. Along with the collaboration we got a full restock of the 666 Devil's Fit and a new indigo bandana. All stores have also gotten full restocks of all regular model jeans. The bandanas will be in the online store on February 25th and the next 301s restock is April 1st.

Real Japan Blues
RJB is still one of our favorite brands when it comes to fit and fabric. We just received some new shirts from their Spring/Summer collection along with some hot argyle socks. Along with these shirts and sock we got the rest of the run of the 103BSP and 106BSP jeans, these are all available now at all three Self Edge stores and in our online store.

Flat Head
From Flat Head we've received a full restock of all their jeans including the SE05BSP, 3009 (F380), Women's Balder jean, and the last of the SEXFHXRJB15 jeans. Along with these jean restocks we got a great new polo shirt, polos are in again, at least we think so (as long as you promise not to tuck them in).

Imperial
Imperial has decided to move the production of their two most popular jeans to Japan. The Duke (indigo) and Shearer (indigo) jeans are now fully produced in Japan. What this means is a higher level of construction with new features such as rolled belt loops, hidden rivets, and chainstitched hems. The denim is still a 14.25oz Japanese selvedge fabric and the fits on both have been slightly modified. Check the online store for an updated size chart and spec list. We've also got a few more of the SEXI14 jeans in both indigo and black. All these jeans are available now at all Self Edge stores and in our online store.

Sugar Cane
A full restock of all Sugar Cane jeans is hitting all stores on Monday, February 27.

Mister Freedom
The spring collection starts shipping to stores March 10th, in the meantime we've gotten a full restock of the Troy Deck Jacket and the Mulholland Master in both colors at Self Edge New York.

Dry Bones
All three stores have just received a full restock of the Red-D Slim jeans from Dry Bones, there are a few more pairs coming into SESF and online on Saturday, February 25th. We also got a fill in of sizes of the Dry Bones Award Jacket, available now at all three stores and in our online store.

Strike Gold
All stores have received a full restock of all four Strike Gold jean models and we've received their highly anticipated loopwheeled blank hoodies, we feel these are the ultimate hoodie. If you're size is sold out online you can call SELA for a phone order, we received our shipment there this week.

Self Edge x Iron Heart x Leather Soul x Alden = SEXIHXLSXA13

For the first time we've come together with another retail store to collaborate on a product. We've come together with Leather Soul to design a set of jeans and boots from two of our favorite brands which compliment each other in both design and fit.
We've done a pair of jeans from Iron Heart using a new denim designed for this project and a pair of boots from Alden available in two colors.

The Iron Heart jeans are a classic 5-pocket jean with a medium rise and a straight leg with a slight taper that's flattering above the knee all the way up the back, also there's very little taper so the jean looks great with boots. The jean is completely stitched together with dark indigo thread, so while being a 5-pocket jean made of an indigo denim it's easily dressed up because of the lack of contrast stitching. For the jean we had Iron Heart produce us the darkest denim they've made that's still indigo (blue) colored in a new 23oz weight, the denim is sanforized and therefore even due to it's heavy weight, it's still comfortable.
This jean looks and feels amazing in person, Iron Heart nailed every aspect of the jean that we had requested to have made for us. The denim warp threads are so saturated with indigo dye that it's looking like a jean that will look amazing with some wear due to how the fabric will age over time.

The boots are designed to be versatile in both comfort and utility but also are able to be dressed up or down easily due to the detail, leather, and sole choice.
The Alden boot has a "faux" cap toe, a style Leather Soul has named the "conservation boot." This style was made in the 1940's when leather was scarce due to rationing and wartime shortages. Instead of a traditional cap toe, this "faux" cap toe style was used to give the look of a cap toe without using extra leather and the stitching is done by hand.
The boot is made on Alden's Trubalance last, has a tan Goodyear rubber wedge sole, and is available in black regina calf leather or Horween natural Chromexcel.

The Alden boots are available at Leather Soul Waikiki and Leather Soul Beverly Hills starting Saturday, February 18th. Orders via email are accepted by emailing Leather Soul through their website.

The Iron Heart jeans will go on sale at all Self Edge stores at noon (local time) on Saturday, February 18th. The jeans will also go on sale at 9am (PST) the same day in our online store.

We're now well into 2012 and not showing any signs of slowing down. We've just received restocks and new items from a few brands with lots of new garments to look forward to this year.

Iron Heart
From Iron Heart we've received a full restock of all their jeans, belts, jackets, wallets, and bracelets. All the stores are fully stocked, get heavy with it.

Flat Head
Flat Head has sent us a full restock of all jeans including a rerun of their women's Balder jean made specifically for us. Along with these restocks we've gotten a restock of a few of their more popular shirts, belts, and a new hoodie and bracelet. The hoodie is super heavy and warm with a great pattern on the top half and the bracelet is the last leather bracelet you'll ever need.

Strike Gold!
From Strike Gold we've received the highly anticipated hoodies and a full restock of all their jeans and belts. We can barely keep these things in stock, they're making them as fast we're going through them. The hoodie is available now at SESF and online, coming to SENY and SELA on February 6th.

Sugar Cane
We've gotten a full restock of all jeans from Sugar Cane including their popular 2009 fit which is a slightly slimmed down jean compared to the rest of their line-up.

Real Japan Blues
Real Japan Blues has finished a new run of the 103BSP and 106BSP jeans, these are available again at all three Self Edge stores and in our online store. These are made of a new denim, the same denim found on the SEXFHXRJB15 jean, 14oz unsanforized indigo denim which ages great over time and was developed by RJB to mimic the fading characteristics on Flat Head's 3xxx denim with a slightly different feel.

ROY
We have a few sizes left of Roy's last release, his jeans continue to sell out very quickly. If you don't see your size online you may call SELA or SENY for a phone order. The next Roy release is a denim jacket, his take on a hybrid between a few classic styles, should be hitting all stores late February in very small numbers. Next jean release is March 15th with a new video we shot with Roy this week in Greensboro (North Carolina) debuting right before the jeans.

Self Edge x Toyo Enterprises = SEXT17 - The Stealth Jungle Cloth Pant

Two years ago we released a collaboration with Toyo Enterprises which ended up being one of the most popular Self Edge exclusive products we'd done. We're revisiting the idea of the jungle cloth fabric and have stepped up the hardware a bit and made it in black fabric this time.

Self Edge and Toyo Enterprises have come together to bring the ultimate pant in terms of hardware, details, and fit. Jungle Cloth fabric, hidden rivets, Sugar Cane pin-check pocket bags, red cotton twill inner leg seam lining, dark indigo poly-core stitch, iron embossed buttons, Buzz Rickson UFO rivets, and a slim fit round out this new release produced in a limited run.

We've seen quite a few khaki fabric pants enter the market over the past few years, we wanted to do our version in a slim cut. A version that is not only extremely comfortable but uses a fabric far more interesting, more durable, more versatile, and more comfortable than a khaki fabric. Jungle Cloth is exactly that.

The SEXT17 is made of a black garment dyed "Jungle Cloth" (100% cotton gros-grain). Used by the USN from the 1920's to 1950's, this fabric has amazing sturdiness and is also weatherproof and comfortable to wear. It was loomed to USN specs by Toyo's (Sugar Cane, Buzz Rickson, Mister Freedom) fabric mills in Japan.

Jungle cloth is a very durable fabric that far outlasts any khaki (fabric, not color) on the market, also due to it's gros-grain weave the fabric is weatherproof and extremely soft on one side, the inside of the pant. The inside feels like pressed cashmere while the outside is a smooth and slick canvas so any dirt or contaminants are easily brushed off.

The SEXT17 Jungle Cloth Pant wil go on sale at all Self Edge stores at noon (local time) on Saturday, January 7th. The pants will also go on sale at 9am (PST) the same day in our online store. Even though the holidays are over we're still moving full steam ahead with new products and restocks rolling into all three stores on an almost daily basis.

Real Japan Blues
Real Japan Blues has finished a new run of the 103BSP and 106BSP jeans, these are available again at all three Self Edge stores and in our online store. These are made of a new denim, the same denim found on the SEXFHXRJB15 jean, 14oz unsanforized indigo denim which ages great over time and was developed by RJB to mimic the fading characteristics on Flat Head's 3xxx denim with a slightly different feel.

3sixteen+
From 3sixteen+ we've received a new run of the 21BSP slim cut jean made up of an unsanforized 18oz denim made specifically for this series of jeans. For the second run of this jean the fit is a bit slimmer through the legs and it's a bit more tapered. A great value when the quality of fabric and construction is taken into consideration.

Stevenson Overall Co.
We got Stevenson Overall Co. to do another run of the silk skull-caps for us, these things are soft to the touch, extremely warm, and woven on vintage shuttle looms. These are available again in navy or gray.

Iron Heart
From Iron Heart we've received more shirts and a full restock of all their jeans currently in production along with the Beatle Buster, 301s, overdyed 634s-B, 634s, and the new 634-RAW jean.

Strike Gold!
Strike Gold has sent us a full restock of all four jeans models along with their belts and a small restock of their Game Changing loopwheeled crewneck sweaters. Self Edge LA has also received a restock of their flannel shirts.

Sugar Cane
Sugar Cane has sent us a full restock of all their jeans including the popular 2009 cut. Watch out for the Self Edge x Toyo Black Jungle Cloth pant coming to all stores on January 7th.

Dry Bones
The wacked out guys at Dry Bones have delivered their new winter collection in the form of a few new shirts and a woven melton wool award jacket. Along with these new pieces all stores have received a restock of the Red-D slim jeans, the dual-prong belt, and all eyewear.

Flat Head
From Flat Head we've gotten in their heavy winter flannels in multiple colors along with some restocks of their past shirts. At SENY we received woven skull caps too. All stores have received a few jean model restocks from Flat Head, a bigger and more complete restock is hitting stores next week.

Kawatako Leathers
Next week we'll be receiving a big restock from Kawatako with belts, wallets, keyhooks, and camera cases.

3sixteen
From 3sixteen we're getting weekly restocks of every jean we stock from them along with the leather bracelets, we try and stock them as fast as possible so if your size is missing we should be getting it back in within days. These things are selling faster than they can produce them.

Lowside Mag
We got both issue 05 and 06 of Lowside Magazine back in stock for all you grease-monkeys.

Yellow Rat
Last but not least, we've filled in all of the missing sizes of all seven Yellow Rat tops we have in store, this is the last restock on these items.

Rock Out This Winter With Dry Bones

Fresh from the cold winter days of Tokyo comes four new pieces from Dry Bones along with a restock of their Red-D jeans and Dual-Prong Belts.

First up we have a beautiful melton wool Award Jacket with a quilted interior. Custom oversized cat-eye buttons and a great thick ribbing makes this a stellar winter jacket that's comfortable and warm.

Next up we've received two button down shirts. One is a micro-cord shirt with a woven jacquard fabric as the front yoke. Dry Bones has been doing this exact repro for almost twenty years, every year a different color. It just so happens that very recently a high-end Japanese brand has become very popular producing these exact shirts, I guess when you make something for long enough it'll be hip at least once during your lifetime. The next shirt is a 100% cotton flannel with red Bakelite-like buttons, the pattern on this shirt pops.

Last up is a jacquard loom woven sweater made of an acrylic/wool/nylon blend which is crazy soft on the inside and outside. The Fair Isle pattern looks great with the colors they've used on this sweater.

Every year Iron Heart does a new batch of heavy weight shirts for the colder months, this year they've gone up a step by offering a wider range of shirts. We've received four shirts from them this week, three of which are great for keeping warm.

First we have the Blanket Lined 8oz Denim Overshirt, it's an early 1970's style lighter shade of denim that's cotton flannel lined with the the original Troy blanket lining pattern dyed into the flannel. The sleeves are also quilted with satin for warmth and comfort. The shirt has hand-pockets and two snap-buttoned chest pockets. We love this thing and couldn't wait to get it into the stores when we first saw the samples in Tokyo.

Next up we've got two heavy flannel shirts in solid colors, both with hand pockets and two buttoned chest pockets. This shirt is available in both black and navy.

Finally we've received Iron Heart's take on a wabash fabric shirt. They start with an indigo dyed cotton yarn that's later discharge printed with the dots to create the wabash pattern. This shirt fits great and has a nice heft to it without being bulky or uncomfortable.

All four of these shirts along with a restock of the Beatle Buster, 301s, 634s, and all other Iron Heart jeans, jackets, vests, belts, bracelets, and cordovan mid-length wallets is available now at all three Self Edge stores and in our online store. After barely being able to keep 3sixteen's jeans in stock for well over a year now we've received a large shipment which (hopefully) should be enough for everybody waiting to get a pair.

Almost every brand we carry has just delivered a bulk of their winter collections. Here are some of our favorite pieces...

Stevenson Overall Co.
Stevenson Overall Co. has delivered two jackets, one made of a red wool and the other made of a navy jungle cloth. Both jackets are tailored to fit slim with high cut armholes with a very flattering silhouette. The little details like the button-down chin strap on the Wool Booster Jacket and the great deep indigo color on the garment dyed Aviator jacket make these two standout pieces.
In about two weeks we'll also have a full restock of their indigo dyed silk watch caps.

Iron Heart
From Iron Heart we've received a full restock of all their jeans including the 301s and all belts and jackets. Along with these restocks we've gotten in their new Smoky Check Flannels, their new 2011 Ombre shirts, more Micro-Cord Shirts, and their Mock-Twist shirts in black and red. Check the online store December 7th for their new solid heavy weight flannel overshirts and their newly developed wabash shirt.

Flat Head & Real Japan Blues
From Flat Head and Real Japan Blues we've received their new winter flannel shirts along with a new cordovan hand-sewn wallet. Along with the shirts and wallet we've received a full restock of Flat Head jeans, wallets, and virgin merino wool scarves.

Strike Gold!
We got new shirts, sweaters, and a jean restock from Strike Gold but it all sold so quickly we were barely able to show them off at the stores. We're getting more of it all at all stores on December 10th.

Mister Freedom
Mister Freedom has hit us with both his new version of the Californian jean and the hotly anticipated Denim Ranch Jacket. Christophe Loiron has completely reinvented the denim jacket here with details sure to please even the most critical vintage collector.

Kawatako Leathers
From Kawatako we've gotten a long overdue full restock of all their belts, wallets, key-hooks, and camera cases. Along with this restock we've gotten a few new wallets and even a new white leather long wallet designed for women. For the price you cannot get a better leather wallet than what's coming out of this crew.

Yellow Rat
Yellow Rat brings two new shirts to their line-up including an awesome navy button down shirt inspired by late 60's Southern California surfers. Along with the new shirts we've received a restock of their Vintage Flavor gray hoodie.

Sugar Cane
Sugar Cane has sent us a full restock of all their jeans and we've finally received a full restock of their 2009 cut. Another (bigger) restock is hitting all stores in a few days.

Roy
The one-man-show simply known as Roy is currently laboring away at a batch of jeans made of an unsanforized Cone Mills fabric which he says is "the best domestic fabric" he's worked with yet. Tentative release date on these is December 21st.

Strike Gold Loopwheeled Crewneck Sweaters, Denim Shirts, & Winter Flannels

Strike Gold is back with more for their winter collection.

We've found the ultimate loopwheeled crewneck sweater. A sweater that is a true loopwheeled fabric, flatlock seam stitched throughout, kitten soft exterior and interior, a beautiful fit, and great detailing that's only noticed by those who've studied the art of the loopwheeled sweater. We know this all sounds like a bit much, but once you see these in person you'll know, there's something very special about them that sets them apart from the rest.

They've also done a very small run of of a rope-dyed denim shirt that's got a great vibrant indigo color that's slightly red-cast. Due to the super saturated color of the indigo it's sure to age well with wear.

Along with these sweaters and denim shirt we've received two new flannels in great vibrant colors, both available in traditional open-top pen-pocket designs.

With these sweaters and shirts we've received a full restock of all four of their jean models along with their popular cod-oil soaked waterproof leather belts. So thick it'll satisfy even the heartiest of hungers if stuck on a deserted island.

Introducing Yellow Rat - Vintage Style American Casual Wear - Made in the USA

We'd like to introduce you to a new brand in our line-up by the name of Yellow Rat. Started in 2007 by world renowned Japanese surfer Kio Inagaki with the intention to reproduce lost styles of American casual wear.

The Yellow Rat line is produced in the USA from fabrics and hardware from both Japan and the USA. This line has made it's rounds in the vintage clothing and rockabilly scene for years and we're happy to finally give it some play in cities which it's never been sold before. The details and fits are very good and the prices are reasonable for garments which reproduce details we've never seen on basics such as fleece hoodies and zip-up track jackets.

We consider Yellow Rat to be a Japanese company as the people behind it are Japanese born, yet the line is operated out of Mar Vista California, on the coast directly west of central Los Angeles.

We're launching Yellow Rat with two crewneck sweaters, a zip hoodie, a striped zippered jacket, and two gingham button-down shirts. Check out the items in our online store for details on each garment.

Roy Black 'n Blue Indigo Dyed Canvas Jeans

Roy Slaper has finished up a new set of 5-Pocket pants made of an indigo dyed 12oz cotton canvas.

Roy wanted a slim-straight cut super dark pant that wore in with extreme fading properties. He chose this Cone (White Oak) indigo dyed canvas due to how it ages over time, it almost ages like an indigo dyed denim which was produced with massive loom-chatter, yet at the same time this fabric looks quite even when new. One of the most labor intensive garment Roy has produced yet, these indigo dyed canvas pants are a final level of flavorful. From the seashell fly stitch to the psychotically assembled pocket bags these are best viewed completely inside out.
From the outside they're built like a diesel truck and from the inside they're more like a peacock.

Roy suggests soaking these in room temperature water for 10 to 20 minutes and allowing them to air dry before wearing just to get the starch out (for comfort). Not doing this will not hurt the jean necessarily and will yield more contrast in the wear due to the way the fabric will react to wear while still starched.

Considering the time it takes to produce these and the fact that every jean is produced by one man from start to finish restocks or new models do not come often, but when they do, they're worth the wait.

Sunny Sports is a brand which we've been carrying at Self Edge NY for over a year now and have decided to bring it into all three of our stores. The new fall collection is available now in our online store and at all Self Edge stores.

From Flat Head and Real Japan Blues we've received some new shirts including a restock of the very popular Winter Heavy Flannel shirt in blue and a very nice new Virgin Merino Wool scarf available in three colors. Along with these new items is a full restock of every jean model from Flat Head including their belts, wallets, and card cases.

We've gotten a restock of all Iron Heart jeans, belts, and jackets at all three Self Edge stores. Along with these we've gotten a few new IH shirts from their Winter collection. The 301s jean restock is coming in mid-November.

Issue number five of Inventory Magazine is now available complete with a feature article about Flat Head with the interview done by SELA's Tyler Madden. These sell quick and there are no reprints so grab one soon.

We've started carrying one of our favorite motorcycle mini-mags by the name of Lowside. The two most recent issues are available now at all three Self Edge stores and in our online store.

From Strike Gold we've received a full restock of all their jeans and belts including the long awaited restock of the 2105 Mud-Dyed Weft jeans.

Mister Freedom Fall Collection - American Sportswear & Apache

Mister Freedom, the brand where every garment is worth a thousand words, has just released their new Fall/Winter collection.

We start two NOS chambray shirts which are made of a deadstock slubby chambray fabric which has been cut and sewn in America with production overseen by Christophe Loiron himself. The shirts have custom painted metal buttons and some very functional and original pocket designs. This shirt is available in both blue and red.

Next up is sure hit winner for us... The Le Paletot jacket is made of a 100% cotton moleskin which was custom woven for Mister Freedom in Japan with leather accents and a cotton stripe lining. We absolutely love the fit and details on this thing, it's classic Mister Freedom styling and they nailed every aspect of it. The Le Paletot jacket is available in both black and cream colored moleskin.
