It is used to boost overall immunity and vitality. ST 36 is known as one of the most important points to tonify Qi and Blood and promote general wellness.
It is also called "Leg Three Miles" because it is said that if you are so tired you can no longer walk, if you stimulate this point you will be able to walk another three miles.

Location: Four finger widths below the kneecap, one finger width to the outside of the shinbone. If you are on the correct spot, a muscle should flex as you move your foot up and down.

To locate ST 36 find the bump on your bone about one inch below the knee. This bump is called the tibial tuberosity.

Benefits of applying acupressure on St 36 for healing:

It is the most effective point to rejuvenate the ch'i and blood. It strengthens the whole body, especially the immune system; tones the muscles and aids digestion as well as relieves fatigue.

It is particularly useful in children or adults with poor digestion, which can often be the root cause of chronic illnesses such as ear infections.

This is the 36th point on the stomach meridian. It balances the digestion power of the body. This point can prevent diabetes.

It can prevent aging and weakness for which it is commonly used in China.

The functions of this point include aiding in nearly all digestive and weakness issues, building the "wei-qi" which is the loose equivalent to our immunity to colds/flus and other infections, the strengthening of our blood (a strong part of our overall immunity).

It also helps in curing problems with the breasts (distention, lactation), pain in the lower leg, aids the lungs in conditions such as asthma and wheezing, and serves to balance a range of psychological issues such as depression and anxiety.

This point can also be used to treat tonsils, rheumatism, appendicitis, fatigue, headache etc.

This point is very effective for stomach distress but more importantly for this post, it is also beneficial to strengthen the whole body and tone muscles in your legs.

To reduce menstrual cramps: you should first gently examine ST 36 area. If the muscles there are tight, then pressing deeply and strongly with your thumb will help reduce the cramping and pain.

The combination of Li 11 and St 36 is used extensively to treat hypertension. Excess sitting can damage the stomach and spleen meridians, which can contribute to anemia or digestive disorders. Stimulate the St 36 on the outsides of your calves to benefit these meridians.

How to Apply Pressure?

Apply moderate to firm pressure on St 36. Hold the pressure for one minute. This point can also be stimulated either with the heel of your opposite foot, or with your fingers. Place your right heel on the Three Mile point (St 36) of your left leg and briskly rub it up and down on the outside of your shinbone, just below your knee. After one minute, do the same on the other side.

Don’t forget to drink water at the end of your exercise session or any time you begin to feel thirsty.
Caution: If you have or have had problems with your kidneys, please consult your physician.
Acupressure point CV 17 is called 'sea of tranquility' because it has an ability to quiet agitation and promote relaxation.

Acupressure point CV 17 is considered to be the best point to relieve anxiety and stress, especially to stop a panic attack before it has a chance to escalate.

Other names: The Sea of Tranquility, Conception Vessel 17, Chest Hall, Upper Sea of Qi, etc. "Chest Center" (dan Zhong) is named after it's location in the center of the chest.

Location: On the center of the breastbone three thumb widths up from the base of the bone.

Benefits: This magical point quiets emotional upset and deepens breathing, which promotes relaxation. And because of its location on a primary meridian that runs down the center of the body, it also balances the levels of yin (quiet, reflective) and yang (energetic, action-oriented) energies of the body and brings your emotional and physical selves back in to equilibrium.

It helps to get relief from post-traumatic stress disorder. Emotional stress can damage the small intestine and heart meridians, which can create emotional imbalances. CV 17 is an excellent point for balancing these meridians.

Relieves anxiety, anguish, nervousness, and depression; boosts the immune system and regulates the thymus gland.
Good for Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Depression, hormonal imbalances, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts, trauma, fear, recovering from a injury or surgery and much more.

It is a remarkable calming point which works in just a couple of minutes, and with practice can balance your emotions and alleviate hundreds of health disorders.

How to apply acupressure therapy?

An effective way to work with the this acu-point is to lightly place the middle fingertip directly on the point while allowing your index and ring fingertips to rest gently just above and below the point next to the middle finger. Try the gentle placement of your fingertips on the area of the Sea of Tranquility along with a few slow gentle breaths in and out, and see if this brings you into a calmer state.

You can also try gently tapping on the area with your fingertips. Working gently with it may be helpful in falling asleep at night, reducing stress while at work, and at any time when you need a gentle reminder to restore calm.

In prayer pose: Keep your hands in pray position with your spine straight, supported by a straight back chair. Close your eyes gently. Inhale, as your head slightly comes upward. Exhale slowly as you head relaxes downward.

Deep breathing during meditation heightens your senses and makes you more aware of your feelings. Holding the acupressure point known as CV 17 while you do slow, deep breathing in and out of your nose will regulate the amount of air you assimilate and is an excellent technique for calming anxiety and nervousness.

Continue this healing movement breathing meditation for two or three minutes to discover the benefits. Practice this twice a day to reduce stress.

You need to keep-up this practice for a few months to see substantial health condition changes.

Caution: This acupressure information is not a substitution for qualified medical advice. If you’re unsure of the source of anxiety, pain or other symptoms, you may be best served to consult a medical doctor before you start treating yourself.
Question may arise 'Is is possible to improve memory at any age?' Yes, it is possible! scientific research results say that most of us can sharpen our minds with proven, do-it-yourself strategies.

The human brain has an astonishing ability to adapt and change—even into old age. This ability is known as neuroplasticity. With the right stimulation, your brain can form new neural pathways, alter existing connections, and adapt and react in ever-changing ways.

The brain’s incredible ability to reshape itself holds true when it comes to learning and memory. You can harness the natural power of neuroplasticity to increase your cognitive abilities, enhance your ability to learn new information, and improve your memory.

10 research-proven tips for a better memory

Here are some ways to boost your ability to remember as you age.

1. Believe in yourself.

Myths about aging can contribute to a failing memory. Middle-aged and older learners do worse on memory tasks when exposed to negative stereotypes about aging and memory, and better if exposed to messages about memory preservation into old age.

2. Economize your brain use.

Take advantage of calendars and planners, maps, shopping lists, file folders, and address books to keep routine information accessible. Designate a place at home for your glasses, keys, and other items you use frequently.

3. Organize your thoughts.

New information that’s broken into smaller chunks, such as the hyphenated sections of a phone or social security number, is easier to remember than a single long list, such as financial account numbers or the name of everyone in a classroom.

4. Use all your senses.

The more senses you use when you learn something, the more of your brain will be involved in retaining the memory. For example, odors are famous for conjuring memories from the distant past, especially those with strong emotional content, such as visits to a cookie-baking grandparent.

5. Expand your brain.

Widen the brain regions involved in learning by reading aloud, drawing a picture, or writing down the information you want to learn (even if you never look back at your notes). Just forming a visual image of something makes it easier to remember and understand; it forces you to make the information more precise.

6. Repeat after me.

When you want to remember something you have just heard or thought about, repeat it out loud. For example, if you’ve just been told someone’s name, use it when you speak with him or her: “So John, where did you meet Camille?”

7. Space it out.

Instead of repeating something many times in a short period, as if you were cramming for an exam, re-study the essentials after increasingly longer periods of time — once an hour, then every few hours, then every day. Spacing out periods of study is particularly valuable when you are trying to master complicated information.

8. Make a mnemonic.

Mnemonic devices are creative ways to remember lists. They can take the form of acronyms — such as the classic “Every good boy does fine,” to remember the musical notes E, G, B, D, and F on the lines of the treble clef. For older learners, a particularly helpful system is a story mnemonic — that is, a brief narrative in which each item cues you to remember the next one.

9. Challenge yourself.

Engaging in activities that require you to concentrate and tax your memory will help you maintain skills as you age. Discuss books, do crossword puzzles, try new recipes, travel, and undertake projects or hobbies that require skills you aren’t familiar or comfortable with.

10. Take a course.

Memory-improvement courses are becoming more common. Choose one run by health professionals or experts in psychology or cognitive rehabilitation. Stay away from courses that center on computer or concentration games, which generally won’t help you with real-life memory problems. Select a course that focuses on practical ways to manage everyday.

How auricular therapy works?

Auricular therapy is not simply ear reflexology, which uses acupressure to unblock the energy meridians of the body. Rather, ear acupressure stimulates the nerve connections between the ear and the central nervous system.

Applying pressure to the correct points on the external ear triggers nerve impulses from the ear to the brain, thereby communicating powerful healing messages to the organ or system in which the health problem manifests.

Upon receiving the ear’s recommendations, the brain releases pain-relieving protein molecules called endorphins into the blood stream, soothing chronic pain and discomfort quickly and with no side effects.

Since the outer ear is a microsystem that connects to every part of the human body, auriculotherapy relieves a wide variety of health problems. Virtually all health conditions can be improved to some degree by stimulating the ear points.

Auricular acupressure points are the same as acupuncture points. Difference between acupressure and acupuncture, is that in acupuncture needles are used to apply pressure on specific points but in acupressure pressure therapy is applied through pressure of fingers or tools.

Auricular Acupuncture:

Auricular Acupuncture is widely used throughout the United Kingdom to treat people with a variety of conditions. It forms the basis of a number of protocols used in the treatment of Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Insomnia and Pain Management. It is also commonly known for the treatment of smoking cessation, weight loss, substance misuse, and alcohol cessation, and has been growing steadily since the 1970’s.

One of the significant advantages of Auricular Acupuncture treatment is that it is complementary to conventional acupuncture treatments.

Auricular Acupuncture whilst originally based upon the ancient Chinese practice of acupuncture, has its origins in Modern Europe. It was developed by Dr. Paul Nogier, a neurologist from Lyons in France in 1957.He noticed the correspondence of specific parts of the body to the ear based upon the concept of an inverted foetus. Dr. Nogier believed that pain and other symptoms in the body could be alleviated by needling, massaging or electronically stimulating the corresponding region of the ear.

There are over 200 acupuncture points on the ear, each point named after an area of our anatomy. The outer ear acts like a switchboard to the brain. Each acupuncture point being treated, triggers electrical impulses from the ear via the brain, to the specific part of the body being treated. Clinical Reports demonstrate that acupuncture

• Stimulates the production of pain modulators
• Regulates blood pressure
• Regulates seratonin
• Regulates the sympathetic nervous system
• Enhances the immune system
• Reduces the allergic response

Excessive use of carbonated beverages, sports drinks and fruit drinks can impact bone health, oral health and lead to obesity in young people.
Moderate use of soft drink may not be harmful for humans but we are becoming addict to soda consumption which are called soft drinks.

Is coke or related brand are harmful for us?
Read some interesting facts about coke and decide yourself if you want to continue soda consumption or not?

"The United States ranks first among countries in soft drink consumption.
Many studies show that "Soft drink consumption in children poses a significant risk factor for impaired calcification of growing bones." Soft drink consumption may be a major factor for osteoporosis as they are high in phosphates but contain virtually no calcium. This leads to lower calcium levels and higher phosphate levels in the blood.

Interesting Facts About Coke

In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident. (Unproven, however, it is reasonable to assume that it's true since phosphoric acid can dissolve rust and grease and was used by the steel industry to clean products.)

To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. Source: www.howtocleananything.com, the popular household hint guru Mary Ellen says some coke in the toilet for an hour can do the trick.

The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China. Source: Columnist Heloise

To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola. (Source: According to Joey Greene's )

To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion. This is true of a lot of carbonated beverages.

To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.(Source:www.howtocleananything.com, the popular household hint guru Mary Ellen)

To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. (Source: www.howtocleananything.com, the popular household hint guru Mary Ellen)

Coke will also clean road haze from your windshield. (Unproven, however, it is reasonable to assume that it's true since phosphoric acid can dissolve rust and grease and was used by the steel industry to clean products.)

The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days (Unproven). Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis (Source: UC Davis Health System).

To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials. (Source: Truth or Fiction web site - "My husband and I drive the big rigs and often carried Pepsi products...and it is true of all soda in the concentrated form...YES we did have to put the hazardous placards up for the load. Also the driver has to have passed the hazardous material test and have that on his CDL's (Commercial Driver's License)"

The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years! (Unproven, but according to the Science is Fun site sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Chemistry Professor, Bassam Z. Shakhashiri, the steel industry has used phosphoric acid to clean and rust-proof products.)

Now the question is, would you like a coke or a glass of water?

:

The phosphoric acid present in soft drink competes with the hydrochloric acid of the stomach and affects its functions. When the stomach becomes ineffective, food remains undigested causing indigestion, gassing or bloating.

Kidneys are less able to excrete phosphoric acid when it is in excess. Thus, there is extra work for the kidneys.

Soft drinks remove Calcium from the body, causing an excess amount of Calcium that tends to be deposited in the kidney, resulting in kidney stones. Drinking too much soda (approximately five cans a day according to a USDA research study) has been shown to upset the body's calcium/phosphorus ratio. Under these circumstances, the body attempts to maintain balance by drawing calcium from bone. Over time, bones can become fragile and more susceptible to fractures.

Acidic blood affects the action of glutathione, which is an antioxidant enzyme.

Phosphoric acid, present in carbonated drinks de-oxidizes blood. In detergent manufacturing industries, phosphoric acid is used to produce water softener. Water softener removes Ca²+ and Mg²+ ion from hard water. In human body, the function remains the same by removing Ca²+ from bones causing osteoporosis.

According to a report published at 'Science Daily':Consuming two or more soft drinks per week increased the risk of developing pancreatic cancer by nearly twofold compared to individuals who did not consume soft drinks, according to a report in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.

This article helps you learn some basic eye contact netiquettes and tips for success in business or at your work space.

Body Language is therefore very relevant to management and leadership, and to all aspects of work and business where communications can be seen and physically observed among people.
To improve body language and begin to project an open presence, the key is eye contact.

Tips to use eye contact body language effectively in business:

By using direct eye contact when interacting with others one can change the way people view them. When people begin to speak directly into a person’s eyes they are seen as confident, trustworthy, and skilled.

Maintaining eye contact when talking (or listening) to someone gives an impression that you/they are confident and honest. Making little eye contact can say that the other person doesn’t like you, is nervous or shy, or perhaps believe that they are higher in status and think that eye contact isn’t necessary.

Looking someone in the eye as you meet and talk with him/her also shows you are paying attention. Listening is the most important human relations skill, and good eye contact plays a large part in conveying our interest in others.

Someone looking at you non-stop is stressful and in these situations you should throw your hands around a bit more or point to brochures and objects to distract them.

Staring is basically seen as an aggressive act and can also be interpreted as being unbalanced.

If talking to people outdoors, avoid wearing sunglasses as this can be very uncomfortable for the other person and can give an image of trying to hide your identity (a shifty salesman, for example). In addition, try to blink as less as possible as this can make it difficult for the other person to understand you (due to being distracted). Blinking less also gives an image of confidence.

When to look
Begin as soon as you engage someone in a conversation. However, you may wish to start even earlier if you are trying to get someone's attention. Continue it throughout the conversation.

Be sure to maintain direct eye contact as you are saying "good-bye." It will help leave a positive, powerful lasting impression.

Where to look
Imagine an inverted triangle in your face with the base of it just above your eyes. The other two sides descend from it and come to a point between your nose and your lips. That's the suggested area to "look at" during business conversations. Socially, the point of the triangle drops to include the chin and neck areas. When people look you "up and down," it's probably more than business or a casual social situation they have in mind!

How long to look?: it should be about 80 - 90 percent of the time. Less than that can be interpreted as discomfort, evasiveness, lack of confidence or boredom. When you stare longer, it can be construed as being too direct, dominant or forceful and make the other person uncomfortable. It's okay to glance down occasionally as long as your gaze returns quickly to the other person.
Avoid looking over the other person's shoulders as if you were seeking out someone more interesting to talk with.
try to recognize other people’s body language. By doing so, it could mean that they are/aren’t interested or that they feel threatened by your presence: in which case you can change your body language to make them feel more at ease
Our eyes are a vital aspect of our body language.

Eye Contact is a part of communication, but it has multiple purposes that will increase your ability to have deep, respectful and meaningful connection and conversation with other. You can change your body language to show empathy and to influence someone by slowing down your movements or taking away any unintended aggressive body language of your own. Same way you can learn the importance of learning eye contact skills for self improvement and success.

Our reactions to other people's eyes - movement, focus, expression, etc - and their reactions to our eyes - contribute greatly to mutual assessment and understanding, consciously and unconsciously.

With no words at all, massive feeling can be conveyed in a single glance.

The metaphor which describes the eyes of two lovers meeting across a crowded room is not only found in old romantic movies. It's based on scientific fact - the strong powers of non-verbal communications.

Street traders know the importance of the eyes when using their selling skills to keep their potential buyers interested. When you are aroused or interested in an object your pupils will dilate and this is a big cue for salesmen all over the world.
Also when you are interested in someone sexually your pupils will dilate and you hold the person’s gaze a little longer than normal.

We will use eye contact every day of our lives so it makes sense to learn the best ways to use your eyes to your advantage.

Certain situations demand different uses of the eyes. For example if your are arguing it is seen as strong if you can hold your gaze. If you are deferring to someone it is better to lower your eyes, if you are loving someone it is good to stare into the pool of the eyes.

It's vital that you know how to act when you get to a conference, after-hours, meeting or trade show to make the most effective and efficient use of your time ... and to attract those people whom you want to do with business with and add to your network. You may save time and effort with specific messages delivered by eye and facial expression by learning body language -eye contact.

Importance of eye contact:

1) Eye Contact Indicates That You Are Listening: Anyone who is a good listener understands that eye contact is very important to prove that you are listening, especially when it doesn't feel right to say any verbal or to balance out the amount of verbal responses you are giving to the person since a good listener will listen 80% of time and only talk 20% of the time.

2) Eye Contact Indicates That You Both Like Each Other: Most people seek to be liked by others and want reassurance that they are liked. Eye contact is a wonderful way to feel liked by other person.

3) Signs of Trustworthy: Another common impression that people may get of the other person if they are shifty-eyed or looking away is that they are not trust-worthy, avoiding eye contact may be an indication that they are guilty or ashamed of something.

4) Respect Each Other: If both of your are taking the time to have eye contact, it also indicates that both of you respect each other enough to look right into each other's eyes and have chosen to focus on you versus someone else.
Looking you in the eye also indicates that they have confidence in themselves, are self-assured and have high self esteem. If they feel that about themselves, then chances are they will believe you are confident in yourself since you are matching their gaze as well.
Eye contact can maintain, yield, deny and request communication between people.

The way a person looks at someone reveals a lot about what they really feel – and the intensity and direction of their stare can reflect a person’s thoughts.

Few Body language rules regarding eye contact:

-Glancing for a prolonged period of time, intermittently but repetitively: shows sexual attraction, lust if in the distance

interest in the conversation if face to face while one of you is talking

Staring hard without interruption at all

invasive and threatening (usually accompanied by small pupils)
- Gazing up and down shows: appraisal of sexual attraction – this is true for both men and women, though women are usually more discreet!
- Avoiding gaze: could be lying, or feeling guilty or uncomfortable about the subject discussed. If they are looking away after a long gaze, it could just mean they are “taking a rest”, or distancing themselves from the subject.
- Gazing regularly: positive, inviting attitude – open to communicate with you

Blinking
- Prolonged blinking (as if blinking in slow motion): losing interest (or feeling very sleepy! )
- often accompanied by a raised eyebrow. To maintain your influence, change the conversation quickly or ask a question to get them to refocus.
- Excessive blinking: showing romantic interest (if their pupils are dilated), sign of stress, could be lying
- Rolling the eyes upwards: disagreement (or exasperation if very obvious). It you spot this signal better to stop and ask for their opinion… and listen to them!

Some important do’s and do not’s of eye contact:

If you have trouble staring someone in the eye, simply focus at something on their face

When speaking to a group look at everyone

Look at people who are key decision makers or hold power

Look at reactive listeners

Don’t look at the floor, scripts or anything that causes you to tilt your head away form the receiver

Don’t look at bad listeners that may distract you

Tip: The easiest way to maintain eye contact naturally is to look at the person’s whole face above the tip of their nose. Look at the bridge of their nose, cheek bones, forehead, hair.

People who use eye contact are viewed as confident, credible and having nothing to hide.

You may use body language to make you appear more confident, powerful, trusting, etc depending on what the situation may require from you. If you give off negative signs, then it could be the difference of achieving your goal e.g. a successful presentation, proposing an idea in a meeting, discussing a task with an employee etc.
Auriculotherapy is thought to be 7 times more powerful than other methods used for smoking cessation; a single auriculotherapy treatment has been shown to reduce smoking from 20 or more cigarettes a day down to 3 to 5 a day.

Acupressure is state-of-the-art therapy for the treatment of over 350 diseases, and is clinically recognized by the World Health Organization and approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

One of the core principles of this healing technology is that the outer portion of the ear (i.e., the auricle) is a microsystem that represents every part of the human body. In other words, every point of the outer ear corresponds to, and is associated with, a specific part of the human anatomy.

Whereas general body acupuncture addresses health problems by working on the energy meridians of the body, auriculotherapy is based on nerve connections (in the human nervous system) and offers specific localized treatment for the organs or systems involved in the health problem.

'Acupressure diet' suggests these two acupoints:

There are two acupressure points "stomach" and "mouth" in the ear. If those are stimulated, work of the stomach becomes normal and luxury goods like tobacco will become wanting less. It may be hard to keep quitting smoking for one week after quitting smoking. To get through the one week, stimulate the acupressure points in the ear by hands when you want to come to smoke.

Stomach: The acupressure point for the stomach is located around the tip of the cartilage that crosses the hole top of an ear.
Mouth: The acupressure point for the mouth is located a little inside the one for the stomach.
Stimulation method: Stimulate each acupressure points with the back (side which is not sharp) of a fingertip or a toothpick. If you want to come to smoke, please push and rub the acupressure points.

How is the auricular therapy administered?
While professional auriculotherapists may employ a small electronic pulse to stimulate the point, this is not the only method. Pressure, as in acupressure, can be used, such as finger pressure, or a blunt probe, like the end of a match stick, is all that is required to administer auriculotherapy treatment. Pressure may also be applied by using the forefinger and thumb, on any given point.

The point is pressed for between 30 to 60 seconds. The norm is 30 seconds per point. To know that the auriculotherapy is being effective, the ear being treated should turn reddish in color and develop a warm sensation upon being treated.

Date is one of those miracle foods which helps flush out toxins, lubricates and cushions your joints, helps relieve congestion and keeps your body in balance.

Health benefits of dates have made them the best nourishment for muscles development.
Dates are the fruits grow on the palm tree belonging to the family of Arecaceae of the genus: Phoenix and scientifically named as Phoenix dactylifera. The tree is believed to have originated in the lands around the banks of Nile and Euphrates rivers.
Date palm is now extensively cultivated for its edible fruit in warmer climates across all the continents.

Dates are rich in minerals like calcium, manganese, copper, and magnesium. Calcium is an important mineral that is an essential constituent of bone and teeth, and required by the body for muscle contraction, blood clotting, and nerve impulse conduction. Manganese is used by the body as a co-factor for the antioxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase. Copper is required in the production of red blood cells. Magnesium is essential for bone growth.
The fruit has adequate levels of B-complex group of vitamins as well as vitamin K. It contains very good amounts of pyridoxine (vitamin B-6), niacin, pantothenic acid, and riboflavin. These vitamins are acting as cofactors help body metabolize carbohydrates, protein, and fats. Vitamin K is essential for many coagulant factors in the blood as well as in bone metabolism.

Health benefits of dates:

Wonderfully delicious, dates are one of the most popular fruits with an impressive list of essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals, required for normal growth, development and overall well-being.

Fresh date is made of soft, easily digestible flesh with simple sugars like fructose and dextrose that when eaten replenishes energy and revitalizes the body instantly; thus, for these qualities, dates are being used to breakfast during Ramadan months.

The fruit is rich in dietary fiber, which prevents dietary LDL cholesterol absorption in the gut. It is also a good bulk laxative. The fiber content helps to protect the colon mucous membrane by decreasing exposure time and as well as binding to cancer causing chemicals in the colon.

They contain many health benefitting flavonoid polyphenolic antioxidants known as tannins. Tannins are known to have anti-infective, anti-inflammatory, and anti-hemorrhagic (prevent easy bleeding tendencies) properties.

They are a good source of Vitamin-A (contains 149 IU per 100 g), which is known to have antioxidant properties and is essential for vision. Vitamin A also required maintaining healthy mucus membranes and skin. Consumption of natural fruits rich in vitamin A is known to help to protect from lung and oral cavity cancers.

The fruit is very rich in antioxidant flavonoids such as beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin. These antioxidants have the ability to help protect cells and other structures in the body from oxygen free radicals and thereby found to be protective against colon, prostate, breast, endometrial, lung, and pancreatic cancers.
Zeaxanthin, an important dietary carotenoid selectively absorbed into the retinal macula lutea where it is thought to provide antioxidant and protective light-filtering functions; thus it offers protection against age related macular degeneration, especially in elderly populations.

Dates are an excellent source of iron, contains 0.90 mg/100 g of fruits (about 11% of RDI). Iron, being a component of hemoglobin inside the red blood cells, determines the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood.

In addition, They are good in potassium. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that help controlling heart rate and blood pressure; thus offers protection against stroke and coronary heart diseases.

According to the modern medicine survey, it is known that dates are useful in preventing abdominal cancer.

It is a psychological state of mind, nervousness is characterized by a feeling of restlessness, apprehension and worry. At times, it helps in completing a task much more efficiently. However, excessive nervousness is harmful and may cause physical, emotional, psychological as well as cognitive impairment in a person.

According to Mehrabian, 55 percent of our communication is done through body language, 38 percent is done through tone of voice and 7 percent is done through our words. Our body language exhibits far more information about how we feel than it is possible to articulate verbally. Our body movement includes the heads, eyes, shoulders, lips, eyebrows, neck, legs, arms, fingers, orientation, hands and gestures. Together these pieces can convey if we’re comfortable, unhappy, friendly, anxious, nervous and many other messages.

You should be aware of your body movements as it can help you hide your nervousness at occasions when you should look confident. With the right information and a little practice, we can train ourselves to overcome most of our negative body language habits.

Learning body language isn't something you can master overnight, but you can learn a few basic rules to help you.

Signals conveyed by nervous people include:

Their fists are clenched.

Their hands or feet are tapping.

The bottom edges between the fingers of one hand are clenched with

the bottom edges between the fingers of the other hand. This is the position of the hands when praying.

Hands are interlocked (flesh between thumb and index finger of one hand joined with flesh between thumb and index finger of another hand) and pressing each other.

They speak in a high-pitched, fast-paced, stuttering voice

They whistle to conceal and fight their nervousness.

They are often clearing their throat.

One hand is clutching the other hand, wrist, arm, or elbow.

Their arms are at the back, where one hand is pressing the wrist or arm.

Their arms are crossed, but they are gripping their biceps.

Their legs are crossed while standing.

They have a wilted handshake, palms pointing upwards.

Their eyes evade you.

Their ankles are locked or glued to each other. When accompanied by clenched fists, this may indicate that they are holding back strong emotions or feelings.

How to hide signs of nervousness?

Being totally relaxed

Relaxed shoulder

Relaxed movements

Relaxed thinking

Slower movements (Slow down all your movements to at least half speed)

Nervousness can be felt in your voice, so slow down your rate of speech (Not slow motion, but rather a speed that shows you are in no hurry to get your point across)
In 1957, Dr. Paul Nogier, a well known French Neuro-surgeon, made a careful study of the ear and its relationship to the rest of the body and developed this “Auricular Therapy”.

The ear contains more than 120 acupoints that correspond to various parts of the body. Traditional Chinese medicine teaches that all major meridians, or energy pathways in the body, pass through the ear, making auricular acupressure effective in treating a variety of ailments throughout the body.

It is perhaps the most effective and accessible alternative treatment for reducing pain, lowering blood pressure, shedding unwanted pounds, alleviating insomnia, and correcting alcohol and drug addiction, to name just a few of the ailments this age-old technique relieves.

Ear acupressure was first advanced by Chinese acupuncturists in 500 BC and documented in the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine. But it was French doctor, Paul Nogier, who pioneered modern Auriculotherapy as a complete healing system in the 1950s.

Dr. Nogier sought to explain the connection between ear acupoints and their effects on
the body with his apt scientific metaphor of the ear as the micro-imitation of the human bodily system, comparing the shape of the ear to an inverted fetus.

Benefits:
Auriculotherapy is not simply ear reflexology, which uses acupressure to unblock the energy meridians of the body.

A 2003 study by the University of Vienna in Austria found that patients who received ear acupressure during ambulance transport reported decreased pain and anxiety. A study conducted by the New Mexico State University in 2006 used auricular acupressure in addition to regular substance abuse treatment. Patients who received ear acupressure showed a significant reduction in cravings and emotional stress. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, auricular acupressure may help improve sleep quality and alleviate insomnia. Pressure points in the ear that relate to the stomach may help control the appetite and help with weight-loss efforts.

How to locate the ear acupressure point?

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, in most cases heart palpitations are not serious and can be controlled by taking steps to lower stress levels and managing strong emotions. The website claims that practicing deep breathing and/or relaxation techniques, yoga or tai chi can all help to reduce the frequency and severity of heart palpitations.

Palpitations Treatment with acupressure therapy:

Acupressure therapy can be applied to get relief from palpitation. Acupressure can be very helpful for palpitations, but it's not for everyone. If your palpitations are part of a serious disease, acupressure may aid in healing, but it should not be your sole remedy. It may also be inappropriate if you suffer blood pressure problems, arteriosclerosis or bacterial infections.
Acupressure offers only symptomatic relief to angina and palpitations. Sit comfortably or lie down, close your eyes and breath
deeply when massaging the active points.

Main difference between two therapies is that Trigger point therapy deals with applying pressure on muscle tissues for pain management and related dysfunction in body while acupressure therapy can be used as a diagnose tool as well as getting prevention and cure many mild to serious diseases. This article helps you learn about both therapies and what the difference between them is.

What is acupressure therapy?

Acupressure is a way of accessing and releasing blocked or congested energy centres in the body. Acupressure enables us to diagnose and cure diseases like Common Cold, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Migraine, Heart Attack, Paralysis and even Cancer.

Acupressure is based on the theory that the body has fourteen meridians travel through it. Each of these meridians is attached to a specific body organ. When a meridian develops a blockage the body is adversely affected and diagnosing and removing the blockage through acupressure is the best way to cure the patient.

Acupressure is a way of accessing and releasing blocked or congested energy centres in the body. Acupressure enables us to diagnose and cure diseases like Common Cold, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Migraine, Heart Attack, Paralysis and even Cancer.

The points on the palms and feet reflect the condition of their related organs. This makes acupressure a good diagnostic tool. By feeling the palms and feet with gentle pressure it is possible to get a fair idea about the diseased parts. If pain is observed on any point, the body part related to that point needs immediate attention. I have applied these techniques for self diagnose and found it very effective. Usually you feel pain in specific points of your hands whenever there is an abnormality around your body (in other words it is a symptom of some body or system disorder/pain or disease)
The healing process is next step after diagnosis as you have to apply pressure for continues intervals at the effected or related painful points of your both hands.

Trigger point therapy

Trigger points are specific, hyperirritable and hypersensitive areas in muscle that suffer from decreased circulation, increased contraction and spasm. Lack of circulation creates a high anomaly of toxins and increased nerve sensitivity that can range from low ache to sharp pain.Trigger point therapy involves the applying of pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body. Sometimes massage and trigger point therapy are performed together.
Research shows that sustained manual trigger point therapy is by far the most effective means of getting rid of chronic myofascial (muscle and tissue) pain.
The purpose of trigger point therapy is to eliminate pain and to re-educate the muscles to perform pain-free habits. After several treatments, the swelling and stiffness of neuromuscular pain is reduced, range of motion is increased, tension is relieved, and circulation, flexibility and coordination are improved.
Difference between both therapies:
• Trigger point therapy involves the applying of pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction while in acupressure therapy, pressure is applied for accessing and releasing blocked or congested energy centres in the body.
• Acupressure points are concentrations of energy or blockages of the body’s energy pathways.
• Trigger points are physical phenomena that can be felt by touch.
• Trigger point aims to relieve pain and dysfunction on specific muscle areas while acupressure therapy is used to diagnose and treat illness including pain management.
• Trigger points are mainly muscle centred point arount the body, while acupressure points are mainly at hands, feet and other parts of body.
This usually involves consuming nutrients by eating the appropriate amounts from all of the food groups, including an adequate amount of water.
Usually we follow a particular diet plan for weight loss or weight gain aim. Among a long list of diets it is really difficult to chose a diet which fits you. But the main purpose of adopting a diet program should be staying healthy as well.

Today we are learning about hay diet which a nutrition mehod developed by the New York physician William Howard Hay in the 1920s. The founder of the Hay Diet was Diagnoseed with a kidney-related condition, high blood pressure and other illness, he discored the Hey Diet. The Hay Diet helped him to lose weight and to reduce the illness symptoms.

The Hay diet has traditionally been promoted as being effective for weight loss and digestive problems because it does not 'mix' starch and protein, thus preventing the body from having to produce starch-digesting and protein-digesting enzymes at the same time.

The Hay Diet claims to work by separating food into three groups: alkaline, acidic, and neutral. Acid foods are not combined with the alkaline ones. Acid foods are protein rich, meat, fish, dairy, etc., and "alkaline" the carbohydrate-rich starch foods like rice, grains and potatoes. It is also known as the food combining diet.

As hay diet is based on the idea that the body can not cope with proteins and carbohydrates at the same time because of the way they are digested. This came from the belief that the human body is used to eating only one type of food at time and that the combining of food is a modern habit that are ancestors never did.

Why hay diet?

The hay diet states that the things wrong with modern eating habits are

Poor elimination of wastes and toxins

Eating to few alkaline forming vegetables and fruits

Incompatible mixing of food

This can be remidied by the hay diet because it

Cuts down on protiens starches and highly processed foods

Improves the elimnation of toxins

Increases the intake of vegtables, salads and fruits

Doesn't mix any foods that fight

Saying of Park Benjamin: "Flowers are love's truest language."

Flowers or bouquets of flowers are considered a very romantic gift for our dear ones. But why we prefer to receive or give flowers? Many research studies have proved that flowers have an impact on our emotional health. The presence of flowers triggers happy emotions.

Flowers also have a strong, beneficial impact on those who receive them. So giving and receiving is the best gift for our near and dear ones.

"What's most exciting about this study is that it challenges established scientific beliefs about how people can manage their day-to-day moods in a healthy and natural way," said Jeannette Haviland-Jones, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology at Rutgers and lead researcher on the study.

A team of researchers explored the link between flowers and life satisfaction in a 10-month study of participants' behavioral and emotional responses to receiving flowers. The results show that flowers are a natural and healthful moderator of moods.

- It effects on humans increasing extraordinary delight and gratitude.

- Flowers have a long-term positive effect on moods.

- Flowers make intimate connections. The presence of flowers led to increased contact with family and friends.

"Common sense tells us that flowers make us happy," said Dr. Haviland-Jones. "Now, science shows that not only do flowers make us happier than we know, they have strong positive effects on our emotional well being."
We need to wear or use glasses or contact lenses to ease vision related problems.
Contact lenses are now quite popular, worn by approximately 30 million people in the USA alone.

The choice between eyeglasses and contact lenses depends on what sight problem you have, and the degree of the disorder. There are contact lenses to correct nearly every kind of vision problem, including astigmatism and presbyopia. Even if you enjoy wearing eyeglasses, contact lenses can be worn on a part time basis to suit your needs. Contacts are especially a good choice for sports, working out at the gym, and other leisure activities.

Contact lenses offer many advantages over eyeglasses:

Distortion: In glasses the lenses vary in thickness, depending on the weakness of vision. The shape of an eyeglass lens creates distortion and the thicker the glass, the greater the distortion. The eye, looking through the center and then suddenly switching to the edge, sees the object being looked at move. This is called the "prism effect". If you look through a prism you can see how a straight line becomes bent. Even though the prism effect is gradual as the eye moves across the glasses lens and does not disturb the wearer very much, it can be a nuisance. This distortion can also affect stereoscopic vision until the brain has had time to compensate.
Contact lenses can also have this effect, but to a lesser degree. For anyone needing high powered correction, wearing contact lenses should be a real advantage.

Lens Strength:
Because of its closeness to the pupil, the contact lens often does not need to be as strong as glasses. The image formed at the back of the eye for the near-sighted is larger and less dazzling than with glasses-an effect which makes many near-sighted people who wear glasses choose lenses weaker than their full prescription, so they many not see well. For far-sighted people the image is smaller than with glasses. The power needed for contact lenses can be greater than for glasses. However, when far sight is fully corrected by contact lenses close work is easier than with glasses because the wearer does not have to accommodate so much.
Eye Problems: Some eye disorders can only be treated by contact lenses. These are: extreme far and near sight, unequal vision and astigmatism. People with keratoconus (a cone shaped cornea) or who have had a cataract operation are often better off with a contact lens.
Cosmetic Effect: This is the major reason for many people trying contact lenses. Either they feel glasses don’t look good, or they find them heavy and uncomfortable. The freedom of contact lenses is worth the effort involved in getting used to them.
Comfort:
To start with, wearing contact lenses is certainly more uncomfortable than glasses. In the long term, provided you can learn to adapt, you don’t notice you’re wearing them. Glasses, on the other hand, may be heavy on the bridge of the nose, steamy or sticky in wet or hot weather. There are, however, some common eye conditions that make wearing contact lenses impossible:
Dry Eyes: If your tear glands don’t make enough tears your eyes will become gritty and sore. The discomfort is relieved with eyedrops and by avoiding a dry or rapidly ventilated atmosphere. But contact lenses would irritate the soreness and so are unsuitable.
Wet Eyes: Too many tears can interfere with your vision. Watering eyes may be due to a cold, a foreign body or crying. But if your eyes are continually watery, this may be due to a blockage in the drainage channels and until it has been put right, it will not be possible to wear contact lenses.

Adapting To Lenses: It takes some perserverance to get used to lenses and a lot of people give up in the first two or three weeks. Motivation is of course, all important.
Expense: The cost of contact lenses are generally higher than a pair of eye glasses, when factoring in the cost of saline and cleaning solutions, lens cases, etc. This is especially true if you are using disposable contacts, some of which are designed to be thrown away every month, week, or day.
Much depends on where you live, and whether free health care is available. Some insurance plans will not pay for contact lenses, as they are considered cosmetic and not essential.

With the comfort and ease of contact lenses today, there is nothing wrong with wearing contacts part time and glasses the rest of the time.

Note: Even if you wear contact lenses full time, you should have an up-to-date pair of eyeglasses handy to wear when you are not wearing your contact lenses. For the greatest safety and comfort, you should remove your contact lenses at least one hour before sleep. You should also remove your contact lenses and wear eyeglasses if your eyes feel dry or become uncomfortable for any reason. If the discomfort persists, see your eye doctor immediately.
Wearing proper kind of shoe can solve some of your lower back/spinal or foot related problems. Leg fatigue, lower back pain and even headaches can result from standing and walking in shoes that fail to provide the combination of support and cushioning required by the user.

These Shoes are scientifically constructed footwear which absorb shock and propel you forward with a shock absorber hidden in every heel. Gravity defyer shoe maker claim that it can ease joint pain and pressure on Your Spine.

How it works?

When you put on Gravity Defyer Shoes, scientifically designed springs push you from your heels to your toes and put you in constant movement. As your weight changes to the balls of your feet, the hidden shock absorber generates upward pressure, rebounding your body upward and propelling you forward in life.

How gravity defyer shoes were created?

Scientists investigating shock absorption for buildings and automobiles discovered a special polymer that was both lightweight and absorbed shock and vibration. This research lead to the development of the very first Gravity Defyer Shoe: the Catapult MMXT3. Others in the sport shoe industry had been trying for decades to produce a shoe that would provide the shock absorption and energy reciprocating power of the Gravity Defyer Shoes.

Can gravity defyer shoes help us getting rid of these problems?
Benefits of gravity defyer shoes:

It helps ease Joint Pain and pressure on Your Spine

You can jump higher and walk faster with these shoes

You look taller. As you will gain nearly two inches (2") of height without looking like you are wearing platform or elevator shoes.

We can speed up our metabolism with the help of acupressure therapy.

Metabolism is defined as being controlled by the chi, or life force present in all living beings, and by the chi's flow through various major organ systems. By manipulating the chi and changing how certain organs function, the Western concept of metabolism can be affected.
The Ear
The easiest to reach pressure points that affect appetite and metabolism are located in the cartilage above and in front of your ear canal. Pressing for several minutes on this cartilage will help to redirect the chi to lower appetite.
Spleen SP6
A pressure point that affects the spleen, called SP6, is a good pressure point for ensuring digestive health and optimal metabolism. SP6 is on the inside of your leg, around four finger widths above the ankle joint. The specific point is toward the back of the leg, very near the bone.
Spleen SP9
The pressure point SP9 also affects the spleen and has an effect on your body's water metabolism. SP9 is a little harder to find. To find SP9, look about three finger widths from the bottom of the knee cap and then go one finger width toward the inside of your leg. SP9 is located in an indentation just under the top of your tibia.
Stomach ST36
ST36 affects the stomach and the digestive system. ST36 is in the same general area as SP9. As with SP9, it is three fingers below the kneecap. However, it is on the other side of the leg, around one finger width toward the outside of the leg.
Stomach ST40
ST40 has a number of effects on your body. It clears excess phlegm, affects excess moisture in the chi and is important for digestion and metabolism. ST40 is around two finger widths behind your shin bone, half way down the outside of your shin.
Liver LV3
The LV3 acupressure point affects the liver, and thus has an effect on metabolism. LV3 is on the top of your foot in the skin between your first and second toes, where the bones for those two toes join in a "V" shape. LV3 also helps to prevent chi stagnation.
Liver LV11
LV11 is another pressure point that affects your liver. In addition, it clears additional heat and moisture from your body, and thus affects metabolism. It also helps your intestines. LV11 is located on the outside of the crease on the top of your elbow. To find it, hold your palm up; it is located on the thumb side of your elbow crease.
POST /rpc/ping HTTP/1.0

Tender points are places on the neck, shoulders, back, hips, arms or legs that hurt when touched. People with fibromyalgia may have other symptoms, such as trouble sleeping, morning stiffness, headaches, and problems with thinking and memory, sometimes called "fibro fog."

No one knows what causes fibromyalgia. Anyone can get it, but it is most common in middle-aged women. People with rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases are particularly likely to develop fibromyalgia.
According to a new study from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, it also may involve a particular pattern of brain activity.

Theory:Numerous scientific studies show that keeping a positive attitude can keep a person healthy.

"This study establishes that people with a pattern of brain activity that has been associated with a positive affective style are also the ones to show the best response to the flu vaccine," says the Wisconsin researcher. "It begins to suggest a mechanism for why subjects with a more positive emotional disposition may be healthier."
