Emily Riggs creates the most exquisite gowns. She imports the finest silks, tulle and lace from Italy, sewing each gown by hand. No photo does these gowns justice; to see them in real life, to touch them, is a true dream. I had the privilege of creating a few bouquets for Emily's collection shoot last winter with Corbin Gurkin and A&B Creative. Audrey and Jeremy Roloff were married a year ago and in celebration had a gorgeous photo shoot on the Roloff farm in Oregon. (You may recognize them from the T.V. show Little People, Big World). I was asked to create a dramatic fall-inspired bouquet for Audrey. I am no writer. In fact it's been years since I've written anything other than a birthday card. Yet as I put together this gallery, a story was found in the images and a poem was inspired...

The Magic is in the awakening--
The attempted rebirth.

Loss, fear and insecurities envelop
entangle like the black coral forrest.
In earthing the ability

To breathe
To connect
To dream

Yet all of nature nods it's head
To the Light.
Here it finds what it needs
to grow and flourish and thrive.
A lightness of being.

Thus, Today, tomorrow and to tomorrow's tomorrow
I will emulate the columbine
And nod my head to the Light.

This spring time wedding is just too good. I LOVE spring weddings because the flowers are just perfect! There are lots of local textures and blooms only available for a short period of time (spirea, liliac and viburnum to name a few!)...and the rhododendron bushes! WOW! So this is me asking for more spring brides! Believe me, you will be so happy when you see all the pretty flowers. These photos by Phil Chester are perfect. I love the idea of an elopement. Just you, your partner and a photographer. No fuss, no stress and a the ability to spontaneously allow the day to flow as it should (ie. no timeline!). Here is a little sneak into Christina and Geoff's perfectly-rainy day, saying their vows, hiking and exploring the gorge. These two beautiful people got married yearsssss ago (okay more like 2) and the flower crown I made for Jess is still one of my favorites. Don't you agree!? It's a lush half crown made of garden roses, spray roses and ranunculus. Her vibrant red hair, her vintage dress plus this dramatic flower crown were all perfect together. Wishing these two lovebirds many many more happy years together.

It's always so exciting and terrifying when you get to work with some of the best professionals in the wedding industry. The desire to do your best work ever and knock it out of the park is there, motivating you and paralyzing you at the same time. That's how I felt about this shoot. To be working with Corbin Gurkin, Emily Riggs, Rebecca of A and B Creative and Beth Level was inspiring and so much fun (we even got kicked out of a small beach town dive bar...no we were not overly rowdy). The decision to change my business name was not an easy one, but i knew i wanted to do it. My original name, The Green Dandelion, came to me on a whim and it served it's purpose well. Over the last year i have spent a lot of time reflecting on who i am and where i want to take the business (while not forgetting where i have come from).

While designing my website and rebrand with The Weaver House, the name SELVA came up and it really stuck. It means jungle. Wild and timeless. Carefree and unforgettable. A Shoot // Valentine's Day Wedding

This is some valentine's day inspiration that I can get excited about! it's romantic and dreamy (hello! gorgeous emily riggs gowns and the most beautiful couple ever!) but it's not all fro fro over the top. I chose deep reds and pinks (with a few pops of dark plum) for the flowers to create more of a moody, deep and rich look with the flowers. you know its going to be good when six photographers get together; they've named themselves the roaming natives and bring you this lovely inspiration shoot today. i was thrilled when they asked me to do some flowers for them and even more thrilled to have them want me to make a bouquet and hair garland of my choosing. i was inspired by the beauty of the end of summer and coming fall. most of this bouquet was forged for (with a few elements bought from a local flower farmer). i especially love how the hair garland turned out, i just snipped wild clematis plumes from the side of the highway to create this simple but stunning piece. you can see more of this shoot, along with complete vendor listing, on inspired by this today.

i am sooooo into these small and understated bouquets. the maids are holding bouquets of just lily of the valley, with the bridal bouquet slightly larger and with some seasonal color added in. love love love.
