(PAMI) and&lt;br /&gt;the Philippine Normal University Library and Information Science Alumni&lt;br /&gt;Association (PNULISAA), invite you to a Seminar-Workshop on Archives: Bringing&lt;br /&gt;Past to Present for Good Governance (Series 1 of 3) on May 4-6, 2011 at the CSB&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hotel International Conference Center, Arellano Avenue cor. The training aims to enable the participants to:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. Learn through experience the difference and similarities about archives and records management; &lt;br /&gt;2. Learn the basic preservation measures and reformatting options;  &lt;br /&gt;3. Acquire knowledge in selection, retention, and disposition of archival materials; and &lt;br /&gt;4. Apply both trends and standards in archival and records management in your own organization.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The fee for the training program is PhP 3000 to cover the kit, 6 snacks, 3 lunches and other expenses. This is in response to the need of public and private institutions in record-keeping. It is our goal that after this training, the participants will be able to:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. Continuing professional education and development is every professional librarian’s responsibility and should be every library and librarians associations’ continuing thrust.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In this regard, The PLAI–National Capital Region Librarians’ Council invites all the member of the profession to attend a Lecture-forum on the theme “Becoming” a Library and Information Professional: requirements for continuing education and development of librarians.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This Lecture-Forum aims to:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1). Provide a venue for the discussion and reiteration of the importance of continuing education and development of practicing librarians and information professionals;&lt;br /&gt;2). This is in response to the need by public and private institutions in record-keeping and to some requests that a training program be held in Luzon. It is our goal that after this training, the participants will be able to:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. Understand the basic concepts of effective record-keeping;&lt;br /&gt;2. Know the importance of series control and secondary level record control;&lt;br /&gt;3. Identify the major issues in establishing classification and coding systems; and&lt;br /&gt;4. Kalaw St., Ermita, Manila.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The objectives are: to create and sustain an environment of sharing and talking about books of enduring value; even reaffirming favorable insights and hindsights about those which have already been shared and talked about; to initiate and continue a climate of discussion where writers / authors and readers analyze their crafts and those of others; to develop and maintain an atmosphere of healthy desirable criticism, interpretation and assessment among avid readers; and, to instill and promote an intellectual ambiance to stimulate and encourage the Filipino to read and write as he/she continues to strongly support Philippine books and Filipiniana materials.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A registration fee of Php 300.00 will be charged to the professional participant and Php 100.00 to the student participant to cover forum kit, snacks and certificate of participation.
