How to Make Posts Auto Publish / Publications Auto Blog, which is the title of my article this time, one of the tips and tricks blog may already many scattered or may not have a lot hehe. Make Postings auto publish in my opinion is very beneficial and can overcome some of the problems often faced by bloggers as follows:

1. Mood. Man whose name no such thing sometimes industrious or lazy. well this might be the reason to use auto publish. Sometimes we are diligent in making posts or updates on our blog, but sometimes maybe we being too busy or fatigue due to daily activities so not had time to update our blog, this causes the page rank we may decline. Still in terms of human nature, once we are lazy then chances tomorrow, the next day we would feel such things, lazy going back over to us for not updating the blog again.

2. Running out of ideas. It is possible that one of the most commonly experienced bloggers especially novice bloggers (like me ehehe), of the alternative factor is someone copy and paste from other blogs that are considered interesting and quality article.

3. Internet Package exhausted or slow connections. Never miss on this one, ya nice cool if we run out of the internet continues to direct paketan refills and install the package again and was finally able to update again but what if the money was not there, automatically the next day wait, yes not be a problem if waiting for him just a few days wrote but what if waiting for him until one week ?? waahh possibility rank will go down.

4. Damaged Media. Of course this is the most vital among 3 of the above though poit 1 to 3 have been met with very good but the laptop or your PC being damaged or there is any other trouble which causes you can not update, of course tantamount to lose 3 oint above.

Now that's some great things that might be addressed with Auto Publish, of course there are many other things but here I mentioned the amount of any please add yourself hehe.
From some of the above problems let us resolve to How to Make Posts Auto Publish / Publications Auto Blog. It's easy to me in making auto publish this. Here follow the easy steps,

1. Create a post you want to publish automatically, making it the same way as usual you make a post,
2. Then the next section guess there Settings page entry entry entry or setting,
3. Then specify the schedule and select Set date and time. Well this is the manufacture of auto publish it started, how it works as follows:
Change the date of publication, eg the day you write a post dated April 29, 2013, then on the part of the schedule setting the date to be dated May 1, 2013 and you can also specify the hour according to your wishes. then automatically on the date of May 1, 2013 post that you make today will be published tanmpa you have to open your blog and without having to connect to the internet and the media even without a laptop or PC, all AUTOMATICALLY !! when everything is finished do not forget to press the "finished" and still select "publish". Relax your article will not be publicized before the date that you specified earlier.
4. Then, if it is, there will be a description of the "Scheduled" in your article and not the draft.

I also had to do it when I get notif of the operator if tomorrow my internet package runs out, then I write this article for my blog as much as 6 article in that day and in three days I could not update because my internet package runs out, but my blog keep updating the article because it was my schedule.

"The History of Headphones"

Surprisingly, not everyone wants to hear our music. When we were pumping our LCD Soundsystem mixtape, others in the office said they couldn’t “concentrate” and they “wished we were fired.” For this, and for many other reasons, headphones are an absolute necessity in our daily lives. It was long before Steve Jobs produced white earbuds and Dr. Dre jumped in the game, however, that people began getting tunes pumped into their ear canal. Here’s basically how it all went down.

1881 – Way before MP3s, dubstep and premium Spotify accounts, headphones had little to do with music at all. Back in the 1880’s, the first headphones (or at least their early ancestors) were used by telephone operators. It was a single earpiece that rested on the user’s shoulder and weighed over 10 pounds (kinda like placing a boombox on your shoulder).

1895 – Thanks to the Electrophone system, in 1895 folks could start rocking out to the sick beats of the local opera house from the comfort of their own home. Subscribers to the pricey service would listen through headphones that looked more like stethoscopes than a modern offerings as very large people produced very big sound on a stage miles away.

1910 – Nathaniel Baldwin began manufacturing the first modern headphones. He crafted them in his kitchen and sold them all to the U.S. Navy. This was the first time a pair of cans resembled something you’d see today. Baldwin never patented them, however, because he was an idiot.

1937 – The DT-48’s from Beyerdynamic became the first dynamic headphones to hit the market. Though it would be a few decades before electrostatic headphones came into play, this was obviously a huge leap forward in the can story. Dynamic headphones are, to this day, the most popular type on the market.

1949 – With design in mind, AKG produced their first pair of headphones, the K120’s. If they were reproduced today, they would sell like hotcakes at Urban Outfitters. This model, and other more popular ones that followed, were enough to make AKG quit the film equipment business and focus just on audio.

1958 – John C. Koss changed the headphone game in a way that would make Dr. Dre jealous. In 1958, Koss created the first stereo headphones (Koss SP-3) and launched an all out assault on awaiting ear canals. Over the next few decades, Koss would come to dominate the headphone industry, and he would do it all without the need for a pesky college education.

1959 – At a show in Tokyo, Stax debuted the world’s first ever electrostatic pair of headphones. The SR-1’s would go into production a year later. They are now extremely rare like an original pair of Nike Air Mag’s or a headphone user without hearing loss.

1968 – A decade after introducing the first stereo headphones, Koss unleashed the first US made electrostatic model. The ESP-6’s clocked in at around two pounds, meaning they weren’t exactly like putting in a pair of earbuds, but were still a long ways from the massive pieces created less than a century before.

1979 – If you had to pick the most important event in headphone history, you’d be hard-pressed not to choose Sony dropping the Walkman. All of a sudden, headphones had to be portable. Included with the purchase of the first Walkman were Sony’s MDL-3L2 headphones and everything you needed to rock out to London Calling while roller skating in your driveway.

1980’s – For the man who was prone to headphone hair, the 80’s offered the first solutions. Both the earbud and the in-ear headphone made their way onto the scene in the 80’s even though they wouldn’t reach their peak in popularity until one Steven Paul Jobs changed the music game years later.

1997 – If you wanted to keep your hair in check but also hated the fact that earbuds couldn’t isolate sound well, Sony thought you might like a pair of neckband headphones. You didn’t.

2000 – Screaming babies and loud snorers met their match when Bose unveiled their QuietComfort line. Though pilots had been using noise-cancelling technology for decades, now passengers could also get some relief on loud flights (or in front of the TV with a nagging spouse). Source

2001 – The iPod changed up the whole music universe. It became common to see people with a white cord running from their pocket to their ears multiple times a day. From their inception in 2001 to today, over 300 million iPods have been sold all with the accompanying pair of earbuds.

2008 – Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine joined forces and, along with Monster, created Beats by Dre headphones. Designed with deep bass and great sound quality in mind (this is debatable), the Beats line quickly grabbed a large market share and could be seen on just about every NBA player as they walked from the bus to the locker room.

2012 – Headphones have become as much about style as they are sound quality. This may never have been more relevant than when Lil Wayne wore these $1 million dollar pair of Beats

Let's get started!

Step 1: Duplicate The Background Layer

With our image newly opened inside Photoshop, we can see in the Layers palette that we currently have one layer, the Background layer, which contains our image:

We need to duplicate the Background layer, and we can do that using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+J (Win) / Command+J (Mac). Now when I look in my Layers palette now, I can see that I now have two layers - my original Background layer on the bottom and a new layer, "Layer 1", above it which is my duplicate:

Press "Ctrl+J" (Win) / "Command+J" (Mac) to duplicate the Background layer.

Step 2: Add More Canvas Space To The Bottom Of The Document

We're going to add our water reflection below the image, so let's add some canvas space to the bottom of our document to make room for our reflection. To do that, go up to the Image menu at the top of the screen and choose Canvas Size. This will bring up Photoshop's "Canvas Size" dialog box. The easiest thing to do here is to add twice as much canvas space as what we currently have, but we only want it to appear at the bottom of the document, not above it or on either side, so we need to tell Photoshop exactly where we want this extra canvas space to go.
First, enter 100 for the Height and set the measurement to percent, as circled in red below. Leave the Width option set to 0. Then make sure the Relative option is checked, which tells Photoshop to give us 100% more canvas space than what we already have. Below the "Relative" option is a 3x3 grid of squares. This is where we tell Photoshop where we want to place our additional canvas space. Click inside the square in the middle of the top row (again as circled below). This tells Photoshop not to place any of the extra canvas space above the document and instead to place all of it at the bottom:

Click OK to exit out of the dialog box, and Photoshop will add the extra canvas space to the bottom of the image:

The height of the document has now been doubled with the extra canvas space added to the bottom.

Step 3: Flip The Top Layer Vertically

In order to create our reflection, we need to flip our image upside down, so let's do that. With the top layer selected in the Layers palette, go up to the Edit menu at the top of the screen, choose Transform, and then choose Flip Vertical. Photoshop will flip the image upside down in the document:

Go to Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical to flip the image on the top layer upside down.

Step 4: Drag The Flipped Image To The Bottom Of The Document

We need the flipped image to be at the bottom of the document, so grab your Move Tool from the Tools palette, or press V on your keyboard for the shortcut:

Select the Move Tool.

Then, with the Move Tool selected, click inside the document and drag the flipped image down to the bottom until the top of it is lined up with the bottom of the original image above it. Hold down Shift as you drag to make sure you drag down in a straight line:

Step 5: Add A New Blank Layer

Now that we have our flipped image in place, we can begin to create our water ripple effect. First, we need to add a new blank layer at the top of the Layers palette, so with "Layer 1" still selected, click on the New Layer icon at the bottom of the Layers palette:

Step 6: Fill The New Layer With White

We're going to fill our new blank layer with white. If white is not currently your Background color, press D on your keyboard, which will reset Photoshop's Foreground and Background colors, making black your Foreground color and white your Background color. Then use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Backspace (Win) / Command+Delete (Mac) to fill the new layer with the Background color (white). Your document will be filled with solid white.

The entire image is now filled with white.

Step 7: Apply The "Halftone Pattern" Filter To Create Black And White Horizontal Lines

Go up to the Filter menu at the top of the screen, choose Sketch, and then choose Halftone Pattern. This brings up Photoshop's Filter Gallery (in Photoshop CS and higher) set to the "Halftone Pattern" filter options on the right, with a large preview of the effect on the left. We're going to use this filter to add a series of black and white horizontal lines to the image. These lines are going to become our water ripples . The more lines we have, the more ripples we'll have.

First, we want to make sure we're creating lines and not dots or circles, so set the Pattern Type option to Lines. We control the number of lines by adjusting the Size option. Lower values give us more lines, since we're lowering the size of each line, and higher values give us fewer but thicker lines. I'm going to set my Size value to 7, which I think works best for my image. You may want to experiment with this value on your own. The Contrast option below it determines how sharp the edges of the lines are. Lower values give you softer lines, white higher values give you hard edge lines. Set this value all the way to 50 to give your lines sharp edges. We're going to soften them ourselves with the Gaussian Blur filter in a moment:

Adjust the Halftone Pattern filter options to create a series of black and white lines through the image.

Click OK when you're done to exit out of the dialog box, and Photoshop will fill the image from top to bottom with your black and white lines:

The image is now filled with black and white horizontal lines.

Step 8: Apply The "Gaussian Blur" Filter To The Lines

Before we can use our black and white lines as water ripples , we need to smooth them out and create nice, smooth transitions between them. To do that, go up to the Filter menu once again, choose Blur, and then choose Gaussian Blur, which brings up the "Gaussian Blur" dialog box. Keep an eye on your image and drag the slider at the bottom of the dialog box to increase the Radius value until the lines have a very soft edge to them. I'm using a small image for this tutorial, so for me, a Radius value of about 4 pixels works well. If you're using a larger, high resolution image, you'll need to set yours to a higher value:

Use the Gaussian Blur filter to smooth out the edges of the lines.

Click OK to exit out of the dialog box and apply the blur to the lines.

Step 9: Duplicate The Lines Layer As A New Document

We're going to create a brand new document out of our lines layer, which we'll then use as our displacement map for our water ripples . With the lines layer selected, go up to the Layer menu at the top of the screen and select Duplicate Layer, which brings up the "Duplicate Layer" dialog box. In the "Destination" options, click on the down-pointing arrow to the right of the Document option and set it to New, which will create a new Photoshop document out of our layer:

Click OK to exit out of the dialog box, and your layer will open up in a new document on the screen.

Step 10: Save The New Document And Close Out Of It

This new document that we've created is going to become our displacement map, but before we can use it, we need to save it. We're also going to close out of it after we've saved it, since we won't need it open anymore, and the easiest way to accomplish both of those tasks is to simply close out of the document. When you try to close out of it, Photoshop will as you if you want to save the document before closing it. Click Yes:

Choose "Yes" when Photoshop asks if you want to save the document before closing it.

Photoshop will bring up the Save As dialog box. You can name your new document anything you like. I'm going to name mine "water-ripples". Make sure you save it as a Photoshop .PSD file, since those are the only files that Photoshop can use as a displacement map. You'll probably want to save the document to your Desktop, since we'll need to find it again in a moment.

Step 11: Delete The Lines Layer

Now that we've used our black and white lines to create the file we'll be using as our displacement map, we can get rid of it. To do that, simply click on it and drag it down onto the Trash Bin icon at the bottom of the Layers palette:

Click and drag the lines layer ("Layer 2") onto the Trash Bin at the bottom of the Layers palette to delete it.

Step 12: Merge The Two Layers Onto A New Layer

Before we can add use our displacement map, we need to merge our two image layers onto a new layer above them. To do that, with "Layer 1" selected, use the keyboard shortcut Shift+Ctrl+Alt+E (Win) / Shift+Command+Option+E (Mac). Nothing will appear to have happened in the document, but if we look in the Layers palette, we can see that both layers have been merged onto a new layer at the top:

Step 13: Use The "Displace" Filter To Create The Water Ripples

We're ready to create our water ripples using the displacement map we just created. With the new merged layer selected in the Layers palette, go back up to the Filter menu at the top of the screen, choose Distort and then choose Displace .
This brings up Photoshop's "Displace" filter dialog box. This is where we determine the strength of our ripple effect, and we do that with the Horizontal Scale option at the top. I'm going to set mine to a value of 4, which will give me a realistic ripple effect. You may want to experiment with this value with your own image. Setting it too high though will create too much of a horizontal distortion and you'll lose the realism.

We don't need any vertical distortion to create our effect, so set the Vertical Scale option to 0. Also, make sure that Stretch To Fit and Repeat Edge Pixels are selected:

Go to Filter > Distort > Displace to bring up the Displace dialog box.

Click OK in the top right corner of the dialog box, and Photoshop will ask you which file you want to use as your displacement map. Choose the file that you just saved a moment ago, which I saved to my Desktop as "water-ripples.PSD", and then click Open. Photoshop will then apply the displacement map to the entire image, creating our water ripples :

Step 14: Hide The Ripples On Top With A Layer Mask

Of course, we have a slight problem at the moment. We've added our water ripple effect to the entire image, and we only wanted it in the bottom half. We can fix that easily though using a layer mask. First, Ctrl-click (Win) / Command-click (Mac) directly on the thumbnail for "Layer 1" in the Layers palette to place a selection around the flipped image at the bottom of the document:

You'll see a selection appear around the bottom half of the image in your document. Now, with the merged layer still selected, click on the Layer Mask icon at the bottom of the Layers palette:

Click on the "Layer Mask" icon to add a layer mask to the merged layer at the top of the Layers palette.

Photoshop will add a layer mask to the merged layer, and because we had a selection around the bottom half of our document when we added the layer mask, only the bottom half of the merged layer remains visible. The top half becomes hidden from view, removing the unwanted water ripples from that part of the image:

The ripple effect is now hidden from the top half of the image after applying the layer mask.

Step 15: Apply The "Gaussian Blur" Filter To The Layer Mask

Before we add our finishing touch by colorizing the water , let's soften the edge of the layer mask a little so there isn't such a harsh dividing line between the image on top and the water below. We'll use the Gaussian Blur filter for that, and since we want to apply it to the layer mask, we'll need to first select the mask. We can do that by clicking on the layer mask thumbnail in the Layers palette:

You can tell that the layer mask is now selected by the white highlight box around its thumbnail. We're going to apply the Gaussian Blur filter to the mask, so go back up to the Filter menu, select Blur once again, and then select Gaussian Blur. When the dialog box appears, simply click OK to apply the same Radius value we used previously.

Step 16: Colorize The Water With A Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer

Let's finish things off now by adding just a hint of blue to our water, and we'll use a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer for that. We want the adjustment layer to only affect the bottom half of the image where the water ripples are, so hold down your Alt (Win) / Option (Mac) key, click on the New Adjustment Layer icon at the bottom of the Layers palette, then select Hue/Saturation from the list of adjustment layers:

Hold down "Alt" (Win) / "Option" (Mac), click on the "New Adjustment Layer" icon, then drag your mouse to "Hue/Saturation" to select it.

By holding down "Alt/Option", this tells Photoshop to bring up the New Layer dialog box before adding the adjustment layer. Select the Use Previous Layer To Create Clipping Mask option by clicking inside the checkbox to the left of it:

Select the "Use Previous Layer To Create Clipping Mask" option in the "New Layer" dialog box.

This option tells Photoshop that we want the adjustment layer to affect only the layer directly below it in the Layers palette, and since the layer below it is the layer containing our water ripples , only the water ripples will be colorized, which is what we want. Click OK to exit out of the dialog box.

This will bring up the Hue/Saturation dialog box. We want to colorize our water, so the first thing we want to do here is select the Colorize option in the bottom right corner. Then select the color you want your water to be by dragging the Hue slider at the top. I'm going to drag my slider to the right to a value of about 218, which I think is a good color for my water :

Use the Hue/Saturation dialog box to colorize the water .

Click OK to exit out of the dialog box , and you'll see that your water on the bottom has now been colorized, but the color is much too strong at the moment.

Step 17: Lower The Opacity Of The Hue/Saturation Layer

To reduce the intensity of the color we just added to the water , all we need to do is go up to the Opacity option in the top right corner of the Layers palette and lower the opacity value. I'm going to lower mine all the way down to about 25%, which adds a much more realistic amount of color to the water :

Lower the opacity of the adjustment layer until the water has only a hint of color to it.

Once you've lowered the opacity of the adjustment layer to reduce the color intensity of the water , you're done!
Here once again is my original image for comparison:

Just for fun, here's another example of the exact same effect applied to a different image. The only thing I changed here was that I only added half as much canvas space below the original image (I set the "Height" value in the Canvas Size dialog box to 50% instead of 100%). Everything else was done exactly the same way:

How To Make Digital Photos Look Like Lomo Photography

"How To Make Digital Photos Look Like Lomo Photography"

From the first time I saw a photo that looked like this, I wanted to shoot one of my own. But, for the longest time I couldn’t figure it out how people took photos look like this. Then one day searching the web, I realized I needed a Lomo LC-A camera. This is a Russian made camera that was a knock off of another camera. It is poorly made and by Japanese camera standards, a bad picture taker too. As the legend goes, somewhere in the 1990’s a cult following developed and hasn’t stop since.
Low and behold I went out and bought 2 of these babies. I love them, but I also had a digital SLR – a Canon 20D. After shooting with the Lomo, I wanted to take photos from my 20D and give them the Lomo look and feel.
I searched and searched and after trying several different Photoshop methods, I finally came up with my own using a mix of different techniques. By all means, there are probably other ways to do this, but this method has served me well.

Here is my step by step on how I take a digital photo and make it Lomoified. I do have one suggestion though, create an action script once get this down, it will save you a ton of time.

Getting Started – Creating a Vignette

The first thing you want to do is create the classic vignette that the Lomos are well known for and I achieve this by doing a freehand lasso of a circle around the photo. It doesn’t need to be perfect and to prevent hard edges, I set the feather to 80-90px before creating the circle.

Once you have set the feather (shown above) and have drawn the circle, you must invert the selection. You can do this one of two ways. #1 Shift-Ctrl-I (Shift-cmd-I on the mac) or #2 Go to the menu Select>Inverse.

Now to achieve the vignette, I add a Levels layer. Note: I still have the invert selected.

This will add a masked out layer on top of your original layer. I then adjust the levels by moving the center arrow to the right. This will darken the edges, giving me a vignette. The amount is up to you and in this case I went from 1.00 to 0.50 on the center number highlighted in the image below.

Now you have a vignette.

On to making the photo look Lomo

Another key to a Lomo picture is the color contrast and saturation. This occurs because people with real Lomos use color slide film and cross-process the film in C41 chemicals.
For those that don’t know what cross-processing is, it’s when you develop film in a chemical other then what it was made for. Standard 35mm film is usually processed in C41 chemicals and Color Slide film is usually processed in E6 chemicals. Interesting results happen when you mix and match.
Typically, Lomo owners will take color slide film (E6) and have it processed as standard 35mm film (C41). This results in over saturation of colors and at times some freaky results. All of which make Lomo as special as they are.
To get a digital photo to look Lomo, we need to fake the cross-processing effect (E6 film in C41 chemicals).
At this point I usually flatten the image using shift-ctrl-e (shift-cmd-e on the mac) or go to the menu and Layer>Merge Layers.
First, I add a curves layer and create a slanted S.

Then I create a new layer on top of the other two layers. I select the paint bucket and pick the color black and fill the new layer with solid black.

Then I change the blending mode and set it to Hue and reduce the opacity to 40%.

Sharpening and Saving

This has gotten us very close to be finished. Again, I flatten the photo by using shift-ctrl-e (shift-cmd-e on the mac) or go to the menu and Layer>Merge Layers.
Before saving the photo as a JPG, you need to sharpen the photo. I use the unsharp mask and Lab mode/lightness technique. The purpose of this step is that it adds more contrast and darkens some of the areas as well. Now you can use whatever sharpening technique you want, but the following method prevents the color halos that come with certain sharpening techniques.
Go to Image>Mode>Lab Color. If you hadn’t flattened the image yet, it will ask you if want to flatten, please do so.
Then select your channel window and click on the lightness channel. The 3 other channels should deselect.

Then go to the menu, select Filter>Sharpen>Unsharp Mask.

I like sharpness, so I set the Amount to 50%, Radius to 50% and the Threshold to 0. Click Ok. This is completely up to you on the settings. Plus it will depend on the photo as well and use your best judgment/preference.
Go to Image>Mode> RGB Color. You do not have to reselect the unchecked channels, when converting back to RGB, the channels will automatically turn back on and the photo will go back to be in color.
Now you are done, save the file and share.
Final step, save as a Jpeg.

Step 5 View Page Info

Next, right-click next to the game and select "View Page Info".

Step 6 Media File

Select the "Media" tab and find an embedded file that looks like it relates to your game in the list of media.

Step 7 Save As

Highlight the file and "Save As" into the Flasm folder on your desktop.

Disassembling the Flash File

Now, we have to disassemble the compiled flash file, for which we need to use CMD prompt.

Step 8 Open Up CMD Prompt

Step 9 Change Directory

Change the directory to your Flasm folder. For this, you will need to type in something like this:
cd c:\Documents and Settings\Sy\Desktop\Flasm

Step 10 Disassemble File

Now that you're in the Flasm directory, we can proceed to disassemble the file and convert it into a text file using this command:
flasm -d 509310_stickwarfull.swf > StickWar.txt

This will create a .txt file of the flash game in the same directory.
Note: I am using a file called 509310_stickwarfull.swf, you will most likely be using another file name (for example, 388597_yourgame.swf).
For the time being, minimize the CMD prompt screen, but DON'T close it.
Now the fun begins...

Making Your Alterations

Now that we have a text document containing the ActionScript of the game, we can start to edit it and make some changes to the game.

Step 11 Open the .TXT File

Open up the .txt file you've just created in the Flasm directory. Once the text file is open (using Notepad) you will see lines and lines of code. At first sight this looks confusing, but we're just going to 'pick' at the bits we want to modify.

Step 12 Choose a Value

Search for a value or element of the game that you want to change. For this tutorial, I will be changing the 'cost' of buying people in the Stick War game (obviously, at a lower cost, lol).

Step 13 Find the Element

Use CTRL + F to find a phrase you're looking for. In this case, I chose 'COST', which after a few times searching, I found the elements that I wanted to change.

Step 14 Modify

Make your modifications now, and save the file and close it. I have changed the cost of miners, archers, sword-men, etc.

Reassembling the Game.

Made all your alterations and saved the file? Let's get to building the game back together now.

Step 15 Bring up the Minimized CMD Prompt

Step 16 Assemble the File

You will just need to type in something like this:
flasm -a StickWar.txt

A comment will appear in CMD saying that it was successfully assembled:

Step 17 Play the Game!

I tend to move the game files to a separate folder (by the name of the game).
Put the text file, .swf and .$wf into the newly created folder. You can place this folder anywhere you want now.
Open up the .swf file in your browser - Play Hard, Play Hacked!

This is the game, fully hacked. So within seconds I have enough to quickly complete the level.

Some Notes

Flash Games are written by coders of all shapes and sizes. You might find that one coder has called their currency GOLD in their game, and another coder that has called their currency COIN or CASH. It might take a while for you to peruse the text document to find what you need to change.
I DO NOT condone hacking high scores that can be uploaded to sites. Not fun at all and pretty damn unfair, don't you think?
When you open up your modified flash game, you will probably find that there will be no sound and the layout of the game has changed. This is because the sound files are usually stored separately and the layout is improved by using HTML to cover up the 'dirty' bits.

Thanks for all your feedback on this post so far! We wanted to address a couple of points that have come up in the comments section, with an update to the original blog post. First of all…

What if I don’t want to use a powered cue?

If you’re worried that all those hours of practice might suddenly go to waste, don’t be! The Standard Cue has the same attributes as the cues you’re used to. It’s also free for all existing players – you don’t have to purchase it. So, if you don’t want to try one of the upgraded cues, the Standard Cue is the one for you.
Of course, you may still be playing against players who are using higher-powered cues than the Standard one. This brings us onto the second thing we wanted to clarify…

You’ll still need skill to be the best

We understand some of the concerns that players who have premium cues might have a big advantage over those who don’t. Keeping the game balanced has been a big priority for us for exactly this reason. So while some cues do allow you to hit the ball harder, or with more spin, you’ll still need skill to take advantage of those attributes.
We’re not talking about cues suddenly having the power to magically hit the balls into the pockets, or automatically spin the cueball perfectly into position for your next shot. It also doesn’t mean that inexperienced players will simply be able to buy a premium cue and beat more skilled players. You’ll still need ability, skill and practice to be a top 8 Ball Pool player
Different cues have different strengths and weaknesses – it’s about finding the right one to suit your play style.

What are Cues With Powers?

Ever wished your cue had greater shot strength, or could put even more spin on the ball than normal? How about when you’re on the black, and you want just a little more time to line up the winning shot? Cues With Powers will allow you to do all this and more – you’ll be able to take your game to the next level.
It’ll also add even more depth and strategy to 8 Ball Pool: we’ll be reintroducing the ability to switch your cues during games, allowing you to choose a cue for specific situations.
Each cue will have 4 different attributes:
1) Spin – this is the amount of spin you can put on your shot
2) Force - how hard you can hit the cueball
3) Aim – this determines the length of your aim-line when taking a shot
4) Time – this determines how much time you have to take your shot
Of course, there’s no insta-win cue – you’re still going to need skill to win! But it does mean that some will be better suited for certain situations. You may want to use a Force cue to try and pot more balls off the break, or you may decide that a cue with a better Aim will help you make a game-winning shot into the middle pocket.

How will this affect the cues I already own?

You’ll keep all your existing cues, of course. But we’re also giving a free upgrade to every player who already owns a cue with attributes that are higher than the standard cue.
This update is automatic – if you own a cue already, you’ll find the upgraded version of the cue in your collection and ready to go as soon as we update the game.

How will this affect the cues I already own

As well as upgrading the cues that are in the game at the moment, we’re also adding OVER EIGHTY new cues! Our personal favorites so far are the Shark, Galaxy, Titan and Sheriff cue, and we’ll bring you a closer look at all the other new ones in another blog post soon.
Oh, we’re also including a load of new country cues, including the Philippines, Algeria, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia. Get ready to play some patriotic pool!
Don’t forget – you can switch cue at any time, even during a game.

What about existing boosts?

The existing boosts – the spin, aim and power boosts that you can buy in the shop – are no longer going to be part of 8 Ball Pool. You’ve still got a few weeks to use up the ones you have at the moment, before Cues With Powers arrive in the game. We recommend you use them up before the update!

Playing on mobile

Cues With Powers is coming to mobile first, then the web version of the game soon after. Remember, if you’re playing on web or Facebook you can only play against other players also on web or Facebook, so you won’t be going up against players who are playing on mobile who already have the update.

Charge your cue for maximum benefit

Every cue has a maximum charge of 50 shots, although you can recharge it at any time with Pool Coins. You can also set it to auto-recharge, so you never have to break up your flow during a game. You can play on with an uncharged cue, but its attributes will be lower than normal. Auto-recharge is set to ON by default: you can change this easily by tapping on one of your cues and setting auto-recharge to OFF.
Remember, if you do run out of charge during a game and don’t want to charge up, you can always switch to another cue in your collection mid-game.

How to turn off auto-recharge

Cues are set to auto-recharge automatically – but you can turn this off easily! Just go to the Owned section of the Shop, tap on the cue, and slide the Auto Recharge button to red – as shown in the picture below.
Now, when your cue runs out of charge, you’ll be prompted to recharge it – but you can just cancel that any carry on playing with an uncharged cue, or switch to a different one.

The mobile update will also add 2 Pool Cash to your balance to get you started with some of those new cues

Android Layout is the most interesting View element container in Android. To design UI for an App, you need to know about Android Layout. It is also known as Viewgroup. All view elements like textbox, label, buttons etc need to be contained inside the layout. This Layout is in-turn contained in a layout file location inside res/layout directory of the Android app. An Android Activity uses the Android Layout & shows output on the screen.
The three most important kind of Android Layout elements are

LinearLayout
RelativeLayout
GridLayout

It is one of the fundamental layout in Android which is available for developers to implement their UI’s. As the name indicates, this layout is “linear” in the sense that it puts its children in a linear fashion. LinearLayout is a view group that aligns all its children in a single direction, vertically or horizontally.
So, the available orientations for LinearLayout are :

Vertical
Horizontal

Note: The default orientation is horizontal. If you use a LinearLayout and notice that some UI elements are not being displayed, make sure that the orientation attribute is set to "vertical"

LinearLayout is the XML element name for this layout. xmlns:android initializes the namespace 'android'. The attributes layout_width & layout_height are part of android namespace. If you are new to XML & namespace, all you need to know is that the xmlns:android attribute must be defined for the root element in every Android XML file.
For any view/viewgroup we need to specify its width & height. If not specified, it will cause error. In the above declaration we have made both width and height attribute to match_parent (Also same as fill_parent. You can use any one of them). This means, we are telling the android system that this layout’s width and height is same as that of its parent. As this layout is the root view of our activity, it will take the entire screen as its area.
LinearLayout can be used in vertical or horizontal fashion. We can set the orientation of the layout by setting the android:orientation attribute.

In the vertical orientation, all the children are put one below the other. Edit activity_main.xml. Change android_orientation attribute from horizontal to vertical.

Relative layout is one of the basic layouts available to design UI in Android. It arranges its child views with reference to the view siblings or with respect to itself. That is, using RelativeLayout you can position a view to be toLeftOf, toRightOf, below or above its siblings. You can also position a view with respect to its parent (centered horizontally, vertically or both, or aligned with any of the edges of the parent RelativeLayout).
In this layout, you can specify the child layouts w.r.t its sibling or parent. One or more of the following attributes must be set for every view. Otherwise, the views will be rendered one over another in the top left region of the RelativeLayout.

layout_alignParentxxx - This attribute is used to absolutely position the child element relative to the parent. It can have four possible values - layout_alignParentLeft, layout_alignParentRight, layout_alignParentTop and layout_alignParentBottom.
For eg. setting the attribute android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" for a button element will align the left edge of the button with the left edge of the parent RelativeLayout.
Apart from the above four variations, there are two more variations present - layout_alignParentStart & layout_alignParentEnd. layout_alignParentStart is equivalent to setting layout_alignParentTop & layout_alignParentLeft true for the element. You can guess what layout_alignParentEnd would do.
To position an element at the horizontal center, layout_centerHorizontal is used. To set vertical position, you can either use absolute position attribute like layout_alignParentTop or layout_alignParentBottom or use the positioning relative to the sibling element. This part is introduced later.
Similarly, layout_centerVertical positions the element vertically at the center. layout_centerInParent is layout_centerVertical & layout_centerHorizontal combined.

You can position an element relative to another element in the layout. To refer to an element, it must have a unique ID. This can be assigned using the android:id attribute. The attribute can be used to reference the child element against which the positioning needs to be done. More about ids are discussed in the later part of this article.
layout_toXXXOf are the most commonly used attributes for elements in RelativeLayout. XXX can take Left, Right, Start & End. Eg. android:layout_toLeftOf=@+id/some_element will position the element to the left of an element with android:id="@+id/some_element".
Apart from it, there is layout_above & layout_below. The names are self explanatory.

In the above example, we have used many views - An ImageView, on whose left are two TextViews for title and content and also a TextView for date. Let us examine how this view can be put together using RelativeLayout. Consider the layout below ( Replace the existing code in activity_relative_layout.xml )
In activity_relative_layout.xml, look out for ImageView code. There is only one image in the layout.

An important consideration when dealing with layout elements is when is it good to use which layout element. The LinearLayout is optimized for situations where child elements need to be rendered one after the other from top to bottom, or left to right. That is why the LinearLayout has an attribute called orientation, which instructs the platform to render the child elements either in horizontal or vertical fashion.
A RelativeLayout on the other hand, allows for a more random arrangement of child elements. Child elements can be arranged relative to each other or the parent layout itself. This allows you to have a more flexible design layout approach.
The following figure should give you an understanding when to choose between either of them

One important point to note is that in almost every circumstance, RelativeLayout and LinearLayout can be used to replace the other. However, in general, it is usually much more verbose to do it. In some cases, if the layout is fairly simple, it really doesn't matter which one you choose.
Grid Layout is an Android layout that places its children in a rectangular grid. GridLayout uses a grid of infinitely-thin lines to separate its drawing area into: rows, columns, and cells. It supports both row and column spanning, which together allow a widget to occupy a rectangular range of cells that are next to each other.

GridLayout has fields android:columnCount & android:rowCount which specify the columns & rows in the layout specifically. Each child element can then be positioned to occupy one of the blocks.

Above is example of 4x4 grid layout with horizontal orientation. The orientation specifies the order in which child element gets populated in the blocks. orientation="horizontal" implies that the first row will be filled first & then the second row & then the next. "vertical" orientation implies the first column will be filled first & then the next column.

In the above layout, we have put Textviews in the form of a grid. As the orientation is horizontal, it starts filling the 4X4 grid horizontally and populates all the views. If we change the orientation to vertical, the layout will be traced in a vertical fashion. Below is the screenshot for horizontal orientation.

In Grid layout, the size of each cell depends on the text content of every other sibling element in its row & column. So if the text changes in one of the element, the column or row will stretch to keep the alignment intact.
layout_gravity specifies how a component should be placed in its own cell. The default value set to layout_gravity is LEFT | BASELINE. Consider it to be positioning of the actual text in the cell if the cell is too wide for the text. This could be due to the fact that any of the sibling element in the row or column has a lot bigger text.
This behavior is similar to how HTML table behaves.

In each demo we have created a layout and now let us see how this can be used in the Activity. Images, layout files and other application assets stored in the res folder are referred as resources in Android. The Android framework creates a unique id for each resource and this exact id can be used to refer to these resources.

setContentView

Open the MainActivity.java/RelativeLayoutActivity.java/GridLayout.java file in src folder of any of the above projects and below is the code that you will see. By default Android creates this code snippet for you.

Now setContentView(..) method tells the Activity which layout it has to use for its UI. As we have created a layout resource, we can easily refer to this as R.layout.{name_of_xml_file}. Android automatically creates this constant for you.
Any View object may have an integer ID associated with it, to uniquely identify the View within the tree. When the application is compiled, this ID is referenced as an integer, but the ID is typically assigned in the layout XML file as a string, in the id attribute. The syntax for an ID, inside an XML tag is:

The at-symbol (@) at the beginning of the string indicates that the XML parser should parse and expand the rest of the ID string and identify it as an ID resource. The plus-symbol (+) means that this is a new resource name that must be created and added to our resources (in the R.java file). When referencing a resource ID, you do not need the plus-symbol, like so:

Certain resources are predefined by the Android platform. To reference Android resources, it is necessary to prefix the android package namespace

An ID need not be unique throughout the entire tree, but it should be unique within the part of the tree you are searching (which may often be the entire tree, so it is best to be completely unique when possible).
So whenever an Activity( a screen in android) is about to be shown to the user, its onCreate() method is called. And exactly here we are telling which UI (layout) to use before becoming visible to user. This is how we create a layout (UI) and use(bind) it to the corresponding Activity
XML layout attributes named layout_{something} define layout parameters for the View that are appropriate for the ViewGroup in which it resides. All view groups include a width and height (layout_width and layout_height), and each view is required to define them. Many LayoutParams also include optional margins and borders.
You can specify width and height with exact measurements, though you probably would not want to do this often. More often, you will use one of these constants to set the width or height:

wrap_content tells your view to size itself to the dimensions required by its content
match_parent (referred as fill_parent in API Level 8 and lower) tells your view to become as big as its parent view group will allow.

In general, specifying a layout width and height using absolute units such as pixels is not recommended. Instead, using relative measurements such as density-independent pixel units (dp), wrap_content, or fill_parent, is a better approach, because it helps ensure that your application will display properly across a vari

In this tutorial, we will go through various steps of creating a sample android hello world app. Once our application is ready, we will launch the application and see it working in the emulator. We will then go through the folder structure and see various tools available with us in ADT.
Unlike other languages where you need to write code to run a basic hello world program, the Android Developer Tool (ADT) or Eclipse provides us a great way to create android applications using wizard. In Android, you just need to follow some simple steps and with a few clicks we get our first Android hello world project up and running.

If you haven’t installed the ADT or eclipse plugin, please go to tutorial 2 and complete your setup.

If ADT is not running, double click on ADT to start the development environment. Once the ADT is launched, following these steps:

Click on File -> New and choose Android Application Project, you will see the first screen as

Screen 1

This is the first Screen for creating a new android project. Let's cover each field shown above individually and try to understand their importance.

Application Name: application name is nothing but the name of your app. This name is visible on the screen when the app is installed. The application name is also shown in Google Play Store when you upload your application.
Project Name: Project name is the name of your project that gets created in eclipse. You can give any name to your project.
Package Name: This is very important. Package name is used to uniquely identify your application on Play Store. You should follow the java package convention for the package name . The package name is not shown to the user but should not change ever. A good approach to choose package name is to use the reverse of your company domain name. For example in codelearn, the url is codelearn.org so the ideal package name would be org.codelearn.android
Min Required SDK: As you might know, Android started with version 1.5 and its current version is 4.4. These numbers represents different flavors of Android, like 2.3 is termed Gingerbread, 4.1 as Ice Cream Sandwich etc. These names are used for marketing the OS, while version numbers are of interest to developers. Min Required SDK field gives you the flexibility to decide which version of android at minimum you want to support. For example, if you create an application for android 2.3 it will work on android 4.4. In general, it is advisable to have minimum support of 2.3.3 API Version 9.
Target SDK: This setting tells android that even though your app will be able to run on its previous android version, but it is explicitly tested with version specified here in this field.
Compile With: This option gives lets you choose the version of SDK you want to compile with. Typically,the highest version which is available in your ADT should be chosen here. This will compile your app with the latest code and optimizations.
Theme: If you are creating apps for version 4.X and above you can have an application wide theme. These themes are nothing but some pre defined color schemes, which you can use to improve your application's User Interface.

Once you upload an application to the Play Store, you cannot change its package name. So choose your package name wisely

Now, Click on Next:

Screen 2

This screen is use to configure various project settings, lets go 1 by 1 to see all these options

Create Custom Launcher Icon: Do you remember how you launch an android app ? Well, we do so by clicking on the application icon. This icon is nothing but the launcher icon. If this option is checked ADT will provide you a wizard to create a launcher icon. Keep this option selected.
Create Activity: With this option selected, ADT will create 1st activity for you, this will be your main activity and will have a reference in mainifest. In later chapters, you will get to learn what main activity is, but just to brief you - most of the android applications are built with multiple activities, but whenever you open any application it always starts with the same activity which is termed as your main activity. Through this activity,you tell the Android OS that out of all these activities from my app, open this particular activity whenever the app gets started.
Mark This project as Library: Any android project can be of 2 types, library project or a non library project. A library project is a reusable project which is used by other non library projects. Library project cannot be installed. They're different from JAR files in that library projects can contain resources and assets.
Create Project in Workspace: When you open Eclipse/ADT for the first time, it asks you to choose a workspace. Workspace is nothing but a location on your hard disk where all your projects will be saved. With this checkbox selected, you are telling ADT to save this project in the current location. If you want to store your android project at some other location you can uncheck this option and select your own path to save the app
Add Project to working sets: When you start working in different projects, your eclipse/ADT workspace will have a lot of projects. So it is difficult to work on a new or existing project, as you have to scroll down on a big list of projects, which you are not even working with. To solve this issue Eclipse has an excellent concept of working set. Working Set can be used to Group Similar projects together. When your number of projects in ADT starts increasing, you can group them together into working sets to avoid seeing all projects while working. You can easily switch between different working sets without restarting eclipse.

Click Next

Screen 3

If you have checked the create custom launcher check box, screen 3 will be for the creation of launcher icon.
On this screen, you can configure different options to create a launcher icon. You can choose your own image, Text or even your clip-arts. In the Right pane, you can see the demo of the icon.
You can experiment with different options like background color, shape etc and finalize a icon based on preview.
Click on Next

Screen 4

Screen 4 is an activity template screen. ADT comes pre bundled with some activity templates for you. These templates have predefined structures and they automatically generate required code for you.

Blank Activity: this will create a blank activity with just 1 textview.
Full Screen Activity: This is typically used by games. This activity hides the status bar and then your activity takes all screen space.
Master Detail Flow: This template creates advanced navigation, based on fragments, which will work on both tablets and phones without any change

Select Blank activity and Click Next

Screen 5

This screen is an Activity configuration screen. Since you asked ADT to create an activity for you, this screen helps you in configuring relevant options.

Activity Name: this will be the name of your activity which will be created.
Layout Name: In further chapters you will read that an activity will always have User interface with it. Since ADT is creating activity for you, it will also create a layout for you to bind it with the activity.
Navigation Type: in future chapters you will read about different navigation which you can put it in your apps like tabs dropdown etc. This option lets you choose the navigation type for your activity. Click Finish

Once you click Finish ADT will create your new project and will open Java code and Layout code for you.

1. Run as Android App

Right click on your project in Package Explorer window on the left and choose Run As => Android Application as shown below.

You can also choose to deploy the app by clicking on the green play button on the top bar

2. Watch deployment preparation

Once you deploy your app, check bottom-right of Eclipse for deployment progress. It should say something like Launching HelloCodelearn: (xx%)

Depending on your PC configuration & how recently you have deployed an app, this step will take somewhere around 1 to 10 sec.

3. Deploy on a Device

Once Eclipse has done preparing for the deployment, you will see a popup as shown below.

From here on, you have multiple options. You can choose to

Jack in an Android phone, turn on USB debugging if not enabled & deploy the app on the phone
Create a Genymotion emulator & deploy on it
Create an Android Virtual Device (AVD) which ships with the Android SDK & deploy the app in it

We recommend deploying on phone as the most preferred option. If you do not have an Android phone or you need to test your app on a different Android version, go for Genymotion. AVD is painfully slow option.

If you have multiple options configured, you will see a device chooser popup

Select the device & click 'Ok'. Your app will now be deployed on your device. It will look as below if deployed in an AVD.

Congratulations. You have successfully deployed your first Android App.
You should keep your phone connected to your PC through USB. While deploying the app, your phone would be shown as an option to which you can deploy

If you are planning to deploy the Android app to your phone, it is essential to turn on USB Debugging in your Android phone.

On most devices running Android 3.2 or older, you can find the option under Settings > Applications > Development.
On Android 4.0 and newer, it's in Settings > Developer options.

Watchout: On Android 4.2 and newer, Developer options is hidden by default. To make it available, go to "Settings > About phone" and tap Build number seven times. Return to the previous screen to find Developer options.

Depending on your computer, the emulator images of the Android platforms provided by Google can be quite slow. If you're interested in using a faster (albeit more experimental) emulator, check out Genymotion.

Head over to genymotion.com, sign up for a free account and download and install Genymotion ( You may need to install VirtualBox if you're not using Windows - Refer the Genymotion user guide ).
Launch Genymotion and download a virtual device. We recommend Motorola Moto X - 4.4.2 API 19
Install the Genymotion Eclipse plugin in Eclipse by opening Help → Install new software → Add and enter

and follow the next steps.
After a restart, Eclipse should now show a new icon of Genymotion.

You can launch a Genymotion emulator by clicking on it and choosing the virtual device you previously installed
You can run an Android application project on the Genymotion virtual device by clicking the "Run" icon or right-clicking the project → "Run as" → Android App Codelearn

When you run an Android app, don't expect the Android emulator or the Genymotion emulator to be brought to the foreground. Refer to the output console and open the emulator to see your app in action

Android gives an option to test your application against any version of android, without depending on a real device. This is possible through Android Virtual Device (AVD), which is an emulator or a test device that runs on your machine.
Let's see how we can create an emulator.

Click on Windows in menu option, and choose Android Virtual Device Manager.

AVD manager dialog will open, in recent versions of ADT you get 1 avd pre bundled. But in case of old ADT, you might not have any AVD.

Lets create a new AVD of our own. Click on New in AVD Manager to see AVD Creation dialog.

Let’s go through the elements of this dialog

AVD Name: is the name of your emulator
Device: this is the Size of the screen which you want. In case your emulator is not opening up reduce the size to make it work
Target: What version of Android you want in your emulator, choose the latest version, don’t choose the Google API version
Leave all other options to default,
You can give the size of an SD card if you want

Click on OK to create the AVD

Make sure your RAM size in AVD is not too high corresponding to the RAM available on your system. A good thumb rule is to allocate no more than a quarter of your system RAM. On the lower end, 200 MB is a fair amount of RAM for the AVD

Once the AVD is created, you will see your newly created AVD in the AVD manager. Now you can go and launch your application to run in your new AVD
Till now we have seen how to create a hello world application and test it in new emulator. Now, lets see how android folder structure looks like. Before getting deep into the folder structure, just click on the down arrow present at the left of your project to expand it to see all your folders in the project.

Lets go via each folder and see what each one is use for

src: src is your main folder in which all your JAVA code will go. All your android application logic will go into SRC folder as java class files
gen: gen is a system folder which you should not touch, Android SDK uses this folder to generate mapping of resource files.
R.java: you see a R.java file in gen folder, this file is mapping of your resources into code. This is system generated file and you should not modify or delete it
assets: asset folder is use to keep files which you want to pre bundle with your application like sound, mp3, fonts etc
bin: this is the standard java bin folder where all your compile classes will go
libs: In android you can use libraries build by others to make the process of developing application faster, all your libraries(.jar) files goes into lib folders
res: res is very important folder for your android app, all your images, styles and layouts go into resource folder. Let us go 1 by 1 into each folder and see what it is used for
drawable-xxxdpi all this folders represent different screen sizes for android devices, this folder will contain all your images which you want to use into your android app, the reason to have multiple folder is to get the same image in different size so proper image can be used based on screen size
layout: layout will contain all your UI for any application, this will have XML files in which your UI is defined
menu: this folder will contains menu XML, menus are simple hidden information for any app which appears when the user press menu button on their phone
values-xxx: values folder contains all your strings, dimensions and style for any application, the reason to have multiple folder is based on screen size and android version , but you can change these values.
Manifest.xml: Manifest is the settings file of your android app, as you have read earlier, each application can have only 1 manifest file. This contains all your application settings like name, permissions etc

Ignore all other files

Watchout: Lot of time during your project work you might get R.java error, the best way to resolve that is to do a clean build and make sure correct R is imported in your activity

When you install android plugins or start using ADT you get a few more tools. Let's see some other tools which are available in ADT.

Console

The console gives you all the information about events happening in ADT. Whether you launch an application, generate an apk, create new application or resources, all information is printed in the console.
To open the console if it is not visible you can open it from Windows-> Show View -> Others -> General -> Console

Console helps in knowing what is happening in your development environment

LogCAT

An excellent tool which comes with ADT is logcat. It gives you all information about what is happening in your Android Emulator or Phone if you are using a android phone for testing your applications
Locate displays filterable messages that show you what is happening in your android device. You can filter messages with verbose, warnings, errors etc.
Logcat is the place where all your errors in application will be printed, whenever you launch your application you can refer logcat to see what is happening, in case of any error or force close all your error message will be printed on logcat.
To open the LogCat if it is not visible you can open it from Windows-> Show View -> Others -> Android -> LogCat. Don't use the Deprecated logcat

DDMS

DDMS is a very powerful perspective which comes with ADT, it lets you control and access different information from a device or emulator. To open DDMS, go to Windows -> Open Prespective -> DDMS

get heap dump
Know threads and their information
Change Network to do performance and load testing
Explore files via file explorer
Get system information like CPU load, memory usage etc

DDMS also comes with a nice tool of emulator control, this option lets you control the emulator behavior, here are few things which you can do with this

Send a Voice call mimicking a specific number
Send SMS to emulator, this comes in handy when you want to test some capabilities based on SMS
Mock GPS location to test your application if it is using GPS

In this chapter, we have learned how to create hello world application and how to launch the same using emulator. Also we saw how to create a virtual device. We also got to learn about the android project folder structure and had a glimpse of the tool to assist us in the faster development.

Android Development Setup

In the first chapter, we have seen fundamentals of an android app, from activities to services and broadcast receivers. This is an important building block and essential to learn if you want to make good android apps.
In next few chapters, we will look into each concept in detail while doing some exciting hands on coding.
Before diving deep into the upcoming chapters, we must prepare our development environment to try out sample applications and concept lessons. Let's get started.
Android development does not require any specially built hardware. The development environment is based on Eclipse IDE and works on any platform. Here are some prerequisites to help you decide the version to be installed :

OS: Android IDE works on Windows XP, 7, 8, Linux, and MAC OSX. The Minimum requirement is Java (JDK 6)

For ADT (Android Developer Tool) please check here. Click on 'Download the SDK' button

Watchout: Android requires complete Java Development kit(JDK) and will not work with Java Runtime Environment(JRE) alone.

The following video will guide you through the download and installation process of JDK and ADT . Even though this video is for windows 7, the steps are mostly same for all other platforms.

Lets learn to setup step by step by following the video.

JDK Setup

You can check if you have JDK already installed on your computer. Go to Command line and type 'javac -version'. If you get a version which is 1.6 or above, then you can skip this JDK Setup step.

Go to this JDK download link. Select appropriate Java SE Development Kit based on your Operating System and its version - 32 bit (X86) or 64 bit (X64).
Once the file is downloaded, double click on it to start the installation. Let the default options be selected, and follow the wizard to complete the installation process.

Watchout: A lot of times Oracle JDK installation wizard is bundled with ASK toolbar. Make sure you notice the wizard and uncheck the installation of ASK toolbar to save yourself from bloatware.

ZIP utility

The ADT package which you downloaded from developer.android.com is compressed, you need to extract the package in order to access the setup files. Linux or MAC users can skip this section. For windows users, if you have used zip utilities such as WinZIP, WINRAR etc. , you can skip this section too.
If you do not have an unzip software and are using Windows, follow these steps :

Go to 7 zip download link and download .msi file for your windows machine.
Double click on the msi file and install the 7zip software.
When asked for associating known extensions, let the default option be selected and finish the installation.

ADT (Android Development Toolkit)

Now that we have the JDK and Unzip utility installed, let's go and install the ADT.
Go to the file which gets downloaded from developer.android.com. The file name will start from adt-bundle-Right click and unzip the zip packaged. In Linux or MAC you can use the unzip command on the terminal *You will get a new folder with name adt-bundle-xxxx created. The exact name will depend on your OS and its version (32/64 bit).

Watchout: In the above video you see the presenter doing a cut paste after the above step, you can skip that part if you do not want to change the location of your ADT installation. If you want to move your setup to a different location, you can do cut and paste.

When ADT is installed you will notice that the installation is self contained. This means you just need to have the ADT folder to run the development environment.
Now that we have unzipped the ADT installation, lets go inside the ADT folder to see its contents.

Eclipse Folder

As discussed earlier, ADT is nothing but Eclipse IDE with Android plugin already installed and configured for you. Eclipse folder contains the executable to launch our development environment.
If you double click on eclipse folder, you will see various other folders. These folders are required to run the executable properly
Double click on Eclipse.exe or Eclipse Application file to launch the development environment.

SDK Folder

SDK folder will contain all your android related installations. This is the folder which has your Android SDK, tools, and different Virtual device images.
You will not be accessing this folder explicitly. But it is internally referred by eclipse to find the android SDK path.

SDK Tools

There is a Tool folder inside SDK, which comes pre-bundled with a set of useful tools to perform a variety of interesting operations like log analysis, systrace, layout viewing etc. While covering some advanced concepts later, we will learn to use these tools.
Now that you have your Android IDE up and running, follow the video integrated at the top of this lesson to understand various features of IDE and try to learn things you find interesting.

Caution : For Windows 8 , the installation instruction doesn't change much, but sometimes you might encounter some problem in correctly running the ADT. This is mostly due to incorrect installation of the JDK, make sure you install the correct version of JDK by choose the correct version (32-bit or 64 bit).

Android has come a long since its inception in 2009 - A lot of things have changed from Cupcake to KitKat. We have not only seen great Android Phones but a mature operation system and beautiful App experience.
Though a lot has changed since the launch of Android, the basic building blocks of Android app have remained the same. Let's look at some of the basic building blocks of an Android app in detail. Later, we will see how all these components come together to create an app, using the example of a Twitter application.
An Android Application is coded in Java and compiled into a single distribution package called as APK. APK is the executable file which is installed on your phone as Android app. Let's walk through the various building blocks of the an Android application.

Building Blocks of Android

The basic building blocks of any Android app are - Activities, Views and Intents. These are a must in any Android app
Services, Content Provider and Broadcast are some of the advance features which add more functionality to your app
Let's go 1 by 1 into each of these components and get more details about them.
This is the first Android component you will encounter as soon as you open an Android app. An Android app should have at least one Activity in it.

So what exactly is Activity ? Every screen in an Android app is an Activity. Activity will always have a User Interface (abbreviated as UI). It is not possible to have an Activity without a UI.
Any Android app has one or more Activities. Out of these, one Activity will act as the entry point. The Activity will show up when the app starts. This is usually referred to as the launcher Activity or the main Activity too.
Every Activity has its own lifecycle. You can read more about it in the Activity Concept Lesson .
Every Android app has a Manifest.xml where all Activites are defined and one Activity is marked as Main Activity. One of the most common error developers commit when they start with Android development is forgetting to add a new Activity in Mainfest.xml file.

As a developer, Activity is a Java class file where you write the logic. Activity does not include the UI. Rather, one of the things you need to write in your Activity logic is - which UI to show.

User Interface or UI is what the user sees on the screen. The Activity has the responsibility to set the UI for the screen. UI comprises primarily of two type of sub-components. Views & Layouts or ViewGroups.
View as the name suggest is the basic building block like buttons, label, input-box etc. Layout is the container for View elements. The Layout primarily defines the pattern in which the View element should show up. Eg. LinearLayout mandates that the View elements inside it either stack up horizontally or vertically while RelativeLayout lets each View element position itself relative to the parent or a sibling element.
UI is defined as XML. The top XML element is a Layout element . Inside it, there can be either View elements or Layout elements. An example XML file is shown below.

To move from one Activity to another (or one screen to another), on user interaction like click of a button or click of a notification item, Intents are used. It is possible to pass data including whole objects with Intent. Using Intent you can also open another Android application.

Apart from launching an Activity, Intent can also launch a Service.

With Activity, Views and Intent; you can create a basic Android app. Lots of apps are made by using only these three concepts.
Let’s look into some of the advanced Android concepts.

Have you ever listened to Music on your phone? Have you observed that the music continues to play in the background when you go to the home screen from the Music app or close the app?
This is achieved using Services. Services is the Android way of keeping an operation going on in the background. When you need to have long running tasks like playing music, downloading data or uploading photos; it is achieved through Service.
Service doesn’t have any UI. To show any information to the user from Service, Notifications are used.
There are two ways in which you can create a Service. One way is to tie the Service with an Activity. In this case, the Service will end once Activity stops. The other way is to run a Service independent of any Application. This way, the Service keeps running in the background even after the application is stopped.
Android ships with SQLite database support. Android apps can store data locally in the SQLite database. Every Android application can create its own private SQLite databases which it can use to store data for offline reference.
The purpose of storing data locally is primarily to provide a good user experience. Consider the example of the Android Twitter app. When you open the app, you immediately see the tweet list while there is a loading symbol shown which conveys that the tweets are still being fetched. The tweet list is stale, but you do not have to wait for the tweets to load because the app has stored the tweets locally.
There are other options apart from the database to store data in an Android app. Information of small sizes can be stored in Shared Preferences. You can also create local files & store data in it.
If your Android app wants to use data from another Android app, you may use Content Providers.
A simple example of Content Provider is the Contacts app. You can get contacts in multiple applications like your SMS application, Dialer Application etc.
If you are using SQLite/database in your app, you can either access it directly or through a Content Provider. Content Provider gives you encapsulated access.
Earlier in the Services section, we came across Notifications. If you have used an Android phone, you would have seen small notifications in the top part of your phone for missed call, SMS or email received etc. These are Notifications.

Notifications are simple messages which are used to display information to user that doesn’t require user’s immediate attention
Typically notification comes with Text and Small icon, but newer version of Android support richer notification with buttons and images
User can tap on notification and can interact with it

Notifications are the most widely used functionality in Android, from SMS to missed call, from wifi network connection to Twitter notifications. They are used everywhere.
Broadcast receiver is a way to listen to systemwide events happening in your phone or tablet. Using Broadcast Receivers, we can create some great applications like Call Number finder, SMS blocker etc, which works when some events happen in your device.
Many systemwide events broadcast their information. For example

When SMS / Call is received
Battery low
Network state Changed
Photo captured from camera
Phone Starts

We can also generate custom broadcast from inside our application. Whenever you want to create any application which works with system events use broadcast receiver

Broadcast receivers work even if your application is not running. That means you can create functionality in your application which can be invoked automatically by Android if something happens without actually running any service or application in the background.

So we have seen how different components are available to create any application in Android, now let's look into an application like twitter and see all these components in action.
We are going to demonstrate all the above components in a Twitter app. Below is the screenshot of the app screens with relevant components highlighted.

You can see the various components and how they are used in the Twitter app. Let's take one component at a time.

Starting up

You clicked on the twitter blue icon to launch the Twitter app. This icon is called as Launcher icon.
Once the application is started, it checks if you are logged in or not, if not you are presented with a login. If you are already logged in, you are redirected to your Twitter stream.
The login screen is the Main Activity defined in the Manifest.xml file of the Twitter app.

Once you key in your login details & hit 'Sign In' button, Twitter app does a network call to verify your username & password. This is done using AsyncTask. AsyncTasks are the Android equivalent of Threads meant for short-term one-off operations (like HTTP network calls).
After the user name and password are verified you see the new Activity which shows your Twitter stream. This is done using Intent that helps you to move from one activity to another.

Twitter Stream Home Screen

On top of the screen, there is Action Bar. Action Bar is an example of User Interface.
The list of tweets is ListView which is a View element. You can click on a tweet to go to the tweet detail screen which is again a new Activity. The navigation happens using the Intent. Notice that detail screen looks the same, only the content is changing. The content is passed through Intent when you click on the tweet.
Each item of the ListView is a ListItem. ListView is a complex UI View element comprised of multipe ListItems. Even a ListItem is a complex View element comprised of an ImageView & multiple TextView elements.

Services, BroadCast Receiver & Database

Pulling down the ListView screen invokes a Service which runs in background to update the activity with new tweets.
While this Service is activated, the Activity keeps showing a 'Loading' sign. The tweets are locally stored in the Twitter app. The Service is supposed to update the tweets in the SQLite database. A Broadcast Receiver is setup to listen to the event which is triggered when the Service ends. The Broadcast Receiver updates the tweet list & hides the 'Loading' sign too.

Content Provider for database access

The tweets once loaded are accessible even when there is no network connection. As mentioned earlier, the tweets are stored in the database. Otherwise, it would not be possible to show the tweets when the app is offline.
Typically you never access a database directly. Instead Twitter app may be using Content Provider. Content Provider helps to provide abstraction over how data is stored and accessed in an application.

Notifications

If you come out of the Twitter app, a Service is started in the background. This service occasionally checks for new tweets and displays a notification if there is an update.
Service is one way but to prevent app from draining battery, the Twitter app might be using Push Notification. Push notification are a way to push data to application even if application is not running.

So you need a smartphone, and you need it now. Maybe it’s your first phone, maybe your contract is up for renewal, or maybe you just dropped the last one in the toilet. Fear not. There are a lot of good options out there and we’ve got a quick guide about how to choose a smartphone that should help you out.

1. Figure out what your needs are

Do you need a phone with a large screen, small screen, a physical keyboard? Maybe you absolutely need BB messenger, Exchange support, or a phone with an awesome camera. Figure out what matters most to you and write it down. Your decisions here will affect everything that is to come.

2. Choose an operating system

There are four main smartphone choices today: Android, BlackBerry, iOS, and Windows Phone. Brief descriptions of each are below.
Android: Developed by Google, this is an open source operating system that runs on the majority of new phones.. Android has a robust apps store called Google Play filled with Google services. Visually, it’s similar to iOS, but adds customizeable homescreens and widgets which show things like the weather. The main issue with Android is that because it’s open source, manufacturers like Samsung and HTC often modify its design and functionality, sometimes to the detriment of usability.
BlackBerry: If you’re hooked on BBM or love physical keyboards and small screens, BlackBerry may be for you. The OS is made by Canadian company Research in Motion and helped kick off the smartphone revolution years ago, but has had difficulty keeping up lately. Most BB devices have slower hardware and lack some of the core amenities that Android and iOS offer. BlackBerry 10 will supposedly fix most or all of these issues, but we don’t know enough about it yet.
iOS: The iPhone is the only phone that runs iOS and Apple plans to keep it that way. The iPhone kicked off the app revolution and in its fifth year, it is still the standard upon which all other phones are measured. If you own other Apple devices or enjoy services like iTunes, the iPhone may be a good option for you. It doesn’t allow as much geeky tinkering as Android does, but it has a clean, simple design and an app/game catalog that bests all other mobile platforms.
Windows Phone: After the failure of Windows Mobile, Microsoft started from scratch and built Windows Phone, which is based almost entirely on the Zune MP3 player interface. Windows Phone is the only OS to employ a new type of interface. Instead of relying on a grid of shortcuts and a notification tray, Windows Phone uses Live Tiles, which are half app icon, half widget. Everything on your homepage can display moving information or graphics.

3. Choose a wireless carrier

Unless you’re buying an iPhone or Galaxy, your carrier will determine your phone selection. And, for some of you, switching carriers is not an option. Here in the US, our wireless carriers rule everything. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon are the major networks, but some smaller regional carriers and MVNOs (networks that piggyback on one of the majors) like Boost, Ting, MetroPCS, US Cellular, and Cricket exist, but hold very small market shares (and generally their phone choices aren’t the best). Every carrier has a different set of phones for sale and its nearly impossible to buy a phone on one carrier and take it to another.
Below is a quick rundown of the big four. Obviously, coverage will vary depending on where you live. We recommend you find a way to test each network at your home and place of work to ensure it’s a good fit for you. Try inviting a friend over, or asking your neighbors or coworkers.
AT&T: AT&T has the largest variety of phones available. If you’re interested in Windows Phone or smaller handset makers like Sony and Nokia, this is the place for you. AT&T doesn’t seem to turn ideas down. It was also the first, and is still the premiere, home for the iPhone. AT&T has a 4G LTE and 3G HSPA+ network and is attempting to catch up with Verizon in LTE deployment. AT&T, along with Verizon, dominate the market.
Sprint: Sprint is struggling and has been for several years now. It hasn’t been able to keep up with AT&T and Verizon when it comes to high-speed 4G network deployment, despite being first to deliver 4G (WiMax) through its partnership with Clearwire. Sadly, the service’s availability hasn’t moved beyond major metropolitan areas. An LTE network is in development. Sprint has the iPhone and many Android devices, but a very limited selection of Windows Phone and BlackBerry handsets.
T-Mobile: It’s hard to say where T-Mobile is right now. It does not have a high-speed LTE network or the iPhone, so that makes it a tough choice for many people. After AT&T failed to take over T-Mobile, the little carrier did get a big $4-6 billion dollar present and some valuable spectrum that should help it begin building out LTE service. T-Mobile is the most flexible carrier where it relates to plans and prices, and its Android, Windows Phone, and BlackBerry selection is solid.
Verizon: Verizon is the most expensive carrier, but it’s also the only carrier in the US with a nationwide 4G LTE network capable of delivering speeds faster than most people’s home Wi-Fi. It’s phone selection is also good, though it does tend to brand everything with the name ‘Droid’ and drench its phones in greys, reds, and blacks. Verizon has the iPhone, Android devices, and many BlackBerry devices, but it is curiously lacking Windows Phones

4. Features you’ll want in your phone

When you get down to choosing your phone, there is no shortage of choices, but you cannot trust most employees at stores to know what they’re talking about or to steer you in the right direction. We recommend that you bring along a geeky knowledgeable friend of yours, if you have one, but if not, here are a few features that you will want in your next smartphone.
Nice screen: Read our guide to choosing between AMOLED and LCD. Both are nice in their own ways. Be sure to pay attention to the resolution (you want at least 800×480 pixels for a great experience). If you can, find a phone with a 720p or 1280×720 pixel resolution. That’s top of the line. Anything with the word “Retina” in the title and manufactured by Apple probably won’t let you down either.
Dual-core processor: We recommend a phone with at least a dual-core processor, as it will have a longer shelf life than a phone with a single-core CPU. Single-core phones are cheaper, and some OS’s like Windows Phone and BlackBerry don’t offer dual-core devices yet, but if you have the option, go with dual-core or even quad-core. You’re not buying a phone; you’re buying a tiny PC.
4G LTE: If you are on a carrier that supports 4G LTE, then make sure you get a phone that supports the feature (and gets good battery life, unlike the HTC Thunderbolt). AT&T and Verizon currently support LTE, with Sprint and T-Mobile beginning to roll out their networks. You may not feel that LTE is important now, but remember that you won’t be getting a phone for two years. By then, everyone will be on super fast 4G networks except you. 4G is worth the jump. Up-to-date OS: If you’re buying an Android phone, you want one with Android 4.0 or a clear date when an upgrade will arrive; If you’re on Windows Phone, make sure it has Windows Phone 7.5; If you’re buying a BlackBerry, make sure it’s a BB7 device; and if you’re buying an iPhone, make sure it’s a 4S, or at least a 4. Don’t buy a 3GS. You’ll regret it, much like our own Molly McHugh. Someone send her a better phone.
A good camera: Take a few test shots with your phone. Compare them with the iPhone 4S. If the phone you’re choosing just can’t measure up, then that sucks because even the iPhone’s camera ain’t that great. You won’t always have a DSLR with you when something cool happens, but you will have your phone. At least have one capable of taking a good picture. Currently, HTC, Samsung, Nokia, and Apple are leading in cameras.
Bloatware: Be careful of bloatware or altered features, especially if you’re buying Android. For example, on the LG Revolution last year, Verizon and LG chose to remove all of the Google services from the phone and replace them with Microsoft Bing. As much as you may like Bing, this decision hampered the usability of Android and would have made your life hell at one point or another. The cleaner your device is, the better.
Battery life: Ask about this or look it up. The difference between a phone with great battery life (the Droid Razr Maxx) and a phone with poor battery life (Droid Bionic) is night and day. Battery life only gets worse with time. If your phone cannot hold a charge all day when you buy it, it’s going to be much much worse in 12-24 months. If possible, get a phone with a removable battery, so you can buy a spare or swap out a defective battery.
Size: Make sure you can hold it. A small screen is annoying, but if you buy something like a 5.3-inch Galaxy Note because it’s hip and the kids are doing it, make sure you’re not going to tire of having a massive phone in the next two years. Trends come and go, but you have to drag this piece of technology around with you all the time. Make sure it’s something that will actually fit in your pockets.
MicroSD: Having a microSD slot is not required, but it is nice if you like to listen to a lot of music, podcasts, or want fill your phone up with other items. A phone with at least 8GB of internal storage is also recommended, but if you’re buying a top-notch phone, expect 16-32GB of internal Flash storage. Space is good to have.

5. Pick a service plan

There are an endless variety of plans and wireless carriers modify them every month with some new gimmick (see: Verizon’s Share Everything plans). Below are our basic recommendations for someone with a smartphone.
Talk: We recommend paying for as few minutes as you have to. Carriers often include night and weekend minutes, but the truth is that we just don’t talk on our phones as much as we used to. We use them as much for browsing, email, GPS, and texting. Most carriers offer 450 minutes for $40/mo as a minimum. If you can find a way to pay for less, then do it.
Text: Texting costs carriers nothing, but they charge an arm and a leg for it. We recommend a moderate plan for $10 a month or less. Many people are moving toward Facebook chat, Google Chat, iMessage, BBM, and other chatting programs, which eliminate the need for texting. If these options sound good to you, maybe skip a texting plan all together.
Data: Here’s the tricky one. You’re going to want at least 3GB of data, but we wouldn’t recommend paying for much more, due to the extreme price. Most of these plans are about $30/mo. If you’re on Verizon, make sure to wait until they do a promotion to offer at least 4GB for $30 because the normal rate is 2GB. T-Mobile and Sprint do not institute bandwidth caps, but T-Mobile does throttle the speed of heavy users.

Getting Started

How does Android development go down? First, the zoomed-out basics:

You’ll write your programming—what you want your app to do—in Java files and design your layouts—how you want your app to look—in XML files.
Once your app is ready, you’ll use a build tool to compile all the project files and package them together into a .apk file that you can run on Android devices and/or submit to Google Play.
All of the files you used to put your app together are managed by an Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The IDE is the program you will open to edit your code files and to manage your projects.
The standard IDE for Android used to be Eclipse, but this is now being replaced by Google’s own Android Studio.

If you zoom in (metaphorically), you’ll find more in-depth processes going on behind the scenes during all of the above steps. For example, advanced users will want to investigate the role of the Dalvik Virtual Machine and it’s new replacement, ART.
But for now, let’s move on. Here’s what you’re going to accomplish in this part of the tutorial:

Download and install Android Studio.
Set up testing on devices and emulators.
Create a simple “Hello World!” Android app that prints to your device’s screen.
Make small edits to the app so it can congratulate you by name.

In the second part of this tutorial, you’ll make an app that records a message you type, adds it to a list, saves it in memory and shares it with friends. Along the way, you’ll learn how to add and configure various UI elements such as ImageViews, Buttons, ListViews, and EditText controls.
Finally, the third part will cover how to make an app to search an online database of books, display and share the cover images of the search results, and navigate between the different screens of your new app!

Installing Android Studio

It’s really tempting to jump in, start writing code right away and figure out the various Android features as quickly as possible. And you will get there soon! But one of the most important parts of getting started with a new platform is setting up your environment.
Especially for beginners, it’s important to take your time here and follow each step methodically. Even if you follow the steps perfectly, you may have to troubleshoot some small issue, depending on your system configuration or product versions.
It’s important to not let any roadblocks prevent you from your ultimate goal of learning Android. Even seasoned professionals have been known to have some trouble with the new Android Studio.

Note: Just as much as you’re training in programming syntax and frameworks, it’s important to train yourself to have a successful programming mindset — one that won’t accept file X not found as a final answer. 90% of this mindset is simply training yourself to keep trying till you find a solution.

With all of this in mind, let’s quickly check that you have the Java Development Kit (JDK) installed. You might already, even if you don’t know for sure.
To check, you’ll use the Terminal. If you’re unfamiliar with the Terminal, you may want to read a good introductory tutorial about working with the Terminal.
In a nutshell, your Terminal is like looking under your car’s hood. It’s how you really get to know the machine face-to-face, without any complex graphical interface in the middle. You can find the Terminal app quite easily on a Mac using Spotlight. Search for terminal and click the top hit to run Terminal.

Once you have the Terminal open, type in java -version. You should see some output that mentions a version number, like below.

If you don’t have the JDK installed, your Terminal will tell you command not found. If that’s the case, you should download the JDK from Oracle.
When ready, head over to the Android Studio page and click the big green button to download the correct version for your Operating System.

Google is constantly updating this page, so the version you see may be newer than the screenshot above. Once you have clicked the button you’ll be asked to agree to the Terms and Conditions:

After reading these carefully (as you always do) accept the Terms and Conditions and click the blue button underneath titled Download Android Studio. Your download will finally begin. It may take a few minutes but once finished you can install Android Studio similar to any other program.
The download page will helpfully redirect to a webpage that contains installation instructions for OSX, Windows and Linux Operating Systems. If for some reason the instructions don’t appear then you can also view them here.
Now that you’ve installed Studio, let’s fire it up! Launch Android Studio.

Once Android Studio has finished loading, you’ll be greeted with the Setup Wizard the first time Studio loads.

Click Next to move to the next screen. This screen will ask what type of setup you would like. Make sure Standard is checked and click Next again to move to the next screen to accept some licenses for components that will be installed on your computer.

Accept these and click Next one last time to begin downloading the extra components you will need.

After a few minutes you will have everything you need to begin building fantastic Android Apps and will move to the welcome screen.

Even though you just downloaded Android Studio, you might not actually have the latest version. Right away, you need to check to see if any updates are available and if necessary, follow any instructions to get the latest version. You can check whether any updates are available by clicking check for updates at the bottom of the welcome screen.
If an update is available you will have a window like this appear:

When you see this screen. Always choose Update and Restart. In some cases, you may need to download the full installer – in that case you will see a Download button that will take you to instructions for installing.
Great! As all programmers in the movies say when they are successfully greeted with a new interface: We’re in!

Using a brush, blow-dry your hair and define a side part. If you find it easier, use a tail comb to part your hair while it’s still damp.

Step two

Step three
Work the product throughout the hair, starting from your part and working outwards. Add more as needed but take care not to over-apply.

Step four
