Due to this monumental problem faced by so many today, Beachbody LLC and Tony Horton (famous for P90X) decided to create a workout program based on 10 minute increments of exercise which it calls <a href="http://shop.fitnessbodyonline.com/10-minute-trainer.html">10 Minute Trainer</a>.</p>
<p>As the name suggest this workout program encourages exercise by advocating five DVDs that are no more than 10 minutes Lang.  Well actually that’s not true; with the warm-up and cool down periods, the DVDs run more than 10 minutes, but the actual routines themselves fall within the 10 minute time parameter. These five workout DVDs cover all areas of the body like the, upper body, lower body, total body, cardio, and even yoga.</p>
<p>To give you an extra level of intensity the program comes with either a heavy or medium level resistance band based on what you choose. This band can be transformed when used along with the cardio belt that is also part of the program to give you an extra layer of cardio intensity when you use it in conjunction with the cardio DVD. You also receive a nutrition guide that provides step by step eating habits for the 60 day program in addition to a multitude of nutritious yet tasty recipes.</p>
<p>Although the programs DVDs are each 10 minutes long, the basic premise of the program definitely encourages it’s users to progress past 10 minutes of exercise per day.  The unique technique is referred to as “Super Stacking” and is what sets the program apart from many others like it.  The idea is that after an exerciser builds up strength and endurance you enter a second phase where you “stack” on a second 10 minute workout brining your total time to 20 minutes.  You follow this pattern until you are at a level of 50 minutes per day of exercise hitting all areas of your body.  This pattern is what allows people of all ages and ranges in physical fitness to enjoy it and grow with the program. In this manner 10 minute trainer is able to be utilized not just a jump start program, but one that can used through many phases of your physical growth.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="KonaBody"><p><strong></strong>Hitting the headlines in recent months and made famous by HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, who along with her mother used it prior to her wedding to Prince William in an effort to lose a few extra pounds, the Dukan Diet has seen an increase in popularity. But is it effective? What does it entail? Will it really help you shift the excess weight?</p>
<p><strong>The Four Stages</strong></p>
<p>The Dukan Diet was compiled by Pierre Dukan, a French dietician. He devised a plan consisting of four stages which was designed to help patients lose weight and then not put it back on afterwards which is seen by many people as the bane of most diets, quick weight loss followed by rapid weight gain once normal eating patterns are resumed. <strong>The Four Stages</strong> are as follows:</p>
<p><strong>Attack:</strong> Whereby the dieter will rapidly lose two or three kilos in around a week. Mostly by consuming protein which is likely to come in the form of low fat cuts of meat (beef, chicken, turkey), or white fish. There are also dairy possibilities, including no fat yoghurt and cottage cheese. Finally there are vegetarian/vegan options such as eggs and tofu. Food can be seasoned with herbs and spices, salt and vinegar and things that are considered by Dukan to have “zero” calories such as onions. It is recommended during this phase, twenty minutes of exercise is taken and that 1-2 tablespoons of oat bran are consumed with your protein intake.</p>
<p><strong>Cruise:</strong> After a fast start, a slower approach is taken in the second phase; dieters are allowed to eat protein rich foods in order to maintain a steady weight loss of around 1 kilo per week. Green vegetables are allowed – but not peas, carrots or potatoes as they are considered “starchy”. Salads are encouraged, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, radishes. Green beans, cauliflower and celery are all OK to eat too – vegetables can either be eaten raw, steamed or boiled lightly.</p>
<p><strong>Consolidation:</strong> The most important part of the diet is adjusting your food intake to include a more normal pattern of food – most fruits, vegetables, good proteins and fats and starchy carbohydrates. In this phase, fruit is reintroduced – but only watery ones, such as watermelon, apples and citrus. Starchy carbs come back in moderation – you can have say, two small slices of healthy whole grain bread per day and one other portion of carbs per week (yes, that’s right per week…). You are also allowed what is called one “Celebration” meal per week</p>
<p><strong>Stabilisation:</strong> In which the dieter is allowed to eat whatever they want in moderation so long as one day a week they stick to protein only, incorporate oat bran into their eating regime and make a commitment to regular exercise. This last feature is for life.</p>
<p>To accompany the Four Stages there is a list of around one hundred “allowed” foods which dieters must stick to, largely protein based – with the consumption of some fruits and vegetables. The Dukan Diet insists that people have a regular intake of oat bran as a good source of fibre and to help fill you up and slake hunger pangs.</p>
<p><strong>Does It Work?</strong></p>
<p><strong></strong>Essentially, you’re looking at a plan that is similar to the Atkins Diet which has shown some success for its users. However, while this diet does encourage positively the intake of oat-bran fibre and includes more fruit and vegetables with the emphasis gradually being put back upon including most foods back into your diet including proper carbohydrates, it does have its drawbacks:</p>
<p><strong></strong>1.) You are, for the first part mostly subsisting on protein and little else. This could be quite boring and also may put your body into a state of Ketosis whereby the body attacks its own fat reserves for energy. Long term, this is not healthy.</p>
<p>2.)  Eating too much protein can put a strain on your organs such as kidneys – which can exacerbate any problems you may have or introduce health issues.</p>
<p>3.) Although you are being encouraged to eat oat bran, there is a general lack of fibre in this regime, which can be a problem. An unbalanced diet short of fruit and vegetables and heavy in fish and meat can lead to bowel issues.</p>
<p>4.)  Lack of starchy carbohydrates and cereal based foods can lead to deficiency of vitamin B and a decrease in energy levels.</p>
<p>5.) Once the programme ends you may find it difficult to keep the weight off, contrary to what the plan suggests. Eating normally for six days and then sticking to the Dukan protein plan for one day is unlikely to help maintain weight or shift pounds.</p>
<p>As with many diet plans it really is best to consult with a registered nurse or doctor – these people are specialists with regard to a whole host of medical issues from the common cold to <a href="http://www.kwikmed.com/drug.asp" target="_blank">drug screening</a> and will be able to help and advise you with regard to what the best plan is for you. What works for someone else may not work for you and it is always best to approach diets like this with caution and an open mind.</p>
