Golfers need to lose weight! The average golfer is 20 or more pounds over weight. This is not good for your health and your game. I’m not here to lecture, but want to show you how simple tips can help you lose weight fast!

Let me start off saying, “don’t go on a DIET!” Diets don’t work! If they did there would be ONE!

Secondly, don’t have the attitude “I’ll give it a try”. There’s no conviction in those words. You’ll fail before you start. You MUST have firm and positive words in your goals. For example, “I am going to lose 5 pounds in 30 days”. “I am going to eat better every day”. “I am going to be successful no matter what”.

See how the above statements have no second-guessing in them? Try and hope are words that should not be in you vocabulary. They are feeble and failure-oriented. Instead… words like “I will”, “I am going to”, are more success-minded.

Do you see where I’m going with this? Now on to a nutrition tip.

Change one eating habit right now! Not tomorrow. Not next week. Right now!

What is one of your vices? A sugared desert every night after dinner?

Starting today you are going to replace it with a sugarless, low-fat snack.

You can eat sugar-free jello or pudding which is real tasty. Or the best choice is a piece of your favorite fruit. Cantaloupe. Banana. Strawberries.

You will do this every day until it becomes a habit. Then it’s on to the next habit change.

If you’re looking for simple tips, techniques and strategies to lose weight and keep it off, take a look at Mike Pedersen’s Golfers Guide To Weight Loss.

No matter which sporting event you can think of, they all have their own rules for the fans. Golf is no exception. In order to get the most out of watching a live golf tournament, the proper etiquette is essential.

If you’ve never been to a live professional golf tournament, then take a look at the following list of “Do’s”. By paying attention to these you will get an idea of how fun and rewarding such a tournament can be. So as a followup to yesterdays post, here’s a list of the “do’s”–

1. Do take your kids with you. Obviously, this only applies to children who can behave themselves and keep quiet at the appropriate times. And they have to be old enough to be able to get something out of a very long day watching the pros.

2. Do take the opportunity to ask a pro golfer questions. And it goes without saying that he or she is willing to talk with the fans.

3. Do ask for an autograph from your favorite golf pro, as long as they agree to this.

4. Do cheer and clap after a shot has been made, but only AFTER!

5. Do help the course marshal with locating a hard-to-find ball, if needed. Sometimes balls land in a difficult area and by pointing out the direction, you can be a big help.

The “Don’ts” Of Golf Tournament Etiquette

Probably one of the greater experiences a golf fan can have is watching a professional golf tournament. I try (not always successfully) to get to at least one professional golf competition every year.

As with any organized event, there are certain “do’s” and “don’ts” that you should observe. And this seems to be especially true for golf tournaments. In today’s post, I’m going to present some of the “don’ts”–

1. Don’t wander off inside of the ropes which are used to block off spectators. Those ropes are there for a reason. Stay outside of the ropes and let the golfers play without hindrance from the fans.

2. Don’t talk or move around while one of the players is setting up for their swing.

3. Don’t ever heckle a player.

4. Don’t get rowdy, overly intoxicated, or obnoxious on the golf course. Golf has a history of being a courteous sport, so let’s keep it that way!

5. Don’t cross the fairway unless a course marshal gives you the green light. Again, don’t impede the play of the tournament.

6. Don’t litter on the course. This includes cigarette butts.

7. Don’t take pictures when a player is obviously concentrating on his shot. You’ll find that most tournaments don’t even allow cameras.

8. Don’t be rude to other spectators by pushing them out of the way just to get a better view.

Most are public courses. Other courses you can find are strictly private and require a membership. And then there are the most prestigious courses, the golf resorts.

In most cases, golfers who go to the golf resorts are those who are on vacation. These unbelievably beautiful places are typically located in warm areas. They are found in Florida, South Carolina, Mexico, Hawaii, the Bahamas, Arizona and any other beautiful warm location you can think of.

These kind of courses provide facilities that rival and oftentimes, exceed the country club type of location. The resorts typically have five-star hotel accommodations. They usually also have services for children and other members of your party who are not golfers. These golf resorts are places that everyone on vacation will enjoy.

The facilities at golf resorts are usually reserved for the resort guests. This keeps the club private to the vacationers and maintains low numbers of players on the course. You’ll find that golf resorts vary their prices according to the season and the time of stay. It’s a good idea to plan ahead for your trip and explore the various pricing models that the resorts will have.

Here is a place where you can get more information on some of the best golf courses available. If you’re interested in a vacation at a golf resort, do your research. It could be one of the best vacations you’ve ever experienced.

Okay golfers… this is the time you set up your New Year’s “get in shape” resolutions, right? But this year is going to be different. You’re going to institute a simple golf fitness program that you cannot fail at.

Golfers, as well as most people, make up many excuses not to exercise. These are feeble attempts at self-sabotage. Don’t fall into this trap anymore. The key is to start with a modest, realistic golf exercise program you know you can do.

The key components of the one I’m talking about is one in which you only spend 3 minutes a day! Yes…you heard that right…JUST 3 minutes a day to a fitter golf game, with more power and distance.

I know you can do this! I’ve put together a program for golfers that is SO EASY it has a “no-fail” clause (not really) attached to it.
You will be doing it in your home for one less excuse of having to drive to a gym. With this program, I’ve removed ALL EXCUSES! There is not one excuse you can use to bail out on yourself yet again.

This year is going to be a turning point for you. Both in your game and your health. You’ll have nothing but many quality years of good golf ahead of you.

Do not accept the myth that you have to decline physically as you get older. This is NOT true! If you want to be like every other person, then yes. But if you want to make some better choices with your lifestyle (eating and exercise) you’ll live a long and health life full of great rounds of golf.

If you want a program for this New Year, then check out Mike Pedersen’s Revolutionary 3 Minutes for 30 Days golf fitness program today!

There are probably thousands of golf articles floating around the Internet. This is in addition to the hundreds of golf books and the dozens of golf magazines that are available in any of the major bookstores.

Can You Trust The Information?

With the huge amount of information available from so many sources, you have to be careful not to take every piece of golfing advice that you find as gospel. With the untold number of techniques and tricks that people come up with, you have to take the approach that the information may work for somebody else, but it may not work for you.

So, if you’re checking out a golf tip that is presented by a certain player or golf teacher, give it a try. If it doesn’t work for you or doesn’t feel comfortable, then move on to something else. Or perhaps there is a way you can modify the technique so it does work for you. Don’t feel like you have a problem because it doesn’t work for you. Keep trying things from other sources until you find something that does work.

Golf Books

Beginning golfers should buy a few books that cover the basics of golf. Look for those that are written with general information. These serve as good starting points for becoming familiar with the fundamentals of the sport.

Once you’ve taken some lessons and played several rounds and feel comfortable with the game, then consider books that focus on specific elements of the game, such as putting, using the short and long irons, and how to effectively use the woods.

Golf Videos

One of the better ways to learn the various swing techniques is from videos. Look for videos that use a slow motion process to demonstrate the various technique. Videos will allow you to see what should be happening at every step of the swing. Other videos to consider are golf fitness videos. The more fit you are before you step onto the course, the better your game will become.

Here is one place you can find a sampling of various golf swing videos. And here is a place that will give you a sampling of various golf exercise videos.

Golfers want to know the secret. How about the best golf exercises Tiger Woods does? Can you do these too? Absolutely you can!

The first thing you need to do is understand the main movement in the golf swing. What is it? It’s rotational! You turn back and turn through.

Therefore it only makes sense to incorporate rotational golf exercises that target your core area. This is your quickest way to longer drives and more power.

Some of the best golf exercises for your core involve exercise tubing, dumbbells and a weighted medicine ball. All very inexpensive and can be used in the convenience of your home.

Golf exercising tubing with handles can allow you to do golf swing movements with resistance. This will increase your core rotational strength specific to your golf swing.

Dumbbells can be used in a similar fashion as well as the medicine ball.

If you ever hear a trainer saying he/she does golf specific training and then proceeds to put you on a machine in a gym…RUN! This is NOT golf specific but GENERAL fitness!

Sport-specific training is a must if you want to get the most out of it. Golfers are no different. Break down the movements in your golf swing and you’ve got the best golf exercises, now just add tubing, weights or medicine ball to them.

There is nothing wrong with playing golf or practicing while listening to music. You may find that it can actually help your game. A big advantage of listening to your favorite tunes while on the course is that it helps your mind and body to hit your shots on a more subconscious level.

If you listen to music, you may find that you don’t even think about the components of your swing. Since your mind tends to focus on the music, all the little details of your swing are pushed into the subconscious–making sure the clubface is square, your swing speed, your weight distribution, are you keeping your elbow tucked, and on and on.

Intermediate and experienced golfers might want to think about listening to something that relaxes their minds when they are playing. By letting the subconscious take over during your swing, you might just find that your swing will start to improve. If you’re not thinking about your shot, you may find fewer ruined shots out of fear or concern.

So find some good music, load up your mp3 player and head to the course or driving range. See how the music affects your shot. You might be surprised.

Check out the following tips from a friend who is a fellow golfer, and who takes two or three golf vacations a year:

1. If the whole family is going on the vacation, consider everybody’s like and dislikes. As hard as it might seem to you, they may not want to be immersed in the world of golf for the entire vacation. It’s possible to have a great time at local golf courses by planning your vacation in places that don’t include a private golf course. And doing this will give you much more variety in terms of the courses you play.

2. There are all kinds of golf vacation package deals available everywhere. You should seriously consider these because, as described in an earlier post about golf vacations, it’s possible to save hundreds, and perhaps thousands of dollars in vacation expenses.

3. Before you go, call the courses or resort and find out what the course difficulty rating is. Try to match your skill level to the appropriate golf courses. You’ll probably have a better time on your vacation.

4. Pack light. And obviously, include your golfing gear, your clubs, and any protective accessories, such as sunscreen, tape, and extra spikes for your shoes.

By considering these things, you and your family will have a great vacation and everybody should come home happy. If you’re not sure where to go for a golf vacation and want more information on some great golf vacation places, take a look at “Best Golf Courses Information” for a good all-around sampling of courses to think about.

Golfers struggle to improve their golf swing. Many of them have over a half dozen swing faults they just can’t correct. Take more lessons, and hit more balls. You won’t fix it til…

…you isolate your physical limitations that are the CAUSE of these swing faults. You see… for every swing fault there is a physical limitation in your body causing it. Don’t believe me?

How many times have you wished and dreamed of a bigger backswing and it just didn’t happen? Do you really think more lessons or hitting balls will help you achieve this? Wrong!

It’s your body’s range of motion specific to your backswing that’s causing this. You have minimal rotational flexibility in your core.
Without improving this limitation, you’ll never be able to make a bigger backswing.

Are you starting to get the picture?

I want you to make a change in your golf improvement approach. I want you to start looking at what is causing your swing fault, instead of trying to fix the symptoms. You need to dig a little deeper, but I know you can do it.

Here’s another example to give you a better understanding of my approach to golf improvement.

Your teaching pro keeps telling you, you’re coming “out of your posture” during your golf swing. There are no mechanics or instruction tips that can fix this. Again… it’s a physical limitation.

This time it’s your hamstrings (back of your upper leg). This muscle group is the critical component to help you stay in your golf posture. If they are weak and/or tight, you will come out of your swing forever!

I hope in this brief article, I’ve exposed a better way for you to improve your golf swing.

For a complete golf training improvement system, take a look at Mike Pedersen’s Ultimate Golf Fitness System today!
