Effective search engine optimization can make a site more crawlable and make individual pages more accessible and easier to find. Search engine optimization includes things as simple as keyword research to ensure that the right words are on the page, not just industry jargon that normal people will never type.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;“White hat” search engine optimizers often improve the usability of a site, help create great content, or make sites faster, which is good for both users and search engines. Good search engine optimization can also mean good marketing: thinking about creative ways to make a site more compelling, which can help with search engines as well as social media. The net result of making a great site is often greater awareness of that site on the web, which can translate into more people linking to or visiting a site.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;The opposite of “white hat” SEO is something called “black hat webspam” (we say “webspam” to distinguish it from email spam). In the pursuit of higher rankings or traffic, a few sites use techniques that don’t benefit users, where the intent is to look for shortcuts or loopholes that would rank pages higher than they deserve to be ranked. We see all sorts of webspam techniques every day, from&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&amp;amp;answer=66358&quot; style=&quot;background-color: white; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;keyword stuffing&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;&amp;nbsp;to&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&amp;amp;answer=66356&quot; style=&quot;background-color: white; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;link schemes&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;&amp;nbsp;that attempt to propel sites higher in rankings.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;The goal of many of our ranking changes is to help searchers find sites that provide a great user experience and fulfill their information needs. We also want the “good guys” making great sites for users, not just algorithms, to see their effort rewarded. To that end we’ve launched&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2011/02/finding-more-high-quality-sites-in.html&quot; style=&quot;background-color: white; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;Panda changes&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;&amp;nbsp;that successfully&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg21228436.200-inside-search-engines-war-on-bad-results.html&quot; style=&quot;background-color: white; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;returned higher-quality sites in search results&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;. And earlier this year we launched a&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://insidesearch.blogspot.com/2012/01/page-layout-algorithm-improvement.html&quot; style=&quot;background-color: white; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;page layout algorithm&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;&amp;nbsp;that reduces rankings for sites that don’t make much content available “above the fold.”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;In the next few days, we’re launching an important algorithm change targeted at webspam. The change will decrease rankings for sites that we believe are violating Google’s existing&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&amp;amp;answer=35769#3&quot; style=&quot;background-color: white; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;quality guidelines&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;. We’ve always targeted webspam in our rankings, and this algorithm represents another improvement in our efforts to reduce webspam and promote high quality content. While we can&#39;t divulge specific signals because we don&#39;t want to give people a way to game our search results and worsen the experience for users, our advice for webmasters is to focus on&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2011/05/more-guidance-on-building-high-quality.html&quot; style=&quot;background-color: white; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;creating high quality sites&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;&amp;nbsp;that create a good user experience and employ white hat SEO methods instead of engaging in aggressive webspam tactics.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;Here’s an example of a webspam tactic like keyword stuffing taken from a site that will be affected by this change:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; text-align: center;&quot;&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6gc5wdkBrzC0H52vRudZCBfz9CwficJZtQrdOqu9Kqfv0Ca6I996bJQ4vfwwqQWlXb1k4meh4DdXF9ujUzfVJJa9RUCjZ-IY3DTdIsb_ge4aF3n5fTpvcasAbvDWzzkMpBfd2MxoCBAc/s1600/keyword-stuffing.png&quot; imageanchor=&quot;1&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img border=&quot;0&quot; height=&quot;199&quot; src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6gc5wdkBrzC0H52vRudZCBfz9CwficJZtQrdOqu9Kqfv0Ca6I996bJQ4vfwwqQWlXb1k4meh4DdXF9ujUzfVJJa9RUCjZ-IY3DTdIsb_ge4aF3n5fTpvcasAbvDWzzkMpBfd2MxoCBAc/s320/keyword-stuffing.png&quot; style=&quot;border: 1px solid rgb(204, 204, 204); padding: 4px;&quot; width=&quot;320&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;Of course, most sites affected by this change aren’t so blatant. Here’s an example of a site with unusual linking patterns that is also affected by this change. Notice that if you try to read the text aloud you’ll discover that the outgoing links are completely unrelated to the actual content, and in fact the page text has been “spun” beyond recognition:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;background-color: white; clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; text-align: center;&quot;&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvHibN-PK1AtEqrOcEdPGqqDPGX9RxMxrTR1LuPD72ga7y99b_FLp3d9mWsQyPN5fKV0CH3ZtWLzW4awwYwxR2r06zKFfl7ibdYZhWGEXHqp-ueD9XZynmDF_wGaGXafSmUncOZgyomSY/s1600/link-spam.png&quot; imageanchor=&quot;1&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img border=&quot;0&quot; height=&quot;212&quot; src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvHibN-PK1AtEqrOcEdPGqqDPGX9RxMxrTR1LuPD72ga7y99b_FLp3d9mWsQyPN5fKV0CH3ZtWLzW4awwYwxR2r06zKFfl7ibdYZhWGEXHqp-ueD9XZynmDF_wGaGXafSmUncOZgyomSY/s320/link-spam.png&quot; style=&quot;border: 1px solid rgb(204, 204, 204); padding: 4px;&quot; width=&quot;320&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;Sites affected by this change might not be easily recognizable as spamming without deep analysis or expertise, but the common thread is that these sites are doing much more than white hat SEO; we believe they are engaging in webspam tactics to manipulate search engine rankings.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;The change will go live for all languages at the same time. For context, the initial Panda change affected about 12% of queries to a significant degree; this algorithm affects about 3.1% of queries in English to a degree that a regular user might notice. The change affects roughly 3% of queries in languages such as German, Chinese, and Arabic, but the impact is higher in more heavily-spammed languages. For example, 5% of Polish queries change to a degree that a regular user might notice.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot;&gt;We want people doing white hat search engine optimization (or even no search engine optimization at all) to be free to focus on creating amazing, compelling web sites. As always, we’ll keep our ears open for feedback on ways to iterate and improve our ranking algorithms toward that goal.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;&quot; /&gt;&lt;span class=&quot;byline-author&quot; style=&quot;background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;&quot;&gt;Posted by&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href=&quot;https://plus.google.com/109412257237874861202/about&quot; rel=&quot;author&quot;&gt;Matt Cutts&lt;/a&gt;, Distinguished Engineer&lt;/span&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/feeds/6662221718063253994/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2012/10/another-step-to-reward-high-quality.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/6662221718063253994'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/6662221718063253994'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2012/10/another-step-to-reward-high-quality.html' title='Another step to reward high-quality sites'/><author><name>Anonymous</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/15243050312308309172</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='https://img1.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6gc5wdkBrzC0H52vRudZCBfz9CwficJZtQrdOqu9Kqfv0Ca6I996bJQ4vfwwqQWlXb1k4meh4DdXF9ujUzfVJJa9RUCjZ-IY3DTdIsb_ge4aF3n5fTpvcasAbvDWzzkMpBfd2MxoCBAc/s72-c/keyword-stuffing.png" height="72" width="72"/><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6969887791641234092.post-4597849457555473977</id><published>2012-03-14T23:46:00.001-07:00</published><updated>2012-03-14T23:46:19.619-07:00</updated><title type='text'>Farewell to soft 404s</title><content type='html'>We see two kinds of &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&amp;amp;answer=83040&quot; title=&quot;404 response code&quot;&gt;404 (&quot;File not found&quot;) responses&lt;/a&gt;  on the web: &quot;hard 404s&quot; and &quot;soft 404s.&quot; We discourage the use of  so-called &quot;soft 404s&quot; because they can be a confusing experience for  users and search engines. Instead of returning a 404 response code for a  non-existent URL, websites that serve &quot;soft 404s&quot; &lt;i&gt;return a 200 response code&lt;/i&gt;. The content of the 200 response is often the homepage of the site, or an error page.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
How  does a soft 404 look to the user? Here&#39;s a mockup of a soft 404: This  site returns a 200 response code and the site&#39;s homepage for URLs that  don&#39;t exist.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;div style=&quot;text-align: center;&quot;&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnC94ykbtJStSjE5dso59JbWw2QTjdwD7gWh5wtzk_Yx2-PNTbZRqideoel6xb0Yi0wCYsH8ob5ZWuA8ePlXpRzo-4p_tyXWu1P8etw41GhqKcGJhQZvk_yF8hH-v7L4YpOlkA8owqLxA/s1600-h/soft-404.png&quot;&gt;&lt;img alt=&quot;&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; id=&quot;BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5233713100516888402&quot; src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnC94ykbtJStSjE5dso59JbWw2QTjdwD7gWh5wtzk_Yx2-PNTbZRqideoel6xb0Yi0wCYsH8ob5ZWuA8ePlXpRzo-4p_tyXWu1P8etw41GhqKcGJhQZvk_yF8hH-v7L4YpOlkA8owqLxA/s400/soft-404.png&quot; style=&quot;cursor: hand; cursor: pointer;&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
As  exemplified above, soft 404s are confusing for users, and furthermore  search engines may spend much of their time crawling and indexing  non-existent, often duplicative URLs on your site. This can negatively  impact your site&#39;s crawl coverage—because of the time Googlebot spends  on non-existent pages, your unique URLs may not be discovered as quickly  or visited as frequently. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;What should you do instead of returning a soft 404?&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
It&#39;s much better to &lt;i&gt;return a 404 response code and clearly explain to users that the file wasn&#39;t found&lt;/i&gt;. This makes search engines and many users happy.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;div style=&quot;text-align: center;&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;Return 404 response code&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;div style=&quot;text-align: center;&quot;&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG7HpS2Iu9ISDd14LROnD-vWUyFe48XHG2VdgBwjbETIdDA23s-2LayKqsiZTjUNO16bTShX3IGJURDOEmEKAHW7K38QRqB_lPVjJSbH6DDnX2D9Z1K5EYmuJuCAJCNTM8c0rd4RFWlMo/s1600-h/happy-googlebot-404.png&quot;&gt;&lt;img alt=&quot;&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; id=&quot;BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5233754692362228770&quot; src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG7HpS2Iu9ISDd14LROnD-vWUyFe48XHG2VdgBwjbETIdDA23s-2LayKqsiZTjUNO16bTShX3IGJURDOEmEKAHW7K38QRqB_lPVjJSbH6DDnX2D9Z1K5EYmuJuCAJCNTM8c0rd4RFWlMo/s400/happy-googlebot-404.png&quot; style=&quot;cursor: hand; cursor: pointer;&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;How do you treat the response code 410 &quot;Gone&quot;?&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Just like a 404.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Do you index content or follow links from a page with a 404 response code?&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
We  aim to understand as much as possible about your site and its content.  So while we wouldn&#39;t want to show a hard 404 to users in search results,  we may utilize a 404&#39;s content or links if it&#39;s detected as a signal to  help us better understand your site.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Keep in mind that if you want links crawled or content indexed, it&#39;s far more beneficial to include them in a non-404 page.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;What about 404s with a 10-second meta refresh?&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Yahoo! currently utilizes this method on their 404s. They &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.yahoo.com/this-is-a-404&quot;&gt;respond with a 404&lt;/a&gt;, but the 404 content also shows:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style=&quot;font-family: Courier New;&quot;&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
We  feel this technique is fine because it reduces confusion by giving  users 10 seconds to make a new selection, only offering the homepage  after 10 seconds without the user&#39;s input.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Should I 301-redirect misspelled 404s to the correct URL?&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Redirecting/301-ing  404s is a good idea when it&#39;s helpful to users (i.e. not confusing like  soft 404s). For instance, if you notice that the &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&amp;amp;answer=35120&quot;&gt;Crawl Errors&lt;/a&gt;  of Webmaster Tools shows a 404 for a misspelled version of your URL,  feel free to 301 the misspelled version of the URL to the correct  version.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
For example, if we saw this 404 in Crawl Errors:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style=&quot;font-family: Courier New;&quot;&gt;http://www.google.com/webmsters&lt;/span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &amp;lt;-- typo for &quot;webmasters&quot;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
we  may first correct the typo if it exists on our own site, then 301 the  URL to the correct version (as the broken link may occur elsewhere on  the web):&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style=&quot;font-family: Courier New;&quot;&gt;http://www.google.com/webmasters&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Have you guys seen any good 404s?&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Yes,  we have! (Confession: no one asked us this question, but few things are  as fun to discuss as response codes. :) We&#39;ve put together a list of  some of our favorite 404 pages. Fear not, my young padawan. Let’s take a look at 404s and how they do (or do not) affect your site:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style=&quot;font-weight: bold;&quot;&gt;Q: Do the 404 errors reported in Webmaster Tools affect my site’s ranking?&lt;br /&gt;
A:&lt;/span&gt;  404s are a perfectly normal part of the web; the Internet is always  changing, new content is born, old content dies, and when it dies it  (ideally) returns a 404 HTTP response code. Search engines are aware of  this; we have 404 errors on our own sites, as you can see above, and we  find them all over the web. In fact, we actually &lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic;&quot;&gt;prefer&lt;/span&gt;  that, when you get rid of a page on your site, you make sure that it  returns a proper 404 or 410 response code (rather than a “soft 404”).  Keep in mind that in order for our crawler to see the HTTP response code  of a URL, it has to be able to crawl that URL—if the URL is blocked by  your robots.txt file we won’t be able to crawl it and see its response  code. The fact that some URLs on your site no longer exist / return 404s  does not affect how your site’s other URLs (the ones that return &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=40132&quot;&gt;200 (Successful)&lt;/a&gt;) perform in our search results.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style=&quot;font-weight: bold;&quot;&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Q: So 404s don’t hurt my website at all?&lt;br /&gt;
A:&lt;/span&gt;  If some URLs on your site 404, this fact alone does not hurt you or  count against you in Google’s search results. However, there may be  other reasons that you’d want to address certain types of 404s. For  example, if some of the pages that 404 are pages you actually care  about, you should look into why we’re seeing 404s when we crawl them! If  you see a misspelling of a legitimate URL (&lt;span style=&quot;font-family: monospace;&quot;&gt;www.example.com/awsome&lt;/span&gt; instead of &lt;span style=&quot;font-family: monospace;&quot;&gt;www.example.com/awesome&lt;/span&gt;),  it’s likely that someone intended to link to you and simply made a  typo. Instead of returning a 404, you could 301 redirect the misspelled  URL to the correct URL and capture the intended traffic from that link.  You can also make sure that, when users do land on a 404 page on your  site, you &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=136085&quot;&gt;help them find what they were looking for&lt;/a&gt; rather than just saying “404 Not found.&quot;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style=&quot;font-weight: bold;&quot;&gt;Q: Tell me more about “soft 404s.”&lt;br /&gt;
A:&lt;/span&gt; A &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=181708&quot;&gt;soft 404&lt;/a&gt;  is when a web server returns a response code other than 404 (or 410)  for a URL that doesn’t exist. A common example is when a site owner  wants to return &lt;a href=&quot;http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2008/08/make-your-404-pages-more-useful.html&quot;&gt;a pretty 404 page with helpful information for his users&lt;/a&gt;,  and thinks that in order to serve content to users he has to return a  200 response code. Not so! You can return a 404 response code &lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic;&quot;&gt;while&lt;/span&gt;  serving whatever content you want. Another example is when a site  redirects any unknown URLs to their homepage instead of returning 404s.  Both of these cases can have negative effects on our understanding and  indexing of your site, so we recommend making sure your server returns  the proper response codes for nonexistent content. Keep in mind that &lt;span style=&quot;font-weight: bold;&quot;&gt;just because a page &lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic;&quot;&gt;says&lt;/span&gt; “404 Not Found,” doesn’t mean it’s actually returning a 404 HTTP response code&lt;/span&gt;—use the &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=158587&quot;&gt;Fetch as Googlebot&lt;/a&gt;  feature in Webmaster Tools to double-check. If you don’t know how to  configure your server to return the right response codes, check out your  web host’s help documentation.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style=&quot;font-weight: bold;&quot;&gt;Q: How do I know whether a URL should 404, or 301, or 410?&lt;br /&gt;
A:&lt;/span&gt;  When you remove a page from your site, think about whether that content  is moving somewhere else, or whether you no longer plan to have that  type of content on your site. If you’re moving that content to a new  URL, you should 301 redirect the old URL to the new URL—that way when  users come to the old URL looking for that content, they’ll be  automatically redirected to something relevant to what they were looking  for. If you’re getting rid of that content entirely and don’t have  anything on your site that would fill the same user need, then the old  URL should return a 404 or 410. Currently Google treats 410s (Gone) the  same as 404s (Not found), so it’s immaterial to us whether you return  one or the other.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style=&quot;font-weight: bold;&quot;&gt;Q: Most of my 404s are for bizarro URLs that never existed on my site. What’s up with that? Where did they come from?&lt;br /&gt;
A:&lt;/span&gt;  If Google finds a link somewhere on the web that points to a URL on  your domain, it may try to crawl that link, whether any content actually  exists there or not; and when it does, your server &lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic;&quot;&gt;should&lt;/span&gt;  return a 404 if there’s nothing there to find. These links could be  caused by someone making a typo when linking to you, some type of  misconfiguration (if the links are automatically generated, e.g. by a  CMS), or by Google’s increased efforts to recognize and crawl links  embedded in JavaScript or other embedded content; or they may be part of  a quick check from our side to see how your server handles unknown  URLs, to name just a few. If you see 404s reported in Webmaster Tools  for URLs that don’t exist on your site, you can safely ignore them. We  don’t know which URLs are important to you vs. which are supposed to  404, so we show you &lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic;&quot;&gt;all&lt;/span&gt; the 404s we found on your site and let you decide which, if any, require your attention.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;span style=&quot;font-weight: bold;&quot;&gt;Q:  Someone has scraped my site and caused a bunch of 404s in the process.  They’re all “real” URLs with other code tacked on, like &lt;span style=&quot;color: #3333ff; text-decoration: underline;&quot;&gt;http://www.example.com/images/kittens.jpg&quot; width=&quot;100&quot; height=&quot;300&quot; alt=&quot;kittens&quot;/&amp;gt; Will this hurt my site?&lt;br /&gt;
A:&lt;/span&gt;  Generally you don’t need to worry about “broken links” like this  hurting your site. We understand that site owners have little to no  control over people who scrape their site, or who link to them in  strange ways. If you’re a whiz with the &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/search?q=define:regex&quot;&gt;regex&lt;/a&gt;, you could consider redirecting these URLs &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=4ec2d1220ac304a3&amp;amp;hl=en&quot;&gt;as described here&lt;/a&gt;, but generally it’s not worth worrying about. Remember that you can also file a &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/dmca.html&quot;&gt;takedown request&lt;/a&gt; when you believe someone is stealing original content from your website.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Q:  Last week I fixed all the 404s that Webmaster Tools reported, but  they’re still listed in my account. Does this mean I didn’t fix them  correctly? How long will it take for them to disappear?&lt;br /&gt;
A:&lt;/b&gt; Take a  look at the ‘Detected’ column on the Crawl errors page—this is the most  recent date on which we detected each error. If the date(s) in that  column are from before the time you fixed the errors, that means we  haven’t encountered these errors since that date. If the dates are more  recent, it means we’re continuing to see these 404s when we crawl.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
After implementing a fix, you can check whether our crawler is seeing the new response code by using &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=158587&quot;&gt;Fetch as Googlebot&lt;/a&gt;. Test a few URLs and, if they look good, these errors should soon start to disappear from your list of Crawl errors.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Q: Can I use Google’s URL removal tool to make 404 errors disappear from my account faster?&lt;br /&gt;
A:&lt;/b&gt;  No; the URL removal tool removes URLs from Google’s search results, not  from your Webmaster Tools account. It’s designed for urgent removal  requests only, and using it isn’t necessary when a URL already returns a  404, as such a URL will drop out of our search results naturally over  time. See the bottom half of &lt;a href=&quot;http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2010/05/url-removal-explained-part-iv-tracking.html&quot;&gt;this blog post&lt;/a&gt; for more details on what the URL removal tool can and can’t do for you.&lt;br /&gt;

Rather than scrolling down the page past a slew of ads, users want to see content right away. So sites that don’t have much content “above-the-fold” can be affected by this change. If you click on a website and the part of the website you see first either doesn’t have a lot of visible content above-the-fold or dedicates a large fraction of the site’s initial screen real estate to ads, that’s not a very good user experience. Such sites may not rank as highly going forward.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;We understand that placing ads above-the-fold is quite common for many websites; these ads often perform well and help publishers monetize online content. This algorithmic change does not affect sites who place ads above-the-fold to a normal degree, but affects sites that go much further to load the top of the page with ads to an excessive degree or that make it hard to find the actual original content on the page. This new algorithmic improvement tends to impact sites where there is only a small amount of visible content above-the-fold or relevant content is persistently pushed down by large blocks of ads. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;This algorithmic change noticeably affects less than 1% of searches globally. That means that in less than one in 100 searches, a typical user might notice a reordering of results on the search page. If you believe that your website has been affected by the page layout algorithm change, consider how your web pages use the area above-the-fold and whether the content on the page is obscured or otherwise hard for users to discern quickly. You can use our &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://browsersize.googlelabs.com/&quot; style=&quot;font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;Browser Size&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt; tool, among &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/screen%20resolution&quot; style=&quot;font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;many others&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;, to see how your website would look under different screen resolutions.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;If you decide to update your page layout, the page layout algorithm will automatically reflect the changes as we re-crawl and process enough pages from your site to assess the changes. How long that takes will depend on several factors, including the number of pages on your site and how efficiently Googlebot can crawl the content. On a typical website, it can take several weeks for Googlebot to crawl and process enough pages to reflect layout changes on the site.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;&lt;br style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;Overall, our advice for publishers &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&amp;amp;v=R7Yv6DzHBvE#t=1186s&quot; style=&quot;font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;continues to be to focus on delivering the best possible user experience&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt; on your websites and not to focus on specific algorithm tweaks. This change is just one of the over 500 improvements we expect to roll out to search this year. Sometimes that means results from the public web, but sometimes it means your personal content or things shared with you by people you care about. These wonderful people and this rich personal content is currently missing from your search experience. Search is still limited to a universe of webpages created publicly, mostly by people you’ve never met. Today, we’re changing that by bringing your world, rich with people and information, into search.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Search is pretty amazing at finding that one needle in a haystack of billions of webpages, images, videos, news and much more. But clearly, that isn’t enough. You should also be able to find your own stuff on the web, the people you know and things they’ve shared with you, as well as the people you don’t know but might want to... all from one search box.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We’re transforming Google into a search engine that understands not only content, but also people and relationships. We began this transformation with &lt;a href=&quot;http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/10/introducing-google-social-search-i.html&quot;&gt;Social Search&lt;/a&gt;, and today we’re taking another big step in this direction by introducing three new features:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;b&gt;Personal Results&lt;/b&gt;, which enable you to find information just for you, such as Google+ photos and posts—both your own and those shared specifically with you, that only you will be able to see on your results page; &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;b&gt;Profiles in Search&lt;/b&gt;, both in autocomplete and results, which enable you to immediately find people you’re close to or might be interested in following; and, &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;b&gt;People and Pages&lt;/b&gt;, which help you find people profiles and Google+ pages related to a specific topic or area of interest, and enable you to follow them with just a few clicks. Because behind most every query is a community. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt; Together, these features combine to create Search plus Your World. Search is simply better with your world in it, and we’re just getting started.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style=&quot;text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Personal Results&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Say you’re looking for a vacation destination. You can of course search the web, but what if you want to learn from the experiences your friends have had on their vacations? Just as in real life, your friends’ experiences are often so much more meaningful to you than impersonal content on the web. With your world in search, you can find:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;b&gt;Google+ posts. &lt;/b&gt;You can find relevant Google+ posts from friends talking about an amazing trip they just took, whether they’ve shared privately with you or publicly. You’ll find links shared by your friends, such as activities, restaurants and other things they enjoyed on their trip. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;b&gt;Photos. &lt;/b&gt;You can find beautiful vacation photos from your friends right in your search results page. You can also find your own private photos from Google+ and Picasa, based on captions, comments and album title. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt; &lt;b&gt;Personal Results: a family story &lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As a child, my favorite fruit was &lt;a href=&quot;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manilkara_zapota&quot;&gt;Chikoo&lt;/a&gt;, which is exceptionally sweet and tasty. A few years back when getting a family dog, we decided to name our sweet little puppy after my favorite fruit. Over the years we have privately shared many pictures of Chikoo (our dog) with our family. To me, the query [chikoo] means two very sweet and different things, and today’s improvements give me the magical experience of finding both the Chikoos I love, right in the results page.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;clear: both; text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBhhuFHccwiPwbcqXnl2-0C2Ne1-pVl8E_5oPuFrjEtw-1DY_pm6nEdVHlCWUFZkzAB-9tyXm8TRbczIFSNuM8kGXbSyyEGaE6CRmrT_vbhAS_bzJVKYqWQyhD6w0PJnDKk6DWsHEeHFQ/s1600/Personal+Results.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBhhuFHccwiPwbcqXnl2-0C2Ne1-pVl8E_5oPuFrjEtw-1DY_pm6nEdVHlCWUFZkzAB-9tyXm8TRbczIFSNuM8kGXbSyyEGaE6CRmrT_vbhAS_bzJVKYqWQyhD6w0PJnDKk6DWsHEeHFQ/s400/Personal+Results.png&quot; height=&quot;259&quot; width=&quot;400&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is search that truly knows me, and gives me a result page that only I can see. And while I get a nice mix of personal results with results from the web, I can also click the link at the top of the results page (red arrow) for the option to search only within my world.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Profiles in Search &lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Every day, there are hundreds of millions of searches for people. Sometimes, it’s hard to find the person you’re looking for. Once you do find him or her, there’s no quick way for you to actually interact. Starting today, you’ll have meaningful ways to connect with people instantly, right from the search results.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now, typing just the first few letters of your friend’s name brings up a personalized profile prediction in autocomplete. Selecting a predicted profile takes you to a results page for your friend, which includes information from their Google+ profile and relevant web results that may be related to them. And you can have this personal experience instantaneously, thanks to Google Instant. So when I search for [ben smith], I now find my dear friend Ben every time, instead of the hundreds of other Ben Smiths out there (no offense to all of them!).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;clear: both; text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiABMZTYRbDJbq5JvtFBJiuFgNrUJV96fBI2ynUcp_rKUP2EZeZRkI8BsfANKca2Do5DQP0rL-ZK6oUp-xxwdwQNSv5m-X9xUy_jHWnqLaagJNMYZCrdng0NTwBC_d9WfATP36LjKcB_U0/s1600/07+ben+smith+-+suggest.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiABMZTYRbDJbq5JvtFBJiuFgNrUJV96fBI2ynUcp_rKUP2EZeZRkI8BsfANKca2Do5DQP0rL-ZK6oUp-xxwdwQNSv5m-X9xUy_jHWnqLaagJNMYZCrdng0NTwBC_d9WfATP36LjKcB_U0/s400/07+ben+smith+-+suggest.png&quot; height=&quot;302&quot; width=&quot;400&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In addition, you’ll find profile autocomplete predictions for various prominent people from Google+, such as high-quality authors from our &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/insidesearch/authorship.html&quot;&gt;authorship pilot program&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;clear: both; text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHW0WGuduf-YewH39X0sADCPBY5GaU7IhYGwro2R5PH3TWDcEIRtW2FqDCN57NHpd9MspMMnuXlyZZoPG7aKOcSSi30jMEYXiKq_q4mMBT7qal6yy9Fd4qoHC9klFtMuTZzEOnCIR1cks/s1600/09+trey+ratcliff+-+suggest.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHW0WGuduf-YewH39X0sADCPBY5GaU7IhYGwro2R5PH3TWDcEIRtW2FqDCN57NHpd9MspMMnuXlyZZoPG7aKOcSSi30jMEYXiKq_q4mMBT7qal6yy9Fd4qoHC9klFtMuTZzEOnCIR1cks/s400/09+trey+ratcliff+-+suggest.png&quot; height=&quot;258&quot; width=&quot;400&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Once you select that profile, if you’re a signed-in Google+ user, you’ll also see a button to add them to your circles right on your search results page.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;clear: both; text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHqYZZY5Dd9fIrpxnU3OmX5GJ25WFfKLEoNjs9EhrFBF81ZKEkXAOzDpb0MhU2DlMol7s3Ue4-sO2GypBv-xcTeXzerek4cqCz2ShICa2Fvw3s8CJFCbE_MHk8piR9RzNA2uPPDvyhpW4/s1600/Profiles+in+Search+2.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHqYZZY5Dd9fIrpxnU3OmX5GJ25WFfKLEoNjs9EhrFBF81ZKEkXAOzDpb0MhU2DlMol7s3Ue4-sO2GypBv-xcTeXzerek4cqCz2ShICa2Fvw3s8CJFCbE_MHk8piR9RzNA2uPPDvyhpW4/s400/Profiles+in+Search+2.png&quot; height=&quot;388&quot; width=&quot;400&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;People and Pages &lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As I mentioned earlier, behind most queries are communities. Starting today, if you search for a topic like [music] or [baseball], you might see prominent people who frequently discuss this topic on Google+ appearing on the right-hand side of the results page. You can connect with them on Google+, strike up meaningful conversations and discover entire communities in a way that simply wasn’t possible before.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;clear: both; text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQXMBgmUtaYKIRwhgsgMYhE5WkQHIg2dPfCushoO3PsGh9qe6TYUTfQrh6zG5R1ep3n2CcI1Zjedq6t2NCOGzclcJ3miCGzaSYIgRXH5tiORcA_PwYsub4fLcvpVJDTE8f_2L5Dj_aN8Q/s1600/People+and+Pages.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQXMBgmUtaYKIRwhgsgMYhE5WkQHIg2dPfCushoO3PsGh9qe6TYUTfQrh6zG5R1ep3n2CcI1Zjedq6t2NCOGzclcJ3miCGzaSYIgRXH5tiORcA_PwYsub4fLcvpVJDTE8f_2L5Dj_aN8Q/s400/People+and+Pages.png&quot; height=&quot;400&quot; width=&quot;300&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Unprecedented security, transparency and control &lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When it comes to security and privacy, we set a high bar for Search plus Your World. Since some of the information you’ll now find in search results, including Google+ posts and private photos, is already secured by &lt;a href=&quot;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Sockets_Layer&quot;&gt;SSL encryption&lt;/a&gt; on Google+, we have decided that the results page should also have the same level of security and privacy protection. That&#39;s part of why we were the first major search engine to &lt;a href=&quot;http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2011/10/making-search-more-secure.html&quot;&gt;turn on search via SSL by default for signed-in users&lt;/a&gt; last year. This means when you’re signed in to Google, your search results—including your private content—are protected by the same high standards of encryption as your messages in Gmail.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We also want to be transparent about how our features work and give you control over how to use them. With today’s changes, we provide interface elements and control settings like those you’ll find in Google+. For example, personal results are clearly marked as Public, Limited or Only you. Additionally, people in your results are clearly marked with the Google+ circle they are in, or as suggested connections.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We’re also introducing a prominent new toggle on the upper right of the results page where you can see what your search results look like without personal content. With a single click, you can see an unpersonalized view of search results.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;clear: both; text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNr9XNPTOCbuxm53IMzhWJAPlG3CGSRfSj0CuVjawfemj9vxKS1gBqKmgwpW-jxA3L0dBi5QYtgUiD1D0nPyuCBT34K3iGFKtasPvna91SQrl3sAPDMm1ARISk-uDxPiEZL0rpSdUy23s/s1600/Toggle.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNr9XNPTOCbuxm53IMzhWJAPlG3CGSRfSj0CuVjawfemj9vxKS1gBqKmgwpW-jxA3L0dBi5QYtgUiD1D0nPyuCBT34K3iGFKtasPvna91SQrl3sAPDMm1ARISk-uDxPiEZL0rpSdUy23s/s400/Toggle.png&quot; height=&quot;58&quot; width=&quot;400&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That means no results from your friends, no private information and no personalization of results based on your &lt;a href=&quot;http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&amp;amp;answer=54068&quot;&gt;Web History&lt;/a&gt;. This toggle button works for an individual search session, but you can also make this the default in your &lt;a href=&quot;https://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en&quot;&gt;Search Settings&lt;/a&gt;. We provide separate control in Search Settings over other &lt;a href=&quot;http://insidesearch.blogspot.com/2011/11/some-thoughts-on-personalization.html&quot;&gt;contextual signals we use&lt;/a&gt;, including location and language.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That&#39;s unprecedented transparency and control over personal search results.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;A beautiful journey begins &lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Search plus Your World will become available over the next few days to people who are signed in and searching on &lt;a href=&quot;https://www.google.com/&quot;&gt;https://www.google.com&lt;/a&gt; in English.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;While there may be 7 billion people and 197 million square miles on Earth, a septillion stars and a trillion webpages, we spend our short, precious lives living in a particular town, with particular friends and family, orbiting a single star and relying on a tiny slice of the world’s information. Our dream is to have technology enable everyone to experience the richness of all their information and people around them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We named our company after the mathematical number &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/search?gcx=c&amp;amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;amp;q=define+googol&quot;&gt;googol&lt;/a&gt; as an aspiration toward indexing the countless answers on webpages, but that’s only part of the picture. The other part is &lt;i&gt;people&lt;/i&gt;, and that’s what Search plus Your World is all about.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class=&quot;byline-author&quot;&gt;Posted by &lt;a href=&quot;http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2012/01/search-plus-your-world.html&quot;&gt;Amit Singhal, Google Fellow&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/feeds/6205695366589042040/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2012/01/search-plus-your-world.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/6205695366589042040'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/6205695366589042040'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2012/01/search-plus-your-world.html' title='Search, plus Your World'/><author><name>Anonymous</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/15243050312308309172</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='https://img1.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBhhuFHccwiPwbcqXnl2-0C2Ne1-pVl8E_5oPuFrjEtw-1DY_pm6nEdVHlCWUFZkzAB-9tyXm8TRbczIFSNuM8kGXbSyyEGaE6CRmrT_vbhAS_bzJVKYqWQyhD6w0PJnDKk6DWsHEeHFQ/s72-c/Personal+Results.png" height="72" width="72"/><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6969887791641234092.post-2038826155944964816</id><published>2012-01-03T03:23:00.000-08:00</published><updated>2012-01-03T03:29:12.251-08:00</updated><category scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Searchengine"/><title type='text'>StatCounter Global Stats - Browser, OS, Search Engine including Mobile Market Share</title><content type='html'>&lt;div id=&quot;search_engine-ww-monthly-200807-201112&quot; width=&quot;500&quot; height=&quot;350&quot; style=&quot;width:500px; height: 350px;&quot;&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- You may change the values of width and height above to resize the chart --&gt;&lt;p&gt;Source: &lt;a href=&quot;http://gs.statcounter.com/#search_engine-ww-monthly-200807-201112&quot;&gt;StatCounter Global Stats - Search Engine Market Share&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;script type=&quot;text/javascript&quot; src=&quot;http://www.statcounter.com/js/FusionCharts.js&quot;&gt;&lt;/script&gt;&lt;script type=&quot;text/javascript&quot; src=&quot;http://gs.statcounter.com/chart.php?search_engine-ww-monthly-200807-201112&quot;&gt;&lt;/script&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/feeds/2038826155944964816/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2012/01/statcounter-global-stats-browser-os.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/2038826155944964816'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/2038826155944964816'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2012/01/statcounter-global-stats-browser-os.html' title='StatCounter Global Stats - Browser, OS, Search Engine including Mobile Market Share'/><author><name>Anonymous</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/15243050312308309172</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='https://img1.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6969887791641234092.post-2182617957900590382</id><published>2011-12-06T20:26:00.000-08:00</published><updated>2011-12-06T20:26:13.392-08:00</updated><title type='text'>Official Google Blog: A new frontier for Google Maps: mapping the indoor...</title><content type='html'>“Where am I?” and “What’s around me?” are two questions that cartographers, and &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/maps&quot;&gt;Google Maps&lt;/a&gt;, strive to answer. With Google Maps’ “&lt;a href=&quot;http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2007/11/new-magical-blue-circle-on-your-map.html&quot;&gt;My Location&lt;/a&gt;” feature, which shows your location as a blue dot, you can see where you are on the map to avoid walking the wrong direction on city streets, or to get your bearings if you’re hiking an unfamiliar trail. Google Maps also displays additional details, such as places, landmarks and geographical features, to give you context about what’s nearby. And now, Google Maps for Android enables you to figure out where you are and see where you might want to go when you’re indoors.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When you’re inside an airport, shopping mall or retail store, a common way to figure out where you are is to look for a freestanding map directory or ask an employee for help. Starting today, with the release of &lt;a href=&quot;http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2011/11/go-indoors-with-google-maps-60-for.html&quot;&gt;Google Maps 6.0 for Android&lt;/a&gt;, that directory is brought to the palm of your hands, helping you determine where you are, what floor you&#39;re on, and where to go indoors.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Detailed floor plans automatically appear when you’re viewing the map and zoomed in on a building where indoor map data is available. The familiar “blue dot” icon indicates your location within several meters, and when you move up or down a level in a building with multiple floors, the interface will automatically update to display which floor you’re on. All this is achieved by using an approach similar to that of ‘My Location’ for outdoor spaces, but fine tuned for indoors.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzEFmqFDvJ15HzPuZyrRX7hOlDgeb7maoaHXruBcByNKjGuIa2JLMGTFnWrPFSO5xF7Zvh_uW6kuOVpfhCc4R13q6pNZE-MeUc7IweZwSZGKGFGY_kEcW2Oy97pspuhzFafkisPn5z-i6x/s1600/moa_before-after.jpg&quot;&gt;&lt;img alt=&quot;&quot; id=&quot;BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5680285778222559458&quot; src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzEFmqFDvJ15HzPuZyrRX7hOlDgeb7maoaHXruBcByNKjGuIa2JLMGTFnWrPFSO5xF7Zvh_uW6kuOVpfhCc4R13q6pNZE-MeUc7IweZwSZGKGFGY_kEcW2Oy97pspuhzFafkisPn5z-i6x/s400/moa_before-after.jpg&quot; style=&quot;cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 351px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;span class=&quot;Apple-style-span&quot;&gt;Mall of America in Minneapolis before and after, with a floor selector&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;span class=&quot;Apple-style-span&quot;&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSRQLe5Ol1O1Ix7F2mu05RzVNsqlozaSSPYM4iXiVmxohWoOQo2NHxIqJB_lzFn0aUME4gx0K3_1osdQeh1NIGHcDzCCopDN2ldrKP8B3PjI7JY9Q5RClerP-SU5D30y3BAB8Eni1dpged/s1600/sfo-before-after.png&quot;&gt;&lt;img alt=&quot;&quot; id=&quot;BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5680459650996632162&quot; src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSRQLe5Ol1O1Ix7F2mu05RzVNsqlozaSSPYM4iXiVmxohWoOQo2NHxIqJB_lzFn0aUME4gx0K3_1osdQeh1NIGHcDzCCopDN2ldrKP8B3PjI7JY9Q5RClerP-SU5D30y3BAB8Eni1dpged/s400/sfo-before-after.png&quot; style=&quot;cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 316px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;span class=&quot;Apple-style-span&quot;&gt;San Francisco International Airport before and after, with 3D tilt&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We’ve initially partnered with some of the largest retailers, airports and transit stations in the U.S. and Japan, including:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;Mall of America, IKEA, The Home Depot, select Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s, Daimaru, Takashimaya and Mitsukoshi locations and more. A federal judge in Nevada has agreed that Chanel can seize the domain names in question and transfer them all to US-based registrar GoDaddy. The judge also ordered &quot;all Internet search engines&quot; and &quot;all social media websites&quot;—explicitly naming Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Bing, Yahoo, and Google—to &quot;de-index&quot; the domain names and to remove them from any search results.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.308em; margin-left: 0px; &quot;&gt;The case has been a remarkable one. Concerned about counterfeiting, Chanel has filed a joint suit in Nevada against nearly 700 domain names that appear to have nothing in common. When Chanel finds more names, it simply uses the same case and files new requests for more seizures. (A &lt;a href=&quot;http://servingnotice.com/sdv/038%20-%20Order%20Granting%20Second%20TRO.PDF&quot; style=&quot;color: rgb(255, 91, 0); text-decoration: none; &quot;&gt;recent November 14 order&lt;/a&gt; went after an additional 228 sites; none had a chance to contest the request until after it was approved and the names had been seized.)&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.308em; margin-left: 0px; &quot;&gt;How were the sites investigated? For the most recent batch of names, Chanel hired a Nevada investigator to order from three of the 228 sites in question. When the orders arrived, they were reviewed by a Chanel official and declared counterfeit. The other 225 sites were seized based on a Chanel anti-counterfeiting specialist browsing the Web.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.308em; margin-left: 0px; &quot;&gt;That was good enough for Judge Kent Dawson to order the names seized and transferred to GoDaddy, where they would all redirect to a page &lt;a href=&quot;http://servingnotice.com/sdv/&quot; style=&quot;color: rgb(255, 91, 0); text-decoration: none; &quot;&gt;serving notice of the seizure&lt;/a&gt;. In addition, a total ban on search engine indexing was ordered, one which neither Bing nor Google appears to have complied with yet.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.308em; margin-left: 0px; &quot;&gt;Missing from the ruling is any discussion of the Internet&#39;s global nature; the judge shows no awareness that the domains in question might not even be registered in this country, for instance, and his ban on search engine and social media indexing apparently extends to the entire world. (And, when applied to US-based companies like Twitter, apparently compels them to censor the links globally rather than only when accessed by people in the US.) Indeed, a cursory search through the list of offending domains turns up poshmoda.ws, a site registered in Germany. The German registrar has not yet complied with the US court order, though most other domain names on the list are .com or .net names and have been seized.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.308em; margin-left: 0px; &quot;&gt;The US government has made similar domain name seizures through &lt;a href=&quot;http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2011/01/crime-is-crime-meet-the-internet-police.ars&quot; style=&quot;color: rgb(255, 91, 0); text-decoration: none; &quot;&gt;Operation In Our Sites&lt;/a&gt;, grabbing US-based domains that end in .com and .net even when the sites are located abroad. Such moves by themselves would seem to do little to stop piracy in the long-term; they simply teach would-be miscreants to register future domain names in other countries.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h3 style=&quot;line-height: 1.308em; &quot;&gt;Why wait for SOPA?&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.308em; margin-left: 0px; &quot;&gt;Lawyer Venkat Balasubramani, &lt;a href=&quot;http://blog.ericgoldman.org/archives/2011/11/court_oks_priva.htm&quot; style=&quot;color: rgb(255, 91, 0); text-decoration: none; &quot;&gt;writing about the case yesterday&lt;/a&gt;, sums it up eloquently: &quot;Wow.&quot;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.308em; margin-left: 0px; &quot;&gt;&quot;I&#39;m sympathetic to the &#39;whack-a-mole&#39; problem rights owners face, but this relief is just extraordinarily broad and is on shaky procedural grounds,&quot; he writes. &quot;I&#39;m not sure how this court can direct a registry to change a domain name&#39;s registrar of record or Google to de-list a site, but the court does so anyway. This is probably the most problematic aspect of the court&#39;s orders.&quot;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.308em; margin-left: 0px; &quot;&gt;Rightsholders have asked Congress to write these provisions (and a few more) into law, and they have pushed for government seizures like those from Operation In Our Sites (which just &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.ice.gov/news/releases/1111/111128washingtondc.htm&quot; style=&quot;color: rgb(255, 91, 0); text-decoration: none; &quot;&gt;seized another batch of new domains&lt;/a&gt; this last weekend). But as Balasubramani points out, cases like Chanel&#39;s show that rightsholders can already get what they want from judges, and they can go after far more sites more quickly than the government.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.308em; margin-left: 0px; &quot;&gt;&quot;The fight against &lt;a href=&quot;http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2011/10/house-takes-senates-bad-internet-censorship-bill-makes-it-worse.ars&quot; style=&quot;color: rgb(255, 91, 0); text-decoration: none; &quot;&gt;SOPA [the Stop Online Piracy Act]&lt;/a&gt; may be a red herring in some ways,&quot; he notes, &quot;since IP plaintiffs are fashioning very similar remedies in court irrespective of the legislation. Thus, even if SOPA is defeated, it may turn out to be a Pyrrhic victory—opponents may win the battle but may not have gained much as a result.&quot;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/feeds/8489492250473941661/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/11/us-judge-orders-hundreds-of-sites-de.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/8489492250473941661'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/8489492250473941661'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/11/us-judge-orders-hundreds-of-sites-de.html' title='US judge orders hundreds of sites &quot;de-indexed&quot; from Google, Facebook'/><author><name>Anonymous</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/15243050312308309172</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='https://img1.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6969887791641234092.post-6626560531009136924</id><published>2011-11-30T07:45:00.000-08:00</published><updated>2011-11-30T07:45:25.592-08:00</updated><title type='text'>Official Google Blog: The next stage in our redesign</title><content type='html'>&lt;span class=&quot;Apple-style-span&quot; style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;Six months ago we started rolling out &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2011/06/evolving-google-design-and-experience.html&quot; style=&quot;font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt;a new look&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span class=&quot;Apple-style-span&quot; style=&quot;color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); &quot;&gt; and feel for Search, News, Maps, Translate, Gmail and a bunch of other products. Millions of organizations using Google Apps can now use Google+ on their business and university accounts, and we launched a couple Apps-related Google+ Pages ourselves.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Gmail’s new look&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Back in July we &lt;a href=&quot;http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2011/06/preview-of-gmails-new-look.html&quot;&gt;previewed&lt;/a&gt; Gmail’s new look, and a couple weeks ago we started letting people &lt;a href=&quot;http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/gmails-new-look.html&quot;&gt;switch to the new design&lt;/a&gt; with one click. The refreshed interface makes it easier to follow conversations and spot the sender with profile pictures for each message. The new look also supports &lt;a href=&quot;http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/changing-information-density-in-gmails.html&quot;&gt;dynamic screen densities&lt;/a&gt;, so Gmail displays properly whether you’re viewing on a large desktop monitor or a smaller mobile screen. We also added a selection of beautiful &lt;a href=&quot;http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/improving-themes-in-gmails-new-look.html&quot;&gt;HD themes&lt;/a&gt; to the existing gallery. Finally, we made it easier to perform advanced email searches using a panel of powerful search options that reveals with a single click.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;iframe src=&quot;http://www.youtube.com/embed/vfW5e6jVsMs&quot; allowfullscreen=&quot;&quot; width=&quot;560&quot; frameborder=&quot;0&quot; height=&quot;315&quot;&gt;&lt;/iframe&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Gmail app for iOS devices&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This month we introduced the &lt;a href=&quot;http://itunes.apple.com/app/gmail/id422689480?mt=8&quot;&gt;Gmail app&lt;/a&gt; for &lt;a href=&quot;http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/introducing-gmail-app-for-iphone-ipad.html&quot;&gt;the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch&lt;/a&gt;, complete with mobile alerts for new mail, a responsive touch screen interface and Gmail mainstays like fast search, conversation view and address auto-complete.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;clear: both; text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFAHV64Nb2hBqnYRmXglkwv2EOKJhXHknjy11Y6JjZdFmJI5rttGnzCr7i9WCw0lEQjoAx8-GF35uuFttKdDQSvnECSUQPFK1Qukv9O69pL9I7RkrGi-Tp-WwW0pFsNhyphenhyphen0XJX70_mliRE/s1600/iOS.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFAHV64Nb2hBqnYRmXglkwv2EOKJhXHknjy11Y6JjZdFmJI5rttGnzCr7i9WCw0lEQjoAx8-GF35uuFttKdDQSvnECSUQPFK1Qukv9O69pL9I7RkrGi-Tp-WwW0pFsNhyphenhyphen0XJX70_mliRE/s400/iOS.png&quot; height=&quot;400&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Suggested meeting times in Google Calendar&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We’ve heard how frustrating it can be to spend 15 minutes finding a good time for people to convene for a 30 minute meeting, so we made it easier to find a good meeting time in Google Calendar. The &lt;a href=&quot;http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/suggested-times-in-google-calendar.html&quot;&gt;suggested times&lt;/a&gt; feature automatically reviews the availability of meeting invitees, and proposes event times that work for the whole group.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;clear: both; text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgazEiyoPZKiJCTNjSZTiHqFqhqWdol-XdJHddaeMI89JgZd3o56jDZCXHqujJRPpWjNaEpHyjf9kV9_5sQkKcC8yYxPvSynIt5X65wIWFxd96CtZsf_-aRxqeAGCDJ9SsBLW6c_kMT9vo/s1600/suggested+times.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgazEiyoPZKiJCTNjSZTiHqFqhqWdol-XdJHddaeMI89JgZd3o56jDZCXHqujJRPpWjNaEpHyjf9kV9_5sQkKcC8yYxPvSynIt5X65wIWFxd96CtZsf_-aRxqeAGCDJ9SsBLW6c_kMT9vo/s450/suggested+times.png&quot; width=&quot;450&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Google+ for organizations using Google Apps&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Businesses, schools and organizations with Google Apps can now &lt;a href=&quot;http://googleenterprise.blogspot.com/2011/10/google-is-now-available-with-google.html&quot;&gt;use Google+&lt;/a&gt;. Employees and students can create profiles, +1 things they like on the web, share interesting content with their circles and have live multi-person video chats with classmates, colleagues and friends. Organizations can also &lt;a href=&quot;http://googleenterprise.blogspot.com/2011/11/google-pages-now-available-with-google.html&quot;&gt;create their Google+ Pages&lt;/a&gt;—an organization’s identity on Google+ for customers, students or fans. We’re using Google+ Pages ourselves, so take a look at the &lt;a href=&quot;https://plus.google.com/103345707817934461425/posts&quot;&gt;Gmail&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href=&quot;https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/117578386194324385666/posts&quot;&gt;Google Enterprise&lt;/a&gt; pages, and circle us if you’d like to stay in the loop.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;24x7 telephone support and improved mobile device management&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This week, we introduced a couple other new benefits for Google Apps customers. Organizations of all sizes around the world can now &lt;a href=&quot;http://googleenterprise.blogspot.com/2011/11/24-x-7-phone-support-for-all-issues-and_14.html&quot;&gt;call our support hotline&lt;/a&gt; at any time for all core service issue. Also new this week, we improved our &lt;a href=&quot;http://googleenterprise.blogspot.com/2011/11/more-flexible-mobile-device-management.html&quot;&gt;mobile device management&lt;/a&gt; capabilities with an interface for administrators to view and deny mobile devices connecting to Google Apps, granular mobile policy controls, and the ability to visualize mobile usage trends across the organization.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;clear: both; text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz7iwNWl_ScerRasYmExuNNHpfnkCy4to0Sv7549Ikl1hZmSbFfDB3Fno-ZRaf195PzQEeGjCMTpgGNygHGx7LVgCH1tf3Pg9mvu3O_uBflIBovjMdhIbHUiChGQzK8jIB-kHLpOmSvo4/s1600/telephone+support.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz7iwNWl_ScerRasYmExuNNHpfnkCy4to0Sv7549Ikl1hZmSbFfDB3Fno-ZRaf195PzQEeGjCMTpgGNygHGx7LVgCH1tf3Pg9mvu3O_uBflIBovjMdhIbHUiChGQzK8jIB-kHLpOmSvo4/s500/telephone+support.png&quot; width=&quot;500&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Who’s gone Google?&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Organizations large and small continue to amass around Google Apps. We’re thrilled to welcome a whole host of new customers including the Trinity Mirror Group (Britain’s largest newspaper publisher), startups such as &lt;a href=&quot;http://googleenterprise.blogspot.com/2011/10/silicon-valley-story-jobflo-has-gone.html&quot;&gt;JobFlo&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href=&quot;http://googleenterprise.blogspot.com/2011/11/silicon-valley-story-usertesting-has.html&quot;&gt;UserTesting&lt;/a&gt;, organizations including the &lt;a href=&quot;http://googleenterprise.blogspot.com/2011/11/us-holocaust-memorial-museum-completes.html&quot;&gt;U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum&lt;/a&gt;, and colleges like the &lt;a href=&quot;http://googleenterprise.blogspot.com/2011/11/go-blue-go-google.html&quot;&gt;University of Michigan&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href=&quot;http://googleenterprise.blogspot.com/2011/11/horns-are-hooked-ut-austin-has-gone.html&quot;&gt;UT Austin&lt;/a&gt;. Our goal is to make search run so smoothly, you don&#39;t even notice the changes. That said, we like giving you insights into what we&#39;re doing behind the search results you see each day. Today on Inside Search, we&#39;ve posted a recap of some of the algorithmic changes we’ve made over just the past couple weeks. These changes improve everything from translation, to snippets to autocomplete. For the complete list including descriptions of the changes, check out the post on the &lt;a href=&quot;http://insidesearch.blogspot.com/2011/11/ten-recent-algorithm-changes.html&quot;&gt;Inside Search blog&lt;/a&gt;.</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/feeds/8043127904253750048/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/11/official-google-blog-ten-algorithm.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/8043127904253750048'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/8043127904253750048'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/11/official-google-blog-ten-algorithm.html' title='Official Google Blog: Ten algorithm changes on Inside Search'/><author><name>Anonymous</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/15243050312308309172</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='https://img1.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6969887791641234092.post-4316091624609731020</id><published>2011-11-11T19:54:00.000-08:00</published><updated>2011-11-11T19:54:18.355-08:00</updated><title type='text'>Official Google Blog: Bringing the very best of what we do to the vetera...</title><content type='html'>We believe that technology can be a force for good; one that builds and binds community. As a Googler, my proudest moments are when we take that technology and put it in the hands of people who can use it to communicate, collaborate, build and explore.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Today, on Veterans Day, I am proud to share a few Google tools and platforms for the military veteran community. They can be accessed on our website, &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.googleforveterans.com/&quot;&gt;Google for Veterans and Families&lt;/a&gt;, which was created by veterans and their family and friends, who work at Google. This single interface brings together Google products and platforms for servicemembers and their families. We believe it will be useful to all veterans, whether still in the service, transitioning out, or on a new path in their civilian lives. Here are some examples of what you’ll find on the site:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://vetconnect.googleforveterans.com/&quot;&gt;VetConnect&lt;/a&gt; - This tool helps servicemembers connect, communicate and share their experiences with others who have served using the Google+ platform.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.youtube.com/veterans&quot;&gt;Google Veterans Channel&lt;/a&gt; - A YouTube channel for discussion about military service for veterans, their families and the public. Veterans can share their experiences with each other as well as with civilians to help shed light on the importance and complexity of service. If you have not served, this is a great place to offer your thanks by uploading a tribute video.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.googleforveterans.com/veterans/life_after_service/build_your_resume.html&quot;&gt;Resume Builder powered by Google Docs&lt;/a&gt; - We found that Docs can be a particularly helpful tool to transitioning servicemembers seeking employment. Resume Builder generates an auto-formatted resume that can be easily edited, saved and downloaded to share with potential employers.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://tourbuilder.googleforveterans.com/&quot;&gt;Tour Builder powered by Google Earth&lt;/a&gt; (coming soon). A new way to tell your military story. Today, you can view some sample “tours”— 3D maps of veterans’ service histories, complete with photos and videos. Stay tuned for more details and updates on the &lt;a href=&quot;http://google-latlong.blogspot.com/&quot;&gt;Google Lat Long Blog&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt; It’s been a proud month for those of us here at Google who are veterans or family of veterans.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In October, 100 Googlers visited the &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.westpointmwr.com/ACTIVITY/ACS/sfac.htm&quot;&gt;Soldier and Family Assistance Center&lt;/a&gt; at West Point to conduct resume writing workshops for members of the Warrior Transition Unit. And, just two weeks ago, we traveled to &lt;a href=&quot;http://googlepublicpolicy.blogspot.com/2011/10/partnering-with-american-red-cross-to.html&quot;&gt;Walter Reed National Military Medical Center&lt;/a&gt; to teach wounded, ill and injured servicemembers how to use Google tools to stay in touch with their loved ones while in recovery.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Finally, this week, we &lt;a href=&quot;http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/powering-new-job-search-engine-for.html&quot;&gt;introduced&lt;/a&gt; the &lt;a href=&quot;https://www.nationalresourcedirectory.gov/home/veterans_job_bank&quot;&gt;Veterans Job Bank&lt;/a&gt; in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Veterans Job Bank is a customized job search engine in the &lt;a href=&quot;https://www.nationalresourcedirectory.gov/&quot;&gt;National Resource Directory&lt;/a&gt; (NRD), which is powered by &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/cse&quot;&gt;Google Custom Search&lt;/a&gt; technology and crawls the web for &lt;a href=&quot;http://schema.org/JobPosting&quot;&gt;JobPosting markup&lt;/a&gt; from &lt;a href=&quot;http://schema.org/&quot;&gt;Schema.org&lt;/a&gt; to identify veteran-committed job openings.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Even playing a small part to serve those who have served has been an honor.</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/feeds/4316091624609731020/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/11/official-google-blog-bringing-very-best.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/4316091624609731020'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/4316091624609731020'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/11/official-google-blog-bringing-very-best.html' title='Official Google Blog: Bringing the very best of what we do to the vetera...'/><author><name>Anonymous</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/15243050312308309172</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='https://img1.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6969887791641234092.post-1643622348928928260</id><published>2011-11-10T20:10:00.000-08:00</published><updated>2011-11-10T20:10:24.445-08:00</updated><title type='text'>Official Google Blog: Google Photography Prize: Looking for the photogra...</title><content type='html'>Google+ is only a few months old, but the photography community is already thriving on it. More than 3.4 billion photos have been uploaded to the platform in the first 100 days.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We’re really excited about this, and think great art deserves great exposure. So we’re teaming up with &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/&quot;&gt;Saatchi Gallery&lt;/a&gt;, London for the &lt;a href=&quot;http://google.com/photographyprize&quot;&gt;Google Photography Prize&lt;/a&gt;, a chance for students around the world to showcase their photos on Google+ and have their work exhibited at a major art institution.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The contest is open to university students around the world (some exceptions apply, see &lt;a href=&quot;http://google.com/photographyprize&quot;&gt;google.com/photographyprize&lt;/a&gt; for more details). From far-away places to up-close faces, there are 10 different &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/landing/photographyprize/categories.html&quot;&gt;categories&lt;/a&gt; to spark your imagination. And there are some great prizes to be won: 10 finalists chosen by a jury of renowned photographers will show their work at Saatchi Gallery, London for two months in 2012 alongside Out of Focus, a major photography exhibition, and win a trip to London to attend the exhibition opening event with a friend. One winner will go on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to an amazing destination with a professional photography coach.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It’s easy to enter: After you pick a category, upload your photos to Google+ and share them with the world as a public post, then visit the submission form on &lt;a href=&quot;http://google.com/photographyprize&quot;&gt;google.com/photographyprize&lt;/a&gt; by January 31, 2012 to enter.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Saatchi Gallery, London will share updates on their &lt;a href=&quot;https://plus.google.com/u/0/101127303147054229029/about&quot;&gt;Google+ page&lt;/a&gt; for the contest, so add it to your circles if you want to see the great work that’s being submitted.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We can’t wait to see your photos!</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/feeds/1643622348928928260/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/11/official-google-blog-google-photography.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/1643622348928928260'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/1643622348928928260'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/11/official-google-blog-google-photography.html' title='Official Google Blog: Google Photography Prize: Looking for the photogra...'/><author><name>Anonymous</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/15243050312308309172</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='https://img1.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6969887791641234092.post-2315050933664677172</id><published>2011-11-08T02:15:00.000-08:00</published><updated>2011-11-08T02:15:04.286-08:00</updated><title type='text'>Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: Grow your audience with Google+</title><content type='html'>At Google, we help grow your audience by connecting you with new users. We introduced the &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/webmasters/+1/button/#utm_source=as&amp;amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;amp;utm_campaign=pages&quot;&gt;+1 button&lt;/a&gt; so your site would stand out on search and your users could easily share your content on Google+. But, sometimes you want to join the conversation and post content directly to where people are sharing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Today we’re introducing &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/+/business#utm_source=as&amp;amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;amp;utm_campaign=pages&quot;&gt;Google+ for Business&lt;/a&gt;, a collection of tools and products that help you grow your audience. At the core of this is Google+ Pages, your site’s identity on Google+.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Google+ Pages: Have real conversations with the right people&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To get your site on Google+, you first need to create a Google+ Page. On your page, you can engage in conversations with your visitors, direct readers back to your site for the latest updates, send tailored messages to specific groups of people, and see how many +1’s you have across the web. Google+ Pages will help you build relationships with your users, encouraging them to spend more time engaging with your content.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style=&quot;text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSgZoB9AMqOyhHjJ82sy-ealFPdEWhPwhG5_i7kQqHOpOS41WtupltAsXrwM7XA2BfTOyYV8KsPmp858meh6VBo-EWQ_edFWRo13EAADC0B2I1KkmpLk3NPn95lq5c0lIAY-IaKKK1NipS/s1600/screenshot1.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSgZoB9AMqOyhHjJ82sy-ealFPdEWhPwhG5_i7kQqHOpOS41WtupltAsXrwM7XA2BfTOyYV8KsPmp858meh6VBo-EWQ_edFWRo13EAADC0B2I1KkmpLk3NPn95lq5c0lIAY-IaKKK1NipS/s400/screenshot1.png&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; height=&quot;280&quot; width=&quot;400&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt; &lt;div style=&quot;text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;i&gt;Google+ Pages are at the heart of Google+ for Business&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;i&gt;Hangouts&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqrraY7PBiJ_yqSrcxr1fMduoYcGu3d8JMV1WXssjLpT4qIcY4jKwIvmwwceDBh-7-C_nv04dG1q0OmM7Dam3Euqcmi1gt9GGZ0EtBJHxy0eTkLSrk4quJpL1kCpn-4cmeqWz1RhJevDU5/s1600/screenshot2.png&quot; style=&quot;clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqrraY7PBiJ_yqSrcxr1fMduoYcGu3d8JMV1WXssjLpT4qIcY4jKwIvmwwceDBh-7-C_nv04dG1q0OmM7Dam3Euqcmi1gt9GGZ0EtBJHxy0eTkLSrk4quJpL1kCpn-4cmeqWz1RhJevDU5/s320/screenshot2.png&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; width=&quot;60&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt; Sometimes you might want to chat with your users face-to-face. For example, if you run a food blog, you may want to invite a chef to talk about her favorite recipe, or if you manage a fashion review site, beauty specialists might want to hold how-to sessions with makeup tips. &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/plus/bin/answer.py?hl=en&amp;amp;answer=1215273&quot;&gt;Hangouts&lt;/a&gt; make this easy, by letting you have high-quality video chats with nine people with a single click. You can use Hangouts to hold live forums, break news or simply get to know people better, all in real time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWi49nl6CjwKK5zZ1OJkEBy5RYZ87NA9F3qSudmCc6xoLscsIKA-35CGPR5hknTxv-XhsROx8vDDpvqr9ucFRKGHWVPQ8a15p4rTsgKTWZCrhb1mtoyiHwnueI29Qx42imguoTrHO8gI9t/s1600/screenshot3.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWi49nl6CjwKK5zZ1OJkEBy5RYZ87NA9F3qSudmCc6xoLscsIKA-35CGPR5hknTxv-XhsROx8vDDpvqr9ucFRKGHWVPQ8a15p4rTsgKTWZCrhb1mtoyiHwnueI29Qx42imguoTrHO8gI9t/s400/screenshot3.png&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; height=&quot;192&quot; width=&quot;400&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt; &lt;div style=&quot;text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;i&gt;Hangouts let you meet your customers, face-to-face&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;i&gt;Circles&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPk6d5sk6ME7epw_sZC_FyoqDSeiHpT4IhM_q6kOzWvotttJp7f-fF3xywqGa8aJZSaHagqcdw8djjwI3_Cd0JZajymGunvHIZoTG5_PebZA_e9kY3PH4NTHVxWrdYPZQeLXj7z3DnXmQd/s1600/screenshot4.png&quot; style=&quot;clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPk6d5sk6ME7epw_sZC_FyoqDSeiHpT4IhM_q6kOzWvotttJp7f-fF3xywqGa8aJZSaHagqcdw8djjwI3_Cd0JZajymGunvHIZoTG5_PebZA_e9kY3PH4NTHVxWrdYPZQeLXj7z3DnXmQd/s320/screenshot4.png&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; width=&quot;50&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/plus/bin/answer.py?hl=en&amp;amp;answer=1047805&amp;amp;topic=1257347&quot;&gt;Circles&lt;/a&gt; allow you to group followers of your Page into smaller audiences. This badge lets people add your page to their circles without leaving your site, and allows them to get updates from your site via Google+.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt; &lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Extend the power of +1, stand out in Google search&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can also link your site to your Google+ page so that all your +1s -- from your Page, your website, and search results -- will get tallied together and appear as a single total. Potential visitors will be more likely to see the recommendations your site has received, whether they’re looking at a search result, your website, or your Page, meaning your +1’s will reach not only the 40 million users of Google+, but all the people who come to Google every day. You can link your site to your Page either using the Google+ badge or with a piece of code. To set this up, visit our Google+ badge configuration tool.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bringing Google+ to the rest of Google&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqGXEc1R85PVuX4Z_3C2btiA5e5bezsvS3d8Cth0EN2w9_GoqitcvfrNu0J17Ivp0fouYaGazJepn8RFNKw6Qd5TU9P1aedrVPLgpJ3cMkiWMHmwC0t22ss7idneHr2XCMIfQ54VjeTNzD/s1600/screenshot6.png&quot; style=&quot;clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqGXEc1R85PVuX4Z_3C2btiA5e5bezsvS3d8Cth0EN2w9_GoqitcvfrNu0J17Ivp0fouYaGazJepn8RFNKw6Qd5TU9P1aedrVPLgpJ3cMkiWMHmwC0t22ss7idneHr2XCMIfQ54VjeTNzD/s200/screenshot6.png&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; width=&quot;75&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt; Our ultimate vision for Google+ is to transform the overall Google experience -- weaving identity and sharing into all of our products. Beginning today, we’re rolling out a new experimental feature to a small group of eligible publishers, &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/plus/?hl=en&amp;amp;p=direct_connect&quot;&gt;Google+ Direct Connect&lt;/a&gt; -- an easy way for your audience to find your Google+ Page on Google search. If you’ve linked your &lt;a href=&quot;https://developers.google.com/+/plugins/badge/config#utm_source=as&amp;amp;utm_medium=blog&amp;amp;utm_campaign=pages&quot;&gt;Page to your site&lt;/a&gt; and you &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/plus/?hl=en&amp;amp;p=direct_connect&quot;&gt;qualify&lt;/a&gt;, when someone searches for your website’s name with the ‘+’ sign before it Direct Connect will send them directly to your Page. For example, try searching for ‘+YouTube’ on Google. The Android team then launched &lt;a href=&quot;http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2011/10/unwrapping-ice-cream-sandwich-on-galaxy.html&quot;&gt;Ice Cream Sandwich&lt;/a&gt;, with a focus on improved sharing via Google+. And today we&#39;re rolling out two more Google+ features that integrate with two more Google products: YouTube and Chrome.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;YouTube&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It&#39;s no secret that YouTube is filled with tons of great content (from inspiring speeches to music videos to honey badgers). We wanted to bring YouTube directly into Google+—as well as make it easier to watch and share your favorites—so we&#39;re launching a YouTube &quot;slider&quot; in the stream. Here’s how it works:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;Mouse over the new YouTube icon at the top right of Google+&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;It&#39;ll slide out and ask, &quot;What would you like to play&quot;?&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Enter whatever you&#39;re in the mood for (like a topic or a musical artist)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt; We&#39;ll start playing a list of related videos in a new pop-up window, and if you move the pop-up elsewhere, you can still navigate your playlist from the slider:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;clear: both; text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm4j6lS2QmD-qwxlQzeUzjpL3Da5_feeKmd25yGHKUtN2G24En-qWgfRm1YhGnI7grEomaZVo-Z3_PgrRHWiHgr4htXdfk6AdPS3tPpWnNdEErMOAjzRVQoTkRIC13lYGJgRbYRKaxQeo/s1600/youtube+slider.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm4j6lS2QmD-qwxlQzeUzjpL3Da5_feeKmd25yGHKUtN2G24En-qWgfRm1YhGnI7grEomaZVo-Z3_PgrRHWiHgr4htXdfk6AdPS3tPpWnNdEErMOAjzRVQoTkRIC13lYGJgRbYRKaxQeo/s500/youtube+slider.png&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; width=&quot;500&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt; &lt;div style=&quot;text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;i&gt;From left to right: YouTube slider (closed), slider (open), pop-up playlist, slider (while playing)&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sharing YouTube videos with your circles also works (of course), but there&#39;s a nice little twist: the people you share with can open a related playlist directly from your post! Last but not least, we’re starting to include YouTube playlists in Google+ search results.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;clear: both; text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibZEcK_YJOv4gNd0iOuEfJ_RUGRjBqBeV7y_bNHbGiKnPmOyT7sKCtKL3XVdZAAjNhFhUoJrPgWVYH2BW-Jy-GoxDJcCrdpUsLtZD9cH4oUNDQPeb0O-5Gp1AzE6y_q5rjP7Ov9DfSc4U/s1600/yt+playlists+in+search.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibZEcK_YJOv4gNd0iOuEfJ_RUGRjBqBeV7y_bNHbGiKnPmOyT7sKCtKL3XVdZAAjNhFhUoJrPgWVYH2BW-Jy-GoxDJcCrdpUsLtZD9cH4oUNDQPeb0O-5Gp1AzE6y_q5rjP7Ov9DfSc4U/s500/yt+playlists+in+search.png&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; width=&quot;500&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style=&quot;text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;i&gt;YouTube video in the stream (left), YouTube playlist in Google+ search results (right)&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Chrome&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We&#39;re also rolling out two new &lt;a href=&quot;http://google.com/chrome/google-plus&quot;&gt;Google+ Chrome extensions&lt;/a&gt;:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;+1 button: +1 any webpage and share it with your circles&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Notifications: check your Google+ notifications while you browse the web&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt; Of course, if you don&#39;t use Chrome, then you can use &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/toolbar&quot;&gt;Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer&lt;/a&gt;. The new version—also rolling out today—includes these same sharing and notification features.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div class=&quot;separator&quot; style=&quot;clear: both; text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioT7dsOAtHFuUoKfHsNBD85BV_amKBMTl_fqX-S7twpauDvJzxlY6D4j_4MWhQWYDh8eLnNug0yMd7q-5B6sWj9QANXBMLiL61AHOBe-hHJ4WeiilCUmNv3zBr_K4orFU2upt8aqCPjas/s1600/chrome+extensions.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioT7dsOAtHFuUoKfHsNBD85BV_amKBMTl_fqX-S7twpauDvJzxlY6D4j_4MWhQWYDh8eLnNug0yMd7q-5B6sWj9QANXBMLiL61AHOBe-hHJ4WeiilCUmNv3zBr_K4orFU2upt8aqCPjas/s500/chrome+extensions.png&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; width=&quot;500&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt; &lt;div style=&quot;text-align: center;&quot;&gt; &lt;i&gt;Google+ Chrome extensions: +1 button (left), notifications (right)&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We&#39;ve got lots more planned for Google+, YouTube and Chrome (and all the other Google products you already use). So is &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFb2rvmrahc&quot;&gt;this guy&lt;/a&gt;. I’m proud to have a degree from U-M—and that we made it to two Rose Bowls and one Final Four during my time there. But I’m even more proud that today we’re welcoming my alma mater to the &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/a/edu&quot;&gt;Google Apps for Education&lt;/a&gt; family. By providing our cloud services to the entire university community, we’ll continue to build on the strong relationship that Google and the University of Michigan have had for many years. Many other alums—especially in our &lt;a href=&quot;http://maps.google.com/?q=Google%20Ann%20Arbor@42.280119,-83.74379&amp;amp;hl=en&quot;&gt;Ann Arbor office&lt;/a&gt;—are just as excited as I am:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;iframe src=&quot;http://www.youtube.com/embed/GdcH6agZD2E&quot; allowfullscreen=&quot;&quot; frameborder=&quot;0&quot; height=&quot;315&quot; width=&quot;560&quot;&gt;&lt;/iframe&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Over a year ago, the University of Michigan (U-M) announced a new IT strategy known as &lt;a href=&quot;http://nextgen.umich.edu/&quot;&gt;NextGen Michigan&lt;/a&gt;, a plan to upgrade technology across the campus. Laura Patterson, U-M’s Chief Information Office, told us the switch to Google is just one of many projects that will make up U-M’s multi-year strategy for changing the approach to IT service and investing more heavily in technologies that will advance the university’s academic, teaching, research and clinical programs. She said: “Adopting Google Apps for Education will help support U-M’s leadership in teaching, learning and discovery, as well as improve collaboration across campus.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As their first order of business, U-M kicked off a project to select a unified messaging and collaboration platform to help consolidate the more than 40 email and calendar tools which currently service about 90,000 students, faculty and staff. After a review process that included townhall meetings and a campus survey, the university’s IT steering committee overwhelmingly recommended Google Apps for Education as U-M’s preferred provider.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In addition to the suite of products in Google Apps for Education, U-M also plans to use &lt;a href=&quot;http://code.google.com/googleapps/docs/&quot;&gt;APIs&lt;/a&gt; to build rich integration with existing campus services and encourage increased collaboration.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Victors&quot;&gt;Hail to the Victors&lt;/a&gt;—The University of Michigan is going Google!</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/feeds/3778582227870584043/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/11/official-google-blog-go-blue-go-google.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/3778582227870584043'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/3778582227870584043'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/11/official-google-blog-go-blue-go-google.html' title='Official Google Blog: Go Blue, go Google'/><author><name>Anonymous</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/15243050312308309172</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='https://img1.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="https://img.youtube.com/vi/GdcH6agZD2E/default.jpg" height="72" width="72"/><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6969887791641234092.post-2700738254178387497</id><published>2011-11-03T21:20:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2011-11-03T21:20:49.634-07:00</updated><title type='text'>Official Google Blog: Making ideas real with SketchUp</title><content type='html'>For the past decade, legions of &lt;a href=&quot;http://sketchup.google.com/&quot;&gt;Google SketchUp&lt;/a&gt; users have been quietly shaping the world around us. Two million professionals and hobbyists use this 3D modeling tool every week to design everything under the sun, including &lt;a href=&quot;http://sketchupdate.blogspot.com/2011/03/sketchup-pro-case-study-dan-tyree.html&quot;&gt;houses&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href=&quot;http://sketchupdate.blogspot.com/2008/03/jennifer-rearranges-her-living-room.html&quot;&gt;room layouts&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href=&quot;http://sketchupdate.blogspot.com/2011/03/sketchup-pro-case-study-randy-wilkins.html&quot;&gt;movie sets&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href=&quot;http://sketchupdate.blogspot.com/2011/07/sharks-rays-and-sketchup-at-new-england.html&quot;&gt;aquariums&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href=&quot;http://sketchupdate.blogspot.com/2011/06/real-time-design-with-sketchup.html&quot;&gt;bridges&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GvzeXgBU_o#t=0m46s&quot;&gt;robots&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href=&quot;http://sketchupdate.blogspot.com/2011/09/sketchup-pro-case-study-dave-richards.html&quot;&gt;furniture&lt;/a&gt;. We &lt;a href=&quot;http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2008/06/improved-flash-indexing.html&quot;&gt;improved our indexing of Flash&lt;/a&gt;, built a more robust &lt;a href=&quot;http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2010/06/our-new-search-index-caffeine.html&quot;&gt;infrastructure called Caffeine&lt;/a&gt;, and we even started &lt;a href=&quot;http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2008/04/crawling-through-html-forms.html&quot;&gt;crawling form&lt;/a&gt;s where it makes sense. Now, especially with the growing popularity of JavaScript and, with it, AJAX, we’re finding more web pages requiring POST requests -- either for the entire content of the page or because the pages are missing information and/or look completely broken without the resources returned from POST. For Google Search this is less than ideal, because when we’re not properly discovering and indexing content, searchers may not have access to the most comprehensive and relevant results.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We generally advise to use &lt;a href=&quot;https://www.google.com/search?q=GET+POST+HTTP&quot;&gt;GET&lt;/a&gt; for fetching resources a page needs, and this is by far our preferred method of crawling. We’ve started experiments to rewrite POST requests to GET, and while this remains a valid strategy in some cases, often the contents returned by a web server for GET vs. POST are completely different. Additionally, there are legitimate reasons to use POST (e.g., you can attach more data to a POST request than a GET). So, while GET requests remain far more common, to surface more content on the web, Googlebot may now perform POST requests when we believe it’s safe and appropriate.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We take precautions to avoid performing any task on a site that could result in executing an unintended user action. Our POSTs are primarily for crawling resources that a page requests automatically, mimicking what a typical user would see when they open the URL in their browser. This will evolve over time as we find better heuristics, but that’s our current approach.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let’s run through a few POSTs request scenarios that demonstrate how we’re improving our crawling and indexing to evolve with the web.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Examples of Googlebot’s POST requests&lt;/b&gt; &lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;i&gt;Crawling a page via a POST redirect&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;span class=&quot;Apple-style-span&quot; style=&quot;font-family: &#39;courier new&#39;;&quot;&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; &lt;form name=&quot;foo&quot; action=&quot;request.php&quot; method=&quot;&amp;lt;span&quot; class=&quot;Apple-style-span&quot; style=&quot;color: rgb(0, 153, 0);&quot;&gt;&quot;post&quot;&lt;/form&gt;&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;input name=&quot;bar&quot; value=&quot;234&quot; type=&quot;hidden&quot;&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;i&gt;Crawling a resource via a POST XMLHttpRequest&lt;/i&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In this step-by-step example, we improve both the indexing of a page and its Instant Preview by following the automatic XMLHttpRequest generated as the page renders.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;Google crawls the URL, yummy-sundae.html.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Google begins indexing yummy-sundae.html and, as a part of this process, decides to attempt to render the page to better understand its content and/or generate the Instant Preview.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;During the render, yummy-sundae.html automatically sends an XMLHttpRequest for a resource, hot-fudge-info.html, using the POST method.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;div style=&quot;text-indent: 5px;&quot;&gt;&lt;span class=&quot;Apple-style-span&quot; style=&quot;font-family: &#39;courier new&#39;;&quot;&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; &lt;title&gt;Yummy Sundae&lt;/title&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;script src=&quot;jquery.js&quot;&gt;&lt;/script&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; This page is about a yummy sundae.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;div id=&quot;content&quot;&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;script type=&quot;text/javascript&quot;&gt;&lt;br /&gt; $(document).ready(function() {&lt;br /&gt; $.&lt;span class=&quot;Apple-style-span&quot; style=&quot;color: rgb(0, 153, 0);&quot;&gt;post&lt;/span&gt;(&#39;hot-fudge-info.html&#39;, function(data)&lt;br /&gt; {$(&#39;#content&#39;).html(data);});&lt;br /&gt; });&lt;br /&gt; &lt;/script&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;The URL requested through POST, hot-fudge-info.html, along with its data payload, is added to Googlebot’s crawl queue.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Googlebot performs a POST request to crawl hot-fudge-info.html.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Google now has an accurate representation of yummy-sundae.html for Instant Previews. In certain cases, we may also incorporate the contents of hot-fudge-info.html into yummy-sundae.html.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Google completes the indexing of yummy-sundae.html.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;User searches for [hot fudge sundae].&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Google’s algorithms can now better determine how yummy-sundae.html is relevant for this query, and we can properly display a snapshot of the page for Instant Previews.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt; &lt;b&gt;Improving your site’s crawlability and indexability&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;General advice for creating crawlable sites is found in our &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=40349&quot;&gt;Help Center&lt;/a&gt;. For webmasters who want to help Google crawl and index their content and/or generate the Instant Preview, here are a few simple reminders: &lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;Prefer GET for fetching resources, unless there’s a specific reason to use POST.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Verify that we&#39;re allowed to crawl the resources needed to render your page. In the example above, if hot-fudge-info.html is disallowed by &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35303&quot;&gt;robots.txt&lt;/a&gt;, Googlebot won&#39;t fetch it. More subtly, if the JavaScript code that issues the XMLHttpRequest is located in an external .js file disallowed by robots.txt, we won&#39;t see the connection between yummy-sundae.html and hot-fudge-info.html, so even if the latter is not disallowed itself, that may not help us much. We&#39;ve seen even more complicated chains of dependencies in the wild. To help Google better understand your site it&#39;s almost always better to allow Googlebot to crawl all resources.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can test whether resources are blocked through &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/&quot;&gt;Webmaster Tools&lt;/a&gt; “Labs -&amp;gt; &lt;a href=&quot;http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2011/05/troubleshooting-instant-previews-in.html&quot;&gt;Instant Previews&lt;/a&gt;.”&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Make sure to return the same content to Googlebot as is returned to users’ web browsers. &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=66355&quot;&gt;Cloaking&lt;/a&gt; (sending different content to Googlebot than to users) is a violation of our &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769&quot;&gt;Webmaster Guidelines&lt;/a&gt; because, among other things, it may cause us to provide a searcher with an irrelevant result -- the content the user views in their browser may be a complete mismatch from what we crawled and indexed. We’ve seen numerous POST-request examples where a webmaster non-maliciously cloaked (which is still a violation), and their cloaking -- on even the smallest of changes -- then caused JavaScript errors that prevented accurate indexing and completely defeated their reason for cloaking in the first place. Summarizing, if you want your site to be search-friendly, cloaking is an all-around sticky situation that’s best to avoid.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To verify that you&#39;re not accidentally cloaking, you can use &lt;a href=&quot;http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2011/05/troubleshooting-instant-previews-in.html&quot;&gt;Instant Previews&lt;/a&gt; within Webmaster Tools, or try setting the User-Agent string in your browser to something like:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style=&quot;text-indent: 10px;&quot;&gt;&lt;span class=&quot;Apple-style-span&quot; style=&quot;font-family: &#39;courier new&#39;;&quot;&gt;Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1;&lt;br /&gt; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Your site shouldn&#39;t look any different after such a change. If you see a blank page, a JavaScript error, or if parts of the page are missing or different, that means that something&#39;s wrong.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Remember to include important content (i.e., the content you’d like indexed) as text, visible directly on the page and without requiring user-action to display. Most search engines are text-based and generally work best with text-based content. We’re always improving our ability to crawl and index content published in a variety of ways, but it remains a good practice to use text for important information.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;b&gt;Controlling your content&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you’d like to prevent content from being crawled or indexed for Google Web Search, traditional &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=93708&quot;&gt;robots.txt directives&lt;/a&gt; remain the best method. To prevent the Instant Preview for your page(s), please see our &lt;a href=&quot;http://sites.google.com/site/webmasterhelpforum/en/faq-instant-previews&quot;&gt;Instant Previews FAQ&lt;/a&gt; which describes the “Google Web Preview” User-Agent and the nosnippet meta tag.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Moving forward&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We’ll continue striving to increase the comprehensiveness of our index so searchers can find more relevant information. And we expect our crawling and indexing capability to improve and evolve over time, just like the web itself. Please let us know if you have questions or concerns.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;span class=&quot;byline-author&quot;&gt;Written by &lt;a rel=&quot;author&quot; href=&quot;https://plus.google.com/u/1/103690467358879664235/about&quot;&gt;Pawel Aleksander Fedorynski&lt;/a&gt;, Software Engineer, Indexing Team, and &lt;a rel=&quot;author&quot; href=&quot;https://plus.google.com/u/0/111983349552187459374/about?hl=en&quot;&gt;Maile Ohye&lt;/a&gt;, Developer Programs Tech Lead&lt;/span&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/feeds/727439630680474068/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/11/official-google-webmaster-central-blog_03.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/727439630680474068'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/727439630680474068'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/11/official-google-webmaster-central-blog_03.html' title='Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: GET, POST, and safely surfacing more of the web'/><author><name>Anonymous</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/15243050312308309172</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='https://img1.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6969887791641234092.post-7595809197224370605</id><published>2011-11-03T21:16:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2011-11-03T21:16:19.197-07:00</updated><title type='text'>Official Google Blog: Life in a Day now available on YouTube</title><content type='html'>On July 24, 2010, thousands of people around the world recorded videos of their lives to take part in &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.youtube.com/lifeinaday&quot;&gt;Life in a Day&lt;/a&gt;, a cinematic experiment to document a single day on earth. From more than 4,500 hours of footage recorded and uploaded to YouTube, Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald and executive producer Ridley Scott created a 90-minute feature film that offers an entertaining, surprising and moving view of life on earth.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;After a theatrical release in countries around the world including appearances at the Sundance, Berlin, SXSW and Sydney film festivals, Life in a Day is finally coming home to YouTube—in its entirety, for free.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Starting today you can watch Life in a Day on YouTube, available with subtitles in 25 languages. So if you haven’t seen it yet or want to relive the experience that &lt;i&gt;The Times&lt;/i&gt; of London considers “a thrilling piece of cinema” and the &lt;i&gt;Washington Post&lt;/i&gt; called “a profound achievement,” now’s your chance.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;iframe src=&quot;http://www.youtube.com/embed/JaFVr_cJJIY&quot; allowfullscreen=&quot;&quot; frameborder=&quot;0&quot; height=&quot;315&quot; width=&quot;560&quot;&gt;&lt;/iframe&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you’d like to own Life in a Day, a DVD is also available. Because ads should be just as useful as any other &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/ads/answers/&quot;&gt;information&lt;/a&gt; on the web, we try to make them as relevant as possible for you. Over the coming weeks, we’re making improvements to provide greater transparency and choice regarding the ads you see on Google search and Gmail. Soon, you’ll be able to learn more about these ads by clicking the &quot;Why these ads&quot; link next to ads on Google search results and Gmail.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;“Why these ads” gives you transparency&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The perfect search ad answers your query and gets you what you’re looking for quickly. When you click the “Why these ads” link, you’ll find information about why you’re seeing a particular ad and how it’s personalized for you. If you’re searching for a local restaurant while you’re on vacation in Hawaii, you would see ads for restaurants that are nearby, rather than restaurants in your hometown. Or if you’re researching flat-panel televisions, and performing a series of similar searches in quick succession, you could see ads based on the query that you just entered, or based on a few recent and related queries within a single browser session. By considering the language you’re using, your geographic location and various other indications, we’re able to show you the best ads possible. We’ve been showing ads in this way for years as a way to help you quickly find what you&#39;re looking for.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ads Preferences Manager gives you choice&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can also go to the &lt;a href=&quot;http://google.com/settings/ads&quot;&gt;Ads Preferences Manager&lt;/a&gt; to make changes that improve the ads that you&#39;re seeing, including blocking specific advertisers you’re not interested in or turning off ads personalization entirely (of course, you can change your mind at any time). Here’s a video from our lead software engineer, Diane Tang, with more background:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;iframe src=&quot;http://www.youtube.com/embed/PN0I_YlDF1A&quot; allowfullscreen=&quot;&quot; frameborder=&quot;0&quot; height=&quot;315&quot; width=&quot;560&quot;&gt;&lt;/iframe&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We regularly experiment with new ways to improve our ads to make them more relevant and to help marketers grow their businesses. When we run these experiments, we’ll continue to explain why the ads are showing when you click the “Why these ads” link.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As we’ve done with &lt;a href=&quot;http://googlepublicpolicy.blogspot.com/2009/03/giving-consumers-control-over-ads.html&quot;&gt;display ads&lt;/a&gt;, we’re committed to giving you notice and control over the ads that you see. We’re always working to deliver the perfect ad, and we know that it’s important to have a choice about the kinds of ads that are shown to you. If you don’t wish to see personalized ads, the choice is yours.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To find out more, visit the &lt;a href=&quot;http://adwords.blogspot.com/2011/10/improved-transparency-and-choice-with.html&quot;&gt;Inside AdWords blog&lt;/a&gt; and the &lt;a href=&quot;http://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/answer.py?hl=en&amp;amp;answer=1634057&quot;&gt;Help Center&lt;/a&gt;.</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/feeds/4694808566447577986/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/11/official-google-blog-increasing.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/4694808566447577986'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/4694808566447577986'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/11/official-google-blog-increasing.html' title='Official Google Blog: Increasing transparency and choice with ads on sea...'/><author><name>Anonymous</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/15243050312308309172</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='https://img1.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="https://img.youtube.com/vi/PN0I_YlDF1A/default.jpg" height="72" width="72"/><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6969887791641234092.post-7685409053161354533</id><published>2011-11-03T21:10:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2011-11-03T21:10:15.667-07:00</updated><title type='text'>Official Google Blog: Gmail’s new look</title><content type='html'>Back in July we showed you a &lt;a href=&quot;http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2011/06/preview-of-gmails-new-look.html&quot;&gt;preview of Gmail&#39;s new look&lt;/a&gt;, and we’ve been working this summer to make even more updates and improvements. Today, we’re giving you an in-depth look at the new design. If you like what you see, over the next few days you’ll be able to switch to the new look by clicking on &lt;b&gt;Switch to the new look&lt;/b&gt; in the bottom-right of &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.gmail.com/&quot;&gt;Gmail&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;iframe src=&quot;http://www.youtube.com/embed/vfW5e6jVsMs&quot; allowfullscreen=&quot;&quot; frameborder=&quot;0&quot; height=&quot;315&quot; width=&quot;560&quot;&gt;&lt;/iframe&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Streamlined conversations&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Conversation view has been completely redesigned to help you read through your email threads. You’ll now see profiles pictures for your contacts, so it’s easier to keep track of who said what. We also stripped out as much as possible so you can focus on communicating with your friends and colleagues.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;center&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZElri0qjk7H6N1aXb-Atk2d7MHI0c41D4npIfQIDTVyW4tgqgIKSSUGlCcuGbgdtVf046UILOwYFlpAMJLB7h3DJGy0vsOeVu9W-QMNi8WXD8ggLWaqOFqwcVcqM9ys3VPxDvpa8_7p8/s1600/conversationlarge.png&quot; style=&quot;margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;&quot;&gt;&lt;img src=&quot;https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZElri0qjk7H6N1aXb-Atk2d7MHI0c41D4npIfQIDTVyW4tgqgIKSSUGlCcuGbgdtVf046UILOwYFlpAMJLB7h3DJGy0vsOeVu9W-QMNi8WXD8ggLWaqOFqwcVcqM9ys3VPxDvpa8_7p8/s400/conversationlarge.png&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; height=&quot;288&quot; width=&quot;400&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/center&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Elastic density&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We know that you use Gmail from a variety of screen sizes and devices, so now the spacing between elements on the screen will automatically change based on the kind of display you’re using. A common example we’ve talked about over the years is having the same content available on more than one URL, an issue known as &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=66359&quot;&gt;duplicate content&lt;/a&gt;. When we discover a group of pages with duplicate content, Google uses algorithms to select one representative URL for that content. A group of pages may contain URLs from the same site or from different sites. When the representative URL is selected from a group with different sites the selection is called a cross-domain URL selection. To take a simple example, if the group of URLs contains one URL from a.com and one URL from b.com and our algorithms select the URL from b.com, the a.com URL may no longer be shown in our search results and may see a drop in search-referred traffic.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Webmasters can greatly influence our algorithms’ selections using one of the currently supported mechanisms to indicate the preferred URL, for example using &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=139394&quot;&gt;rel=&quot;canonical&quot; elements&lt;/a&gt; or &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=93633&quot;&gt;301 redirects&lt;/a&gt;. In most cases, the decisions our algorithms make in this regard correctly reflect the webmaster’s intent. However, in some rare cases we’ve also found many webmasters are confused as to why it has happened and what they can do if they believe the selection is incorrect.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;To be transparent about cross-domain URL selection decisions, we’re launching new Webmaster Tools messages that will attempt to notify webmasters when our algorithms select an external URL instead of one from their website. The details about how these messages work are in our &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=1716747&amp;amp;topic=20985&quot;&gt;Help Center article about the topic&lt;/a&gt;, and in this blog post we’ll discuss the different scenarios in which you may see a cross-domain URL selection and what you can do to fix any selections you believe are incorrect.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h3&gt;Common causes of cross-domain URL selection&lt;/h3&gt;&lt;p&gt;There are many scenarios that can lead our algorithms to select URLs across domains.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;In most cases, our algorithms select a URL based on signals that the webmaster implemented to influence the decision. For example, a webmaster following &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=83105&quot;&gt;our guidelines&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href=&quot;http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2008/04/best-practices-when-moving-your-site.html&quot;&gt;best practices&lt;/a&gt; for moving websites is effectively signalling that the URLs on their new website are the ones they prefer for Google to select. If you’re moving your website and see these new messages in Webmaster Tools, you can take that as confirmation that our algorithms have noticed.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;However, we regularly see webmasters ask questions when our algorithms select a URL they did not want selected. When your website is involved in a cross-domain selection, and you believe the selection is incorrect (i.e. not your intention), there are several strategies to improve the situation. Here are some of the common causes of unexpected cross-domain URL selections that we’ve seen, and how to fix them:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Duplicate content, including multi-regional websites&lt;/strong&gt;: We regularly see webmasters use substantially the same content in the same language on multiple domains, sometimes inadvertently and sometimes to geotarget the content. For example, it’s common to see a webmaster set up the same English language website on both example.com and example.net, or a German language website hosted on a.de, a.at, and a.ch.&lt;p&gt;Depending on your website and your users, you can use one of the currently-supported canonicalization techniques to signal to our algorithms which URLs you wish selected. Please see the following articles about this topic:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=139066&quot;&gt;Canonicalization&lt;/a&gt;, specifically &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=139394&quot;&gt;rel=&quot;canonical&quot; elements&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=93633&quot;&gt;301 redirects&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=182192&quot;&gt;Multi-regional and multilingual sites&lt;/a&gt; and more about &lt;a href=&quot;http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2010/03/working-with-multi-regional-websites.html&quot;&gt;working with multi-regional websites&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=189077&quot;&gt;About rel=&quot;alternate&quot; hreflang=&quot;x&quot;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Configuration mistakes&lt;/strong&gt;: Certain types of misconfigurations can lead our algorithms to make an incorrect decision. Examples of misconfiguration scenarios include:&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Incorrect canonicalization&lt;/strong&gt;: Incorrect usage of &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=139066&quot;&gt;canonicalization techniques&lt;/a&gt; pointing to URLs on an external website can lead our algorithms to select the external URLs to show in our search results. We’ve seen this happen with misconfigured content management systems (CMS) or CMS plugins installed by the webmaster.&lt;p&gt;To fix this kind of situation, find how your website is incorrectly indicating the canonical URL preference (e.g. through incorrect usage of a rel=&quot;canonical&quot; element or a 301 redirect) and fix that.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Misconfigured servers&lt;/strong&gt;: Sometimes we see hosting misconfigurations where content from site a.com is returned for URLs on b.com. A similar case occurs when two unrelated web servers return identical &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=181708&quot;&gt;soft 404 pages&lt;/a&gt; that we may fail to detect as error pages. In both situations we may assume the same content is being returned from two different sites and our algorithms may incorrectly select the a.com URL as the canonical of the b.com URL.&lt;p&gt;You will need to investigate which part of your website’s serving infrastructure is misconfigured. For example, your server may be returning HTTP 200 (success) status codes for error pages, or your server might be confusing requests across different domains hosted on it. Once you find the root cause of the issue, work with your server admins to correct the configuration.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Malicious website attacks&lt;/strong&gt;: Some attacks on websites introduce code that can cause undesired canonicalization. For example, the malicious code might cause the website to return an &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=93633&quot;&gt;HTTP 301 redirect&lt;/a&gt; or insert a cross-domain &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=139394&quot;&gt;rel=&quot;canonical&quot; link element&lt;/a&gt; into the HTML or HTTP header, usually pointing to an external URL hosting malicious content. In these cases our algorithms may select the malicious or spammy URL instead of the URL on the compromised website.&lt;p&gt;In this situation, please follow our &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=163634&quot;&gt;guidance on cleaning your site&lt;/a&gt; and submit a reconsideration request when done. For one thrilling night of the year, I got to stay up late trick-or-treating, watch scary movies with my friends, and wield sharp and pointy objects (safety first, of course!) while carving a macabre face into a pumpkin.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;iframe src=&quot;http://www.youtube.com/embed/FPAa7BqgSbw&quot; allowfullscreen=&quot;&quot; frameborder=&quot;0&quot; height=&quot;315&quot; width=&quot;560&quot;&gt;&lt;/iframe&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now that I&#39;m older, my perspective on Halloween has shifted a bit. It’s now the holiday that most celebrates a childlike sense of wonder and amazement. Ordinary people and places are temporarily transformed into creepy and whimsical versions of their former selves: a zombie rises with the aid of corn syrup and some red food coloring, your everyday home becomes a haunted house with eerie lights and a spooky soundtrack, and a pumpkin—an otherwise plain-looking squash—is a grinning ghoul, with the help of only a candle, a knife and some elbow grease.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;iframe src=&quot;http://www.youtube.com/embed/yjG0rmOIngE&quot; allowfullscreen=&quot;&quot; frameborder=&quot;0&quot; height=&quot;315&quot; width=&quot;560&quot;&gt;&lt;/iframe&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To celebrate Halloween this year, the doodle team wanted to capture that fascinating transformation that takes place when carving a pumpkin. Instead of picking up a few pumpkins from the grocery store, however, we decided to work on six giant pumpkins, specially delivered from nearby Half Moon Bay (some weighing well over 1,000 pounds). What you see is a timelapse video of the approximately eight hours we spent carving in the middle of our Mountain View, Calif. campus.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Googlers got into the Halloween spirit as well—you can see their costumed cameos if you have a quick eye. Many thanks to Slavic Soul Party! and composer Matt Moran for providing a fitting soundtrack for our Halloween hijinks.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For an inside look at how we set up the shoot, watch our behind-the-scenes video:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;From all of us at Google, take care, be safe and have fun this Halloween!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class=&quot;byline-author&quot;&gt;Posted by Sophia Foster-Dimino, Doodler&lt;/span&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/feeds/8730150739802236210/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/10/official-google-blog-happy-hollowing.html#comment-form' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/8730150739802236210'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6969887791641234092/posts/default/8730150739802236210'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://seosoaring.blogspot.com/2011/10/official-google-blog-happy-hollowing.html' title='Official Google Blog: Happy hollowing!'/><author><name>Anonymous</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/15243050312308309172</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='https://img1.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="https://img.youtube.com/vi/FPAa7BqgSbw/default.jpg" height="72" width="72"/><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry></feed>
