New Year's Resolution

Well along with the New Year comes new hopes and dreams for a new you. I know every year I tell myself that I’ll start or stop doing something which never really happens. Maybe three months in it and I’ve already given up. This year I’ve come up with a list of do’s and don’t for myself in 2009.

I swear this year will be different, Check!

I promise I won’t fall in love with him, Check!

I’m definitely saving more than spending, Check!

Complete the final draft along with Kia for starting this social group called The Factory, Check!

There’s plenty more but these were the ones I’m most certainly trying to work on during the New Year. A wise person once said that if you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything. Well keep that in mind when trying to overcome any obstacle that stands in your way.

I know I have been gone for such a long time. But it's 2009 and I have promised myself to devote more time to my blog. Things have been so hectic for me these past weeks but I have cleared my head and most importantly I have a new laptop so I can write more. Once again thanks to all my readers who have stuck it out with me and I promise you won't regret it. Cheers!

I am currently in the process of coming up with a new game plan for this blog for the new year, I will start posting once all the wrinkles are ironed out! Please be patient....

Beyonce Album Leak

Well it looks as if Beyonce's album leaked and I was able to listen to a few songs... To say the least I was not amused. Hopefully this is not the final draft because if it is then Bey need to just take a bow and pass the torch to Rihanna.. hey Jigga wants kids so she could push out a few camels lol!!!

The American Dream- Obama Wins!

Well as you all are probably aware of Obama has made it all the way to the top.... We In There! I can honestly say that I am so filled with emotion right now. Last night was the single most exiting day of my life well apart from having my two children. Who would ever imagine, a black man that's right a black man would ever take control of the White House. This win is so bittersweet for Barack and also myself... his grandmother died the day before his historic win and I too lost my grandma earlier this year. WOW! I know that's what she's saying as she watches over us, I just wish she was here physically to enjoy the joy and triumph of her people. I cried when the announcement was made and was so emotional when he read his acceptance speech. The world as a whole came to a complete stop and I am proud to have been apart of such an amazing part of history.....YES WE CAN and yes we will!!!!!

This event gives our children black or white a reason to strive for their goals and understand that even what's believe as impossible can be possible. Reach for your goals everyday people and even if you stumble and fall brush it off and keep truckin it. Life as we know has forever changed, walk away from this with a positive attitude and bless the day that we all witness history.... I am proud to be an American!!!

The High Heel Drag Queen Race is one of DC’s favorite Halloween traditions. Each year on the Tuesday before Halloween, thousand of people journey to Dupont Circle to watch costumed drag queens show off their elaborate outfits and race down 17th Street. The event lasts a few hours and attracts a wide diverse crowd. This year's event took place on Tuesday, October 28, 2008, beginning at 9 p.m. Some participants gathered as early as 6 p.m. to participate. Some costumes were dedicated to Flapper Girls, Sarah Polin and Michelle Obama…

Teen Club Shut Down

The party -- known as Club Bounce -- has drawn numerous complaints from residents and businesses in the Chinatown area. The event has been offered most Saturday nights since August in a building at 915 F St. NW, the former location of Platinum nightclub, attracting 300 to 500 youths. They cited a shooting in the area that they said followed a fight outside the building. No one was hurt in the shooting.

The Club Bounce program was created by Traci Allen and her daughter Aliah, now 14, and run through an outfit called Teen Life Productions. Allen said she was upset that the city took a drastic step, even though the reason for the event was to provide young people from the DMVwith a safe environment.

The hall's (Platinum) owner said that the Club Bounce party is being blamed for trouble, away from the place, that had nothing to do with the program. Club Bounce -- promoted as the "D.C. Area's Hottest 18 & Under Teen Night Club" -- has been staged at various venues in the Washington area since 2007. It caters to youths, grades 9 through 12, and does not serve alcohol.

"I am a single mom," Allen said. "I want safety for everyone. I have a daughter. We're a very controlled event."

See I am all for offering teens a place to mingle and enjoy themselves but a club is a mixture of oil and water, which will never combine as one. Today people are so messed up that enjoying a night out without an altercation, fight or worst a shooting is far and few. Even adult clubs haven’t stood the test of the times. Quite often those clubs are shut down only to re-open as a new and improved version.WTF? Are the crowds also renovated because if not you’re going to have the same problems all over again. So the question remains can people be renovated with a new attitude, demeanor and all?

Four Tops frontman Levi Stubbs funeral

Four Tops frontman Levi Stubbs died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at his home in Detroit. He was 72. Bishop Charles Ellis officiates over the funeral for Stubbs at the Greater Grace Temple in Detroit on Monday. The Legendary group included Renaldo 'Obie' Benson, Levi Stubbs, Abdul 'Duke' Fakir and Lawrence Payton.

Now Abdul 'Duke' Fakir is the only living member of the Four Tops.

Breaking News- Hudson Tragedy

I know I haven't been updating posts in a few days.. As you all may have already heard about the tragedy of the Hudson family I have just learned that the white SUV that's been missing since the discovery of Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother, has been found. The SUV was discovered today on the West side of Chicago with a body inside. While it hasn't been confirmed only speculated that the body could possible be that of her 7 year old nephew Julian King..

Here's a small recap on the disturbing details:

The mother and brother of Jennifer Hudson were found shot dead Friday at their South Side Chicago home identified as Darnell Donerson, 57, and Jason Hudson, 29.
Julia Hudson, Jennifer's sister, entered the home around 3 p.m. Friday, found the mother shot on the living room floor and left to notify authorities. Responding officers found the brother shot in the upstairs bedroom.
Authorities issued an Amber Alert for 7-year-old Julian King, and were seeking a 1994 white Chevrolet Suburban.
Police identified the suspect in the Hudson Family murders as William Balfour, who's the estranged husband of Jennifer sister.
Balfour was being held on suspicion charges only later to be reduced to person of interest..

This is really sad and tragic and my prayers go out the Jennifer during these difficult times. May God bless you!

I just had a cup full over the weekend of non stop classic movies and couldn't help but continually watch Mommy Dearest. It's based on Christina Crawford's(Joan Crawford adopted daughter) slanderous, tell-all biography and paints a portrait of a Joan Crawford the public never knew. I believe this is one of my favorite movies, I was so intrigued by Faye Dunaway portrail of Joan Crawford..."No more wire hangers!"

If you haven't heard Lyfe Jennings has been arrested today. Information is still coming in so details are scarce. But it has been reported that he eluded police on a highway and shots were fired, when finally apprehended Lyfe refused a breathalyzer test and was charged with discharging a firearm on a public highway... Terry Bourgeois, Lil Wayne's assistant, testified that he saw a handgun "occasionally" on Wayne's tour bus and witnessed various people smoking weed, but he could not specifically single out Lil Wayne for possessing said .40-caliber pistol nor say if one was present when the latter was taken into custody. Last month, a police officer told jurors she searched the vehicle after detecting a weed scent as it was parked outside New York's Beacon Theatre following a July 2007 concert. She then said she spied Lil Wayne attempting to stash the firearm (dirty cops).

Stacey Richman, his attorney, is seeking to have the charges tossed on the grounds that New York's Finest falsified the pot claim in order to conduct a search of the vehicle.

Britney not guilty for being Crazy

Britney Spears' driver's license case has been declared a mistrial. A jury foreman announced that the panel failed to agree after four votes about whether the singer was guilty of driving without a valid driver's license, a misdemeanor. The 26-year-old singer faced jail time and a fine if convicted. She did not appear in court during the trial, which began last week.

Another Recall

A recall of nearly 1.6 million cribs, triggered by the suffocations of two 8-month-old infants, has prompted a government agency to urge parents to inspect older drop-side cribs for safety problems. Both of the suffocations involved infants who got stuck in a gap created when the movable side came off of its guide track.

The incidents, which involved Delta Enterprises cribs, involved safety pegs that are intended to prevent the drop side from lowering too far and slipping off the track. If these pegs are not installed, or if they fail to engage, the drop-side can detach and create a dangerous gap where babies can get stuck.

These cribs were manufactured in Taiwan and Indonesia and sold by major retailers including Wal-Mart, Kmart and Target.com, between January 1995 and September 2007. The recall also included 600,000 cribs of various models with spring-loaded safety pegs. These cribs were manufactured in China and sold between January 2000 and January 2007.

The recall doesn’t affect any cribs now in retail inventory.
