In one my recent posts, I have mentioned and shared photos of Ate K who had flu. In that same post, I mentioned that little Roey got sick too the week after. She had a viral infection and her lab results (stool and blood) proved that too.

If I am to compare my kids when they are faced with sickness like these, I have noticed that little Roey is more of a fighter than her big sister. Ate K gets scared with anything that requires an injection or a needle while Roey would not react at all. Well, Ate K was this brave too when she was just a baby until her toddler years. I think her trauma with needles started when she was 2 yo and confined at St. Luke's Hospital. There were several attempts in both her wrists and even in her right foot when they needed to administer dextrose. It actually required 2 doctors and 3 nurses just for them to find the perfect place to put it. I clearly remember the look in Ate K's face that moment. I really feel pity for her that she had to undergo such pain at that age.
And she never recovered since.

Roey was hospitalized too when she was just 15 months old, a month after Mama died. It was because of diarrhea. Her trauma is different from big sister K. After her release, Roey would never allow me to leave her. She became so clingy to me that even if I enter our own comfort room, she'll be there...standing by. LoL!

These photos were taken during Roey's check up and my sister in law's birthday. She gladly posed for me while we were waiting for her lab results at the Bernardino General Hospital. See that Green Mickey Mouse shirt? She wouldn't allow me to replace it, even if it's one of her "pambahay" already. She just loves MM so much. She was better during Ghe's (my sister in law) birthday dinner celebration.

Both the kids are all better now, thank goodness! Roey's finished her antibiotics yesterday. I just hope both of them recover their lost appetite and weight too. No more sickness please.

My HS friends normally plan a get together after the holidays since we didn't really want to bother each other's busy schedules. Ha ha!

And, most of the time, this is where we meet up - Jollibee SM City NE Main building. I was with both my kids that day and we weren't really ready with all the gifts so our gifts aren't wrapped at all. No surprise element, I must say. I have mentioned in my previous post that I wasn't really with me that season, right? I guess preparing for the holidays was not in my system too.

So there we were, Allan & Bernadette who's 5 months pregnant with their kids, Sean and Jay Jay. Ariel & Amie with Karl and Amiel. And Rose who just dropped by to give her gifts since she was with her sister and said they needed to go some place else for something important.

There were already food when we arrived. The kids eagerly opened their gifts and played right after eating. While of course, moms had a nice chit-chat while Allan and Ariel were on stand by mode. LoL! Ronald was not with us since he was at work.

Ate K and Sean. A very slim girl and a chubby not that big yet boy. They were of the same age and have that friendly fondness even if they rarely see each other. I always wish Sean could give some fats and muscles to Ate K. Haha!

Our meet up was a little short than usual but I am sure there'll ne another one as Bernadette will be giving birth soon. I will have to prepare some of my daughters' tiny dresses because she is finally having a baby girl!

27th month!

made this!

And sang, "Oh Mr. Sun! Sun! Mr. Golden sun! Please shine down on me!"

She's turned 27th months last January 27 and is growing up so fast I am having to catch up. She's been so talkative, sings a lot, dances a lot more and can already act. Am I gonna be a real stage mother in the future? Ha! Ha!

Happy 27th month darling Roey!

domino.

Every now and then, we realize that we are in the middle of life's drama. Or should I say that drama itself has pretty well existed just like everyday's miracle?

Going through life's test isn't as easy as passing an entrance examination. It's totally tough to weigh, think and feel when you are already in it..in that situation. Deep and thorough - that's how it cuts! It is painful. I am not sure how I can not over react. Is it a gift to be understanding? Is it good to be open minded? Is it best to be forgiving?

I still don't know. All I know is I am taking chances (again!) and still hopeful. I am but thankful for HIM above..HE is definitely my savior. He has always been everything I needed through bad and good times. HE is the reason why I was never afraid even if I am at my weakest.

I will never again neglect ME, and that's something I would like to ensure myself.

Christmas 2011

I can't help but feel a little different last Christmas. It could be because I'm again missing Mama. This is our 2nd Christmas without her. But she's at a better place I know, and in fact, she's with the birthday celebrant. She's sure happier in heaven. Another reason it is a little different is we weren't able to shop for gift items to give to our friends and family. It was like everything was in a rush.

Our Christmas day was busy and fun! We first went to hubby's aunt in Project 8. Photo shows Auntie Estela, Kuya Robert behind, Ate Keanna, Gabby, Kate, Roey, Tatay and Kenneth.

Then we're off to Howmart Road and had a blast of fun. I didn't know my relatives are having a Christmas party that day so I decided to just purchase lots of candies to share instead. The girls had so much fun playing, singing and dancing. We had a great time laughing during the exchange gift giving part of the party.

Roey was really excited to be with her "mama" Jham Jham and Kuya Jeremy. Keanna was in excitement to play with Chi and Adhara too.

My "rich" girls tried counting the blessings (in the form of money) given to them. I am their treasurer of course, just like every mom. =)

We also visited my cousins and aunts the next day at Muñoz, Quezon City the next day. We also had fun singing and chit-chatting.

When I was little, I call Aunt Baby my Auntie-Ninang (Aunt and Godmother at the same time). In this photo together, I can see her resemblance with Mama. That has made me miss Mama more.

To sum it up, we had a fun filled Christmas! As long as the kids are happy, I am happier!

I can say that I have been so blessed to have a happy childhood and so as gained many friends too. The memories and experiences we've all shared are definitely worth looking back. We all can't help but feel nostalgic during the holidays, right?

And now, here are our latest photos together. We had a small get together last December 17 at Jo's place and it was really fun. Ate Dylin who we believed to be in Hong Kong surprised us by her presence. We had a chance to look back at past. Our craziness & childish ways before are now things that we can laugh about. Each of us has something to share and shared. Our thoughts and experiences are always considered as a "learning" to each one of us. I truly treasure my childhood friends. I wouldn't go on the details but time and chances have tested us. For me, our friendship is spelled F-O-R-E-V-E-R!
Last Thursday, we visited her grave and reminisced how wonderful she was for all us. Both my daughters, 5 of my cousins and Mama's 3 sisters were with me as we pay tribute to our beloved, Salvacion. I showed them the AVP I made for Mama months ago. In it were old photos and it brought back memories and laughter too.

I may miss Mama a lot but life has to move on. I always tell and remind myself to be strong for my kids. I always mention that I want to be like Mama, in many ways. I regret not to have fulfilled some her dreams for the family but I can still do it for my kids.

I was never an alcoholic back when I was a teenager. I guess it just didn't get into my nerves at all. I occasionally drink but knows when to say NO when I had to stop. Most often than not, I assign myself to be on guard to my friends who gets drunk most of the time. I am not sure when I learned to take that kind of responsibility even if not asked.

It was very recent when my childhood friends and I got the chance to meet up at one of our friend's house. We were served with a light alcoholic drink and since I came there with both my kids, I only had 2 bottles. I know that's enough for me. It is somehow saddening that based on this chart, there are really a lot of alcohol drinkers in the US and I am pretty sure that the stats would have been so high if it was done worldwide. Anyways, I wouldn't like to see my kids to be regulars in terms of alcohol intake. Besides it being bad to our health, it has become bad to the character too. Occasional drinking is definitely fine.

Couple's Time: Dating

It is hubby's birthday today but I have not prepared anything special yet. He got so busy with work that we never get to have couple's time anymore. No more dating. Quite disappointing indeed. But, I make it a point to initiate intimate talks, cuddles and even invitation to at least go out together as a couple. It has been a while since the last time we went on a date. I was never an envious person but feel a little envy for those who really take time to set time for their partners. Alright, it's his birthday and I shouldn't be feeling this way. I will make it a point to cook spaghetti or Carbonara instead. The latter has become his favorite and I am proud that it's because of my recipe. =)

Anyways, I have a friend who is now happily dating someone she met. He was introduced by their common friend. I am happy for her now that she's find herself someone to be with. She's searched for companionship for sometime and have experienced heartaches and gone through the dramas of it too. When she was back to her feet and composed, she's tried online dating but didn't succeed. I was one of those who reminded her that love is not something you have to chase, for it will come in its perfect timing. I truly wish that perfect time for her is now and the perfect guy is him.

Speaking of online dating site, I have never really explored the sites available out there simply because I am not seeking for myself at all. I have even heard and read that there are sites that offer dating for parents. I just realized that it is true that when the advent of online dating came, it somehow became a phenomenon. Some find their special someone in the comfort of their home, online! There are pros and cons of course just like in everything. One of the benefits is time saving. Instead of having to meet and go out with a dozen of people, you will be able to browse and peruse profiles from the dating site in just a matter of few clicks. Since you get to choose whose profiles to go through and review, you also get to pick who to chat with or talk to. Another good thing about it is you get to connect or be with the people that shares the same interests you have. It somehow makes meeting people a lot easier. Some can also be choosy about who you date like this year Xfactor winners Little Mix. Besides, one can stay anonymous until you find who really interests you.

Along with these positive sides of dating sites comes the negative side too. There could be more cons than the pros actually.

* First, men can always lie about their marital status. Since a person can be anonymous, you really cannot tell whether the information given in someone's profile is the truth.
* Some online dating sites would require you to shell out a good amount of money before you can even reply to a profile.
* It promotes in an indirect way of antisocial behavior because you aren't physically together to build a healthy social relationship. You do everything inside the walls of your home.
* You are bound to risk meeting a possible weirdo, pervert or someone dangerous. To avoid this, one should be strictly careful.

So, whether you would like to try online dating or not, being cautious is still very important. This post may have not enumerated everything to know about online dating sites but I am hoping that I was able to impart something for you to think about. Just remember - "All that glitters is not gold".

Now, let me go ahead. I'll have to park the mouse and rest the keyboard... will start to prepare for my own date. =)

Now, these are just few of the words we misuse, I am definite that there are more that can be added in the list. No, I am not the grammar police. I am no perfect in grammar too. I just feel the need to have this shown to serve as a reminder to myself, to other bloggers and my readers as well. If we speak almost perfect English then let's not be a victim, write the right way!

It's A Guy Thing

It recently surprised me when I saw him opened our default browser and started reading used car reviews online. It gave me a little excitement which made me sit beside him and read too. He then mentioned that cars are a guy's thing.

I may not agree with him a hundred percent but I do not find interest in cars if we talk about it as a machine. I am more interested in how it looks like, the color, and in its purpose. I am even dreaming of enrolling myself in a driving school. I plan to learn how to drive and be able to buy even a used car for the family. I guess the reason behind is I have never learned how to drive hubby's motorcycle for I find it too heavy for the petite me.

My husband's sudden interest made me browse for photos of cars. I even created a board of nice and interesting cars via Pinterest. I have read a few information about family cars, so as browsed comparisons of brand new and used cars ( in terms of quality & pricing of course!). After I saw a used small Peugeot 206 photo from an online marketplace, I already know this particular style suits my taste. A super mini car that fits a mommy in style. I found out that Peugeot 206 was originally launched as a hatchback. Five door cars really catches my interest as I always see the feature to be very useful for travels. And since this particular car is small, a gal like me can always use it and consider it as "a girl thing" too.

What To Give Him or Her?

Almost everyone has their Christmas shopping list and of course, for a Mom, kids' clothes will not be off that special list. Buying clothes for the kids can be a mix of delight and excitement for babies and toddlers but can also be a challenge for the tween and teens.

Planning and making a list before heading to the department store is one key to save - time and money of course! Now that I have two kids, I will have to drop by on different clothing sections. Aside from looking for the correct children's clothing sizes , a wise buyer has to consider the cost and quality too just like what's available at The White Company. We have to keep in mind that kids especially babies grow fast, so it is best to always get the next bigger size there is. Also, it is never a sin to get clothes that are on bargain whether online or directly from the clothing store.

I make it a point to also sort, take inventory and pull out outgrown clothes before I shop for my elder daughter. These clothes either go for donating, selling, storing or given to a younger or smaller kid friend or relative. I also check what my fourth grader have in mind, clothing style and preference that is. By her age, she's started to develop her own sense of style. All I can do now is discuss the limitations regarding styles and costs.

A JOYful Meet Up

She's lucky to have won in their Facebook contest and shared delicious treats with me.

We had lunch at Pizza Hut and headed to The Parvati Store for the much awaited dessert. Roey and I took home a Carrot Cake and a Triple Decker Chocolate Cheesecake while Joy had a Red Velvet Cake and box of Custaroons. I was surprised that Joy said she's not into cheesecakes after I picked the Triple Decker. I just can't resist how delicious the triple decked cheesecake looked like. The chocolate glazed on top of the soft cheesecake and so as the crunchy sweet crust was so appealing that I cannot say no to the dessert at all. It was sweeter surprise when Joy handed me the bag with the Carrot cake with it.

It was Roey's first time to have met Joy, so she wasn't really responding or reacting to her (yet) when we were having lunch. But, as soon as we escorted Joy to the exit of the Trinoma mall which serves as the entrance to the North Avenue MRT station, she blurted out a loud cry. There was a sudden attachment and the fact that a new friend is leaving, she felt so sad. I have to really be convincing when I told her that they will see each other again and we will see Santa Claus if we head over the grocery store. There wasn't a live Santa but I am glad there was a Santa decor near the giant Christmas tree at the entrance of the grocery store. We dropped by the bank for credit card payment, bought "Bangus Belly Sinigang" at the food court and headed home. I was surprise that the toddler only fell asleep in the cab when we were about to get off but instantly forgot about her nap upon seeing her Dad.

Thank you Joy!

It was a memorable meet up. A delicious one to be exact.

Thank you for the lunch, sweet treats and the cute hand-me-down clothes too!

Call Her Chuchay!

She's kind enough to have allowed her little sister to own it instead. Roey can't talk straight yet but we were surprised she's given the stuffed bear a name.

She would look for Chuchay as soon as her eyes open every morning. She would want Chuchay to be beside her before she get to sleep at night. She wants Chuchay to be with her/bring with her every time we go out. She would allow Chuchay to sit either beside her in a stool or on top of the table when she eats. She was even teary eyed one time looking for Chuchay when she was already holding her (she thought she was holding a bag) haha! She cried out loud when I had to hang Chuchay outside to dry after they took a bath together. I would even catch her talk to the teddy bear and kiss it's nose ( she sucked them before she was one!). Tell me she isn't addicted with Chuchay please!

Now that Ate K showed 2 more Teddy Bears (Tedi & Bubblegum), she wants to carry all 3 with her almost all the time. LoL! I guess it does help her learn many things as well. She would observe and giggle as I play pretend with her. Pretending to feed Chuchay makes her happy and for sure develops her abilities to observe and comprehend. So I guess it is really best to have Ate K and Chuchay as her first close friends.

Early Christmas Gifts

We had a great time at Conti's in Trinoma. And she's so nice to have given us these:

The kids were excited with their new tees so the next week, they both wore the Gap tees as we head over to Toy Kingdon in SM City The Block.

We were suppose to check out the Richwell sale that day but I was hesitant having them with me plus the fact that it was raining hard at that day. I decided not to go, said "pass" on that big warehouse sale. There's still a lot coming up for sure. Besides, I would need more than enough money so I can also get something for other kids that are special to us. I decided to head over the parlor/spa after going to the post office.

At the post office, I was able to claim a pretty headband and bow from Girly Girl Boutique. Sent 4 post cards to friends too.

The Foot Spa procedure cost me just Php250 and it was worth it. It was very soothing and relaxing too. Their staff who took care of me was also a Mom like myself and was very accommodating and nice.

I was hesitant to post my feet photo but I so love the Blue Violet nail polish and decided to still show off my ginger-looking-toes. My elder daughter was advised by her dermatologist not to directly hold chalks because it leaves particles in her hand which causes it to itch and develop rashes. In addition, ordinary chalk's particles floats in the air which we get to inhale. With a dustless chalk, this can be avoided. Its particles are too heavy which directly falls to the ground instead of floating. My elder daughter didn't complain of itching after using it. She enjoyed drawing for her younger sister, actually.

2nd Birth Anniversary

Weddings are a once in a lifetime event, so every woman's dream is for it to be special, if not very special. It's a dream come true. Just like in fairy tales, it is the start of a happy-ever-after. Along with all the excitement is the thrill and so as the worries wedding preparations may bring. It has to be just perfect, right?

I remember to have helped a friend and a cousin during the preparations of their " I Do!" days. Of course, I am part of the entourage too. And at that young age, I have realized that there are indeed a lot to prepare for a special event like weddings. Luckily, there were a lot of magazines you can rely on for party and wedding checklists. Internet wasn't that grand at the time. We are lucky that wedding checklists are now available online. And, it is not just the checklists but so as wedding planners. There are numerous wedding organizers that makes all the preparations an ease for the bride and groom.

From planning every little detail including ideas for unique wedding favours up to the execution of each of these plans in every ceremony that may be included. Now the said planning, preparations and so as decision making takes months so as not to miss any important detail. Yes, even the place card holders for weddings.

There are numerous things we have to consider too in getting a wedding planner for a very special event. Cost, reliability & availability, location, packages and word-of-mouth does help a lot too. You may want to ask friends and relatives too on whom to rely on when it comes to planning your special wedding. The wedding should turn out perfectly - a happy and memorable one - just like every couple's dream.

Princesses In Style

We attended Isabel's 7th birthday last Saturday which was held at Max's Restaurant, Robinson's Galleria in Ortigas. My girls and so as all the kids were requested to come in their Prince and Princess costumes. Keanna wore her Pink & Blue gown. It was her gown from a friend's wedding when she was asked to be the flower girl. Roey, on the other hand, wore a Red ball dress which is another hand-me-down from Ninang Irish which originally came from another friend in Colorado. Of course, their tiara's completed the princess look.

Since last Saturday was the 10th month since Mama passed away and we were not able to visit her, Roey and I decided to drop by the cemetery last Monday instead. Right after we went to Ate Keanna's school ( it is their exam week), we bought flowers and spent few minutes at Mama's grave.

My little fashionista is turning 2 in few days and in the second photo, she wore yet another hand-me-down set. The White blouse and the denims are again given by Ninang Irish. Her cute blouse is from our friend in CDO and the denims are from North Carolina (if I am not mistaken). Just so you'd know, there were times that she picks what she wants to wear, even in shoes. She's developing her own style at a very young age, I must say.

Join BC Bloggers

Why? Well, aside from the lack of time, the big time reason is that we don't have any internet connection for almost 7 days now. What a waste of time, right? I am currently using a Globe Tattoo USB stick and my SIM card to connect to the net. Thanks to a dear friend for lending this to me. I missed a lot of opportunities in blogging and in ODesk. I can't go and rent a computer everyday when I have a toddler in tow. I tried it for 2 hours but realized it's totally difficult. This week has been so stressful. Doubts, fear, anger, irritation, pain, happiness and a lot more type of emotion consisted this week.
I can no longer count as to how many times I have called the technical support department of Globe Broadband to follow up on our connection issues. Now, I think the stress this week has brought me has added colds and a possible UTI..ouch! I'm gonna have to do a water and Buko juice therapy to self heal. I really don't want to rely on taking medicines at once unless necessary. And while we didn't have any internet access, I took time to read, watch, play and do the laundry.

Still I have tons of clothes to iron and fold. But, Roey here is quite different from her big sister. She's become so fond of Barney that no one's allowed to use the portable DVD player other than her. So addicted to Barney that no other movie can be played. Well, she agreed to watch Blue's Clues a while ago but did not ask to have it repeated unlike the "Barney Goes To School" which she watched for about 4x yesterday. I actually don't have anything against Barney, it's just that Ate K is already complaining she can't watch Barbie, SSC and Hannah Montana anymore especially when the toddler is awake. Just so you'd know, the portable DVD player was our birthday gift to Ate K last year, so it's hers. The fact gives her the right to complain but as I always tell her, sharing is FUN! And that's what they learned from Barney too. Ha! Ha!

We got a package today containing 3 VCDs, Hi5, Barney & Angelina Ballerina. It was a present from my boss based in UK, John. He's so nice to have Christine of Arteta Online to buy and have these sent to us. Roey got sick if you would remember which somehow made me skip work. My boss understood the situation being a parent himself and insisted to have something for my little girl. It's really nice that we are surrounded by people with good hearts. Thank you John & Christine. Oh! Did you know that Christine makes pretty pettiskirts? Check out her website, The Pettiskirt.
