So now I am officially way behind on sharing Elfie's adventures. I just haven't felt like sitting at the computer, editing pictures, creating storyboards, and composing posts the past few days. It takes a lot (a WHOLE lot) of time. And I really wanted to take a few days to do something non Christmas related.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I went shopping at T.J. Maxx and got myself a new purse, and then to JoAnns for some pretty fabric, foam and velcro. I followed <a href="http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2012/03/turn-a-purse-into-a-padded-camera-bag.html#" target="_blank">this tutorial</a> and made myself a padded camera bag insert!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3UDbpMHORoDrGnldPzodU5qzrDmLI8i3sGO4toFd5N7HBKqrqizoEn3hVMRgsYABbbzpIY3SqTHnbf9CrRtQImAOfRBHaebprMVEuRu_zStTynAhjHQQ005hn9J1YCRNd4qwGaPLwt7CU/s1600/Camera+Bag+Insert+Instagram.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3UDbpMHORoDrGnldPzodU5qzrDmLI8i3sGO4toFd5N7HBKqrqizoEn3hVMRgsYABbbzpIY3SqTHnbf9CrRtQImAOfRBHaebprMVEuRu_zStTynAhjHQQ005hn9J1YCRNd4qwGaPLwt7CU/s1600/Camera+Bag+Insert+Instagram.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<br />
This is a quick <a href="http://followgram.me/seriouslydaisies" target="_blank">Instagram</a> picture I took. It is seriously awesome. I added a few extras not included in the tutorial, like pockets on the outside to hold some extra stuf, like memory cards, my wireless remote, and cleaning wipes.<br />
<br />
I love it!! And I plan on keeping an eye out for the perfect yellow or turquoise bag as well. It has to be the right size, it has to have a flat bottom, and it has to have a messenger strap included. The one in the picture (for $24.99 from T.J. Maxx) does, and it's not the color I was planning on buying, but I still really like it, and it can be dressed up or down. The padded insert will also fit in a couple other bags I own, and I am SO SO SO happy I don't have to use my ugly black backpack every time I want to bring my camera with me!!!<br />

Riley was actually excited to visit Santa this year. And it is the first time ever that he didn't cry. Of course he was still kinda scared of him, but he was old enough understand who Santa was, and he wanted to make sure to tell him what he wanted for Christmas (<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004T2X8/ref=s9_simh_gw_p21_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0Y43HB3WTCCH126FD4ZV&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846" target="_blank">a Lady train</a>- which is of course, discontinued, so it's expensive, but I was able to find one on ebay for $19.99, yay!!!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So he walked up to him, but he wouldn't let go of my hand. Somehow I managed to get him to sit next to Santa, and when he gave him a sucker, he finally let go. Mitch told me to get out of the way, and they managed to snap a picture, before Riley jumped down and dragged me back over. Then while I was holding his hand again, and helping interpret, he told Santa that he wanted a train, that he wanted Lady. This was the first time he had ever talked to Santa, and it was very cute to watch. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFhyCVWytU5xeqH-kqQtqVNAhhZ8TyEDaA9RfdeMWPYW2nk2U0aTxxb0LHF-7jBBwBpKR7NZoquuAZUdeMi0MTzLXX3K0w9vxRZim11Z26uvYFqTE0EXjk9G5Wiry0-Wh4K-JoB5zNqiB-/s1600/Riley+&+Santa+2012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFhyCVWytU5xeqH-kqQtqVNAhhZ8TyEDaA9RfdeMWPYW2nk2U0aTxxb0LHF-7jBBwBpKR7NZoquuAZUdeMi0MTzLXX3K0w9vxRZim11Z26uvYFqTE0EXjk9G5Wiry0-Wh4K-JoB5zNqiB-/s1600/Riley+&+Santa+2012.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<br />
After our visit, we went to the play area, and rode all the coin operated toys (a quad, airplane, hot dog van, train, there were a bunch). He liked that! Then we stopped at the gum ball machines, and I let Riley put a quarter in, and get some candy out. I loved gum ball machines as a kid, so it was kinda cool to see Riley experience it for the first time. :):)<br />

I'm sorry I didn't post for a few days. I've been exhausted the past week. And I was gonna post yesterday, but it was my birthday (I"m 30!!!!) and my sister come up to visit me. So I'm a little behind now, but I figured that was bound to happen, so I'm not gonna worry about it. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On day 3, Elfie made Riley a plate of sprinkle donuts, and donut holes. Next time Elfie won't start the donuts (that have a couple hours of rising to do) at midnight!! Needless to say, I was up really, really, really late that night, and didn't wanna get up the next morning.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjl3blcJSkfoZy9VbFwjDkLKiw-216Fum7QFM3K8ACoq1IybeFN_Bqfve0sZjeiV9Px-LxoWngcugVt76ldsgRmRGLEcEBArj6pVhxrbTVnT1vywX-XHQOdKLaVX7M5FcK5ZwfAZIUg5sGs/s1600/Day+3+Elfie's+Note+to+Riley.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjl3blcJSkfoZy9VbFwjDkLKiw-216Fum7QFM3K8ACoq1IybeFN_Bqfve0sZjeiV9Px-LxoWngcugVt76ldsgRmRGLEcEBArj6pVhxrbTVnT1vywX-XHQOdKLaVX7M5FcK5ZwfAZIUg5sGs/s1600/Day+3+Elfie's+Note+to+Riley.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<br />
Elfie's donut breakfast also included hot chocolate with marshmallows. Yummy! And a special spot was set at the table, just for Riley.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Riley thought breakfast was awesome. He wouldn't touch the big donuts (he said they had holes in them, haha) but he did enjoy a donut hole, he drank most of his hot chocolate, and ate lots of marshmallows.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Later that day, we went to visit Santa. I think I'll do a quick post about our visit in a bit. :)<br />

For his second night of fun Elfie decided to raid Riley's toys, and build a giant tower! It's a combo of magneatos, legos, stacking cups and books with a Hershey's kiss on top.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's the note he left for Riley:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkrSyZDQRfI9xdBTUY8UaexVCBZyUc4psWwOh7dyYs7l9R4ZPNEM0d3xtqIlJUF-8g6U4mLbELYeWwwTZwsVoEuLXzFKejBWfF4dSPQ5C3PLDEw_nQfmVXV1aSZsQgjb9ill7cqkpt6O61/s1600/Day+2+Elfie's+Note+to+Riley.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkrSyZDQRfI9xdBTUY8UaexVCBZyUc4psWwOh7dyYs7l9R4ZPNEM0d3xtqIlJUF-8g6U4mLbELYeWwwTZwsVoEuLXzFKejBWfF4dSPQ5C3PLDEw_nQfmVXV1aSZsQgjb9ill7cqkpt6O61/s1600/Day+2+Elfie's+Note+to+Riley.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<br />
He pulled the ottomans out from under the toy box, and built the tower on top of them. It helped make it even taller. Plus it prevented Chumba from knocking the whole thing over in the middle of the night.<br />
<br />
He also used some letter magnets and alphabet legos to leave Riley a message. :):)<br />
<br />
Then he got inside the tower and decided to relax until Riley got up.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9SFKAch4BKXsO8wzblBEsg94q-yMSG49KspJvJe5huoJvYNFZZKdQv1WDR0H2YL3_wBt6K-ZsiytOCz6JGBxo8fqFPJse53eHwGTxlA7ew6nFDgVCAVJP_v1rKFPYFXgt1fJ9gwRWqph5/s1600/The+Adventures+of+Elfie+2012+Day+2+(1).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9SFKAch4BKXsO8wzblBEsg94q-yMSG49KspJvJe5huoJvYNFZZKdQv1WDR0H2YL3_wBt6K-ZsiytOCz6JGBxo8fqFPJse53eHwGTxlA7ew6nFDgVCAVJP_v1rKFPYFXgt1fJ9gwRWqph5/s1600/The+Adventures+of+Elfie+2012+Day+2+(1).jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<br />
Riley spotted the kiss immediately. He gobbled it up, and left the wrapper in it's place, haha. Then he took Elfie out and put some wrapped books (from day 1) inside the tower. He knocked it over in the process. But that's okay, cause he had other plans to make the tower even taller!!<br />
<br />
He got out all of his alphabet legos, and with Daddy's help he stacked every one of them on top. He did all the work, but had to stand on a kitchen chair to reach, and needed Daddy's help to balance. I was shocked they all went up without falling!!<br />
<br />
He was rather impressed with his creation. I have the cutest picture of him sitting on the arm of the green chair taking pictures of it. In case you hadn't noticed, he hates clothing, and is butt naked all the time (even today when it was snowing outside), and of course he was naked in that picture, so no sharing. But it was so sweet, and he sooooo takes after me, taking pictures of his projects, and doing whatever it takes to get that perfect shot. It's super cute to watch him do his thing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghKimYJkU2fgEXZ0A9HNKLQSBtL6NOXw4khbYa3_J7EbBrfp75-zjIzU-9W3EWeRyhLKPACJ7AllLsBsB-nwzUhnoBdYN4YV-8Ubiqnd7Qu9Tvmqp77hDMPBqsk7gzuad7s0gtl5ZciLke/s1600/The+Adventures+of+Elfie+2012+Day+2+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghKimYJkU2fgEXZ0A9HNKLQSBtL6NOXw4khbYa3_J7EbBrfp75-zjIzU-9W3EWeRyhLKPACJ7AllLsBsB-nwzUhnoBdYN4YV-8Ubiqnd7Qu9Tvmqp77hDMPBqsk7gzuad7s0gtl5ZciLke/s1600/The+Adventures+of+Elfie+2012+Day+2+(2).jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<br />
So that's it. Elfie needs to print out some coloring pages for tonight, and I need to go watch The Vampire Diaries, and maybe some Nikita before i go to bed. Good night.<br />

Yesterday I introduced you to Elfie. We are actually on day 5 already, but I've been busy crocheting another elf for my sisters kids, we visited Santa, and have been busy with Christmas and non-Christmas stuff. So I wasn't even sure if I was gonna share our adventures here on the blog. But I decided yesterday that since I was sharing with all my Facebook friends already, I might as well share over here too!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used the first day to start an awesome Christmas tradition I seen on Pinterest (<a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/204421270557737218/" target="_blank">here</a>) the pin doesn't actually lead anywhere, which normally drives me nuts, but I loved the idea so much, I repinned anyways. You can read Elfie's letter below for details if you want. I'm using the line art I bought on all of Elfie's letters and notes, kinda like his own personalized stationary.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw4DUHDJyTm5MQJlrUaEuuPqSkQA7XjJsjm-1Pv3qRjMOwapoKd9Tk3uOKBPpPJY5NvmPVp2c0WjcbWFEgbbUBP2LbHaZCMC2hvRRW8y2X_oAVgmua0bIkY6wdvY-X2ObYzzghBGNhNmFK/s1600/Day+1+Elfie's+Letter+to+Riley.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjw4DUHDJyTm5MQJlrUaEuuPqSkQA7XjJsjm-1Pv3qRjMOwapoKd9Tk3uOKBPpPJY5NvmPVp2c0WjcbWFEgbbUBP2LbHaZCMC2hvRRW8y2X_oAVgmua0bIkY6wdvY-X2ObYzzghBGNhNmFK/s1600/Day+1+Elfie's+Letter+to+Riley.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<br />
He only wrapped enough books for the week, I think tonight I (he) will wrap the rest. I used books that we already had, although Riley thinks that all the book are new, because I used some that were in his bookshelves upstairs, that don't get read as often. I did order a couple new books too, and will wrap those with some more from Riley's library tonight.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1Y-vu90AvKvOfJIXao4K9Nh7Rc03pbxLeWP3qN-ex5eM34K0_sMizRsBCXfjX99rWnOWJQYul-y3a6ANV4PMt2oPWs2xrYWgdQk4ca_WQusCvnNINnXN00SJ-amTRXIqeRrtztaDcg5zk/s1600/The+Adventures+of+Elfie+2012+Day+1+(1).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1Y-vu90AvKvOfJIXao4K9Nh7Rc03pbxLeWP3qN-ex5eM34K0_sMizRsBCXfjX99rWnOWJQYul-y3a6ANV4PMt2oPWs2xrYWgdQk4ca_WQusCvnNINnXN00SJ-amTRXIqeRrtztaDcg5zk/s1600/The+Adventures+of+Elfie+2012+Day+1+(1).jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<br />
All Riley could talk about all day, was the adventures Elfie was gonna have that night while he was asleep. And Elfie was the first thing he asked about in the morning. He was thrilled to find him when we came downstairs.<br />
<br />
We read the letter together, then I explained that we would open a book when it got dark, but Riley couldn't wait for night time to open a book. So of course I let him open one that morning, and also one that night. The books have been a big hit. Every night when it gets dark, Riley asks to open a book, then we grab our Christmas blanket, lay it on the floor next to the tree, and Elfie, Riley and me (and Daddy if he's not working) lay down and read a book. It's nice. And I like that it is teaching my little 3 year old patience, which is an added bonus to our sweet new tradition.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEir9h48OeKchf9BX-XmakScXS3F5EEBeq72RV7pr6n9heuejo9CjO5qQmBGtS1qmbT3LiW0rkPD8SWvQQl6wRhkp4ZwNWyFHgfXipaOdICzOwbUIau0bq4XtNzaANdbXkN2ptIE-B4Ha4RX/s1600/The+Adventures+of+Elfie+2012+Day+1+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEir9h48OeKchf9BX-XmakScXS3F5EEBeq72RV7pr6n9heuejo9CjO5qQmBGtS1qmbT3LiW0rkPD8SWvQQl6wRhkp4ZwNWyFHgfXipaOdICzOwbUIau0bq4XtNzaANdbXkN2ptIE-B4Ha4RX/s1600/The+Adventures+of+Elfie+2012+Day+1+(2).jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was a little nervous about how Elfie's magical adventures would go ever with Riley, and had plans for some magic dust (glitter) that would make him sleep (meaning no night time adventures) if Riley was scared. But he LOVES everything about it. And last night he even woke up in the middle of the night, and snuck in the kitchen to see what Elfie was up to, haha.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'll be back with more fun tomorrow! See you then! :)</div>

I love the idea of Elf on the Shelf. Well, at least the magical fun he has every night. I'm not a huge fan of the spying for Santa. I mean it's cool for other parents, but just not my thing. And I hate that the kids aren't supposed to touch him. Again I get why, but I know my kid, and that just wouldn't work.</div>

Plus he's not very cute. So I decided to do a similar idea, but where I crochet the elf, and make up our own rules (you will see them in the letter to Riley in my next Elfie post).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started by searching for elf graphics. I found cute elf line art (digital stamps) <a href="http://www.scrappindoodles.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=52&products_id=5321" target="_blank">here</a>, and colored him in Photoshop. See??</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbBKL4WSAFGPnjPwnBe7BB7AMZJtJ1kCrTiHsoxU6ESYIBm4fjpGeDAE-_HHq7L_QDiHCiaXX9Qydp97SyEDJHREJc9RtNKGa963rzfrTArgClDqbQo0xupDCNUvgWER5hVs4Y63G56pAE/s1600/Elf+Inspiration.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbBKL4WSAFGPnjPwnBe7BB7AMZJtJ1kCrTiHsoxU6ESYIBm4fjpGeDAE-_HHq7L_QDiHCiaXX9Qydp97SyEDJHREJc9RtNKGa963rzfrTArgClDqbQo0xupDCNUvgWER5hVs4Y63G56pAE/s1600/Elf+Inspiration.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Cute, huh? Then I searched for a crochet elf pattern (I didn't have the time or desire to start from scratch) and I found this one: <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ernie-and-erline-elf" target="_blank">here</a> (you can also buy it <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/86367190/ernie-and-erline-elf-crochet-amigurumi?ref=sr_gallery_7&ga_search_query=amigurumi+elf+pattern&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=all" target="_blank">here</a>). It's adorable, and I knew it'd be perfect for this project!! I made a couple modifications, and added a few things to make him look like the graphic above. I noted all the changes <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/projects/SeriouslyDaisies/ernie-and-erline-elf" target="_blank">here in my Ravelry account</a>. Just in case you wanna make your own! :):)</div>

To give you an idea of his size, here is a picture I took of him and Riley in front of the Christmas Tree. Total cuteness!!! I am gonna share our daily (nightly) adventures here on my blog. We didn't start on December 1st like I planned, cause I wasn't done with him yet. But I don't think Riley minds. :)</div>

I know this post looks familiar to some of you. I promise I am not re-posting the same thing.<br />
<br />
I have my original pattern posted here: <a href="http://www.seriouslydaisies.com/2012/08/crochet-pattern-rainbow-nesting-bowls.html" target="_blank">Rainbow Nesting Bowls</a>. But I have gotten a lot of e-mails about the way I wrote out some of my increase rounds (rounds 4, 6, 8, 10 & 12). This is the way I increase when I crochet anything round. I hate getting that hexagon shape!! And I felt very strongly about writing my pattern out this way. I hope it has helped some crocheters that had never heard of increasing evenly. When I was a new crocheter I was so grateful to came across this blog (<a href="http://monkeyhousefull.blogspot.com/2010/03/is-it-circle-or-hexagon.html" target="_blank">http://monkeyhousefull.blogspot.com/2010/03/is-it-circle-or-hexagon.html</a>) explaining it.<br />
<br />
So, I have decided to keep the original pattern, but for those of you that are having a hard time with it, or have your own way of evenly increasing, or just prefer the pattern written out more normal (haha), I have decided to post an updated version.<br />
<br />
Your bowls will turn out the same as my original pattern, I have just written out those 5 rounds differently. :)<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<b><span style="font-size: large;">MATERIALS</span></b><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>US F5/3.75mm Crochet Hook</li>
<li>Worsted Weight Yarn in purple, blue, green, yellow, orange and red (I used "Red Heart Super Saver" in Lavender, Turqua, Spring Green, Bright Yellow, Pumpkin and Cherry Red).</li>
<li>Stitch Marker</li>
<li>Yarn Needle</li>
</ul>
<br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;">NOTES</span></b><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Rounds are worked in continuous spirals, do not join or turn.</li>
<li>Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning or end of each round. Make sure to move the marker up each time you start a new round.</li>
<li>I start with a magic ring, PlanetJune has a great tutorial for that <a href="http://www.planetjune.com/blog/tutorials/magic-ring-right-handed/" target="_blank">here</a>. You can substitute "ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook" for the magic ring and round 1, if you prefer.</li>
<li>I use an invisible fasten off, there is a great tutorial for that <a href="http://www.planetjune.com/blog/amigurumi-help/fastening-off/" target="_blank">here</a>, just scroll down to "invisible finish".</li>
<li>I always back weave my ends, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyvdsTz9Jso#" target="_blank">here</a> is a video showing you exactly the same method I use.</li>
<li>Nest the previous bowls inside the bowl you are working on (before fastening off) to make sure it is the right height. If your yarns vary in thickness (my purple is slightly thicker) you may have to add or subtract a round.</li>
<li>The height of the bowls can also be adjusted to your liking, just add more rounds until they are the desired height. </li>
</ul>

For some crazy reason I haven't been getting all of my comment notification e-mails. I think it's a Yahoo mail thing, cause I've had other random e-mails disappear, or ones that I know I should get never arrive. So when I remember I check blogger for new comments, but I can't e-mail back that way, I can only reply in the comments section. So if you don't hear from me, that's why. I promise I'm not ignoring you or being rude. :):):)</div>

Olga's baby shower was on Thursday. I co-hosted the shower with Olga's sister Marina. We kinda worked together the same way me and Liz did for Netta's baby shower last year. I did the dessert table and the entry table, and Marina took care of the food and the decorations.<br />

You know me, and of course I just have a teaser photo to post today.<br />
<br />
Here is the dessert table!!!<br />

<br />
I had a round table to work with this time, so I've been <a href="http://pinterest.com/srslydaisies/round-party-tables/" target="_blank">pinning round table ideas to Pinterest</a> for the past months or so. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but everyone loved it, especially Olga!<br />
<br />
I have lots of details to share. And I will soon (Haven't you heard that before, haha). But for the next couple of days I am going to catch up on all my new shows that are piling up on my DVR. And hang out with my little guy. Right now he is waiting for me to print out some letter "E" stuff, we have been slacking on "letter of the week" activities, and I promised him we would do something fun today. :)<br />

He is 31 years old now.<br />
<br />
Me and Riley baked him a cake.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs0CDjF7ZqVgCQM6icmhRuKZf59yrCHyrwOQ5MbApWxVmxnnWjwwxS8t55zdS29BJXklWaegMNJ7NOldn-rnA8SpG_wWMvDhp-28ZF8e0RAmkLK9C_SXbGrMk0VTym-UncfqJbDEcpUuBV/s1600/Rainbow+Cake.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs0CDjF7ZqVgCQM6icmhRuKZf59yrCHyrwOQ5MbApWxVmxnnWjwwxS8t55zdS29BJXklWaegMNJ7NOldn-rnA8SpG_wWMvDhp-28ZF8e0RAmkLK9C_SXbGrMk0VTym-UncfqJbDEcpUuBV/s1600/Rainbow+Cake.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<br />
We made it a rainbow cake, because we wanted to have balloons too. And we only had a multi color bag of balloons. That way everything would match. It was like a mini (super mini, haha) rainbow party. With cake and balloons and garland and cards.<br />
<br />
Those are all my favorite things about birthdays though. Especially cake. :)<br />

It's Grandma's last vacation of the year, and he has been with her since Monday. He comes back home in the morning. I totally had all these house projects lined up, that I was gonna get done, and share with you guys. Haha, that didn't happen.<br />
<br />
I did get one of those projects done, but then Mitch was off, and we went out for some grown up fun one night, then we went boating at the lake with some friends the next day. I got pulled on a giant tube, OMG, scary, and ouch!! I think Mitch gave me whiplash when he drove to boat, cause I was sore for days, but it was fun, and he really, reeeeeaaallly wanted me to do it, so I gave it a try just for him.<br />
<br />
The next few days me and Mitch hung out at home, we watched The Hunger Games, and went to bed super early, we were both worn out from the lake and lack of sleep. The next day I worked on Riley's nesting bowls, so they would be finished when he got back. I still need to make the red one, I went to do it, and realized my red yarn is attached to a hat I need to finish. I also got out my party stuff, and played around with different arrangements for the dessert table I'm planning for my friend Olga's baby shower next month.<br />
<br />
Yesterday I planned meals for the next 2 weeks and went grocery shopping extremely late. When you go that late around here, you have to ring up and bag all of your own stuff. I worked at Safeway for 7 years, so you wouldn't think that would be a problem, but it is so not the same, you have to go so slow, and you have to listen to things like "place the item back in the bagging area" and "the attendant has been notified to assist you" over and over again. Oh, well, I got it done, and everything was bagged the way I like too, so that's a plus!!<br />
<br />
So now we are to today!! And my plans to revamp the remaining items on my bookshelf did not go as planned. Maybe I will get it done, and share it next week instead.<br />
<br />
And since it has been a week since I posted, where does the time go, you are going to have to settle for me sharing another crochet project I did manage to finish last week before Riley left.<br />
<br />
It was a gift for my friend Olga. She is expecting her first baby this November. A little boy. I made the cutest hat and smallest little pair of booties for him to wear.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhojZ4q3OhmB8iajhy3iTnyd-6lfBEh9H1hEnW5p5Rr4LAtLJSCyBBMvXa2kW4qbOsdLGInMZsY80doUewKUVlP7hPvIL5kxxmLqFW3o4AIBjn_h_CPkf1RHhT4VnWyB4QEkjHcZVOry_Cs/s1600/Diamonds+Beanie+&+Button+Loafers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhojZ4q3OhmB8iajhy3iTnyd-6lfBEh9H1hEnW5p5Rr4LAtLJSCyBBMvXa2kW4qbOsdLGInMZsY80doUewKUVlP7hPvIL5kxxmLqFW3o4AIBjn_h_CPkf1RHhT4VnWyB4QEkjHcZVOry_Cs/s1600/Diamonds+Beanie+&+Button+Loafers.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The colors are so soft, so much different than what I used when Riley was a baby. They are also the colors I am planning to use at the baby shower!!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh52TUgVykwx8DGE5LUPCnL5mgMyTY44M9z9zcn63biOudblBXV40mSr0ZgjXHrUsEigSW3EgN3gNiCWfIb2_vS6NQbGvt2pDN4VSH_GR0dz7rMgbxEMuuJkoVLwqT-DORKfg-4pKOlUJg5/s1600/Diamonds+Beanie2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh52TUgVykwx8DGE5LUPCnL5mgMyTY44M9z9zcn63biOudblBXV40mSr0ZgjXHrUsEigSW3EgN3gNiCWfIb2_vS6NQbGvt2pDN4VSH_GR0dz7rMgbxEMuuJkoVLwqT-DORKfg-4pKOlUJg5/s1600/Diamonds+Beanie2.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This was my first time making the hat. I love it!! The texture is awesome, and it was so easy to make. You can buy the pattern <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/diamonds-beanie" target="_blank">here</a>. I have several patterns from Crochet My Love Designs, and although I've only made a few of them, they are fabulous and so cute!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_CMa8RlroSbL8i0JQSmO3XrN3OHMXRXx2V_atE6nLBP-YKTUBhhQbF3XXlDcUWAGh9_K6clK5JXFDHZY13Urs1qqHjY_2vu0y61GKlrFNjds0rUWuPWRd8nXxyHMv_gLliCQTqf1tWbjR/s1600/Little+Button+Loafers.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_CMa8RlroSbL8i0JQSmO3XrN3OHMXRXx2V_atE6nLBP-YKTUBhhQbF3XXlDcUWAGh9_K6clK5JXFDHZY13Urs1qqHjY_2vu0y61GKlrFNjds0rUWuPWRd8nXxyHMv_gLliCQTqf1tWbjR/s1600/Little+Button+Loafers.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The shoes are tiny little things. They are the smallest shoes I have ever made. The pattern is from <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-button-loafers-baby-booties" target="_blank">here</a>. Love it!!! Plan to make bunches more of these little loafers, you can also make them with one button, I wanna try them that way too. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
They are actually made using the same pattern as the pair I bought for Riley when he was a newborn. Here is a picture of him wearing his.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1J_jQT0aGGG3pt5jvX_yHwyuYzBT46Vx3vnTlKth8vIrxGsu8MEPweXWs94DHTEA7FdGBElAMr-JTmWwzX75x710c1ppnVnarUM3sC33tfyE-qJEDgYqEhxIoDpuUSDqN4bLV1f37oj_o/s1600/IMG_0414.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1J_jQT0aGGG3pt5jvX_yHwyuYzBT46Vx3vnTlKth8vIrxGsu8MEPweXWs94DHTEA7FdGBElAMr-JTmWwzX75x710c1ppnVnarUM3sC33tfyE-qJEDgYqEhxIoDpuUSDqN4bLV1f37oj_o/s1600/IMG_0414.JPG" width="550" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
He is 10 days old in this picture!! The shoes were a little big on him here, cause I ordered the 3-6 month size. The ones I made for Olga are Newborn size, so they are even smaller.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I can't even remember Riley being that tiny. I still have the shoes to remind me though. I got them out while I was making these ones to show Riley "his pair". He was so cute when he tried to put them on his feet, thinking that since they were his shoes, they should fit him.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well, it's time to go get dinner started, Mitch leaves for work in a few hours, and I don't want to be rushing. Plus I want to finish up that red hat, so I can finish up Riley's bowls before he gets home tomorrow. Hope you all are having a great weekend!!!</div>

But sometimes I have nothing new to share. Like now. I've spent the past week hanging out with Mitch and Riley, and crocheting. I could tell you all about it, how we hung out at home and played. How I worked on my fish game, and made a gift for my friends baby to be. How we went to our friends house and did some baby shower planning, and that yesterday was our anniversary, but Mitch had to work. And that I made two trips into town for some yarn for the monster hat I'm crocheting. But I have no pretty pictures to go with that stuff, at least not yet. :)<br />
<br />
And since I am a girl who likes lots of pictures, and thought you guys might too, I thought instead I would share the last project I finished. Cause I have pictures of that!!<br />
<br />
Crocheted sock monkey stuff!!!<br />
<br />
A sock monkey hat. I want to make one for me to wear this winter, or at least one for Riley. :):)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCNZ7hHwZQuje8XRwylQmh4mW38NxOjk5BDd-E0tbIjNNfvrC47jAP1FjWFCuj7UD0vJBaH8Z9hwkZ9OvQ_APuHF1vdnvFXUVT8VTwnj4gjqPvu0lp6k-lCJGWGJ0zsk6GdsM3WamLbnNF/s1600/Traditional+Sock+Monkey+Hat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCNZ7hHwZQuje8XRwylQmh4mW38NxOjk5BDd-E0tbIjNNfvrC47jAP1FjWFCuj7UD0vJBaH8Z9hwkZ9OvQ_APuHF1vdnvFXUVT8VTwnj4gjqPvu0lp6k-lCJGWGJ0zsk6GdsM3WamLbnNF/s1600/Traditional+Sock+Monkey+Hat.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
I've actually made this hat 3 times now, plus I made it in pink and gray a few times first. I love it. I bought the pattern <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sock-monkey-hat-with-earflaps-braids-and-pompom-or-flower" target="_blank">here</a>. It is awesome, and I've use it as a base for lots of other hats that I've made too.<br />
<br />
A fun sock monkey diaper cover, with a tail attached!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6j6csBxNne0JFG6I44YP7QUkJJI_Gqy9B6IraN1l4LWOsCL5gkodEKXyOirVVQgtrum0329l9OnJQKd0wtMQ8dJ_EoFjVwMmjoaGNaNMoLyFzPaD5vtWVCWU2Ejj2J1ChO6j2f3Ly0LGK/s1600/Sock+Monkey+Diaper+Cover1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6j6csBxNne0JFG6I44YP7QUkJJI_Gqy9B6IraN1l4LWOsCL5gkodEKXyOirVVQgtrum0329l9OnJQKd0wtMQ8dJ_EoFjVwMmjoaGNaNMoLyFzPaD5vtWVCWU2Ejj2J1ChO6j2f3Ly0LGK/s1600/Sock+Monkey+Diaper+Cover1.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've also made this 3 times, although I left the tail off for one of my friends. It is so cute, I am totally making cute diaper covers for any future babies I might have! I bought that pattern <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/diaper-cover-photo-prop-0-24-months" target="_blank">here</a>. It is a great pattern, with measurements included. I love it when baby stuff patterns include measurements, cause I don't have a baby handy to measure and I like to know I'm making things exactly the right size. Oh, and the pattern doesn't include the tail, I designed that myself, and just sewed it on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And finally sock monkey boots!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_HeuKm5-s5Z12JoWKAGOxIbvDKLOL-WwLg8Ry_xJDb9A2XPNKZadFIeIRfMvd1Yi1zgynhtdvNb6acdhdy-qi3671XNaRSaldkCtZBZwKtS7ous1lQzz3lr8ApfcRViTv-qRgU3phXbQh/s1600/Sock+Monkey+Goshalosh+Boots.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_HeuKm5-s5Z12JoWKAGOxIbvDKLOL-WwLg8Ry_xJDb9A2XPNKZadFIeIRfMvd1Yi1zgynhtdvNb6acdhdy-qi3671XNaRSaldkCtZBZwKtS7ous1lQzz3lr8ApfcRViTv-qRgU3phXbQh/s1600/Sock+Monkey+Goshalosh+Boots.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love these things. And they are so teeny tiny. They don't look look it in the picture, but they fit in my hand. Eeek!! One of my friends asked for these. He had seen the ones I had made in different colors, and wanted them to match the sock monkey hat and diaper cover. I was so excited to make him this set! Him and his fiance had been through a lot, experiencing a heartbreaking loss last year, then complications throughout the entire pregnancy. I felt like I was holding my breath for them, hoping everything would be okay. It was. Their little boy is 7 weeks old today, and so very loved by his parents!! I got to see pictures of him wearing the hat, boots and diaper cover, and he is adorable!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oh yeah, the pattern for the boots is <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/booties-baby-goshalosh-boots" target="_blank">here</a>. I own several of her patterns, and love them!! She even has videos to help you in case you get confused!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have 3 crochet projects I'm working on now that I might share, plus I have a few playroom projects I'm working on that you guys might like. I can't believe the playroom is almost finished! More than half the stuff in there I either made, refinished, built or sewed. And compared to last year (when it was pretty much an empty room) it looks amazing!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyways, it's getting late, and I didn't sleep good last night, so I'm going to bed. Good night bloggy friends. :):)</div>

I worked on Riley's rainbow nesting bowls, unfortunately I still didn't finish them, because I ran out of the blue yarn I use. I tried substituting a different brand, but it just didn't look right, it was much thinner, and it made them nest funny. And in case you haven't noticed I'm kinda a perfectionist. So I'm adding it to my shopping list!!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also crocheted a couple of pairs of cute baby button loafers. I love crocheting baby shoes!! I've made boots in the past, and they are always so tiny and cute. It's kinda funny that the loafers I made today are the same exact pattern as the ones I bought on Etsy for Riley before he was born. At the time I bought them, I thought they were the coolest things ever, and I was so amazed that someone made them. I didn't know how to crochet then, and never thought that I would be making the same booties a couple years later for other people!!! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Today, I thought I would share the pattern for the color sorting balls that go with my <a href="http://www.seriouslydaisies.com/2012/08/crochet-pattern-rainbow-nesting-bowls.html" target="_blank">rainbow nesting bowls</a>.</div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><b>NOTES</b></span></div>
<br />
<ul>
<li>For my decreases I like to use an <a href="http://www.planetjune.com/blog/amigurumi-help/invisible-decrease/" target="_blank">invisible decrease</a>, it makes everything look neater. :)</li>
<li>To close the ball, I use <a href="http://www.planetjune.com/blog/the-ultimate-finish-for-amigurumi/" target="_blank">the ultimate finish for amigurumi by Planet June</a>, I've tried other methods, and this is my favorite!</li>
</ul>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b>PATTERN</b></span><br />
<br />
Make a magic ring<br />
<b>Rnd 1:</b> 6 sc in magic ring (6)<br />
<b>Rnd 2:</b> inc around (12)<br />
<b>Rnd 3:</b> (sc 1, inc) six times (18)<br />
<b>Rnds 4-5:</b> sc around (18)<br />
<b>Rnd 6:</b> (dec, sc 1) six times (12)<br />
Stuff ball<br />
<b>Rnd 7:</b> (dec) six times (6)<br />
Add more stuffing if desired (I make them really firm)<br />
Fasten off, close up remaining hole (see notes for my favorite way)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8EWTnte2gQyYMmg6r1v7Z94oZ0xhl-vYr9hCZS_0z0YYXW0VwL6AI76o11n_jhX6fUiWyi9vcVXQQCqKlgh-b-jhPy_t1hbsygd21bFt7Wt0yEIm4llBo1baQGETJtmIIHI6fxF14Sr6h/s1600/Crochet+Rainbow+Nesting+Stacking+Bowls+and+Sorting+Balls.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8EWTnte2gQyYMmg6r1v7Z94oZ0xhl-vYr9hCZS_0z0YYXW0VwL6AI76o11n_jhX6fUiWyi9vcVXQQCqKlgh-b-jhPy_t1hbsygd21bFt7Wt0yEIm4llBo1baQGETJtmIIHI6fxF14Sr6h/s1600/Crochet+Rainbow+Nesting+Stacking+Bowls+and+Sorting+Balls.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So there you go!! Pretty simple pattern, you can also add an extra round of sc between rows 4 and 5, for a slightly bigger ball. That would change the total rounds to 8 instead of 7.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I forgot to write down the way I made the balls the first time around, and the next time I made them, I made them bigger. They looked really nice, and more rounded, but they didn't fit in the container that you see in the picture above. So I decided to write the pattern for the smaller ball, in case you want to use the same container!! It's a Nabisco Go-Packs that I recycled after me and Riley ate the cookies. I always save them now, so I can use them when I make this as a gift. It keeps the balls contained, and it nests perfectly in the purple bowl.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope your all having a great week!! Let me know if you spot any mistakes. I double checked everything, but it's the end of a long day, so I might have missed something. :):)</div>

That thing took so long to make and then forever to paint, but it was so worth it, because the kids loved it, plus it made for some really cute pictures.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbXutOex1n89IQvuEeFN4FkkqFR_xKAkQBv32rCUA_bmEox95OQW-jhnMROQChcqYrebsRDqZizMKvTKiURMWChv0jemcXYD1oF7ecJcl4RmBodcdWPMCkTgGuAo5uhK4J1v9HickgmFmD/s1600/Kids+in+Cardbard+Train.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbXutOex1n89IQvuEeFN4FkkqFR_xKAkQBv32rCUA_bmEox95OQW-jhnMROQChcqYrebsRDqZizMKvTKiURMWChv0jemcXYD1oF7ecJcl4RmBodcdWPMCkTgGuAo5uhK4J1v9HickgmFmD/s1600/Kids+in+Cardbard+Train.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
My grandma gave it to a local preschool after the party, so it didn't come back home with us.<br />
<br />
Today me and Riley were looking at pictures from his party, and when he seen this one, he got so excited, he wanted to play in the train. He asked me to "make it again mommy". Haha, umm, no.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
He was pretty persistent, so I thought I'd make a plain pretend train out of things I had around the house. Two laundry baskets, an empty box and his bilibo. I didn't know if he'd go for it, but he loved it!</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
I added some stuffed animals as friends in the other train cars. He played in it all afternoon, and he is actually relaxing, watching some cartoons in it right now. Look how happy he is. :)</div>

<b>Update 11/8/2012</b><br />
<br />
I have gotten a lot of e-mails about the way I wrote out some of my increase rounds (rounds 4, 6, 8, 10 & 12). This is the way I increase when I crochet anything round. I hate getting that hexagon shape!! And I felt very strongly about writing my pattern out this way. So, I have decided to keep the original pattern, but for those of you that are having a hard time with it, or have your own way of evenly increasing, or just prefer the pattern written out more normal (haha), I have decided to post an updated version here: <a href="http://www.seriouslydaisies.com/2012/11/crochet-pattern-rainbow-nesting-bowls.html" target="_blank">Rainbow Nesting Bowls</a>.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
********************</div>
<br />
I made these nesting bowls (along with some sorting balls) last year for my cousin Riley and my nephew Ezekiel. They were birthday presents. Both kids and my own Riley loved them. I posted them on my Ravelry projects page, and shared them on Flickr. I've had a lot of requests for the pattern. So I figured it was about time I wrote it out all nice and pretty, and shared it here!!<br />

</li>

They are awesome for nesting, stacking, sorting, counting, patterns and anything else you or your little tot can think up!! Every time Riley sees pictures of them on the computer, he tells me he wants them, so I am finally getting around to making him his own set. When I finish one bowl, he tells me which color he wants me to make next. He's kinda demanding, haha!!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hope you like making them! It's the first time I've shared one of my patterns, so I am kinda nervous. I re-wrote it several times, trying to word it just right, then I decided that I was gonna word it the way I liked, and I put it back to the way I originally had it saved on my computer (just more cleaned up with the extra notes and stuff). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I plan on writing out the pattern for the balls too. They are simple, and pretty basic. You can find several version online already if you look, but I figured I'd share it anyways, to save you the trouble! Hopefully I can get it posted this week. (Edit: You can now find the pattern for the color sorting balls <a href="http://www.seriouslydaisies.com/2012/08/crochet-pattern-color-sorting-balls.html" target="_blank">here</a>.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Let me know if you have any questions, or if you spot a mistake!!! Happy crocheting. :):):)</div>

When Riley got home Saturday morning, he ran upstairs and woke me up, giving me hugs and kisses. That is the best way ever to be woken up. He sat on top on me, and smiled at me, and then hugged me, and then smiled at me and then hugged me over and over again. And every now and then he'd throw in a kiss, and once he kissed me bunches, all over my face.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We had lotsa fun that day after Mitch went to bed. He begged me to play with dot markers. He calls them dot dots. He loves loves loves them!! So I decided to print out a bunch of shapes for him, that I found after doing a quick Pinterest search, and he got to use all 6 colors, for the 6 shapes we did.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After that he still wanted to color with them, so I gave him a coloring book, and let him dot away! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We also got our art caddy out and used crayons, colored pencils and markers to make some new art for his art wall. I have a lot of filler tot school activities up there, but we are slowly replacing it with "Riley's Art" and then we can go back to using our giant magnet board to display the tot school stuff.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here you can see his art wall in the playroom. He loves having somewhere to hang his masterpieces after he finishes them. I have a project planned to cover up the nails holding up the yarn. Give the art display more of a finished look!! I'll share it whenever I get around to doing it. :)</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To end the day, we went outside and played for a while. Trying to get Riley to hold still for pictures is nearly impossible. I did finally get him to give me his big fake cheesy smile. Cracks me up every time!! He is such a goofball.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
He has such a great imagination. He is always coming up with new games. In the picture below, he is throwing rocks up in the air, then watching them fall back down. He entertained himself for quite a while doing this. It is such a simple thing, but it is so amazing to watch him explore the world around him, all on his own. :)</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We also had some fun getting Chumba all riled up!! Riley loves his doggy bunches. Sometimes I think he misses Chumba more than he misses mommy and daddy, haha. The two of them fight like brothers, and even though Chumba is a dog, they "tell" on each other too. Cracks me up, and drives me nuts!!!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Mitch has had the last couple of days off, so we have been having fun with him. Yesterday we went to the lake, and went out on a friends boat all day. It was Riley's first time on a boat, and he was scared, I had to hold him the whole time. But we still managed to have fun, and he loosened up a bit by the end of the day.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We also played baseball in our front yard, Riley does pretty good at hitting the ball, although I felt bad for him, when I was pitching, I got him in the face a few times, ha!! Luckily they are wiffle balls, so it doesn't hurt. We ended the day with some music and frisbee golf on the PS3, where I totally beat Mitch, and Riley laughed at us while we danced around and sang along with Garth Brooks at the top of our lungs. We were pretty hilarious!!</div>

He's been in California for the past week with his grandparents (Mitch's parents). I've gotten lots done while he's been gone, computer wise anyways. I cleaned out my inbox, it was super super SUPER full. And now it's nice and empty. It's amazing how much calmer I feel now that I did that.<br />
<br />
I also gave my blog a makeover! New header, new background, new labels on my sidebar, new domain (no more blogspot.com) new favicon, and even a new about me picture!! I still want to add a menu bar up top, but that will have to wait for now.<br />
<br />
The house is picked up, and I went grocery shopping. Meals are planned for the next 2 weeks. I'm not a huge fan of cooking, so having everything bought and planned out really makes the whole dinnertime process go much more smoothly. I don't have to stress about trying to find a recipe that I have all the ingredients for everyday. So nice.<br />
<br />
Riley comes home tomorrow morning!! I can't wait to see my little guy, and give him a great big hug. Did I mention I've missed him?<br />
<br />
And since I can't post without sharing a picture, here is one of my favorites of Riley.<br />

Today I thought I would share my green polka dot chair makeover. I reupholstered this chair last year, so it's an old project, but I never shared it, so it's new to you!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was the very first time I had ever recovered anything bigger than a seat cushion, so I was a little nervous, and wasn't sure if it would turn out. But after some googling, I felt confident enough, to at least try. Plus check out this before, it's not like I had a lot to lose.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilMAtywyZhz66vxjx31gV8z1JtGYKvINV962bPmayZ8wSBHEEktNMXlONhiKn7fxOyGj13TvqrnAb-jnIZgjhroJ4mZ1nkTDm1ZyDWHoHJB5yu5O0TdPCA4wkNOHQDBDRZP_DbD8-6Fo_L/s1600/Green+Polka+Dot+Chair+Before+Reupholstering.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilMAtywyZhz66vxjx31gV8z1JtGYKvINV962bPmayZ8wSBHEEktNMXlONhiKn7fxOyGj13TvqrnAb-jnIZgjhroJ4mZ1nkTDm1ZyDWHoHJB5yu5O0TdPCA4wkNOHQDBDRZP_DbD8-6Fo_L/s1600/Green+Polka+Dot+Chair+Before+Reupholstering.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The chair had become "Chumba's chair", it was full of dog hair, and it looked like it was falling apart. My mother and father in law had given it to us years before, and when we moved to Nevada, my father in law actually asked me why I wanted them to bring the chair to us, from California. I told him my plans for the chair, but he didn't see the potential.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's super comfy, and it was my favorite place to sit during my many sleepless nights I had with Riley. I'd just throw a blanket over it, and I was good to go. The big cushy arms, and the fact that it reclines were really nice, and the wings on the sides made a perfect spot to rest my head, I would fall asleep with him in my arms, and actually be comfortable.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once I picked the fabric, it took me months to actually start recovering it, it was a huge project!! I took tons of pictures while I took it all apart, to remember how, and the order that everything went back together. Of course, once I started putting it back together, I didn't take progress pics, so I have nothing else to actually share.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After lots of sewing, and pulling and tucking and stapling and stopping to admire how far I'd gotten, I finally finished!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSY82M5-ey1RpIJqh8kM1dzkKWK6tDdJiuhHMgFU4Qkqt1iPXlCJJiKHI7LPWncwDP8fSHONvq5Utvjmx4eVVdbkUrsBJyOPCFMSOUK4Sfqmj3UAs1u3KJa9GoPlWs65lVRB8sOrgvdEoM/s1600/Green+Polka+Dot+Chair.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSY82M5-ey1RpIJqh8kM1dzkKWK6tDdJiuhHMgFU4Qkqt1iPXlCJJiKHI7LPWncwDP8fSHONvq5Utvjmx4eVVdbkUrsBJyOPCFMSOUK4Sfqmj3UAs1u3KJa9GoPlWs65lVRB8sOrgvdEoM/s1600/Green+Polka+Dot+Chair.jpg" width="550" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I planned on painting the legs, I still think about it sometimes, but I kinda like them the way they are. They look good with the other natural elements I have in the room. It's in my living room, although these pictures were taken in a then empty playroom.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a detail shot, you can see the piping real good here.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I really wish I had added new foam and stuff when I recovered it, but I didn't realize how badly it needed it until I was finished. I was saying that to Mitch the other day, and I said, "Oh well, maybe next time." He looked at me like I was nuts, but it's a solid little chair, so who knows, I just might give it another makeover in a few years!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This last shot is with Howdy Cow, he has been around since Riley's first birthday. It was Barnyard themed, so he was part of the decoration, plus a present from mommy and daddy. Riley likes to have us bounce on him, while he rides horse on a stick, and we chase each other around the house and make animal noises. It's kinda exhausting, but he loves it so much, we can resist!!</div>

This is the final printable from my Pink & Gray Baby Shower. It is the labels from my sweets table. The download is for a blank version that you can add text to yourself, in the program of your choice, (I used Photoshop Elements 8) or you can print it out and write the text in by hand.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here you can see the label, on my sweets table, after I added the text.</div>

At last, the third and final part of my little sisters baby shower!! About time huh?? I forced myself to sit down and get it done this week. So I can blog about other stuff without feeling guilty that I hadn't finished this. I am seriously laughing at myself for the 8 months it took me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So here is part 3!! Starting with the party favors that Liz made. Cookie mix in mason jars, made to look like baby bottles. So cute!!! They have the directions for how to make them, on a label on the back. She even personalized them. The recipe she used is <a href="http://www.bakerella.com/mix-things-up/" target="_blank">here</a>, if you wanna make your own. ;)</div>

Cupcake Liner Pomander. This was made from mini cupcake liners that had a pretty gray design on them. It is hanging in Mila's nursery now. I used the tutorial found <a href="http://karaspartyideas.com/2011/01/cupcake-liner-pom-poms-tutorial-vintage.html" target="_blank">here</a>, and then attached a ribbon for hanging.</div>

Wishes for baby is from <a href="http://laurenmakes.wordpress.com/2009/12/31/freebie-wish-cards/" target="_blank">here</a>, and guess baby's birthday came from <a href="http://www.babyshowergamesatoz.com/product/details/the-deluxe-baby-shower-games-collection" target="_blank">here</a>. I don't see the one she printed (on pink paper) but she bought the whole collection 3 years ago, so the options might have changed since then.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I made this banner and the gifts one below. I used my Silhouette to cut everything out, then glued it together, and strung it on some pink yarn that I chained to the length I wanted. I love making pretty things out of things I already have at home. No shopping trip (as much as I like the craft store, it's not so much fun with Riley) and instant satisfaction. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Me and Danetta hung the balloons under the baby girl banner. The balloons are each tied onto one long piece of ribbon. We took the string of balloons and the banner, lined them up, and then taped the two ends to the wall together. That way there wouldn't be 8 extra pieces of tape on the wall holding each balloon up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

So that's everything. Finally!!! It was a lot of work, but so much fun to throw Net's baby shower. I love how everything turned out. And I'm super proud of me and Liz for planning everything from two different states!!! Deciding who was gonna do what, and then <a href="http://pinterest.com/robnliz22/netta-s-baby-shower/" target="_blank">sharing our ideas on Pinterest</a> made that possible.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm off to figure out something for dinner. I really need to go grocery shopping, and I'm starving, so that may be a problem, but I'm gonna try anyways!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I suck at blogging. There is no point even denying it anymore, or pretending like I'm gonna get better. I'm always busy, I'm always working on the house, decorating, or painting or doing other fun projects. I'm learning to use my new DSLR, that Mitch got for me (he surprised me with the money one day, and told me to pick the one I wanted). I'm crocheting. I've sold a lot of things I've made to friends and family and friends of friends and family. I love to crochet, and eventually wanna open my own shop, but I gotta deal with all the legal stuff first, and then of course find the time!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then there is Riley! He is gonna be 3 in October. THREE!!! And he is a demanding little tot. I spend a lot of time on projects and tot school and fun stuff, for him and with him. That is my most important priority. I want him to have the most wonderful childhood. To know that I made time for him, and to take advantage of this time in his life when he is eager to learn so much. So any extra time I have usually goes to him, or to unwinding after a long day of fun with him, cause, even though he is in no way terrible, some days I definitely understand where the term terrible two's comes from!!! :):)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyways, that is where I have been. I still check my e-mails and get frequent requests for some of the printables I haven't yet shared. So today I thought I'd just suck it up (at 1am while everyone else is asleep) and share the table signs. You can see a few of them in action in <a href="http://seriouslydaisies.blogspot.com/2012/04/pink-gray-baby-shower-food-drinks-bar.html" target="_blank">this post</a>, and one of these days when I have time to upload a bunch of photos, you will see the welcome sign too!! I really do promise to post part 3, although I can't promise when.</div>

I am finally getting around to posting part 2 of the baby shower. The food and drinks bar!! Liz and I worked together to make it happen. She made all the food, the circles hanging from the ceiling, and the drinks. I made the pennant banner attached to the bar and the table signs, plus I made the water bottles pretty.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have a printable for this sign, plus the drinks sign and a couple others coming soon. To make the frame, I bought a few of those unfinished wood signs at Michael's (they are a dollar or two each) I spray painted them pink (<a href="http://www.krylon.com/products/indooroutdoor_paint/" target="_blank">Krylon Ballet Slipper in Satin</a>) then wrapped them in pink yarn (<a href="http://www.shopredheart.com/default.aspx?PageID=62&CategoryID=4&ProductID=1969&RootCatCode=01000" target="_blank">Red Heart Super Saver in Baby Pink</a>). I attached the yarn on the back with hot glue, I added glue at the beginning and the end, plus every so often while wrapping to make sure that the yarn wouldn't slide around.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love the subtle texture made by wrapping the pink yarn around the pink frame. It was simple, but made the frames look so pretty. Plus now, like a few other decorations, Netta is using them in Mila's room.</div>

Some of the food Liz made! Caprese toothpicks, bruschetta, cucumber tea sandwiches, strawberry jam and cream cheese sandwiches, deli wraps, an edible arrangement, baby quiche, crescent roll cocktail sausages, spinach dip and that empty platter there was for some bacon wrapped cocktail sausages that were still in the oven. I just had to take the picture, cause the guests were about to start eating!! :)</div>

Liz made these circles hanging from the ceiling. I was only half paying attention when she did them. But I believe she cut the circles with her Cricut. The ran them through her Xyron machine to make the backs sticky (you could also just apply adhesive to the back of the circles). After that she just sandwiched some yarn between two circles, until they were the length she wanted. Pretty easy, and a fun way to add some color!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Liz got the idea from Pinterest of course!! You can check out all our party inspiration <a href="http://pinterest.com/robnliz22/netta-s-baby-shower/" target="_blank">here</a> if you like! I think the hanging circles are toward the bottom. There are several ideas that we didn't end up using, that might inspire someone else. :)</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Removing the old labels and covering water bottles with pretty paper makes a huge difference, plus, it makes the drinks, part of the decorations! I wanted mine waterproof, so I laminated both sides with clear packing tape, leaving the top piece slightly longer so I could attach it to the bottle. Hope that makes sense. There are lots of tutorials online for doing this, maybe if I do it again at another party, I will take pictures of my way, and write up a tutorial, but not today.</div>

The moisture from the banana made the top and bottom slide around a bit, so after the first few I decided to absorb some of the moisture on the top and bottom of the banana slices with a paper towel. Before I go, I just wanted to say, I know I haven't finished the baby shower pictures. My laptop died on me. We bought a new 27" IMac, and I am in love with it. I am working on getting my pictures and music and files and stuff transferred over. But I haven't forgotten. Life has just decided to make things more complicated. Hope everyone has a happy Easter tomorrow. :)</div>

What are little girls made of?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Sugar and spice, and everything nice, that's what little girls are made of.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I used to recite this poem all the time when I was a little girl. And I thought it was perfect for the baby shower. Specifically the dessert table. I tried to be lazy, and look for a cute printable online, that would match the shower. But nope, I didn't find one. So off to Photoshop Elements I went to design my own.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
I think it turned out really cute! And now I am going to share it with you. And maybe, just maybe it will match your party, and you wont have to design your own. You can just print out this one. :)<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: justify;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: justify;">This is what the printable looks like. It'll probably fit in any 4x6 frame, but I haven't tried it, so I'm not positive. Now go, download, print, and enjoy!</div>
