What in the world will we do without the Oprah Winfrey Show?

As with any long-term relationship, the notion that the “party is over” can bring a pain that is not easily accepted.

I spent all of my teens with Oprah.  Watching every show and trying to tape the ones I knew I was going to miss.  I do believe her show topics and the people she had on her show led me to make the decision to live a better life.

There was Donohue that I watched, too and Gerardo and Jerry Springer (when he was legit)…I watched Dinah Shore, too, when I was a wee bitty…

But, no other woman on TV has had an impact on my life as Oprah has.

From “The Color Purple” with Madame Whoopi to “The Women Of Brewster Place” to everything that Oprah touched.

She had folks like Dr. Phil, Dr. Iyanla Van Zant, Gary Zukav, John Gray and the “He Just Not That Into You” guy, Greg Behrendt…and host of others.

Oprah made or broke a career…yes, she did…Yes, she can. (Wink, wink!)

Is she really leaving her infamous Oprah Winfrey Show?

Is the party really over?

Well, time will honestly tell if she may add just one more year…

But if she doesn’t, she will be sorely missed and never forgotten.  The legacy that a poor, obese, abused black woman left on the world is so profound that I don’t understand how anyone can ever doubt themselves and what they can accomplish in their lives.

Oprah was desinted to be nothing…a nobody, but her drive and determination led her above and beyond ever her own expectations, I suspect.

Bravo, Oprah, bravo!

Part two of two:

Seriously dishes out more tips on traveling with children this Thanksgiving and Holiday season. Kids are kids, not little adults, so how can we get kids to be on their best behavior, yet still act their age? Seriously tells how.

How do kids learn best?

It’s not by sitting down and watching a teacher.  Most of the time…NO!

Kids learn by jumping in feet first, literaly at times.

Kids learn that puddles are wet by jumping in, not by looking at pictures.

Kids learn that the sun is warm, not from watching the weather.

Kids learn about how to use manners and etiquette from watching others use them…Ahhh!

Yes, moms and dads…

Examples are other ways kids learn, positively or negatively.

So, take a listen to the show and you’ll be surprised about what you may or may not know.

Ever see a movie that so many people HATED, then when you saw it, you thought it really wasn’t that bad?

Alright, that’s what I felt when I saw the movie, Twilight.

The moody Edward Cullen and the “Feel my angst”, Bella Swan are back on the big screen and this time they are tossing in a werewolf for fun.

Why not… Two odd male teens with killer instincts in one movie are better than one, right?

This time, the there’s a werewolf in the mix.  The handsome and earthy, Jacob Black and he is there to iron out Bella’s life wrinkles about Edward.

I didn’t think Twilight was that bad…more like a John Hughes rip-off with some vampires and now, werewolves for added flavor.

My close freind and I don’t talk about Twilight to one another because it’s a heated topic.  She is convinced that she wasted 90 minutes of her life watching Twilight and I feel like popping it in ever so often to enjoy.  We are obviously polar opposites on the issue.

How ever, I think I will brave the morning mob and catch the flick when the theatre opens and before the millions of tweeting teens shut Twitter down with their OMG review.  They’re either say, “OMG, I hated it” or “OMG, I love it.”

No matter what, OMG, I’m going to see it for myself.

Yes, Seriously McMillan has written the books and those mannerly looks, but what the heck is she saying in the new Seriously McMillan Show?

I just love doing radio and podcasts, goodness forbid that I have to do a video and I am not wearing the right makeup…Oh no!

It’s not vanity for Author Seriously McMillan, it’s about practicing what she preaches about using good taste in all aspect of your life, including public appearance.

I am aware of my image and sometimes I just can’t get all the bells and whistles in the right places, but, I will not let that take away from the message.  You don’t need to see my face to hear what I am saying.

BFF Etiquette: Tact Tips On Being A Best Friend With Courtesy & Class

Who’s your best friend? What kind of best friend are they? Are you tacky or timely? What kind of best friend are you? Here is a show to treat your best friend with tact.

Does Carrie Prejean really understand the words that are coming out of her mouth?

Part of me just wants to believe that she is just young and doesn’t get things. Another part of me believes that Carrie doesn’t know what she stands for because she seems so wishy-washy with her stance on important issues.

Yet, another part of me just says forget it all, but as people describe, it’s difficult not to view wreckage from wrecks.  Even human wrecks.

Dirty pic and sex tapes:

There is something about standing up for what you believe in that resonates with passion.  I believed Carrie Prejean was against same-sex marriage.  I believe in her right to say that without being penalized in any way.  What I don’t appreciate is having my chain yanked by someone who goes “moral” then has sex tapes and topless pics find their way out of the wood work.  Talk about hip-po-crite.  Sin is sin, most Christians would surmise.

At least have the decency to explain away the blemish of these “items” in your closet.  “Ooops, I forgot to tell you I made a sex tape and had some topless pics done and these items rest in the hands of people who are able to defame me, tarnish my “newly acquired” reputation and embarrass me in pubic, forever.  Amen.”

Christians with boob jobs:

Is this morally legal?  Can you be a practicing Christian and still find a way to rationalize having a boobjob to win a secular, vanity-driven pageant?

No matter what, boob jobs are not everyone’s business, unless you want  it to announce to  the world you’ve had  one or you happen to be Carrie Prejean and under the illusion of entitlement to the crown of Miss USA, dethronement of being Miss USA and finding a way to make good on hurling the molotov cocktail  grudge…

Ooops, did you forget that the money for the boob job came out of the funds from the Pageant officials?  If you are going to throw rocks at glass houses, expect them to ricochet at times.  Make sure you have no glass in your house.  Use plexiglass.  It wouldn’t break…you.

Carrie, I understand the need to say that your boob job is within the framework of Christianity.  Try saying that the next time you wear anything to church because, even by accident, the congregation is watching you and your holy chest.

Gay hairdressers:

Even though you may put a few gay hairdressers to work, you must understand the need for completion in ones life.  What if your gay hairdresser was so distraught from the inability to marry their loved one that they ran out and took their own life?

Enough said, right?

I am very neutral on the gay marriage issue because I have so many other issues of my own to focus on.  I don’t focus much on the abortion issue or many other controversial issues, either.  My personal opinions on these issues remain my personal opinions.  I share them with one other mammal, my cat.  My cat knows where I stand and that’s good enough for me.

I do consider myself a spiritual person, with a Christian moral base…

Love the person, not what is considered the “sin”?

So, what ticks me off about Carrie is that she stands tall on her soapbox, yet employs the very “gay” people who she believes should not have rights as she does to marry.  Blacks were “employed” slaves once, too, but had no right to marry one another.  Remember?

Just get a straight hairdresser and call it a day.

I’m just saying…

Inappropriate Larry King:

I get it.  Larry King got her into a shadowy corner with his question in the video below.  He was trying to get her to explain why she chose to settle out of court.

What a gotcha moment.  It was inappropriate, too, at least on Carrie’s end of conversation.

Carrie could have handled this situation better than she did, spinning into full smile ‘Stepford’ mode, repeating the words, “That’s inappropriate!”

I guess I will never know the luxuries of being blonde with fake boobs and having my “yes” men (and women) camped about me approving of every move I make whether it’s right or wrong.  That’s a luxury I can forgo.
