Welcome to Colossae, USA

Pastor Mark continued asking us to keep Jesus at the center of our lives by having us evaluate where we are using other ?spiritual things? in place of Jesus Christ. The problem in the Colossian church was heresy in the form of adding spiritual things to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have a similar environment today with ?spirituality? being in, but Jesus as the only way to God unacceptable. Learn how to evaluate your life for signs of being spiritual without Christ as you listen to his message introducing the book of Colossians.

First Fruits of Grace

Easter Sunday - This morning we celebrate Easter - the resurrection of Jesus Christ. But it is more than just an anniversary or date on a calendar. It is a harbinger of things to come, a lens through which you see Gods plan for the future. So Easter is just a taste, a savoring, an appetizer of the main meal of Gods redemptive plan. Easter was not the finale. It was only the beginning of all that God is going to do.

How to be a Matchmaker for Jesus

Pastor Doug Pabody continued our series on the Gospel of Mark, reviewing the account of a miracle Jesus performed, after forgiving a man's sins. Jesus directly confronts the beliefs of the scribes and gives them proof He is the Messiah and alone can forgive sin. The beauty of this account is the faithfulness of the friends that introduced this man to Jesus. Nothing can make you feel more alive than being the person God uses to introduce a friend or relative to Jesus.

Jesus is Willing to Make You Clean!

Pastor Doug Pabody preached about Jesus? willingness to make us clean from the Mark 1:40-45 text. Jesus takes the hideousness of leprosy and turns it into the makings of a disciple within moments. There are steps, however, to bringing such a dramatic result. The sick must call themselves sick. The sick must realize who their true help is. The sick must call out for that help. And the Helper must respond. He is willing, if we are willing to ?implore him and kneel.?

A Spiritual Anatomy Exam

How does a warrior like Jesus sustain himself in battle? Pastor Joe Bartemus introduces the sermon yesterday using that phrase. Preaching on Mark 1:35-39, Joe displays for us Jesus? battle plan for keeping his heart in the battle, his eyes fixed rightly and his ears hearing only from His Father. It is a lesson for us in how we do the battle and how we do life. This is ?readiness for kingdom service as we look at Jesus? spiritual physique; here we get a glimpse into his spiritual anatomy exam.

Demons, Disease and The Day

Pastor Joe Bartemus continued our series on the Gospel of Mark. Pastor Joe?s message was a review of the power of the God incarnate, Jesus Christ. While Jesus was sweet and kind, this account describes and displays His power and authority over demons and disease. This power is a clear sign of His complete authority over all spiritual and physical things. These miracles point to one thing, Jesus? is returning with His complete victory over all evil and will establish a new heaven and new earth for all those who are His children through faith in Him.

God's Ways Work

Pastor Mark Vroegop was welcomed today to College Park Church. Mark is our candidate to become College Parks new Lead Pastor. Mark's message from 1 John was a proclamation that Gods Ways Work. There were some problems in areas of the first home churches. The Apostle John knew how to solve these problems and wrote the letter of 1 John as a permanent reminder for us of what is important as we live in this world as witnesses of Jesus Christ. The church should be a place of real life change, a place where God?s ways work. And, others should be able to see these life changes as we share what God has done in our own lives. Through our testimonies we Glorify God in magnificent ways. Pastor Mark enthusiastically brought us three things that are critical to bringing Glory to the Lord Jesus; understanding the REAL JESUS, understanding REAL FELLOWSHIP and understanding REAL JOY.

Mark cannot wait any longer to introduce Jesus and he does so in verse nine. In his matter of fact style, Mark describes the unconditional obedience of Jesus in baptism, and the incredible response God the Father had to this action. God called Jesus, His beloved Son and let all know He was very pleased with Him. We are also introduced to the Triune God at work, in Jesus, the Holy Spirit and God the Father. Nate?s sermn covers the hope and help we can find in this life experience of the God-Man Jesus.

Randy Patten, executive Director of NANC brought us our message today. Are you weary? Are there things in your life that have made you weary, perhaps circumstances, responses of people, family situations, or maybe guilt over your own sinful decisions? Jesus Christ made an appeal to those who are weary and offers them rest for their souls. Randy?s message defined practical ways to find this peace Jesus offers, though faith in Jesus Christ.

Slip Sliding Away - Nehemiah Pt 14

Pastor Nate Irwin brought a message on Nehemiah 13:114, outlining three pegs that we are to hold onto in our faith. In Nehemiahs absence from Jerusalem, Eliashib the priest had allowed sin in the camp and specifically, had allowed Tobiah a chamber in the house of God. Nehemiah, after hearing of this, returns to Jerusalem and begins to set things right. His responses are to be how we live out our lives before God.

The Worth of Worship - Nehemiah Pt 13

This chapter is about the worship of our Mighty God. Everyone was involved in preparing to worship and in the participation of worship. The hearts of the people were filled with joy as the destination of worship and the center of their worship was one in the same - God Himself. This would have the Jews end up in the Temple and it will have us end up at the feet of Jesus Christ. As we worship the Lord with pure hearts, the Glory of the Lord will have a life changing impact on everything we do.

Renewing Our Vows - Nehemiah Pt 11

We are in the middle of the book of Nehemiah. The construction project of the wall is complete and now the consecration of the people continues. After the Word of God was read, God?s people began to be convicted of sin and repent. Now the people want to make commitments to change. They are at a point where they want to write out specific things that they know God wants them to change in their lives by renewing their vows to God. Chapter 10 is a record of the people who renewed specific vows to obey God and His Word.

Great Expectations: The Land, the Law, and the Lord - Nehemiah Pt 10

We are in the middle of Nehemiah 9. The wall is up and ready for protection, but now the God of the wall must work on the hearts of the people inside the wall. Walls without good people do not serve any function at all. The beginning is faith; faith requires a good memory and the prayer beginning in verse 6 is exactly that. The Goodness of God is being remembered by the great works He has done from creation through the Exodus; verse 22 picks up with our sermon title: Great Expectations: The Land, the Law and the Lord.

Pastor Doug Pabody preached Sunday on Nehemiah 9:1-21. The Jews, after celebrating the Feast of Booths, responded in personal confession and repentance, fasting, worship and reading of the Law. They recounted the deeds of their God and also recounted their own deeds and the deeds of their forefathers. Pastor Pabody brought out the significance of this and how we should be living this out today, in our very lives, recounting our own deeds and recounting what God has done for us in light of what we have done against Him.

When the seventh month had come, the people gathered for the Word of God to be read to the people. There was great awe and reverence for the Word as the people stood and listened carefully to the reading of this Word from God. After the reading of the Word, the people were filled with a joy of divine origin, for the Lord was their strength. After hearing the Word of God, and when they understood it, the people eagerly obeyed the Word, in detail, and there was very great rejoicing in their community.

Enemy Central: How to Derail Gods Kingdom Work - Nehemiah Pt 6

The wall was about to be finished, but the opposition was continuing. Nehemiahs enemies began using the subtle tactics of distraction and discouragement to get him to stop work on the wall. When this did not affect Nehemiah, or the work of God, the enemy resorted to the crafty deception of inviting Nehemiah to sin and be disqualified for the work of God. Through prayer and a God developed strong character, Nehemiah prevails through this opposition and finishes the wall in a staggering 52 days. When the enemies realized this work could have only been accomplished by the hand of God they were afraid and were humbled (as God was exalted). The enemies realized there was a power at work greater than they had seen in their lives.

Building the Church for the Masses - Nehemiah Pt 5

Nehemiah not only successfully fought battles with his enemies outside his city; he addressed and persevered through injustice inside his city. Today?s lesson shows us how Nehemiah stood up for the poor and provided them tangible relief from their situation. Nehemiah motivated the wealthy to repent from their self centered life style, showing how this defamed the reputation of God and had them turn to and fear God, by making sacrifices for their fellow brothers who were in desperate need.

Kingdom Work Meets Resistance - Nehemiah Pt 4

There is resistance when you are doing work for the Kingdom of God. We need to expect resistance and pray, prepare and proceed with our work when it comes. This resistance is from evil which attacks the Truth, our physical safety and our hearts. As we pick up our swords (the Bible) we can fight against all of it and succeed, as we continue to work for God. Therefore, keep your sword in one hand and your trowel in the other - fight and work for the Kingdom of God!

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, Its Off to Work We Go - Nehemiah Pt 3

Work in the Kingdom of God centers on God. Nehemiah 3 may appear laborious in the volume of names; however, it shows how important each name was to God and how each person fit together, working together, in their neighborhood to repair the broken walls of Jerusalem. In working for God, He gives us the power to give Him Glory.
