Chevy Truck 1996-98 4.3L, 5.0L and 5.7L

Here is the serpentine belt diagram for a 1996-1998 Chevy truck with the 4.3, 5.0 and 5.7 liter engine. Removing the belt is very simple. Using breaker bar and a socket that fits the center bolt of the tensioner pulley, rotate the tensioner to create slack on the belt and slip it off the tensioner pulley. Inspect all of the pulleys and make sure they are free of any dirt, debris or fluids.

To replace the belt, route the belt according to the diagram posted above leaving the tensioner pulley for last. Rotate the tensioner pulley again with your breaker bar and socket and slip the belt of the tensioner. Inspect all pulleys and make sure the belt is aligned correctly on each.

2002 Pontiac Firebird V6

Here is the diagram for the 2002 Pontiac Firebird with the 6 cylinder engine as requested in the forum.

To remove the belt, rotate the tensioner pulley creating slack in the belt and slip it off the pulleys.
Check all the pulleys and make sure they are free of any debris, fluids and make sure they are not damaged in any way.

To install the belt, select the correct diagram for your vehicle (with or without AC). Route the belt around all of the pulleys leaving the tensioner pulley for last. After you have routed the belt according to the diagram, rotate the tensioner pulley just enough to slip the belt over it.
Double check the routing and make the belt is on every pulley correctly before starting your vehicle.

If you are not using the AC the belt will be shorter. It would be a good idea to take your old belt with you to the auto parts store tomake sure getting the correct one. This diagram was requested in the discussion forums and some info was requested about removing the AC. If your vehicle is already with the AC compressor you can just buy the proper belt. If you need to remove the AC you can use the smaller belt or you can find a bypass pulley that goes where your AC at your local auto parts store.

Here is the diagram for the 2002 Saturn that was requested in the forum. I will add more detailed instructions later this evening. Rotate the tensioner clockwise to relieve the tension and remove the belt.

1999 Saturn SL1

To remove your belt use a 14mm or 9/16′s wrench to rotate the tensioner pulley and create slack in the belt and remove it from the tensioner pulley.
Check your all of your pulleys and make sure there free and clear of any debris or fluids.

To install the belt, route the belt according to the diagram posted above leaving the tensioner pulley for last. Make sure the belt is around all the pulleys correctly and rotate the tensioner one more time and slip the belt over it.

Inspect your pulleys again before starting your vehicle.

2002 Chevrolet Camaro 5.7L

Using a socket and ratchet or tensioner pulley tool, rotate the the tensioner pulley and slip off the belt. Inspect all the pulleys and make sure they are clean and not damaged.

To install a new belt simply route the belt around all the pulleys according to the diagram above leaving the tensioner pulley for last. Check all the pulleys again to make sure the belt is on all of them correctly and rotate the tensioner pulley and slide on the belt.

Inspect the belt and make sure it is on every pulley correctly before starting your vehicle. Adjustments are made by simply rotating the tensioner pulley just enough to give the belt some slack and slide into position.

There are 4 different diagrams for the Mustang 4.6L in the years 1999-2005. All four are posted here according to there VIN number. Check your VIN number for the correct VIN code and diagram to use.

To remove your old belt simply rotate the tensioner pulley enough to slip the belt off of it. Slowly release the tensioner pulley and remove the belt from all the other pulleys. Check all of your pulleys and make sure they are not damaged in any way and are free of any debris or fluids.

To install your new belt locate the correct diagram for your vehicle. Route the new belt according to the diagram provided leaving the tensioner for last. Keep tension on the belt with your hand and rotate the tensioner pulley and slip the belt on. 2003 Ford Ranger 3.0L

To install the serpentine belt for the 2003 Ford Ranger simply rotate the tensioner pulley with a tensioner pulley removal tool or a large ratchet with the correct size socket to fit the center bolt on the pulley itself. Remove the belt from the tensioner pulley and slowly release the tensioner. Remove the belt from the rest of the pulley’s.

Inspect all of the pulley’s and make sure there are not damaged in any way and are free from debris and fluids.

To install the serpentine belt, route the belt around all the pulleys leaving the tensioner pulley for last. Keep tension on the belt with your hand and rotate the tensioner pulley enough to slide the belt over it.

Inspect all the pulleys again and make sure the belt is lined up correctly on all of the pulley’s. Adjustments can be made by rotating the tensioner pulley just enough to create some slack with out removing the entire belt again.

2005 Dodge 3.4 and 3.7L

To remove the belt rotate the tensioner pulley creating slack on the belt. Slip the belt off and slowly release the tensioner. Inspect all pulleys and make sure the clean and not damaged.

To install the belt, route the belt using the diagram above. Leave the tensioner pulley for last. Keep tension on the belt and rotate the tensioner pulley again enough to slide the belt over the pulley.

Inspect all pulleys again make sure they are lined up correctly before starting your vehicle. Adjustments can be made by simply rotating the tensioner pulley a little bit creating slack on the belt with out removing the whole belt again.

2005 Dodge Truck 3.9L, 5.2L and 5.9L

To remove your old belt simply rotate the tensioner pulley (idler pulley) clockwise enough to slip the belt of the tensioner. Inspect all pulleys to make sure there free of any debris or fluids.

To install the belt, reroute the belt around all the pulleys according to the diagram above, leaving the tensioner pulley for last. While keeping tension on the belt, rotate the tensioner pulley again clockwise enough to slip on the belt. Inspect your new belt and make sure it aligned correctly on every pulley.

2000 Chrysler 300M 2.7L, 3.2L and 3.5L

To remove your old belt rotate the tensioner pulley counter clockwise until you have enough slack to slide the belt off. Slowly lower the tensioner pulley back into it’s reliefed position. Be careful not to let the tensioner snap back when releasing. Inspect all the pulleys and make sure they free from any debris or fluids.

Installing the belt is just the reverse. Route the belt according to the diagram and leave the tensioner for last. While keeping tension on the belt, rotate the tensioner counterclockwise enough to slip the belt over the tensioner pulley. Reinspect all pulleys and make sure the belt is on all the pulleys correctly and align right.
