Advantages

• Allows you to always have a internet connection on you pc as long as you cell phone can receiver internet

Disadvantages

• Limited Coverage Area  (How often do you leave your coverage area?)
• Lack the latest and greatest cell phones like the Android and Iphone  (I don’t need my cell phone to light my cigarettes, that is what a lighter is for!)

The main scenario that most would want to be able to tether there cell phone to there pc or laptop is when you are on a business trip or vacation and are unable to access a wifi connection or a lan internet connection.  To start this tutorial off, the only equipment you will need is your Samsung Code cell phone, the usb adapter that came with the phone, a pc and maybe a blue tooth adapter if you don’t have the usb adapter.

So the first thing that you will need to do is power on your Samsung Code phone and then plug the usb adapter into your phone and computer.  After Windows Mobile Device Center has connected you cell phone to your pc, you need to download a few free programs.

The first program that you will need to download is the secpolicies.cab and place this in you \MyDocuments folder on your Samsung Code.  Once the secpolicies.cab program has been placed on you cell phone, simply install the program and power down your phone by holding down end call button for a few seconds.  After your Samsung Code powers down, you will then need to power up the phone by holding down the end call button for a few seconds.

The next program that you will need to download and install is the BJ.WM6.ICS.Enable.cab file.  Again just like before place the BJ.WM6.ICS.Enable.cab file within the \MyDocuments folder on your Samsung Code.  After you have installed this program, you will again need to reboot the phone by holding the end call button.

Once you have installed the secpolicies.cab and BJ.WM6.ICS.Enable.cab on your Samsung Code, navigate to the \MyDocuments folder on your phone.  You will now find a program called Cert.cab located within the \MyDocuments folder.  Simply run and install the Certs.cab program, then reboot you cell phone one more time.

After you cell phone powers back on, you will now find a application on your cell phone called Internet Sharing.  All you have to do now when you want to use the internet connection from you Samsung Code to your pc is plug in the usb cable from your phone to the pc.  Then click on the Internet Sharing application and click on the the connect button.  If you happen to have a bluetooth device on your laptop or netbook, open up the Internet Sharing application and change the PC Connection from USB to Bluetooth PAN.

In this tutorial I will be using Windows 7 operating system, but you should be able to following these same directions if you happen to be using Windows Xp or Vista.  If you have any problem locating the ip address of you Western Digital My Book, install the WD Discovery program.  So to begin this tutorial on setting up your Western Digital My Book World Edition, you will of course need to connect the hard drive with a ethernet cable to either a router, switch or hub; then plug the power cable in.  Once the hard drive boots up, go to:

• Start
• Network
• Locate MyWorldBook under the Storage Tab
• Right Click MyWorldBook and click install

After you have installed the software for your Western Digital hard drive, you will then need to right click on the MyWorldBook icon, but this time select View Device Webpage.  Once you have selected View Device Webpage you will be greeted with the Western Digital setup wizard screen.

Once the Western Digital Setup Wizard screen loads up, simply accept the agreement.  After you have accepted the terms for your hard drive, you will then be able to name your device if you feel that you need to.  Also make sure that you set the correct time zone for your hard drive, since computers rely heavily on clocking.

After you have set the time zone for your Western Digital My Book, you will then be asked to change the admin password for you device.  For security purposes, you will definitely will want to change this password.  The default login for you Western Digital My World book is “admin” for the user name and and “admin” for the password.  Just think about it, if you had some nudity pictures of yourself or financial documents stored on the hard drive and someone hacked your wireless router.  You would be in some serious trouble, so please always change the default password.

Once you have changed the default password for your the hard drive, you will then be asked if you want to use dhcp for your ip address or if you want to set a static ip address.  For novice users I recommend using dhcp, but I use a static ip address since I am constantly using ftp to upload and download files to my hard drive.  I really don’t like trying to find out what my ip address is for my hard drive every time I use it, that is why I set a static ip address.

After you have made you selection on what type of ip address to use, the device will be all setup to use.  The Western Digital hard drive may reboot to finish up the configuration, but other then that you are all set.

To find out what your current default Linksys router address is simply open up the Command Prompt program by clicking on:

1. Start
2. All Programs
3. Accessories
4. Command Prompt

Now that you have the Command Prompt open, type in ipconfig.

As you can see my default gateway is 192.168.1.1 for my Linksys router.  Once you have found your default ip address for your router, which in our case is 192.168.1.1.  Simply open a web browser and type this ip address in URL bar.  Once the default gateway screen open for your Linksys router, you will be able to make changes to allow the router to work with your previous network equipment.

1. Connect PC directly to broadband modem/router provided by isp
2. Open Command Prompt and type ipconfig
3. Write down current Default gateway and Subnet Mask
4. Disconnect Pc from the modem / router
5. Connect Pc to your Linksys router
6. Open Command Prompt and type ipconfig
7. Open web browser and type in default gateway from the command prompt program
8. Configure Linksys Router (See Ip Address Schemes below)
9. Connect the Modem / Router from Isp into the internet port on your Linksys router
10. You may have to unplug the Linksys router from the electrical to reset the router to acquire the correct ip addresses

More often then not, you should  be able to plug your Linksys router into your Isp mode / router and your Internet and Lan will automatically work.  But somethings your Isp will be using the same network scheme that the Linksys router is using.  So the easiest thing that you can do to make the network work, is to change the default Linksys router address.

Once the Linksys Basic setup page open change the Ip address to something other then 192.168.1.1.  Usually you can the ip address on the Linksys router to 192.168.2.1 and your network will start working.  After you have change the ip address on the linksys router, click the save button.  Most 3rd party routers such as Belkin, 2wire and Netgear tend to use either 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254 as the default gateway and 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask.

Think about it, what if there was a problem with your network and you had to repair the problem?  With subnetting in already in place, you will be able to section off what part of the network is having the problem and repair the network quicker.  In this article I will be showing you just the basics of subnetting a network, but I will be writing more advanced subnetting articles in the future.

Before you begin subnetting a network you will need to ask yourself a few questions.  First of all you need to ask yourself; how many networks do I need?  Also you need to ask yourself how many hosts I need to be able to accommodate.  If you want to find out what your current subnet mask is, open up command prompt on a Windows based pc and type in ipconfig.

In order for you understand on how subnet a network, you first need to know how to convert decimal into binary. As you can see from the chart below that there are three different classes that you can use to subnet your network.  There are actually a few more subnet classes out there, but they are being used for research.

Subnet Classes

In a class c subnet all you need to worry about is the last octet, which is the zeros.  So in a class C scheme the subnet decimal form of 255.255.255.0 is equal to 11111111.11111111.11111111.00000000 in binary form.  When you look at the chart below, look at the binary column.  In the binary column the 1′s represent networks, while the 0′s represent hosts.

So if you were given the ip address of 192.168.1.0 with the subnet mask of 255.255.255.192. How many subnets do you have and how many hosts in each subnet?  Well if you look at the chart above you see the subnet mask for 255.255.255.192 and there are two binary 1′s and six binary 0′s.  To figure out the amount of  subnets you have you can use this easy forumula.

Subnets = 2^{Network Bits}

So if you take the above example, since you have 2 bits for the network. All you have to do is use the equation Subnets = 2² which is 4 subnets. Now if you wanted to figure out home many hosts you can have on each of the four subnets you would use the equation below.

Host = 2^{Hosts Bits} - 2

So since you have 6 bits located in the subnet mask dedicated for hosts, once again just use the equation above. Hosts = 2⁶ – 2 which is 62 available host ip addresses.  The reason that you have to minus two is because one ip is reserved for the network address and the other is reserved for broadcast addresses. So in all reality there really are 64 host ip addresses, but there are only 62 available ip addresses that you can use in each subnet to assign to your different network devices.

So now lets figure out valid ip ranges for each subnet, also the network and broadcast addresses for each subnet.  So all you have to do to figure out the ip range for each subnet is to first figure out what the subnets are the first place.  Well since our ip address is 192.168.1.0, that will be our first subnet.  The next subnet can be found by adding 64 to the end of 192.168.1.0 which is 192.168.1.64.  You can then find the third subnet by again adding 64, but this time add it to 192.168.1.64 which is 192.168.1.128.  And finally again repeat the process 192.168.1.128 + 64 = 192.168.1.192.  You would stop here because if you  added another 64 to 192.168.1.192 you would get 192.168.1.256, which is not valid and would be located in a totally different network.

So now you need to figure out the valid ip ranges for each subnet.  We will again start back at with the ip address 192.168.1.0.  Since we know that the network address 192.168.1.0 is currently in use and cannot be assigned, the next available address is 192.168.1.1.  So 192.168.1.1 will be our first assignable ip address.  To figure out the broadcast address, simply go to the second network address and minus 1.  So if you took 1 away from 192.168.1.64 you would get 192.168.1.63 for a broadcast address.  So you now know that the ip address 192.168.1.0 is the network address and the broadcast address is 192.168.1.63, you network range would be 192.168.1.1. to 192.168.1.62.

The WordPress ProSense theme also comes in three different colors, but it can be easily adjusted as long as you know some basic css and html coding. Out of the box the ProSense theme is pretty decent, but could use a few tweaks to optimize earnings with Google adsense and boost your over all search engine rank.

The first thing that I recommend to do is edit the sidebar.php so that the pages, post, category, meta, etc… don’t use the <h2> tag. Change the follow html to code from this:

What you will see, is that I removed the <h2> tag and replaced it with a <div> tag. Inside the div tag you will also notice that I used the attribute “class=sidebartitles1”, what this will allow you to do call that specific navigation unit inside the style.css file. Also as a special note, you must name each div tag a different name for each navigation tab, for instance the categories tab = sidebartitles1, pages tab = sidebartitles2.

Another way to optimize your ProSense wordpress theme, to copy the code from your title tag which is located inside the header.php and pasting it inside the h1 tag located further down the header.php file.

After you save your header.php file, go to the single.php file and delete this line:

What this will do is change all your post titles from the h2 tag to the h1 tag creating more importance with the search engines. This seo tweak will also remove the duplicate tag h2 tag on your single post pages. Knowing this trick will certainly boost your wordpress blog up the search engine charts. Just keep in mind the search engine optimization takes time.The final optimization tweak that I will recommend is to change the links to a true blue color. To change the color of your links, open up the style.css file. Once the stylesheet is opened up, scroll down to this line.

Then change it to look like this.

The three ways that forums can be used to boost your web traffic is by asking a question on a forum, answering questions on a forum and finally your profile that you setup on the forum web site. To begin receiving targeted web traffic for you wordpress blog or any other web site using forums, you must first do some research. The reasons you want to do some research before you start signing up to different forums.

• Not all forums will be targeted to your keyword or key phrase.
• Some forums don’t allow signatures
• Also some forums don’t submit commits to the search engines.

A way to solve two out of three of these problems is by doing a simple search on Google and Yahoo. What you will need to do is go to Google or Yahoo and type in your keyword or keyword phrase plus the keyword forum. For example if I was targeting the keyword “wordpress adsense theme” I would go to Google and search “wordpress adsense theme forum”.

As you can see from this search that there are 1,390,000 different results from this search term. All you need to do now is explore a few of these forums and see if they allow signatures. Just browse through some of the categories within the forum and see if other members have signatures in their messages. Also pay attention to see if the forums will allow you to submit links within the text of your messages. If you find a forum that allows you to submit links within the text of your message, then you found a gold mine.

Once you have targeted what forums that you may want to use to promote your wordpress blog or web site, all you have to do now is join those targeted forums. Once you have joined a forum and log in, you will normally see a link within the members center that says “Profile”. All you have to do is click on the Profile button and set up your signature. You signature should consist of a targeted keyword phrase that has a link that points back to your web blog. I usually have the signature point back to my home page of my wordpress blog.

Now that you have your signature setup, you will then have to post a few messages on the forum in order for your signature to show up. I recommend that you use the forums search box to find targeted messages that are already on the forum. For instance “WordPress adsense theme colors” or “wordpress adsense theme seo”. Once you have found a few messages that are keyword targeted, go through and post your own message that answers the questions of the preexisting members.

If you already have a web page on your web site that will answer someones question, post a link in your message that will point back to that specific web page. For example if your searched the forum and someone was looking on how to optimize your WordPress blog for Google Adsense. And you happen to have a web page on your wordpress blog or web site that showed how to optimize your WordPress blog for Google Adsense ads. All you need to do is write a message that said “the best way to optimize your wordpress blog for Google Adsense is by testing different ad formats and types in different locations on your web blog”. You would then put a link around the keyword phrase “how to optimize WordPress for Google Adsense.”

What happens when a search engine spider comes to your web site to index the content, it will copy all the text on the page. After the web robot copies the text on your wordpress blog, it will then follow all the links on that page. Once the web crawler follows a link it will continue the process, whether it is on your other web pages or another persons web site.

In order to boost your wordpress blog page rank, you will need to add the nofollow attribute value to your outbound links. What I recommend that you do is go through all of your WordPress post and add the nofollow attribute to all the outbound links that you don’t to want to give page rank to. I don’t recommend adding the nofollow to all the outbound links on your blog, since this isn’t really friendly to fellow web site owners and you might want to help them out.

But if you happen to have outbound links on your web site that point to major search engines like yahoo, google, twitter, facebook, etc. I would recommend using the nofollow attribute in this instance , since why would these major web sites need any more page rank anyways?

Another great way to use the nofollow option to boost your WordPress page rank is by using it with your comments. The nofollow attribute works especially great for spam comments, as long the comment content relates to your wordpress blog. I don’t recommend using the nofollow attribute on all outbound links within the comments, since some comments are legit.

But if you are receiving alot spam to your WordPress blog, which you probably are. You mine as well make convert these useless spam comments, into great content for wordpress blog as long as the comments relate to the subject of your web site.

A great plugin that you can use to add the nofollow attribute to your comments URLs is the NoFollow Case by Case plugin. The NoFollow Case by Case plugin will allow you to specify for each comment, whether you want the major the search engines to follow the link or not. If you don’t want the seach engines to follow a comment link, simply open up the comment that you want to edit; then add “dontfollow” to the end of the link.

In order to find the highest CTR Google AdSense format for you wordpress blog, you will need to learn how to use channels. In this article I will discuss what are ad channels, and also how to use the different channel types. Google AdSense channels are used to allow you to be able to log important information about your AdSense ads. Also you must be able to remember what each channel represents, so be specific when naming your ads, for example “468×60 homepage top left”.

The url channel will show you the same information as the custom channel, but the stats will be based per web page and not by the specific ad.
