I was on the computer one day and a stumbled upon programming for kids language called SiMPLE.

I checked them out a bit and found that it was supposed to be an easy language that is aimed toward beginners. It stand for SImple Modular Programming and Environments. I tried it a out a bit and found out that I didn’t like it that much.

Of course, I have to do research on everything, so I looked it up on Wikipedia. Turns out, they guys who invented tried to create language that was easy to use because they thought languages like C++ to hard for beginners.

Which I don’t get. Everyone says that about C++. I started learning C++ just a few months ago and it’s not actually that hard. It’s quite easy to understand and quite easy to work with. I don’t mean to be conceited, but maybe I’m just different . I’ve always been interested in computers/programming since I was little, but I’ve only started to get into real development and programming recently.

I don’t mean to tell you not to use SiMPLE, but it’s more a of a hobby language than a hardcore development system. If you really want to be a professional programmer would recommend learning C/C++, or starting out with any other C-based language and then learning C++ itself (and paying attention in math class ).

I just got an email today from Softpedia saying that my May The Force Be With You plugin was added to their site. I love Softpedia. I go there all the time looking for programs and scripts, and to have something I made added to it is awesome. Someone else made a post on my plugin too. I guess people like it. It’s had 241 downloads on WordPress.org.

I thought their first logo was the rainbow apple. But it's not. Imagine this on the back of a MacBook.

Darwin? Open source?

Darwin (in case you didn’t know) is kernel of Mac OS X, IOS and other Apple operating systems. It’s open source. I thought that was weird when I found out because Apple isn’t an open source company. It uses code from BSD systems and most open source licenses require derivatives to be published under the same license as the original work. As you probably know, BSD systems use the BSD license.

Mac OS X actually has several open source components (unlike Windows) you can get the source for stuff at http://opensource.apple.com. It is also the world’s best-selling UNIX-like system. I don’t know if it meets the FSF’s definition of “Free Software”.

I don’t no that much about Mac OS X. I’ve only spent about 20 minutes of my entire life in front of a Mac and most of that time was spent playing with Garage Band. All I know is UNIX is awesome and therefore, Mac OS X must be.

The Darwin logo looks like the BSD daemon except it’s a platypus. It’s name is Hexley.

I think this image takes it a bit too far. But some of Apple's ideas are based on already existing things. (Example: Mac OS X is based on UNIX.) I think Dennis deserves more credit.

FOLLOWUP: Steve Jobs did not invent GUI. That was Douglas Englebert.

The entire world went crazy when Steve Jobs died but Dennis Ritchie was found dead a few weeks ago, and hardly anyone knows.

Who’s Dennis Ritchie?

Dennis Ritchie invented the C programing language. That means he’s responsible for:

Unix
Windows
Mac OS *
Linux
GNU
IOS
Android
PHP
Java
C++
Perl
CGI
Anything else written in or based on C

Okay, I get the picture now.

I think it’s strange that the announcement of his death was not broadcasted louder and farther then the death of Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs invented the first GUI operating system. Dennis Ritchie invented the programming language in which Jobs did it. Dennis Ritchie should be far more popular than Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Linus Torvalds or any other famous programmer even if the did not use C they used a language based on it. Nothing against Steve Jobs. Dennis Ritchie revolutionized the computer industry more than Steve Jobs but yet no one knows ho he is.

WordPress 3.3

So today, the WP dev team released the first WordPress 3.3 beta. So, I decided to try it out (locally if course not on my website). Guess what, I LOVE IT WITH ALL MY HEART, SOUL, AND LIVER, ETC! The new admin bar is awesome and the administration menus are different. Instead of clicking a little down arrow, you just put your mouse over it and the sub menu items pop-out. I can’t wait until they fully release it.

Now excuse me while I go play with it.
