Fred Moore, dressed as a stunning miner/prospector, posed on top of the 16 3/4 ton rock at the Alaska Sealife Center at the end of the 100-year Anniversary Commemoration of the Iditarod Trail on September 6th. The bronze statue of an Alaskan miner/prospector with his dog is anticipated to be completed by 2012.

Seward Schools held an open house Thursday for parents and the community. Parents could meet their children’s teachers, school principals, sign the kids up for Girl Scouts, or the Boys and Girls Club, join the PTSA or Seward Music Association, and generally get in the spirit of back-to-school.
