Hello lovely people, I am so excited to finally be able to share official news about the rerelease of the…

Hello lovely people, I am so excited to finally be able to share official news about the rerelease of the entire Sex, Life, & Hannah series as well as Book 4: the last season, the last book, the grand finale…

First off, I am absolutely in love with the new covers. The colors, the flirty vibe; I think they capture the essence of the book series perfectly. I also renamed each book in the series because I hadn’t put much thought into titles when I first started writing the series (unfortunately). I think the new titles: Wicked Winter Breakup, Racy Spring Rebounds, Boss Summer of Sin, and Hard Fall to Bliss, give a nice glimpse into the theme of each book. The books have also been updated somewhat to reflect current times. We’re no longer really taking taxis or thumbing through the yellow pages, and poor Blackberry… Finally, the website has been completely re-vamped. I will no longer be blogging on the regular, but I really wanted the focus of the new site to be about the books.

And that fourth book…that Hard Fall to Bliss…damn I am really happy with how it turned out. I wrote an initial draft years ago, and then of course got distracted by other book projects, and re-visiting that draft wasn’t the easiest thing to do, but it was all worth it. Hannah goes through some final drama, until…she really does get everything that she wants…or needs. In that moment, in that place in her life. Because, let’s be real, we all end up wanting and needing different things throughout our life…

So…here are some dates and links (all the books are on pre-order until their new release dates):

Wicked Winter Breakup (Book 1) is up on Amazon for pre-order until July 28, 2020.

Racy Spring Rebounds (Book 2) is up on Amazon for pre-order until July 28, 2020.

Boss Summer of Sin (Book 3) is up on Amazon for pre-order until August 11, 2020.

Hard Fall to Bliss (Book 4) is up on Amazon for pre-order until October 13, 2020.

So far just the ebooks are on pre-order, and so far they are just available on Amazon…still working out the details on the print books and the books will be available on other platforms…soonish.

The new website is: www.sexlifehannah.com. Tell your friends. And subscribe to the newsletter.

I am doing a virtual book launch for all the books, and especially Book 4, so stay tuned for more info about upcoming virtual events.

Thank you all for sticking with me on this long road to the end of this book series. I can definitely call this a passion project that has evolved as much as my writing and story-telling abilities.

Pre-order the books, enjoy all the wrap-ups in the final book, and stay safe out there, xoxoxo, Hannah

Hannah Bares All In The Summer Season Apr 19, 2012 HANNAH BARES ALL—THIS TIME ON A BOAT—IN THIRD BOOK, THE…

Hannah Bares All In The Summer Season Apr 19, 2012

HANNAH BARES ALL—THIS TIME ON A BOAT—IN THIRD BOOK, THE SUMMER SEASON

LOS ANGELES, CA, APRIL 19, 2012 – Sex, Life, and Hannah, the juicy woman-on-top book series authored by S.L. Hannah, will unveil its third installment at Book Soup in Los Angeles on June 1st. The Summer Season picks up where its predecessors left off, chronicling the exploits of Hannah, a female professional trying desperately to make sense of the L.A. single life. Through broken hearts, broken dreams, and nearly-broken bed frames, Hannah grapples with the modern late-twenty-something’s conundrum: Does the fairytale life exist, and is it worth having?

It seems that Hannah’s heroine is not alone in this debate. Cable television is crawling with ladies trapped under this same conundrum. HBO’s new series, Girls, follows newly-graduated protagonist Hannah Horvath as she struggles to support herself in chasing her professional dreams, while learning about love and sex in a cold, technologically-distracted world. Showtime’s Secret Diary of a Call Girl dealt with Hannah Baxter, a college graduate concealing her career choice as a call girl, in a world that advocates more traditional life decisions.

While it may seem like an uncanny coincidence that these women all share a name, it’s not as uncanny that they are all having the same deliberations. Is modern media telling us that the average professional woman is mind-warped over society’s expectations of her?

Sex, Life, and Hannah addresses this question poignantly and humorously, in all forms. An article recently posted to its website blog, entitled “Do Not Be This Girl”, critiques the woman’s typical marriage path with biting candor—and garnered over 12,000 hits as soon as it hit the Internet. Proving that non-traditional courtship can be quite the adventure, the site’s most viewed book excerpt, “Sex in an Airplane Bathroom”, spares no dirty detail of Mile-High-Club induction gone terribly wrong. Sex, Life, and Hannah is acclaimed by audiences as jaw-dropping, frank, and relatable. Writer’s Digest hails it as “an honest, sensitive, and intelligent investigation of the human heart… [with] wit, charm, pathos, and passion.”

ABOUT S.L. Hannah

S.L. Hannah was born in Poland, grew-up in Canada, and moved to Southern California in 1997. After many years of flying airplanes, designing airports, exploring the world, and dating a swarm of eligible bachelors, she created the adventures of hannah to focus on writing fiction. Hannah resides in Los Angeles. When she’s not writing fiction, she continues to solve the aviation problems of the world..

This hasn’t posted yet on The Indie Spotlight, but I thought you might enjoy reading the answers I just sent them to their questions.

Q. Tell us about your book series:

The Sex, Life, & Hannah book series is an exploration of the human heart; the things we desire and fear most, and Hannah is the telescope into our most intimate thoughts and emotions. What starts off as a basic girl loses boy and tries to find love again story, ends up winding us through the sordid details of the relationships that shape our lives. Will Hannah find The One? Will Jack ever stop philandering with both sexes and settle down? Will Ireland ever have a baby? Will Celeste ever give up her virginity? Sex, Life, & Hannah is a sexy shotgun blast of cocktails, cockteases, and revelations.

Q. How long did it take to write the book?

I had originally written one manuscript about Hannah’s adventures, which took about a year to write. Me and my editors ended up discarding quite a bit from that original manuscript, so it took about another half year to complete what became the first book in the Sex, Life, & Hannah series.

I took some of what was discarded in my original manuscript and wrote the second book, the Spring Season, in about another half year. The third book in the series, that I’m writing now, has been the most challenging, because I don’t have an old manuscript to pull from. The characters have taken on lives of their own, and I’ve had to shape stories around their pivotal moments rather than those that were originally mine.

Q. What inspired you to write the book?

The inspiration for the book series came from my adventures in and out of relationships, and the stories of my closest friends. I wanted to write something relatable; an honest dissection of what we were going through as women and men in our late twenties. And then Sex and the City came out as a TV series, and it proved to me that there was an audience for what I wanted to write and how I wanted to write.

Q. Talk about the writing process. Did you have a writing routine? Did you do any research, and if so, what did that involve?

I think the most important thing in the writing process is discipline. You have to set a time every day to write, whether you’re inspired or going through writer’s block. Without that discipline, you will never finish your book.

Also, what helps me write most is music. When I’m getting ready to write a scene I go through my music and pick the perfect song that captures the essence of what I’m trying to write, and then put it on repeat.

Research, even in fiction, is important, because you still need that flavor of believability, especially in my books where I often blend the real with the made up. Especially when I’m writing a scene that’s technical, like when Jack was telling Hannah about how men can have multiple orgasms, I had to do my research. I wouldn’t want to write something that’s physiologically impossible.

Q. What do you hope your readers come away with after reading your book?

Most of us, as we get into our late twenties, and especially if we’re not where we want to be or getting what we want out of life, start to feel like we’re the only one. Like everyone else is living their dream and we’re struggling. What I hope people get out of reading my books is that sometimes you just can’t get what you want, and what you think you want is not necessarily what you need anyway. Just like that Rolling Stones song…

Will Hannah ever get married?

May 5, 2011

This morning, in my inbox:

I love your books, I can’t wait for the third one, just one question, will Hannah ever get married?

It was, as if, a plea for hope. And one I was very familiar with. I’d heard my friends lament over this question plenty, and as I stretched into my late twenties I found myself asking it too. It was actually one of the reasons why I decided to write Sex, Life, & Hannah in the first place.

When I wrote the first draft of what was to be Sex, Life & Hannah, back in 2004, the overlying moral of the story was self love. The original Hannah, like the new Hannah, and me, was going through a slew of men; sometimes purely for pleasure, but always seemingly on a quest, to find “The One”. You know, that one person that would ultimately complete her, fulfill her, and turn her life into everything she wanted it to be. Except a light bulb goes off towards the end of that manuscript:

Sitting on that airplane, heading back to L.A., I realized I would never be happy with anybody else until I was happy with myself. I would never be happy until I stopped being afraid of being by myself, or being single. And being single was not about whoring around every weekend, or jet setting to fabulous parties, or experimenting with opiates, and then marrying someone just because it felt like the right thing to do. Being single was about finding what truly fulfilled us so that we didn’t have to settle into what only comforted us.

I knew what I had to do. It was probably one of the hardest things I would ever do. I had to give him the ring back.

I still love that ending. It’s so powerful and liberating, and Hannah deciding on a new quest, one to find happiness on her own, questions our (my) traditional values, and was exactly the message I wanted to send at that time in my life. But what kind of author would I be if I gave it all away. The truth is, I’m not sure how the Sex, Life, & Hannah series will end. Will Hannah end up alone? Does self love necessarily mean finding yourself over finding a mate? Or will Hannah eventually find something that is the best of both worlds?

Be patient, and remember, the ending, is never as important as the journey.

Sex, Life, & Hannah: Smut or Smart? Mar 9, 2010 Sometimes I feel like I need to explain myself. Especially…

Sex, Life, & Hannah: Smut or Smart? Mar 9, 2010

Sometimes I feel like I need to explain myself. Especially to people who haven’t read my books and just see: SEX in the title. Or maybe they read a risqué excerpt and immediately put the entire series in the soft porn category. Or they read a blog post about me recommending a vibrator and think my next career move is working for the Pleasure Chest. People, you know who you are… Well, what better way to clear the air than to blog about it to the world. Express your thoughts, expose the truth, and empower yourself. Because THAT is what the Sex, Life, & Hannah book series is really all about: Expressing yourself and being honest so that you can be empowered and get everything you want out of life.

Since we’re talking honesty, I didn’t set out to write a Girl Power book series. I wanted to write a fun and frank book about love and relationships, and yes, sex. Because these three things shape so much of your life and who you are (they sure as hell continue to shape my life). We seem to always be talking about who we’re dating or who we wish we were dating, or why we just can’t seem to figure out how to have an orgasm with a man. And if we’re not talking about that, we’re talking about the job we love to hate, or how to give a good hand job… We’re talking about this stuff because it resides in our most intimate thoughts; those thoughts that make us most vulnerable and effect whether we sulk or strut. So we want to feel like we’re not quacked out, and that other people understand, or have gone through what we’ve gone through. When we can relate, or others can relate to us, we feel…normal. If there is such a thing, but regardless, when we feel like we’re not alone we start feeling better about things and that we can get through even the most unpleasant hurdle. So whether I intended it or not, the Sex, Life, & Hannah series WILL make you feel better about even the most depressing things.

To wrap this up I’m going to give away the ending of the book series: Hannah becomes an independent, confident women that gets everything she wants. You know why? Because it’s possible. We all have the power to shape our destiny and be truly happy. It doesn’t matter where you come from or what situation you are in right now–you have the power to change it. And if you don’t recognize that yet, read Sex, Life, & Hannah.

Hannah Reinvents Hot for the Spring Season of Sex, Life, and Hannah and Auctions off her Men for a Good Cause Jan 19, 2010

This Spring Season it looks like “single” is the style Hannah’s toting. A number of sources have reported various sightings of the stunning L.A. socialite—sans her man. In fact, Hannah’s been spotted with a different plus-one nearly every outing…which has quickly become an under-one or on-top-of-one…

Everyone familiar with the Sex, Life, & Hannah book series has read about all the eligible bachelors Hannah has stumbled over. There’s The Ex; the self-absorbed metrosexual who cares more about getting a down payment for a Mercedes than getting Hannah’s engagement ring back. Her neighbor Ben, so-good-looking, yet so-not-able to last longer than three minutes in the sack. Mr. Smyth, the man she meets in a woman’s bathroom, and who breaks up with her in his bathroom. Cain, a Superman-Doctor that turns out to beher Kryptonite. Ace—a John McEnroe on and off the court. And there’s more…

Want a shot at a date with one of Hannah’s fine men?

This February 10th, Hannah will be hosting a bachelor auction at Em&Co—the cutting-edge fashion boutique in West Hollywood. Why is Hannah putting these men on the auction block? Maybe she’s readying herself for something new in the summer… The event starts at 7 PM, with bachelors strutting their stuff at 8:30 pm. Hannah will be signing books; music, tasty treats, and Hannah’s signature cocktail will be served up all night. Sex, Life, & Hannah books and merchandise will be on sale with proceeds going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
