Each year around this time we decide to give back by offering a select few TF* eye candy portfolio sessions. So if you’re in the market for some high quality images, now is the time to drop us a line on our contact form.

Below is a quick summary for how SexyShorty.com runs TF* sessions. Other companies may run things different ways, but after doing many TFP sessions, this is what works best for Sexyshorty.com. Use this as a reference for models so that there aren’t any misunderstandings about what is to happen before, during and after our photo shoot. Also, note that this is for TFP/CD sessions only. Paying clients have different standards. I will make this as brief as possible.

A TFP/CD is an exchange of services. It is NOT “WORKING FOR FREE”. We are trading our in house photographer’s photography services for your modeling services. Our services have a monetary value as does your modeling time. With this investment of services, each party is to use the results to market and advance themselves. Sometimes these services aren’t of equal value but an upfront understanding is vital so that both parties feel good about the process.
Currently, any TFP/CD work may, or may not be used for content on SexyShorty.com. Our focus is glamour (for SexyShorty.com), beauty/fashion (for agency-quality models only) and nudes (for gallery or competition entry).
For beauty, fashion and nude work, we’d like to have a concept in mind before shooting. While I also prefer to have a pre-conceived concept when shooting glamour, Our photographer is totally capable of going “freestyle” and creating excellent work without it.
While we do shoot nudes, we’ve chosen not to add them to this website. In the future, we may create a separate area of this site to display that work, but for now, they are only in our hard case portfolio.
Being a little old-school we prefer to discuss the shoot with the model by phone. During our discussion, we generally ask about the model’s comfort level (if shooting glamour or nudes), outfits and clothing, availability and whether the model is looking for something specific from the shoot.
The model(s) will be responsible for her outfits. The model(s) will be responsible for makeup artists and hair stylists, if needed. We can hire a makeup artist but the cost will be passed on to the model(s).
SexyShorty.com’s TFP/CD shoots typically consist of 2-3 looks.
We expect models to fit categories. Glamour models to have curves. Fashion models to be tall. Nude models to be fit. Beauty models to be uniquely beautiful (good skin and bone structure).
A model release, usage agreement and 2257 compliance statement must be signed before any shooting happens. For 2257 compliance, a copy of a photo ID containing date of birth (usually a driver’s license) will be kept on file.
As stated in our usage agreement, modifications of delivered images is prohibited.
We will deliver the best shots from our shoot. For each look, we will deliver 2 retouched images. We DO NOT deliver all shots from a shoot. Additional images will incur an additional cost.
The model will get to select the images from the shoot from a contact sheet. This is a condition that may soon change as some models (mostly newer ones) tend not to select the best images. If the model doesn’t make her photo selections after 1 week, we will do the selection ourselves.
After the model selects the images, they will be delivered anywhere from 1 week to 1 month. The time of delivery will be based on how many other clients’ photos that we’re currently working on. The images will be in JPEG format and will contain a watermark. The longer side of the image will be 600-800 pixels in size. The images will be delivered by e-mail, or in special cases, by CD.
Prints or print-ready images are available at an extra cost. Ask about prices as they differ based on size (5×7, 8×10). If you take the print-ready images to an independent printer, we can’t guarantee results as our files are calibrated to our lab.
There will be NO escorts, chaperons, bodyguards or anyone of that nature at our shoot. If you want your driver to come in and meet our staff, fine … but then they leave. If you want to meet our staff before the shoot, fine … if it’s convenient to our schedule. If you have a makeup artist, GREAT … but if she/he’s to hang around after working on you, make sure that it’s someone that you’re comfortable working in front of. And let us be very clear … DON’T EVER SHOW UP TO THE STUDIO WITH SOMEONE WE HAVE NOT DISCUSSED BEFOREHAND.
If you don’t show up, there will not be a rescheduling of the photo shoot. If you cancel within 24 hours of the shoot, there will not be a rescheduling of the photo shoot without a non-refundable deposit. If you’re grossly late, the shoot will be considered canceled.
We usually shoot out of home studio, in Wilmington DE, but at times we might rent a place to work out of (i.e. hotel suite, pool house etc).
This is our business. I take it seriously. I ask that anyone that I work with carry a professional attitude, whether they’re a beginner, a professional or a modeling veteran.
We can provide references upon request.

UrBoi Photography Modeling session with Suny

Going through some old photos I found one of my very first sessions with Suny. It was an impromptu session done in my apartment’s living room with a few Nikon SB800 strobes and my trusty D40 (which has been handed off to my daughter who’s a photographer in training) and the traditional seamless white paper. Working with Suny was quite the adventure as this young lady’s personality is so darn bubbly that she had me laughing the whole time. And talk about coming prepared, she brought so many traveling suitcases I thougt she was moving in. One bag was for heels, another was for outfits a 3rd was for makeup and supplies and the fourth was for accessories. And let me be honest we had been friends for about 4 years before this session so she felt real comfortable converting my bedroom into her private dressing room. Shoot her husband and I spent the next two days hauling stuff out (Thanks Baby Boy). Nonetheless we had a lot of fun shooting and I believe we came up with a lot of great photos. Expect more from the future from her as she’s starting to become a fixture in front of my camera.

Makeup is a necessity not a maybe.

That’s a quote from one of the makeup artists (now referred to as MUA’s) I use for my photo sessions. And I too stand by that quote, having a makeup artist on deck during a shoot can make all the difference between a so-so photo and a photo that jumps off the page/screen. This is especially true if your MUA wears multiple hats; hair stylist wardrobe / image consultant. Granted that having a MUA available for a shoot may not be in the budget for everyone, but if you’re a model and you’re trying to get noticed and you want future work as a paid model then I strongly suggest using a MUA. Even if you’re not a model having a MUA can help with the process of creating that WOW factor. I’m not saying that as a photographer we can’t bring that factor on our own. But as with any process this is a step that should not be taken lightly.

I have noticed from some of my earlier work without an MUA and then the work done with a MUA that only in the slightest instances does the work without the MUA parallels the work done with the MUA. I guess it really depends on the context of the photo. I also learned that having a MUA on site during the shoot can save valuable time in post. See with the MUA on site they can correct things that you would have ended up dealing with in post. I have had a few MUA’s whom assisted during a shoot with the infamous shiny forehead from the model sweating from working with bright lights and multiple poses, as well as minor fixes of the hair. Plus there have been times whereas the entire color scheme needed to be changed and guess what you change the color most cases the makeup will need to be changed as well.

One of the biggest arguments I hear from some potential clients are; for the amount I’m paying the makeup artist I can just go to the mall into the MAC store spend $40 dollars and get something and they will make me up. True but considering that MAC doesn’t take appointments there’s no guarantee that you’ll be to your session in time. Also the MAC agents don’t have the slightest clue of what type of colors you’re going to be shooting against. I know blue is blue, but in the photography world blue is not always blue. The MUA when doing your makeup on site can review the scene we’re shooting and do your makeup accordingly. Then also take into consideration that you are at the mall not in the studio. Once you leave the mall and head to the studio it’s a touch & go situation. Especially if you’re dealing with the elements such as rainy day or extreme humidity, see hiring a MUA she can do your make once you’re at the studio. Therefore eliminating the fear of your makeup just not looking right for your session and not getting the results you were looking for.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that if you’re looking for the best possible result during your photography session… and whether or not you’re doing it on a personal or professional capacity you should strongly consider including a MUA in your session. Believe me a good MUA can make all the difference. Even with the photos I do for my port I will never shoot without a good MUA.

Chanti for Stilletto House

Nothing I love more than working with a model that I’m also friends with and have been for quite sometime. Chanti came through to do a shoot for an upcoming Fashion/Glamour website and we had a ball! Everything clicked… and as a photographer you have to really appreciate when a shoot comes together. So many elements that comes together to achieve a successful session. This was also my first time working with her brother who designed her dress showing in this post by the way! We has so much fun with this session that time just slipped away. Basically it was light when we came into the studio but definitely dark once we left. But nonetheless we had a ball and the photos came out great (if I do say so myself).
