“The Administration has clearly abbreviated this review process to a
meager six weeks… simply unheard of for a treaty of this significance
and scope. I am greatly disappointed at the lack of seriousness on the
part of the Administration to review the ATT before agreeing to sign it.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) – author of S. Con.
Res. 7, the bipartisan resolution which makes clear a United Nations
Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) that undermines constitutional freedoms of
American gun owners will not be ratified by the Senate – today responded
to Assistant Secretary of State Thomas Countryman’s statement that the
United States will sign the ATT when it opens for signature on June 3, 2013.

This announcement comes on the heels of the Administration abandoning
its previous insistence on consensus by allowing a vote in the U.N.
General Assembly to pass the U.N. ATT.

    “This news is incredibly disappointing, given Assistant Secretary
Countryman has previously described the goals of the treaty as
‘ambiguous.’ Good treaties aren’t ambiguous, and our constitutional
rights are too important to be entrusted to a dangerous treaty drafted
by nations hostile to the ownership of firearms by private citizens.

    “Upon passage of the ATT at the U.N. General Assembly on April 2,
the Administration indicated it would begin an extensive and thorough
internal legal and policy review – a process typically requiring several
months. By already signaling a readiness to sign the Treaty, the
Administration has clearly abbreviated this review process to a meager
six weeks. This is simply unheard of for a treaty of this significance
and scope. I am greatly disappointed at the lack of seriousness on the
part of the Administration to review the ATT before agreeing to sign it.

    “The United States should ratify treaties only when they are in our
national interest, clear in their goals and language, respect our
sovereignty, and do not create any openings to infringe upon our
constitutional freedoms. The Arms Trade Treaty fails to meet any of
these tests, which is why I urge the President not to sign it, and why a
bipartisan coalition of 36 U.S. Senators will remain united in
opposition to ratification.”

Sen. Moran’s concurrent resolution, S. Con. Res. 7, is cosponsored by 35
U.S. Senators including: Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH),
John Barrasso (R-WY), Max Baucus (D-MT), John Boozman (R-AR), Richard

A war of words has broken out in Europe between Francois Hollande's socialist party in France and the Christian Democrats led by Angela Merkel in Germany. The split between the two nations has become so bitter that some papers are suggesting the allies may be "heading for divorce."

The spat began last week when the French socialists leaked a draft of a party policy paper which attacked the "selfish intransigence of Mrs Merkel." The 21 page paper argued that England and Germany were responsible for the problems in Europe and were pushing right-wing politics of "deregulation, deindustrialisation and disintegration."
Perhaps the most strident quote from the socialist paper reads "The [EU] community project is now scarred by an alliance of convenience between the Thatcherite accents of the current British prime minister – who sees Europe only as à la carte and about rebates – and the selfish intransigence of Chancellor Merkel who thinks of nothing else but the savings of depositors in Germany, the trade balance recorded in Berlin and her electoral future."

Nigerian forces have launched air strikes against suspected Islamist militant camps in the country's northeast.
A military spokesman said all known militant camps in three northeastern states are being attacked and that several camps in Borno state have been destroyed or taken over.
The spokesman, Brigadier General Chris Olukolade, said earlier Friday that the attacks killed an undetermined number of insurgents.
President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in Borno and the neighboring states of Yobe and Adamawa on Tuesday, following a sharp rise in attacks by the militant group Boko Haram.
Jonathan deployed extra troops to the region and authorized security forces to take "all necessary actions" against the militants.
Boko Haram has battled the government since 2009 in an effort to impose Islamic law on majority-Muslim northern Nigeria.
In a video this week, the group's purported leader claimed responsibility for recent attacks in the towns of Baga and Bama and said militants would begin kidnapping women and children as part of their strategy.
More than 3,000 people have been killed in Boko Haram-related violence, including hundreds killed in government counter-insurgency operations.

Massachusetts: Seven Muslims caught trespassing at large public water supply for Boston; patrols stepped up statewide

Massachusetts State Police beefed up patrols around the reservoir that supplies Boston's drinking water after seven foreign students were caught trespassing in the area late at night.
With the city still jittery after the April 15 terror attack at the Boston Marathon, word that two women and five men, reportedly from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Singapore, had been found in the restricted area around the Quabbin Reservoir caused concerns. The reservoir serves Boston and some 40 other communities in the area.
“As an extra precaution, water quality samples were analyzed at MWRA’s lab yesterday and all came back normal," Ria Convery, of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, told the Boston Herald. “There is no evidence of any water quality issues at the Quabbin Reservoir following the trespassing incident.”
It was after midnight on Tuesday morning when a state trooper on patrol at the reservoir spotted two cars parked on the grass near one of Quabbin’s entrances. The cop investigated and found a group of seven people, five men and two women walking from the water back to their cars. When the police officer asked why they were trespassing, members of the group replied that they were chemical engineers and recent college graduates who had an educational interest in the reservoir, according to police.
The group was briefly held at the scene while background and warrant check were conducted but let go after their records turned up clean.
“There was no evidence that the seven were committing any crime beyond the trespassing,” Massachusetts State police spokesman David Procopio told FoxNews.com, adding that officers on the scene checked the vehicles and the park area and did not locate any items out of place or of a criminal nature.
Procopio also said that a preliminary investigation determined the individuals were originally from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore. The Springfield field office of the FBI was contacted by the State Police and is assisting in an investigation.

It has always amazed me what happened in our history. The Andalusian age of Islam was the repository of nearly all knowledge ever known to man.
They were the most advanced civilization on the planet, light-years ahead of all others and valued higher learning as much as their religion. While medieval Europe struggling through the Dark Ages made little progress dominated by an unyielding and narrow-vision of Christianity. During the clash of civilizations known as the Crusades, which is reoccurring again today, the cultures swapped directions. Islam was almost destroyed and its people returned to backward non-critical thinking while the knowledge the European's learned gave birth to the Age of Enlightenment. Its like the energy transferred when they collided carried with it an electric jolt of knowledge. Sort of like God or Allah said, "You people do not need this anymore so I will give it to these people who do."
Or maybe God saying "If you insist on worshiping this false prophet Mohammed, I will remove my blessing from you, children of Ismael."
I wonder what he will decide about modern America for abandoning Christianity for Communism?

When the investigation was over, Zeifman fired Hillary from the committee staff and refused to give her a letter of recommendation – one of only three people who earned that dubious distinction in Zeifman’s 17-year career.' Why? "Because she was a liar," Zeifman said in an interview last week. “She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality.' Katie Haberman calls on the Raleigh City Council to acknowledge the National Research Council's findings in 2006 that the EPA standards for fluoride in water were not satisfactory in preventing adverse health effects. Katie ably asserts her sovereignty and demands the Council acknowledge that she does not consent to being fluoridated. She reminds them that their policy does not trump law. Councilor John Odom meekly offer his acknowledgement. Perhaps the fact that doing something to someone without their consent is tyrannical will dawn on this Raleigh City Council in the near future.

Rocco Piserchia calls on Mayor Nancy McFarlane to explain and end her affiliation with the highly suspect group Mayors Against Illegal Guns (whatever that means). The tyranny knows no bounds, as our local leaders fluoridate the water against people's will and work to disarm law-abiding citizens. Criminals and criminals in government would have free reign over the people of Raleigh, but a stalwart Rocco Piserchia stands vehemently opposed.

How the military restricts special operations servicemen and others from engaging in timely return fire when fired upon by the Taliban and other terrorist groups and interests, thus jeopardizing the servicemen’s lives.

How Afghani forces accompanying the Navy SEAL Team VI servicemen on the helicopter were not properly vetted and how they possibly disclosed classified information to the Taliban about the mission, resulting in the shoot down of the helicopter.
How military brass, while prohibiting any mention of a Judeo-Christian God, invited a Muslim cleric to the funeral for the fallen Navy SEAL Team VI heroes who disparaged in Arabic the memory of these servicemen by damning them as infidels to Allah. A video of the Muslim cleric’s “prayer” will be shown with a certified translation.

I've encountered a few folks who don't realize that slavery still exists in the world. I'm not talking about figurative slavery--like every April 15th, here in the States. Rather, I'm talking about literal contemporary slavery, with kidnapping and a life spent in chains or locked up in a cell or prison-like dormitory every night. Slavery is still commonplace in North Africa, most notably in the Sahel. Wikipedia sums it up: "The [slavery] problem is most severe in the Sahel region (and to a lesser extent the Horn of Africa), along the racial boundary of Arabized Berbers in the north and blacks in the south. This concerns the Sahel states of Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad and Sudan in particular, continuing a centuries-old pattern of hereditary servitude going back to the Muslim conquests." It is estimated that there are more than 200,000 slaves in Sudan, alone. Many of these slaves are Christian, and virtually all of their slave masters are Muslims.

You will have to look hard to find many mentions of slavery in the politically correct mainstream media, which is still dutifully chanting the "Islam is the religion of Peace" mantra. Most western liberal journalists have conveniently twisted the concept of modern slavery to focus almost entirely on sex slaves in Eastern Europe and in places like Thailand, while ignoring much more blatant slavery in North Africa. To be fair, it is much easier for a journalist to get a picture of a teenage prostitute on a street corner in Bangkok than it is for them to get a picture of slave toiling in field near Al-Fashir. But there still seems to be a lot of willful ignorance and misdirection. Thankfully, we do hear about what is going on in Sudan on CBN, from bloggers like Chuck Holton, and through other Christian media outlets.

How can you help stop modern-day slavery? Please support active resistance in the Sahel region. Just a few brave folks are liberating slaves and teaching villagers how to shoot, so that they can fight off would-be slaver kidnappers. One charitable group that will soon be doing firearms training on the border of South Sudan and Sudan is Christian Reformed Outreach, South Sudan (C.R.O.S.S.) I support and highly recommend their unique ministry. OBTW, they have a few volunteer support positions open, here in the United States that would be ideal for retirees.

I must mention that just buying up slaves and giving them their freedom hasn't worked. The slavers simply go and kidnap more of them. The only way to effectively stop armed slaver kidnappers is to train and equip large numbers of armed free men in the border villagers. In the modern context, you can "Just Say No" to slavery only with a battle rifle.
