In her new role, Dunlop Fletcher will set the overall vision for the department, overseeing acquisitions, exhibitions and publications. She previously served the museum as assistant curator from 2008 to 2013, and as associate curator&#0133;</p>

Operating a new coffee bar on the third floor of the museum when it reopens in spring 2016, Sightglass will offer visitors a selection of artfully handcrafted coffee beverages and pastries, as well as a space in which to reflect and connect adjacent to SFMOMA&rsquo;s new Photography&#0133;</p>

<p>The first work of art has been installed in our rapidly expanding Sn<em>&oslash;</em>hetta-designed building! Richard Serra&#39;s monumental sculpture <em>Sequence </em>(2006) arrived at the museum the week of February 15. Passersby traveling down Howard Street were treated to an impromptu art preview, with&nbsp;many&nbsp;capturing stunning shots of the complex installation.     <p>At a Topping Out ceremony on Wednesday, September 10, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) drew a crowd of some 1,000 supporters to celebrate the raising of the steel beam that brought the structure of the museum&rsquo;s 235,000-square-foot Sn&oslash;hetta-designed <a href="http://future.sfmoma.org/#transformation">building expansion</a> to its highest point. &nbsp;</p>

<p>This exhibition by Austrian artist Markus Schinwald (b. 1973) marks his first major commission for a U.S. institution. The site-responsive installation will include an architectural intervention that changes the physical and psychological potential of&#0133;</p>

    <p><span style="line-height: 1.6em;">The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) announced today the creation of the John and Lisa Pritzker Center for Photography, which will be the largest exhibition space for photography and among the most advanced photographic arts centers of any art museum in the United States.</span></p>

<p>Funded by a lead gift from the Pritzkers and generous gifts from four additional benefactors, the more than 15,500-square-foot center will nearly triple the current amount of space for&#0133;</p>

    <p>Mario Botta's 1995 SFMOMA building is an iconic presence within the cityscape of San Francisco. Located in downtown San Francisco's South of Market (SoMa) area, the five-story structure features a stepped and patterned brick facade topped by a soaring cylindrical turret.
