Emmy® Award Nominee Corbin Bernsen to Release Debut Novel Based on His Film, Rust

2015-10-13T09:49:00.001-07:00

Pelican Book Group brings the movie-to-book adaptation to readers this fall

AZTEC, N.M.—Pelican Book Group has announced the signing of Emmy® Award and Golden Globe Award® nominee, Corbin Bernsen to a publishing agreement. The publisher will bring Rust: The Novel, to readers this October 15. The book is an adaptation of Bernsen’s 2010 feature film Rust in which Bernsen played the main character as well as served as writer and director.

“I really found my voice in that film,” Bernsen says. “I was really looking for a greater meaning, a greater purpose, in life…to be able to expand on that in a novel just became an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”

Ever Since Georges Méliés adapted Jules Verne’s From the Earth to the Moon in 1902, books have regularly been adapted into movies. The reverse—movies into books—is a less common occurrence, but “makes sense when the characters and plot can be fleshed out to create a compelling novel,” according to Editor-in-Chief for Pelican, Nicola Martinez.

“The book holds such a relatable message about faith and family. We are thrilled to publish Rust,” says Martinez.

Rust: The Novel is the plight of one pastor’s crisis of faith and the struggle to save his friend’s life and restore hope to a floundering community. Readers will be getting a “better, fuller, richer story in the novel,” says Bernsen. “I was able to expand more intelligently, more interestingly, on some of the original themes and concepts in the film.”

Fans will be able to enjoy Rust: The Novel in both softcover and e-book formats. Pre-order discounts as well as book clubs, retailers’ and librarians’ specials are available. For more information about the forthcoming novel and Bernsen, visit http://pelicanbookgroup.com/rustnovel.

About Corbin Bernsen:
Corbin Bernsen most recently starred as Henry Spencer on USA Network’s hit original series Psych. First catapulted to stardom during the 1980s by the hit NBC TV series, L.A. Law, he was nominated twice for both an Emmy® Award and a Golden Globe Award®. Along the way, he hosted Saturday Night Live, and guest starred on Seinfeld and Star Trek to name a few notable television appearances. In the feature film arena, he starred in the comedy Hello Again, followed by other critically-acclaimed roles in Disorganized Crime, Wolfgang Peterson’s Shattered, The Great White Hype, and as the Cleveland Indians’ third baseman-turned-owner Roger Dorn in the extremely popular Major League series of films. With the film Rust, Bernsen shifted his focus to family-friendly movies and formed Home Theater Films. Bernsen’s latest film project, Christian Mingle , was released in January 2015 by Capitol. About Michael English
In Michael’s autobiography, The Prodigal Comes Home: My Story of Failure and God’s Story of Redemption (Thomas Nelson, Inc), he gives readers an honest look at the painful path that led him away from God and his family, but more importantly, he shows how God, with grace and mercy, rescued Michael and redeemed his shattered life.

"When the lowest thing that could possibly happen happens; don’t give up, because you might be missing a blessing down the road,” says English. "When I started driving my own life, as though God were like some kind of global positioning system that I could choose to follow or ignore, I turned down dead ends and dark alleys, thinking they were going to lead me somewhere.”

In 2009, Michael’s life came full circle as he returned to the Gaither Vocal Band as their lead singer. After a successful five year run with the GVB, Michael felt called to return to a full time solo career at the end of 2013.

Ernie Haase and Signature Sound welcome Tyler Vestal

2015-09-03T09:03:00.000-07:00

From the Ernie Haase and Signature Sound Newsletter of September 1, 2015, Ernie Haase announced a couple of changes to the EHSS lineup. Here is what he said:

I'd like to take this opportunity to announce the newest member of the EHSS family. His name is Tyler Vestal, and we are excited to have him on board!

If you have been to any of our summer concerts, I'm sure you've seen Tyler playing keyboards along with our own Wayne Haun on the piano. Due to the success of StowTown Records, Wayne's producer duties for all of the StowTown projects, his additional duties as a committee member on both the Grammy and Dove Awards panels, AND his brand new daily radio show heard on Solid Gospel Radio, Wayne is a verybusy man and will not be able to continue to go out with us every weekend. So, you guessed it...this is where Tyler comes in!
Tyler has been learning the ropes from the best and he will be our new keyboardist. But never fear...Wayne will continue to serve as our musical director and producer and will travel with us on the weekends when he is available to make sure we are continuing to do everything up to his standards! He keeps us on our toes and we need that!

So, here we grow again! The EHSS family just keeps getting bigger and, in this case, MUCH YOUNGER! I'm really enjoying having young Tyler and Dustin on the bus. They bring back so many fond memories of my younger days with the Cathedrals, and I love the new and fresh ideas they are bringing to the table.
And in addition to all of this news, EHSS would like to wish young Tyler a Happy 24th Birthday onSeptember 6th!! I have socks older than that!!! (I’ve always wanted to use that joke!)
I know you're going to love getting to know Tyler, and to help you out with that, please check out his full Bio HERE.

Dustin Doyle
Ernie Haase and Signature Sound recently added Dustin Doyle to the lineup after the departure of Doug Anderson. You can read more about Dustin HERE.

Steve Ladd Releases New Video With A Different Twist

2015-09-03T07:52:00.000-07:00

Centre, Alabama (August 31, 2015) Renowned Gospel soloist, Steve Ladd, has just released a new video with a little different twist to it. A fairly new idea to Southern Gospel music, instead of the usual concept video where a story about the song is "acted out” by the artist, this new video is a Lyric Video as the words of the song are flashed across the screen in time with the music.

Taken from his latest CD album, On My Own, his chart climbing radio release "Not Guilty” is getting attention, not only for being uniquely different, but for the strong message the song imparts to those who see the video and hear the song. According to reports, there is a stronger reception to the song when the lyrics are being shown as the song is heard.

Here's the link to this unique video: https://youtu.be/uMWT9WR5vDM .

Steve Ladd commented, "The video was Created by SPNCR Design and it's the first lyric video they have done in our Southern Gospel genre. I think it turned out great! Seeing the words to this song, along with the animation, really brings the song to life. I hope it reaches a lot of people. "Not Guilty” is doing very well at radio, and now on YouTube."

About Steve Ladd

Ladd’s newest project On My Own was produced by award winning co-producers Michael Sykes and Michael English, and is a power-house of music for all tastes. And although the last few years Ladd has been nominated for "New Artist of the Year”, has had two Top 40 Singles, toured with Gaither Vocal Band member Michael English and is featured with the Stamps Quartet on Alan Jackson’s newest "Precious Memories” CD, he feels most used when working with Candy Christmas’ Bridge Ministry to the Homeless on Tuesday nights in the Nashville area. Steve, his wife and two children are also ministry partners with Compassion International.

While the beginning of an extraordinary journey started with his family, evolved into being an integral part of some of the most award-winning Christian ensembles, the last few years as a solo artist have proven the Lord’s faithfulness in his family, his ministry, and his life. And although there is a team of support, partners and prayers behind Ladd and his ministry, he is very thankful to walk where the Spirit leads, "On His Own”.

Anthony Facello Announces A New Season

2015-09-03T07:22:00.000-07:00

Nashville, Tenn (Sept. 3, 2015) - While change is never easy, when GOD is in it, it is always good. With that, owner and tenor singer of Beyond The Ashes has announced a new season for his 10 year ministry.
Beyond The Ashes was started by Anthony Facello a decade ago with a passion and vision to touch lives for Christ. The group has been nominated for Dove Awards as well as receiving the Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award at the Absolutely Gospel Music Awards because of their progressive style and extraordinary talent.
Facello felt a tug in his heart to move in a different direction with his life and shared that with the other members of the group. He helped each member move forward into other ministries and now that the transitions have been finalized he issued the following statement:
"We all know there are changes of season. I love when Summer turns to Fall. The crisp air brings a feeling of new and fresh. With that being said there is a new season that has arrived in my life. Eight months ago God started dealing with me about a change and now the time has come for the last page of this chapter to turn. I have been blessed the last 10 years to lead the ministry of Beyond The Ashes. God has allowed me to play a part in the journey of many fine and talented gentlemen and now they are in great places. I have learned so much and my faith has become much stronger through these years. Thank you to all of the wonderful friends, churches and promoters who believed in Beyond The Ashes and in me. I will continue to nurture those wonderful relationships God has blessed me with. I love you all and ask for your continued prayers as I walk in this new season."
Though the full-time ministry of Beyond The Ashes is coming to a close, Facello anticipates continued opportunities to serve God in various capacities. He looks forward to some solo dates and, also, to periodically travel and share in music ministry with friends singing and speaking about the infinite LOVE of God. Additionally, there will be limited appearances in a new format of BTA which will be called Beyond The Ashes and Friends.
For information about Anthony Facello and to keep up with exciting ministry ahead visit ww.beyondtheashesonline.com or www.facebook.com/beyondtheashes .
For booking call 615-823-1557 or email scheduling@beyondtheashesonline.com .

About Anthony Facello
Anthony Facello, the group’s founder and tenor singer, is no stranger to Christian music. The Dove nominated male vocalist has been traveling for 18 years. He has sung and toured with some of Gospel music’s most recognized names and even enjoyed being a part of the well-known Gaither tour on several occasions. He is a singer’s singer. His incredible tenor voice is revered as one of the best in the industry. This is an opinion, not just shared by fans, but also, by industry peers. Anthony’s heart, though, is what really sets him apart. He is deeply committed to his calling. He would rather see someone sincerely touched by the music than be recognized for his gifts. In his free time, which is pretty infrequent, Anthony loves to get in a good work out at the gym, or just sit down and have coffee with friends.
Anthony shares, "I started out as a child singing in church and then with my family. Every week I would record Paul Heil's program, The Gospel Greats, and I would listen to those tapes over and over. I always knew that I was supposed to be in full time ministry and God saw fit to open that door in 1993.” In addition to being an incredible vocal artist, Anthony also enjoys writing music. He was born in Baltimore, MD and now makes his home in Pleasant View, TN.

Changes For Paul’s Journey

2015-05-06T09:13:00.001-07:00

Change is something that we all go through in life and it comes and goes whether we like it or not. Sometimes it’s bad and sometime it’s good. In the last 37 plus years of ministry we have gone through changes many times, and through it all God has always and will always be in control.

Having said this, we are also announcing the departure of our tenor singer Stan Watson. Stan has been a part of our group for about two and half years now. Rod says: “we’ll miss Stan the Man for sure! He’s a great singer and stage man, but even more than that, he’s a great friend! I don’t know if I’ve ever known anyone with such a big heart as Stan”.

It’s been hard on him and his family these last couple of years with Stan living in Missouri and the group based out of Texas. We appreciate his and their sacrifice and devotion these last couple of years.
Stan will be joining another singing ministry on June 1 and we’ll let them make that announcement in their own time. This is definitely the right move for Stan and his family. We will miss them very much and are praying for their future as well.

Joe Kitson’s brother Kurtis Kitson will be filling in the tenor position for a while. Kurtis is a very talented young man so Paul’s Journey will not miss a beat.

We are now accepting applications for the next full time tenor position for our group. If you are interested please send resume, picture, and demo to rodt@paulsjourneyonline.com or call our office at 936-273-3074.

Nashville, Tenn. (May 5, 2015) - World-renowned guitarist Ry Cooder, country music songbird Sharon White and country and bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs are combining forces for a national road show.

Today, the three music vets announced the "Cooder-White-Skaggs" tour, their maiden voyage as a musical trio. The tour kicks off in Salt Lake City this June and will continue with scheduled performances in Denver, Milwaukee, San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, New York City and more.

"Getting to work with Ry Cooder has been a dream of mine for a long time. He is a world-class musician," notes Skaggs. "We met at a GRAMMY Awards show many years ago and thought it would be a blast to do something together sometime, and now we're getting to create new sounds around old music. But the best part is getting to share the stage every night with my wife and sweetheart Sharon White. My heart is full!"

In a most exceptional pairing, master multi-instrumentalists Cooder and Skaggs will come together on stage to deliver a revelatory program of blues, gospel, and bluegrass music. They will be joined by White, one of the purest voices in country music, Joachim Cooder on drums, and Mark Fain on bass with occasional guest performances by Buck White and Cheryl White of The Whites.

"I always love singing and playing music with Ricky... he's just my favorite in every way!" says White. "And we are both so excited to be doing shows this year with Ry Cooder. What an incredible artist! He is truly a 'one-of-a-kind' musician! Ricky and I share Ry's love for traditional country, bluegrass, and old-time gospel music. He is passionate about doing music that is authentic and real. It's infectious!"

"'Cooder-White-Skaggs' is the legacy express, or I'll eat a bug," quips Cooder. "You are going to hear four-part singing from the heart, the finest and best instrumental activity in the land, songs you know and love and to top it off, the indomitable Buck White on piano who will turn your money green. Now who's happy? That's the way we're gonna stay so knock on wood!"

Wilburn & Wilburn Announce Heritage Of Gold Reunion Tour

2015-05-06T08:59:00.000-07:00

Tim Riley To Be Honored At Kickoff Concert

Gadsden, AL (May 1, 2015) Father and son Gospel duo Wilburn & Wilburn along with other former members of Gold City are pleased to announce the formation of the Heritage of Gold Reunion Tour, reuniting several Gold City alumni for an evening of music and memories. This tour, now available for booking, will feature three of today's most exciting groups -- Gold City, Wilburn and Wilburn, and The LeFevre Quartet. These groups will make up the core of each concert. Promoters will also be able to select either Jay Parrack or Steve Ladd to join former members Jonathan Wilburn and Mike LeFevre on stage to relive some of the great music and moments in the 35-year career of this much-awarded quartet.

Beckie Simmons, of the Beckie Simmons Agency responsible for handling the booking and coordination of this tour, is also pleased to announce Hall of Fame bass vocalist Tim Riley, who has not resumed full-time touring since suffering a stroke in 2014, will be available for select concert dates as well.

The official kickoff for this tour will be a special event in Gold City's home state of Alabama. The concert will be Saturday, July 11, 2015 at North Glencoe Baptist Church in Gadsden, AL at 6 p.m. Featured at this particular event will be Gold City, Wilburn and Wilburn, and The LeFevre Quartet, along with Jay Parrack and Vocal Event and Tim Riley.

This inaugural concert to kick off the Heritage of Gold Reunion Tour will also be a night the groups take special time to honor and thank Tim Riley for his many contributions to gospel music. Tim has sang Gospel music over 50 years and has dedicated the past 35 years to the work of Gold City, a group that rose to the national scene in the 1980's and quickly became the standard by which other quartets were measured. This night will not only mark the start of the tour celebrating the rich history of the group, but will pay homage to the man who has been the pillar of consistency throughout the group’s long and successful run which continues to this day--and the groups plan to honor Tim in grand fashion on this night.

From their beginning traveling together as a family in a Dodge Omni car, to a successful music ministry with national hits, The Browders of Hiltons, Virginia are one of the most exciting groups to step on stage in many years. This family group consists of Tommy Browder, his sons, Matthew and David, and Matthew’s wife, Sonya. In recent years, they have been steadily expanding and improving their ministry for the glory of God. The were voted "Breakthrough Artist of the Year” in the prestigious 2013 AGM Awards. They have enjoyed Singing News #1 song charting success with original songs like "Praise You In This Valley,” "Message Of The Cross," and "Land Of No Goodbyes." . With the release of their highly-anticipated, "The Message” recording came a milestone—their first #1 radio singles. They are currently performing songs from that recording as well as their hits and most-requested songs. Their current new release 'Time Machine' already has a number one song on the AGM Charts in "He's Alive”.

Though things change throughout the years, their mission has remained the same—to bring hope to a lost and dying world and to encourage and challenge believers. They’re real and they’re anointed. We hope that in the near future you are able to attend or host a Browders’ concert to experience how God is working through this team.

Doug Anderson STATEMENT

2015-05-01T07:55:00.000-07:00

Hello friends!
Yesterday during a video announcement it was announced that ever-popular vocalist Doug Anderson would be leaving Ernie Haase & Signature Sound. Below is a statement from Doug Anderson regarding the changes. Feel free to use this statement in any coverage.
Since the news was announced yesterday, I’ve been overwhelmed at the amount of love and support shown to me. Ernie Haase is my friend and is like a brother to me. The journey with him has been an amazing one and I will never be able to repay him for all he has done for me and my family. The last 13 years have been wonderful and I am going to miss climbing on the bus every week with ALL my brothers.
This decision was not an easy one, but one that I have complete peace about. As you saw in the video, nothing is wrong, no one is mad at anyone. I want to spend more time with my wife and girls, and I want them to travel with me some. It really is as simple as that.
I am very blessed that I can forge a new path on my own because of what Ernie Haase & Signature Sound did for me – I will be forever grateful.
I can’t wait to see you on the road! Please stay in touch with me on Twitter, Facebook and my website.
I LOVE YOU ALL and I will see you soon!
Doug

Award-winning Tenor DAVID PHELPS Tops Sales Charts

2015-05-01T07:50:00.000-07:00

NASHVILLE, Tenn.–GRAMMY®-nominated, classically trained tenor David Phelps topped the sales charts this week with his all-new recording, Freedom (Gaither Music Group). Produced by Phelps and mentor/friend/gospel music legend Bill Gaither, the new release landed at #1 on the Southern Gospel Albums chart and at #10 on the CCM Albums chart, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In addition, Phelps’ previous release, Classic (Gaither Music Group), hit the #2 spot on the Southern Gospel Albums chart, while the Classic DVD topped the Christian Music Video chart and came in at #3 on the Billboard Top Music Video chart.
Phelps, who wrote or co-wrote nine songs on the new release, describes, “…This is a snapshot of where I am on my journey…it’s real life and faith — not the absence of trouble, just the ability to be led through it by our loving Savior. For me, these songs are like the rings of a tree telling its story: some years were plentiful; some were dry; in the end they speak of life.”
Those songs of life underscore Phelps’ ability to bring music to life and showcase his award-winning, three-octave range. The recording includes gospel standards such as “Ain’t No Grave,” “When the Saints Go Marching In” and a signature recording of “We Shall Behold Him”; yet one of the songs taking audiences by storm is the Phelps-penned “Ghost Town (Freedom).”
“The central theme of Freedom emanates from the title song, ‘Ghost Town (Freedom),’” explains Phelps. “I began writing the era-based lyric in the verses and was amazed how the metaphor of Christ painted itself…it’s about why He did what He did: freedom!’ So much of our spiritual lives (and the songs on this project) are spent searching for or trying to cling to freedom.”
The recording features Phelps’ anticipated powerhouse vocals along with musicianship from a who’s who of Nashville talents including Gordon Mote, Chris Rodriguez, Danny O’Lannerghty, Greg Ritchie, Sam Levine, David Davidson and Jack Jezzro among others. The orchestrations were penned by Phelps, Mote, Steve Mauldin and Kristin Wilkinson. The rest of the Gaither Vocal Band — Bill Gaither, Wes Hampton, Adam Crabb and Todd Suttles – were on hand to perform some of the project’s background vocals.
Freedom is distributed through Capitol Christian Distribution and is available throughout general market stores and the Christian marketplace in addition to online retailers including iTunes, Amazon and www.gaither.com.
