Today I am sharing a Happy Birthday Card done with those fabulous stamps from the Tim Holtz collections Crazy Birds. The background is my creation using Dyan Reavely Paints.. These paints will leave you magnetized to your media and transmit a wonderful glazed veneer finish on your cardstock.
The stamped bird is colored using Tim Holtz Distress Markers.

Hello Connie Fossenier here from Stony Rapids, Saskatchewan. The snow is melting and this morning I could hear the wonderful sounds of the rapids running on Lake Athabasca. I am truly blessed to be able to live here.

Today, I am sharing a card I made using Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Cling Mounted Stamps.

The cute little bird is from Tim Holtz Cling Mounted stamp set called Crazy Birds CMS22 was water colored with Ranger Distress Markers and Tim Holtz Water color brush.

The Background stamp was from Stamper's Anonymous Tim Holtz Cling mounted stamps called "Natures's Moments

The stamped background was wet embossed on water color paper. The background was created using a technique with Tim Holtz Alcohol inks called Alcohol Ink Float on water.

Here is a link of a wonderful tutorial by Andy Skinner showing this style of background. I use medium weight water color paper and simply float on top rather than dip into the basin of water. Be warned !! this techie is a very addicting and fun.

SCRAPBOOKING WITH PRETTY AND PINK

I created a layout with the July 2015 Kit of my darling granddaughter.

The Hearts are cut from chipboard from Sizzix Bigz Die and painted with Ranger Dylusions Paints .

I have people ask me how I plan my layouts, what rules do I follow?

Here are some of the inspired antidotes I find helpful:

Select a color scheme, journaling and embellishments that convey the theme or mood of your photo(s).

Do not be modest in your creative endeavors to combine layers that appear to not mingle with each other or hint at being a glaring combination. Step our of your comfort zone and be courageous.

Choose diametrical colors and impression patterns that will add a spontaneous impact.

You can converge a hodgepodge of creative impressions that are in sync with your photos.

The finally of layering embellishments and journaling will complete and unify your scrapbook page.

My theme chosen "Pretty and Pink" and being a school photo, I wanted a simple and streamlined layout, the patterned paper combo added that extra punch.

I have to say that the July 2015 kit was my favorite to work with. I combined some Basic Grey Chipboard Fonts.

Tim Holtz Alterations Die Cut " Block Talk -Lowercase. the hearts are diecuts from the a Sizzix Bigz- Tim Holz Aleterations Die called "Heartfelt".
The corners and border trim are die-cuts form Sizzix Thinlets - Mixed Media. Fonts and hearts are painted with Tim Holtz Distress Paints.

SPELLBINDERS SHAPEABILITIES PENDANTS

Hello Shades of Stamping readers. It has been an extensive time since I posted any of my work on this blog. I am happy to be back crafting. I have been working on an Herbal Medicine Course and thus my crafting time had to take a back seat.

A customer requested me to make her some cards with a religious influence. I came up with the idea of Stained Glass with an Ornate Cross.

SUPPLIES USED:

SpellbindersShapeabilities Pendants (Fleur De Lis)

Rubber Stamp – Rubber Stampede

Cuttlebug Ornate CornersDie Cut

Sizzix die cut Ovals

Cardstock Vellum (heavy weight)

White - Ultra Smooth Cardstock.

Ranger Alcohol Inks

Gesso

Prima Water Color Pencils

Blender Pens

Black and Copper Embossing Powder

Black Pigment Ink and Versa Mark Ink Pad

INSTRUCTIONS:

Ornate Cathedral Stained Glass merged perfectly with Spellbinder Shapeabilities Pendants Fleur De Lis.

I created another background cross that would compliment the stained glass window image, I cut off one corner of the die to attach to the bottom of the image.

The Fleur De Lis die cut was created by applying the art medium of gesso to heavy confetti card stock and allowing drying thoroughly for a day. The subsequent ink medium applied to the dried card stock was a collection of different colors of Ranger Alcohol inks; applied by means of a pouncing technique using their awesome blender tool. This technique provokes a very stimulating complexity of colors which cannot be seen by the camera.

The Stain Glass Cross image was Wet embossed on Vellum Cardstock and color applied on the backside using Prima Marketing Water ColorPencils and Blender Pens…

I simply mixed colors and made the correct combinations on plastic work-mat and then picked up the paint with the blender pen…In this process, less is always better. Have some q-tips and small pieces of paper towel handy to remove excess color. The color should pop out along the embossed line but be somewhat subdued in the middle areas. I played around with two images before I achieved the technique.

Allow the vellum pieces to dry and then applied the embossed piece to white ultra-smooth cardstock using velum tape very sparingly …this white cardstock enhances the color from the backside to be more prominent…stained glass look.

I have to share today, five Cards I created using Water Colors and Dry Embossing; I made these cards for one of my customers.

First, I must say, water color paints are by far my favorite art medium.

Water Color paints allows for an inherent freedom of expression. The paints, blamelessly stream where they may, into indiscriminate color formations. There are no mistakes and each piece brings about its own personality. This, is my passion, to create with no rules and go with the flow. For added dimension, I ran the pieces through my Big Shot machine using Dry Embossing Folders. After dry embossing the water color pieces, I gently sanded off the raised portion of water color. Voila and another expression is born.

FANCY PANTS DESIGNS - ALL FALL AND BLOGGERS CHALLENGE "ALTER IT"

Greetings Shades of Stamping readers, it is Friday and today I am sharing a Scrapbook page I did of my beautiful grandaughter Julie. I love scrapbooking School photos. I call these pages quick and simple to complete, as the market has the perfect paper and embellishments for fall and school. In no time you can have your keepsakes beautifully embellished and scrapbooked.

Today I am playing along with Lisa Somerville's Blogger's Challenge. Lisa challenged us to an open interpretation of the task, "ALTER IT". Take a tour of Lisa's site, scroll down to the bottom of the post and click on the pictures to see what other challenge players created.

My translation of 'alter it' is incorporating recycling using chipboard from a cereal boxes. I diecut the chipboard using Tim Holtz Alterations Sizzix Die - Honey Comb (#695430); painted with Acrylic Paints, Gesso and finished off with Tim Holtz Distress Stains 'Broken China' paints.

The word September is from Riff Raff Designs was painted in similar fashion.

I was thrilled to find this wonderful and simply perfect patterned paper by:

Fancy Pants Designs -ALL FALL, desinged by Nancie Rowe-Janitz;

"SPELLING AND ALL FALL - CARDS".

Hello to my readers, connie here to share another charming design created with the Julie Nutting Doll Stamps. To purchase these stamps go Scrapbookingfanatics online store.
The adorable little girl, can be adapted to creating cards, tags, scrapbook pages and altered books. This little cutie stands 7 1/2 inches tall.

I incorporated a few techniqes which employ embossing.
Embossing Instructions:
The background layer the girl is on, consists of Gesso applied to cardstock which was dried and heat set.
The second step is the painting of mediums:
I dabbed using an applicator onto the gesso piece with Ranger Alcohol inks and Rubbing Alcohol,
In the final step of painting, I included some light applications of Tim Holtz Distress Stains. Heat set and dry
For the Dry Embossing application, I ran this piece through my Sizzix Big Shot Machine to create an impression using Sizzix Tim Holtz Texture Fades " Collage and Notebook folder ".
For the last step incorporating 'wet embossing', I applied Green Pigment Ink brayering lightly overtop of the dry embossed piece and embossed the wet portion with clear embossing powder. Dried and set with a heat gun.

Phoomph for Fabric by Coats

PHOOMPH FOR FABRIC BY COATS AND CLARK

Phoomph is a double sided sticky adhesive made by Coats and Clarke. Designed as fabric bonding sheets that do not require sewing. Perfect to use with those Sizzix Bigz dies.
For this sample I used cotton fabric adhered to both sides of the Poomph adhesive. I also tried some colored toule to had a flair of dimension to the layered flowers. Sizzix Die Cut used, was Tim Holtz Alerations Line: Tattered Flowers. The Phoomph for Fabric comes in Soft and Stiff. I would like to try some altered book covers using upholstery fabric and some old jewelry.

SPELLBINDERS 3D M-BOSSIBILITIES CELTIC KNOT

Hello Connie Paxman here, to share with you my second Metal Art Creation; using the Spellbinders 3D M-Bossiblities " Celtic Knot" embossing folder.

I applied Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks to Pewter Medium Weight Art Emboss Metal before embossing with Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine. The metal peice was lightly sanded and then mounted on Cardstock and a Canvas. I would like to mention, the heavier metal is suitable for wall art; whereas another innovative source that would be lighter and more applicable to cardmaking, is Spellbinder Foil.

Each peice of Spellbinder Foil is 5 x 7" and is double sided, with the featured metallic color on one side and silver on the reverse side. Included in this package of twelve sheets is two of each color: Dark Blue, Dark Orange, Dark Red, Dark Turquoise, Dark Green, Purple.

SPELLBINDERS 3D M-BOSSIBILITIES "ROMAN ROMANCE'

Hello this is Connie Paxman for Shades of Stamping. I now live in Stony Rapids, Saskatchewan. I am designing for a fabulous store called Scrapbooking Fanatics from St. Albert, Alberta. Today I am showcasing Spellbinders 3D M-Bossiblities "Roman Romance"
The Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine is now in the store. The Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine accommodates multiple die templates on the new 8½ x 12" color coded plates to either cut or emboss in a single pass. Perfectly sized for Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities® dies!

The first one, is the georgous and enchanted

"Roman Romance".

I found this project to be comparatively smooth and simple. I applied Ranger Alcohol Inks to Pewter Medium Weight Art Emboss metal. Embossed, sanded and layered onto Cardstock and then placed on a canvas frame. The texture and 3-D effect is brilliant and lustrous. A real love affair with metal and decorous enough to earn a place on my wall.

Regency of the Royals

Connie here, to share a card with you that I created using Artistic Outpost's stamp plates, Loverly London and London Underground.

The images and word art showcases the nostalgia and regal flair of England and it's patronage of the Royal Monarchy. London Underground is a creative works of the "Tube" London's underground railway. Your Altered Art Projects, ATC's, Cards and Scrapbook pages will certainly be amplified in a clever and original style depicting the Regency of the Royals.

The backgrounds on this card were created using Tim Holtz Distress inks and Basic Grey Ribbon Tape.

Blogger's Challenge with Loverly London and the Grace of Hats

Connie here and back again to Bloggers Challenge, click on Lisa's Blog and take a tour of all the challenge player's websites. I have been absent from the crafting world for over a year and look forward to creating again and sharing with my followers.
This week's theme is " A Feminine Touch" ...

The history of Women's Fashions, the shift and trends during and after World War ll clearly was a paradigm transformation of their status in society... The hat you wore, seemingly depicted one's status in society. London was a leader in the design and millinery craft of Hats. Can you imagine this era; and, the treasure trove of bonnets and head gear the women of London collected in their closests.
For this card, I designed the background with Tim Holtz Distress Inks and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist spray. I stamped the altered background with an image from Artistic Outpost stamp collection: Ephemeral Backgrounds. The frame is a dicut from my Cricut Cartridge " Storybook ". The silk flowers are from Prima. The image of the lady is from Artistic Outpost's collection: Loverly London.

Artistic Outpost "Favorite Book"

Remember the days of the Old School House which often consisted of one room and a cozy warm wood stove.. And yes I am not that old, but I have used a cook stove in my day....
